Good morning ghosts and Goblins, It is cloudy and dark here we are in the 30s. I will need to defrost the car this morning, I have an appt to have the oil changed and all the other good stuff they do to the car. Its at 9 so I have some time to do chores, I was up at 5 seems I get up erlier and earlier these days, I hate daylight savings time and wish they would remove it and keep us on standard time, Tomorrow night we switch the clocks again,,,my Circadiun rhythm will be off again.
yesterday I got my mammo and dexascan and I came home served the stew and it was ok. I am not a stew fan but Ken is,,,there are plenty of left overs in the fridge and freezer.
I did get the laundry finished and the quilt came off the frame and is ready for binding, ,I might try to get the binding on today. Not sure what is for supper as Ken will be late tonight, not getting home from work til around 6 last I heard,, We do not get trick or treaters here s a quiet night for us. We used to go to DD s house and pass out candy while they took the kiddos out but that is a gone tradition now everyone stays home and does their own thing,,,
Hope you all have a great day, and a not to scarey night,,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

OOOOooooooooOOOOOoooooOOOOOooooo.......Happy Halloween!
I loved Halloween as a kid. We always went as bums, wearing my dad's work clothes - he was a logger. No ready made costumes in those days - at least if there were, my parents were careful to not let us know about them. As a mom I loved making my kids' costumes. As an empty nester, Bill and I went to many costume balls while in our 40's and 50's. Raggedy Ann & Andy, Dracula & Spiderella, Court Jesters, Union Soldier and Southern Belle. We had fun!
JUDI - I am so glad Bill does all the car appts. They are SOO not my thing. If I had to pick one, I'd pick Daylight Savings Time. I hate darkness in the evenings. Our state talks every year about abolishing it, but it would be too confusing to have some states on DST and some not. So whatever we do should be all or none. IMHO. We weren't big fans of stew either, but I started using ground sirloin instead of stew meat. Neither of us like stew meat. I brown it before putting it in the crockpot. (I brown all meats before putting in crock pot). And I use beer and V8 juice as liquid. And I add a few bay leaves, a packet of stew seasoning and a couple shakes of red pepper flakes.
CHRISS - we have a big bag of sidewalk chalk, so it was fun to draw on the shop cement floor. I loved the old Disney princesses as a kid, but Sleeping Beauty was my favorite. Amara is all about Elsa from Frozen. So many princesses to choose from now. You're still thinking of painting your cabinets? I think I would have done that before putting in new counters and flooring. Unless you plan to take all the doors off and paint them outside.
LYN - It's too bad Garry won't agree to sell a house you are at only a few weeks a year. Maybe after you start spending more time at Texas house, it will feel more like home and he will start to waver on the Estes house. Seems all the upkeep and maintainence issues fall on your shoulders.
MARY Q - If he's offering, I think I'd get that letter from your plumber now, rather than down the road. Before he forgets you or he moves on to a different job. And yes, the tutu still fits and she still wears it. In fact she has 2 or 3 tutus and wears them all the time - even to play in the giant sandbox at Aut's library. And no, I've never watched those tutorials. I can't find time to do all the things I already have, let alone actively look for more! Glad your machine is behaving now. Maybe it just needed a time out.
VAL - I missed you but knew you probably had your hands full. Full of what I really didn't want to think about! Odd about Tony's surgeon. I wonder about the back story there. How is he doing at home? Is he learning to handle his ostomy?
JANA - what kind of candy do you give out that you need to bag it? I think I want to come to your house! How many T/Ts do you get as a rule? I've lived in this house for 49 Halloweens. We've had 3 T/Ters over 49 years and 2 of them were our grandsons and the other was Vicki's little girl, who is now about 45 yrs old. But this has never stopped me from buying candy for - you know - just i case we suddenly get carloads of kids! Fun size Snickers, Milky Way bars, M&M's, etc.
LOIS - did you get Flamingo finished?
FLO - you are clever with your sewing machine to remodel that costume - and then build a giant spider out of a balloon!
The pace here has picked up some with both my girls home, both staying in RV's in the back yard. I'm loving it! Every morning Amara finds a little present under the tree and she is loving it! We didn't plan this, but it just sort of worked out this way. So this morning, while it's not wrapped, I have her beautiful Elsa dress hanging on the tree and the trick or treat bag I made her is under the tree. Can't wait for her to see it all! Tonite we are having our Christmas party - a present for every one, a taco bar, Christmas music.
Yesterday I was lonesome for my sewing room so I decided to start a table runner for our dining room. It's a pattern from Annie's Attic and it's a pieced snow scene with red pick up (like ours) hauling a Christmas tree. It's going to probably take me until Christmas to finish it but now I have a WIP to play with! I can only manage about 45 minutes at a time in the sewing room, but it's a break from sitting on the couch. Today is FINALLY my appt with my hip surgeon. I'm very excited to hear what he has to say. After 7 months of tests, scans, and multi-doctor-jostling, I'm ready to get this show on the road!
So, enjoy and Happy Halloween to you all!

Good morning!
Happy Halloween!
I buy the big bags of mixed Halloween candy that Costco has. I put 5 different candy pieces in a cellophane treat bag with a twisty tie, then put all the bags in a large galvanized wash tub. It makes it all easier for the kids to not be tempted to grab a huge handful. In the past, there were lots of kids in the neighborhood, but they've all grown up, so not nearly as many now, so I did up 75 bags this year. Last year I did 100, and had at least half left, so cut back this year. My favorite pieces are Almond Joy and Butterfingers, to which I can't eat at the moment. Almost can, though.
I put the bucket on the porch around 5 pm, check and when it's empty, bring the empty in and turn out the lights in that end of the house..
Not much here. Ethan is all set up for his online school now. He's in 8th grade, but the online school, moved his math class to the 9th grade math program. A good thing to keep his challenged. Also in his schedule is his music class, the after school orchestra he plays in.. it's a very prestigious group,, well known,, so Ethan gets school credits and practice time every day in his schedule.
Heading to the Batt Cave to sew.. I found some huge trash bag size gift bags,, so Karlie's bd present will get wrapped. It's a big,, as tall as a 10 year old kid, stuffed black bear with a Christmas tree in its paws. Daniel found it, used, in perfect condition a couple of months ago and hid it here. Karlie is a huge snoop! Her bd is November 30th. Karlie loves stuffed animals and Christmas decorations, this will be aa huge hit! Grandma's house is hiding central for all the grands gifts!
Hugs, and happy haunting!

Sewing room de-fluffed. Tomorrow I will clean inside machine as best I can. Today is all about trunk or treat.

Good Dreary morning!
Kind of a spooky morning... very appropriate for Halloween I guess! At least there is no snow in forecast---1992 we had 36" of snow over 24 hours! The Halloween storm of the century! I remember it well---stuck in the house with 3 cranky kids!!
Judi.... Do you have to wait a while to get the results of your dexscan? Will they be able to improvement from your injections? Can't say I'm a big fan of stew either, I prefer a clear beef veggie soup, with a little barley--which reminds me I need to make a batch... it's coming on "soup weather" here. Sometimes when I make a big batch I take some to Connie across the way---she likes to cook about as much as I do--NOT and at 92 I don't think she fixes good meals for herself.
Maryz..... Oh I'm not worried about my plumbers, they have been in business here since 1992! I know the couple that own it--tho they have retired and handed the reins down to their kids---I remember when those kids were born! They were customers of ours at the drugstore!! I discovered the reason my machine was making such an awful noise.... it was the FOOT!! There's little springs in it--like the darning foot.... once I cleaned and oiled those it works like a charm. Didn't you have projects that you were going to take to Texas--or did you finish those already. I'll be anxious to hear what the surgeon says---hopefully he can get this ball rolling so you don't have to wait until NEXT year to do this!!!
Jana... If you have any Almond Joy left over.... send them on over here!! Normally I don't care for coconut at ALL, but I do love AJ!!!! But then on the other hand, I shouldn't have any candy in the house at all!!! Tomorrow all the candy will be on sale at Walgreens, so I might have to go pick up some---and save it for the grandkids (yeh, right

)
Flo..... If I lived closer, I'd bring you a back up machine! I have a few extra here!
Chriss.... Funny the little places dust like to settle! I put new door knobs on all my doors--black ones... and now they show every speck of dust.... but you know, I don't care! Maybe that's why I keep moving from one thing to another, I don't want dust to settle on me! I find that if you go in to a conversation---even with a clerk at a store that looks crabby---with a smile and kind word it can make a world of difference. My Jen used to give me a hard time because I talk to strangers in the store all the time!!!
Lyn....My Bff left Colorado for a lot of the same reasons! Got too expensive for retired seniors! I bet you are anxious to get to play in the cabin! Can't wait to see pictures when you have it all set up.
Threw in the last load of laundry and when that's done I think I'll run into town and check out stuff at the Dollar Tree! (giggle giggle!) Then I'll come home and sew something. I cut out a bunch of fabric and am making Nursing Privacy covers for nursing Mom's--thought I'd see I can sell a few at the craft fair. If not, I might take to a local hospital---just trying to use up fabric. Way too much in my garage------if anybody needs anything that I might have ... PLEASE let me know, I'm happy to share!
Wishing you all a Happy Halloween!

A chilly morning. The birds have found that my feeders are full again and are starting to visit more. And the darn squirrel got the word, too.
There's a lot of cars out this morning on our usually quiet streets. I just remembered seeing a FB post that Sunrise Beach Village was having a Village yard sale today and tomorrow. The map shows 2 houses on my backyard street are participating. Maybe I will see if there's any treasures I need. Had I known sooner, I would have signed up and got rid of a few items the previous owners left that are taking up room in my garage.
George the Handyman got my riding mower back in tip top shape yesterday. I will be able to mow the empty lot now.
Dishes, laundry and some paperwork are high on the list today. I may go hide in the Cabin for a while and unpack some books.
We don't get trick or treaters here, not many kids in this little place.
Enjoy your day.

Lyn, I've heard if you put out peanuts for the squirrels they'll leave the bird feeders alone. We have a house in the neighborhood that does that and it seems to work.
Maryq, thanks for the offer of fabric, but I have plenty. I'll be purging again soon.
Jana, I need to buy candy. I'm usually prepared by now, but the days have got away from me.
Maryz, my mom made my costumes and then when I started sewing, I made them for me and then Jonathan. I heard a story on the new that more people are making their costumes this year to save money. Making a costume is way more fun. I went as Raggedy Ann one year. My mom made the wig out of red yarn. Your new project sounds fun. I think I've seen a pattern similar. Hope your appointment goes well.
Judi, I'm with you on the time change. Just leave it alone. We voted to keep it one time about 10 years ago. It passed by the voters but we're still changing the clocks twice a year. So why do we vote?
Jack is still limping. I asked if we could try laser treatments and they agreed it's a good idea. We still walk to the end of the block and back. It's a 1/4 mile round trip but about all he can do.
I have a long list of things I need to get done today. I have a lunch and games with friend tomorrow and then the kids are coming over for birthday dinner on Sunday. Nothing fancy, burgers and tots. Bill at some test for his heart. It's something they do with a dye instead of Cardiac catheterization. He's been dealing with getting tests done since February. They've canceled and reschedule so many of his appointments it's ridiculous. I need to do my exercises and get busy.
Happy Hallows Eve to all. May your day be filled with fun.

Lori, That sounded like a good idea until I remembered having to take Minnie to the Vet because Garry dropped nuts on the floor, and Minnie ate them and got sick. She seems to leave the bird seeds alone that fall to the ground.
As for time change, Arizona (with the exception of a Indian Reservation) and Hawaii stay on standard time. I think we should stay on standard, but the federal government has to make the change. At least that's what Google says.

Yup, many states have passed the resolutions to stay one way or the other on the time. But Congress hasn't made the final decision. States can petition to change, but it takes a special dispensation from congress.
The time zones and daylight savings started with the railroads for safety and the wars to make work time more efficient. Railroads run on a fixed schedule so no two trains can occupy the same track. No head on collisions! That's not a good thing! And printing a new schedule is a royal pain. The railroad does that twice a year.
I'm for more light at the end of the day. But the drawback of that is the kids walk to school in the dark. Pros and cons on either side. Just pick one and stick to it!
Reminded of a old saying, if the opposite of pro is con, what is the opposite of progress? Congress?

Good afternoon. Gosh it's just a gorgeous day. I've finished cardio rehab, had my lunch/dinner and am ready to get something done around here.
Slim came and got my trash, He said I paid him too much last time and refused payment for this time. I bought a two-drawer wooden file cabinet at an estate sale and Slim brought it into the house for me. Now I can fill it up and clear off my desk.
The parents were here yesterday. My toilet needed a new wax ring and dad fixed that. He also hung my paper towel holder and put a towel rack on the inside of the doors under my sink. His payment was a pepsi, it's always a pepsi, and off they went. Judy and I listened to old time country music on Amazon music, she loves singing all those old songs.
Judi, I also wish the time didn't change. We fallback around Richards birthday 10/27 and spring forward around Marilyn's birthday 03/03. I like stew, I just don't like it often. I cut up either a London Broil or a round steak because that's the way Jerry did it. Yay for getting that quilt off of the frame. I won't get T&T'ers either. It would be fun to go into town and watch trunk or treat just to see the costumes, but I will likely stay home. I also need an oil change but have 400 miles to go before it needs to be done.
Maryz, how magical for Amara to wake up to a surprise every morning. I hope you got a picture of her face when she saw that dress. I like the movie Frozen, it is a good story. When you said you were coloring on the cement I imagined you laying on a blanket with coloring books and crayons. I misunderstood. Well? what did the hip surgeon say, hoping the news is in your favor. When I tackle the kitchen cabinets they will need new hinges and I will add hardware, but there is a lot to do before that happens. We still need to remove the wall oven and figure out shelving for the microwave and cupboards that will go above and below it. It's getting there but isn't there yet.
Jana, glad the school stuff is working out. I think big problem with schools is most kids aren't challenged and are bored. I would love to see the look on her face when she opens up that bear, I'd love to see her lug it around. what fun. My favorite candy bar is probably a Mr. Goodbar or Reeses peanut butter cups. I really don't eat much candy, in fact, I stole a small bag of M&M's from my dad's candy stash and it's still in the bottom of my purse.
Flo, it's hard to find a good sewing machine fixer nearby. the one that is ok is about 35 minutes from me, the better one is 45 minutes. It's either up hill or down hill.
Maryq, I have mostly brass in my house. 35 years ago brass and oak were the cool thing to have. I'm slowly changing to brushed nickel or stainless steel. Lyn said I should sit outside with Moose and rest instead of dusting my doors, so they are still dusty. I have a girlfriend who will talk away to whoever will listen. Sometimes I wait for her to finish so we can go. She's a pretty good friend. If I lived closer to you I'd come look through your garage fabric. But you are over 1,900 miles away, and if I'm going to your house I might as well go a little further and go see Judi.
Lyn, I followed your wise advice, I didn't dust or do any hard labor here yesterday. I have all weekend to get my chores done. I like that you chose Texas. Hope you found a treasure or two at the yard sales. It would have been fun to go to them with you.
Lori, I sure hope Bill gets things done with his heart appointments. I bet he wishes so too. Wish I could give Jack a big hug, I'm sorry he still has a bum let. One year I found an orange fitted sheet at WalMart, Marilyn wanted to be a pumpkin. I sewed it so she'd have arm holes, leg holes and a hole fo her head, them I appliqued black eyes, nose and mouth and stuffed it with those plastic grocery bags and newspaper. She was excited then decided she wanted to be a cat and we bought a black headband with ears and a tail that safety pinned onto her black leotard, she also had black tights.
I had a latish lunch so probably won't eat dinner. I made enough nacho's yesterday that it was also lunch today.
You girls have a great rest of the day.
Chriss
