SATURDAY, Oct 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Oct 04, 2025 5:57 am

Good morning, everyone,

JANA - I'm glad both Montana and Zion are doing well, but what a scary ride! From your brief description it sounds as if Mom was suffering from one of two conditions: Placenta Previa where the placenta implants in the wrong place and can block the cervix requiring a C-section, or Placenta Abruption, where the placenta abruptly separates and can cause mom severe pain and needs immediate diagnosis and C-section. Zion is going to have to hang out in the NICU for a while. We usually told parents that most babies would be going home about their original due date. Though, if all went well with our babies, they often went home a little earlier than that. I would say God bless them both, but sounds like He already has!

LYN - well, you can tell Garry, that I think his little story is funny! lol! Though if you tell us 4 more times by the end of the year I might think it less so. Autumn will be arriving here in about 3 weeks. The first half of their trip will be to a library conference in Denver. They think they will arrive here Oct 23 (driving). They have a friend's wedding to attend Nov 6 in Sacramento on their way home. That's all I know. But Aut has been at the libraries for a lot of years, is now the big boss and has lots of vacation. She can pretty much do what she wants. Still, this means she'll probably have to work extra to fill in here and there so her staff can take some time off over the holidays, but she would probably do that anyway.

CHRISS - I hope Dad's back is better soon. I know my chiro keeps me going - well, until now. He can't cure arthritis, darn it! But he helps. And yes, Lee and Lara visited A&A&A about 18 months ago, so they've met Amara. I remember when you went to the Ag show and it poured on you. Here, we've learned when you can't fight the rain, you embrace it. Life in the PNW is just easier that way.

LORI - I'm thrilled that you passed your 4 yr check up after your BC. Now, onward and upward! Oh, wait - I think you've already embraced that philosophy in spades! and clubs, diamonds, and hearts. And in paint, music, cotton, and much more. When our Eleanor said, "You go, Girl!", you got up and went and haven't stopped! Any chance Jonathon might come home for any of the upcoming holidays?

VALERIE - safe travels!! Siri tells me it's about 570 miles to Indian Springs. You have a long day ahead of you. Stop often, walk and stretch, and be safe!

MARY Q - I know you are gone for the weekend, but that means the floor is all mine, right?? (and I really should mop that floor!) I've given several of my parents' things to my niece who is almost like a younger version of myself. A keeper of special things. My grandsons surely don't want Mom's wedding dress, and it's not looking like either of them will ever have kids. Amara might be interested but Aut won't want to store stuff like that for 30 years. So Carmen gladly takes it all! and her DD is the same - treasures everything family! Have fun this weekend and we'll see you on Monday!

LOIS - I love those clippy thingies. They come in handy in so many ways. I got some as a SS gift but then lost them in my sewing room. So I bought myself more. Then my sister found a box full of them in a thrift shop and sent them to me. So now I'm well supplied in my house and in my sewing space in the trailer.

FLO - so how as the Big Farm Show? Did you buy a new Big Farm??

JUDI - what's on your docket for the day?

Yesterday I did didly squat after my chiropractor appt. My good (?!?) hip and leg really kicked into high gear. Or maybe I should say low gear? I could barely walk into my kitchen. This cripple business is really getting in the way of my sewing business. Only 11 days til my appointment! In the meantime, I'm getting Hallowthanksmas organized. Fall stuff is on full display around the house, Christmas gifts are laying all over in family piles waiting to be wrapped, the tree is coming today I think. I've got lists of my lists. I have some vegetarian cookbooks so I'm going through them for recipe ideas. Half the family is vegetarian. Then we have one who won't eat tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and everything else I cook with. Meals might be a challenge but I'll just be glad we'll be together.

I did get my soup made yesterday and today we're taking half of it to our friends in Oly and see what we can do to give them a hand around the house - or take them shopping, etc. One still using a walker and one still on crutches, they are hurting for some assistance. Not sure I'll be much help, but Sherri says she is also hurting for some company, and that I can do! And we all pray Bill stays healthy!! So we'll be out of here about 8:30 this morning.

Gene & Terry were married yesterday. They are 90 and 82 years old. My niece, Laurie, said it was funny that the priest went on at some length about going forth, multiplying, having children and grandchildren, yada yada yada, when the church was filled with their children, grandchildren, and great granchildren!

Happy Saturday!

Good morning it is opening day of applefest here in our little town . They close all of main street in an L shaped route. Hundreds of people come to see vendors food and music, We are right on the edge so lots of traffic and cars, We used to go camping this week and miss most of it. But we now live with the chaos for 2 days,,,It is a lot of fun and we have a lot of folks stop by, Some ask to parking our driveway, we let family and friend park.
I need to do some house keeping this morning. Friday is my house cleaning day but Ken was home yesterday and we did some running and had breakfast out, So I will clean up bathrooms and floor this morning before the crowds start. Since it will be hot today 80+ I have plenty of cold water bottles in the fridge, My middle son will be here and he may walk the festival, Because of the crowds and heat I may or may not go all the way into town to the end, it is a large l shaped route, I dont need any craty stuff mostly Halloween, and fall...Ken likes the apple pies and pastries and sometimes we have a guy from Detroit who sells homemade sweet potato pies and Ken always buys one.
I did start put together part of the top last night it is like a giant puzzle where you have to make new pieces t get it to fit, It is a cute quilt and I will love it when its finished,,,so if I get time I will work on it today. or tonight,
Hope you all have a great day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Morning
Farm Fest was nice. Alot of walking. No luck on pump for tractor. There is a pump from a Volvo car that can be Frankenstein-Ed to work. The search goes on.
Late last night got a call from old friend in Cali. He & his wife went up to northern Cal to help family and she is on hospital with pneumonia and possibly has cancer. The family they went to help don't care. Please keep Debbie Brozek in your prayers.
Today kids coming for bbq.

Good morning. It promises to be a great day today.

I think it's time to reverse the direction of my ceiling fans. I have shut them all off because it's just too chilly and I will change their direction soon. Other plans today include housework, unless I change my mind, and some paperwork.

I still haven't made that stew. after rehab I just want to come home and rest. I am up to a 19 minute mile. I'm at 3.1 mph and want to work my way up to 4mph and a 15 minute mile. but that won't be soon. And speaking of walking (see how I did that?) guess who's grandson is up to about 4 wobbly steps.

I drafted a letter to the hospital where I had my surgery to tell them how happy I am with everything. I will send a copy to their HR department but am wondering if I should also send it to the president of their board. I wish I could remember everyone's name who I came in contact with but can only remember a few.

Lyn, cute story about let's turn around and try it tomorrow. But I completely understand how things are cute until they are redundant. When my son was maybe 11 and Jerry's daughter was 13 the movie sixth sense came out. Jerry's daughter had a friend spending the night and my son opened all the cupboards and drawers in the kitchen. the girls shrieked. Then he did it again, and again. I had to remind him things are funny the first time but after that it's just annoying.

Maryz, congratulations to the newly wedded couple. what kind of soup did you make? sounds like you have big plans for meals when the kids get there. Lots of veggies and for the extra picky eater, a bologna sandwich. My floors could also use a good mopping, but it will have to wait. I'm not lifting the mop bucket just yet. I visited my dad yesterday and he said he felt much better. I told him I wanted to see him stand up and bam, he stood up with out any delay.

Judi, I love that you have applefest, it sounds like a lot of fun. We have a you pick orchard near here, If I baked I would be there.

Flo, sorry you couldn't find the tractor part but you got your steps in. Prayers for your friend.

There is a fund raiser tonight, tri tip which I do like, but I am not sure if I want to go out in the cold to eat dinner and it's about 20 minutes away. I think I will pass. so dinner will be what ever I find in the fridge. Tomorrow a friend and I will be going to the yearly flea market, She likes to go I could take it or leave it. But I enjoy the walking.

You girls have a wonderful day,
Chriss

Good morning!

Was rudely woke up around 4 this morning with a huge thunderstorm! It was right on top of us, we had the flash, boom at the same time! No need to do the count calculation, to see how far away the lightning strikes were! The strikes rattled and shook the house! Then came the downpours and hail against the window. Worried us that it would break the window. All is calmed down for the moment, just still raining. Earlier last night, the local high school football game was put in a weather delay because of another thunderstorm, that rolled through. We are saturated!

Today General Conference begins. First session is in a less than a hour. Two more sessions today. The last session tonight is where Kate is singing in a special choir. The little girls are staying with Sarah. Aaron has a special ticket to attend. Tickets are very hard to get, so we watch from home.. I'll be sewing.

Update on new little one - he weighed in at 4lb 4oz and is beathing well enough that they want to see how well he does without the oxygen, just on his own. Mom is doing well too. The complications were a combination of both of what Maryz wrote. It was a blessing that they were in the hospital when it ruptured, or both would have been lost. Thank you for your prayers.

Time to get breakfast, before Conference starts,
Hugs,
Jana

We may see some of Jana's storms this afternoon.

MaryZ, I'm sure you will fix meals that everyone will eat. Congratulations to the newlyweds.

Judi, The applefest sounds fun.

Flo, Prayers for your friend.

Jana, Good to hear Zion & Montana are doing well. Praying it continues.

Chriss, I would tag along to the flea market. I've been watching Flea Market Flip. I enjoy seeing how people transform stuff, some good, some I shake my head and wonder how they think it will sell.

Hi to everyone else.

Transwest called yesterday, they are working on the infloor heat. There will be a small strip that won't be heated, but shouldn't be too noticeable on bare feet. It could be fixed but would require several tiles pulled. Heat pad goes side to side and tiles go front to back. A much bigger expense than I'm wanting to pay. They should have the MH done Monday or Tuesday. So, it's time for me to start gathering up all the stuff I brought up to the house. I'm hoping Transwest will leave it parked and plugged in, in their secure lot until I get everything loaded. If all goes well, we'll leave at the end of next week. That said, I need to get busy.

I'm back for a "shortie". Oh wait - I forgot! I'm me. I don't really do shortie posts. But then you all knew that, didn't you.

Thank you Chriss, for posting my photo for me (over in Photos) of the wedding yesterday. They do both look happy and I pray they have many good years ahead of them. And by the way - congrats to your walker! There's no stopping him now! Glad Dad is feeling better. And don't forget - you are still recovering. Beware of crowds. Flu (and Covid!) seasons are starting. Just a friendly PSA - public Service Announcement.

JUDI - Enjoy the sounds and atmosphere and maybe the aromas of the Applefest, even if you don't get out and walk the vendor aisles!

JANA - Amazing now what medical science is doing. I was wondering if Baby Zion had to go on a vent, but was hoping he could get by with just a little supplemental O2. Prayers all the good news continues.

LYN - it's hard to believe it's already time for you to head to Texas. I was hoping to get out to your house this winter. Guess I'll have to wait another year.

I decided not to go with Bill to our friends in Olympia today. I have officially graduated to using a cane. I would be no help and Bill would have 3 people he had to assist instead of just 2. So I sent them a big jar of taco/enchilada soup, a note, and two little Pocket prayer Quilts (thank you, Tina B!). They can use them! So I am going to spend my day wrapping a few Christmas presents, sewing some FG for my VC, and reading.

Bye for now - again.

Jana, glad the little one and mom are doing well. Hope they continue to improve.

Maryz, or should we refer to you as gimpy now...just kidding. I sure hope once you see the ortho things get moving a little faster. Sometimes you just need to get your foot in the door to make things happen. Great picture of Gene and Terry. I'm glad they have each other to grow older with. I don't think Jonathan will come home for the holidays. It's a long drive and he's by himself, and the dog. If he could fly he would. We're get on an airplane and get there faster kind of people.

Chriss, how exciting. Little Elliott is on the move. There's no stopping him now. Once you are back up and running you can chase after him. I turned off my ceiling fans, and had to clean them. It's amazing how much dirt gets stuck on the blades. I really should clean them more often, but that's probably not going to happen. That is really sweet of you to write a letter about your care. People always like to hear when they're doing a good job.

Lyn, exercise can be hazardous. Glad your MH is almost done. I bet you are ready to go enjoy the sewing shed.

Flo, sorry about your friend.

Judi, I would go to the fall fest just for the pie. I love pie.

I had my Tahoe serviced at the dealership today. They do the first service for free, so it didn't cost me a dime. I watched the Cubs get killed by the Brewers. I did a little embroidery while I was waiting for my car. Then this afternoon I worked on my watercolor project. Hopefully I'll get better with time. I am starting to figure it out a little bit, but have a long way to go. Dinner was nachos.

Have a wonderful evening.

Safe and sound in Indian Springs. Dinner was out. Grocery shopping done. All put away. We will worry about everything else tomorrow.

Good night for now
