Good morning it is cold here 39 when I got up...brrrr... we had the windows opened and it was 65 in the bedroom,,,I hated to get out of the warm bed,
I need to go up and get my brother a birthday card as my sister in law is throwing a 70th surprise party for him. on sunday, we will drive up to Saginaw for that, Today is also one of my granddaughters birthday so I need to get her card to her,,,I am bad forgot to mail it, Will drop it off at her Moms house ( DDIL Val) then I need to get a king sized batt for this quilt. The one I have is about 4 inches short, I hate that Joanns is closed for just this kind of stuff, I always could run in there for a batt or thread or some fusible. The selection at Michaels here isnt that great, Hobby Lobby does carry batting so I will see. I hate pieced batting for large projects like this, In the mean time I will make pizza dough, and make sure I have all the fixings for that, Wihing you a great day Prayer for all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,
I see our site is extremely sluggish again this morning.
JUDI - happy birthday to all your people. We live by our kitchen calendar. And I often write MAIL ____'S CARD about a week before the birthday. Especially for those birthdays that are in the first week of the next month. Is your quilt top all together? I didn't work on mine at all yesterday but I did look at the pictures of the next block. That's on my agenda for today. How is Mickey doing?
VAL - good luck with all the surgery prep work for Tony today. Glad you got your foot! (that sounds funny.)
MQ - Check your weather forecast and then decide if you're working inside or outside. Wait! I'll do it for you. Looks like you have sunshine and 65* until Sunday.
TINA B - so glad you checked in! You are one busy lady! I got the nicest note from my friend, Susie, who really loved her pocket prayer quilt! I'm extending her thanks on to you.
LORI - I've made one tee shirt. It wasn't difficult, just took some planning. It was WAAAYY easier than that baby clothes quilt I made during the summer for Amara and Daddy.
CHRISS - your stew is going to be excellent. Cutting partially frozen meat is so much easier than cutting it fully thawed. When I married Bill he said he didn't like stew. But when I used ground sirloin instead of stew meat, he was much happier, so that's what I do now. I brown it first, and then put everything together in the crockpot for the day. I do the thickening about 1/2 before we eat. I've used flour, cornstarch, potato flakes, and instant gravy and all are tasty. I've never tried cream soups - yet. Let me know how it goes.
FLO - any word on your friend?
JANA - I'm so curious about Zion's middle name! So for now, to me, he is Zion Bob. Glad to hear all your peeps are doing OK. What is the current sewing project?
LYN - So what's left on your to-do list before you can leave for Texas? Besides the MH? It sounds like everything is slowly coming together. We haven't received mail at our house for over 8 years. We don't even have a mailbox at the end of our driveway. All our mail goes to our UPS box and they forward to us wherever and whenever we ask them. When we're home, we pick up the mail every two or three days. When we're in Texas we have it sent every couple of weeks. So I hope you are able to get your package.
LOIS - good news on the machine! Waiting for it gives you time to make another quilt! What is next up on your quilting list?
Yesterday I got all the heat packs made for David - just waiting for the corn to arrive. I had an even dozen but managed a smaller 13th that would make an ideal ice pack. A good use of leftover scraps. I also worked on my CW's. Today will be more CW's, and making the next KTVC block. We also need to pick up an Rx and the mail. Handy that CVS and UPS are next door to each other. Tonite we are having friends over. I was going to marinate a London Broil to grill and make scalloped potatoes. But Bill insisted that all that goes into a big meal is just beyond me at the moment. So since these friends are our "come as you are, spur of the moment" friends, they are OK with Take 'n' Bake pizzas. We'll have salad and ice cream sundae's for dessert.
So that's my story for today.
Wishing all a good day.
mary z

Good morning!
The warm before the storm, or should I say storms! There are two coming and will meet over us. One is the remnants of a hurricane and the other is coming from the northwest. Lots of rain and snow predicted. Lyn needs to get the heck out of Dodge! It's all heading east!
I finished up the collages that I was gathering from the party. 3 frames and a sign board that says, look what we did! Well I had planned to put that altogether on my staircase walll, but it's not feasible to see all the pictures and keep it level. So we're thinking of a plan B, and that doesn't please Mr G, so it's on to a plan C. Open floor plans are not great for wall space!. Very little available! And windows get in the way too!
As for Zion's middle name, still unknown, Crenda has a nephew who's named Canyon, so Zion could use that name as his middle and be Zion Canyon. LOL! Canyon has siblings named Paisleigh and River. Utahns come up with all the weirdest names! Our little Enoch will have the middle name of Michael. So he'll be Enoch Michael. Matt's youngest is Baden Michael. A couple of normal names in the mix.
Not much here. Working on my JA top. And keeping the house clean. I need to make sure the walkways areas are trip free. Mr G has a tendency not to see things well and I don't want him to fall. We are adding in the very near future, a gate, on the stairs on the main floor. It will look like a extension of my railing already there. Balance is part of the Lewy body disease.
So off I go,
Hugs
Jana

Good Morning Girls
Yup, site is definitely moving slow this morning! I keep two windows open and I could read a book in the time it takes to get a page up!
Lois.... Great news...your machine is on the way home! If they send it FedEx like you have to return it--you would think it would come back pretty fast!
Judi..... What kind of batting do you prefer? I do love W & N... and would buy that hands down every time, but alas, it's a little out of my price range--especially for the quilts I make and give away. I've found a Pellon 80/20 on line at Walmart--about $45. a bolt of 90" wide. Delivered free right to my door. I usually order 2 at a time and send one down to Viv for when she does my quilts for me. If I was making a real heritage quilt--something to be passed on long after I'm gone, I think I'd take out a 2nd mortgage to get the W & N !. For sure.... .LOTS of prayers for Mickey!!
Maryz... The weather is absolutely perfect here these days, what I've suffered the heat of July for!! I just might work in the garage this afternoon. How many CW's have you made now? I see a lot of sewing videos on Facebook so I save them---found a couple for CW's that I may try!
Jana.... Have you noticed how many babies now have some of the old fashioned names! Just this year, I have a Norah, Elinor and Everett! You sure didn't hear those names in the 50's & 60's! Since I am a "boomer" we are Debbies, Kathys, Marys, Janets, Christines. Kevin wanted to name his daughter Bernadette---until he saw the look on my face! I'm so glad he went with Corinne instead. I sometimes feel bad for kids that are given really weird names... Jen has a few students with odd names--I think of it in terms of an 80 year man---named Zion.
Chriss.... How was your stew with cream soup? I do think I'm going to try that next time! I'm with you... I'd much rather use my carbs on a REAL potato!! Do you have a day for your counter tops? They came and did a real measure the other day, and I'm checking e-mail every morning to see if they can give me a date yet! I don't know about you, but I'm sure anxious to get it down and get the dishwasher back in the house!

"Borrowing" Zara once in a while is kind of like baby sitting grand babies---you can give them back.
Lyn... Oh yes, I remember those "detector" rules! Years ago when I had some work done on my deck, in order to pass that inspection--I had to update and install new smoke alarms and C02 detectors. Hope you get everything put together there in Estes so you can head south before the snow flies!
Lori... I've made 2 Tshirt quilts and vow NEVER AGAIN!! I never thought I'd get into machine embroidery---I remember seeing one at a quilt show once and thought--'that's cheating" as I was/am a hand embroiderer. But oh my gosh... this has been so fun!!! I can stitch on just about anything---vinyl, canvas, tulle, regular fabric and if I had the right needle--maybe leather!! If you ever need something stitched give me a holler!
Spent most of yesterday trying to put sewing room back in shape. I so wanted to rearrange but there's really only way one it can go. I did do a little recon and my supply of Jelly Rolls (most KC gave me--as I rarely, if ever BUY them) I probably have 20 of them and am anxious to get them used up---along with one box (Artbin) full of layer cakes. So I looked through a couple books last night to get ideas. Today Zara and I have a quick errand to run then we come home and go for a walk--hopefully she will get the "you -know-what" job done. (another reason I don't want a dog full time--I'm not big on scooping you-know-what)
Haven't heard any new from the sewing machine place so I'm assuming it's a go to pick it up tomorrow. They said they would call if there was a problem! Since the thrift store we want to see was closed, I'll see if Peggy is up to riding along!
time for more coffee!!!

Good morning, it's going to be a great day today.
This afternoon is the cousin get together, It's been many years since we've all gotten together, and I am not sure how many are going. We really don't keep in touch and know nothing about each other. But we are all getting older. I've made my fruit salad and will cut up the banana's and apples before we go. I'm not thrilled with the fruit and think the season is about over.
I had blood drawn yesterday for two doctors, my cardiologist and my regular doctor for my yearly stuff. Half of the results are in and so far I am normal. Hoping they have more soon. I really never thought I'd have different doctors or any health issues. I have a couple of things that need to be addressed and amhoping I will be back to where I was. It's been a stressful couple of years
Judi, prayers for Micky and yay for being at the border stage. I've also not found anything at Hobby Lobby or Michaels lately. It is rather frustrating to want a something and not find it. Happy birthday to your kin folk.
Maryz, yay for having those packs all ready for stuffing. I read about your stew and realized I didn't buy tomato juice for mine. I did buy some crock pot liners so we will see what I think of those. They will either be wonderful or they will be junk. Smart to have pizza instead of spending so much time in the kitchen, That Bill, he's a thinker.
Jana, I don't have a middle name. A friend and I were talking about names and how they've changed over the years. Names like lily, garnet, ruby, and iris have been replaced with other unique names. Sure wish I could take advantage of one of those storms that will be in your area.
Maryq, Those layer cakes and charm packs will make great quilts. My go to is the jelly roll race and with the layer cakes half square triangles. I never thought about scooping up after a dog. Mine goes out in the field where I don't have to think about it. I haven't made the stew yet, I will soon, our temperatures went up a bit but are coming back down for perfect stew weather. Also no countertop date yet. They said they would receive the materials in a few weeks then fabricate it. It seems like forever but has only been three weeks.
Not sure what dinner will be. Last night I had nachos. I might do a load of laundry but other than that I am not doing much.
You all have a fab day,
Chriss

Good morning
Site still slow but I am up and at it. Got the ribs in the crock pot, sheets in the wash, dishwasher unloaded and breakfast dishes loaded. 🌧 is starting but just a light sprinkle for now. I am resting my back now and will start some sewing in a few.
We got through the preadmission testing. Blood work. EKG and full medical history with the nurse. H & H came back and bit low at 3.4 and 8. I don't know what criteria this hospital uses do not sure if they will transfuse pre surgery.
Lois soon you will be back to quilting, I am excited for you.
Maryq I too love W&N. My long armer charges $12 a yd for it.
Lori I have no interest in t-shirt quilts
Jana I think you should suggest a middle name. Something like Alexander. Xavier. What I call elaborate names.
Judi definitely prayers for Mikey. Missed why he is having brain surgery.

So yesterday I put up a card table and started my Halloween puzzle. Bill and I worked on it most of the afternoon. He loves doing the puzzles but never puts them out. It's very limited on color and difficult. It's called "Halloween Hometown." https://fun-puzzle.com/products/hallowe ... d3d0&_ss=r
It's much cooler this morning. It was in the upper 50's and all the windows were open so it was cool in the house as well. Not enough to turn on the heater. Jack is napping already since our walk. I want to go up the street and straiten out things a bit. I got some boxes for dishes, so I may pack up a set. There's at least 4 sets of dishes. I now only have one set in my kitchen. I purged a couple of the kitchen drawers in my house the other day. I couldn't believe all that stuff actually fit in the drawers. Last night we had salmon, rice and broccoli instead of potatoes. So tonight will be baked potatoes and chili. The Cubs won the game yesterday, so they have another chance. Go Cubbies!
Maryz, I see your Mariner's are tied up now 2-2. I think they will beat Detroit though. They are really good this year. It's not that I think the T-shirt quilt would be hard, I just have no interest in making one. I too have birthdays on the calendar and to send cards the week before. Twins.
Judi, your house stayed pretty warm if it was 39* outside. Autumn seems to be coming faster this year. Do you have a LQS that would have the batting you need? Hope all goes well for Mickey today.
Jana, rain is a good thing. We got a little bit of it the other day.
Maryq, I have friends that really got into the machine embroidery too. If I want something made, they'll make it for me. I have way too many hobbies as it is. Do you ever hear from KC?
Chriss, good to hear you are normal. Hopefully this next year will just be fun and good times. No more stress. I looking forward to that day too. Have fun with the cousins today.
Valerie, sounds like you are all caught up and ready for tomorrow. Hope it goes smoothly for DBIL.

Sunny, mid 50's and 72 is predicted high today.
Jana, We have a 50% chance of rain tomorrow. Whatever you are getting must be going to hit Wyoming and beyond.
MaryZ, We haven't had a mail box at the house for years. We use the UPS store here. I, too, have mail forwarded about every 2 weeks, from Rockport, except when we are in Canada.
Transwest called yesterday afternoon and the MH is ready. I told the gal about the package and that I needed to wait until after Monday, that's our trash day. She said that was fine, they will keep it plugged in. I told her I would start bringing stuff back down and reload.
Since Garry wasn't feeling well yesterday, I decided to wait on beef short ribs and made a chicken and pasta with broth and cream of chicken soup. Garry likes thicker soup. It turned out good, except I had an accident with my first bowl. We like to watch TV while we eat dinner, so I have these really pretty flowered plastic trays that I bought at HEB grocery store in Texas years ago. I had carried Garry's in and then as I carried mine, my shoe caught on the floor, left a black mark, and I went down. I broke the tray, big part flew about 10 ft. and shattered the bowl. My left little finger is bruised but not broken. My left knee is swollen on one side and I have a long red scrap just left of center on my abdomen. If I don't touch or lean over, my abdomen seems OK, just badly bruised.
I was going to take a load down to the MH, but maybe I will just relax today.
Prayers for all in need.
Lyn
