Morning!
DBIL&DDIL just left. It was a wonderful visit, but I'm exhausted. Today is clean bathrooms and floors. DBIL took 2 of the teddy bears from his dad's shirts with him. When he saw them in Sewing room, he got so excited and remembered dad wearing the shirts. As it was his birthday while they were here, I gifted 2 to him.
Gonna have coffee.

Re: Wednesday October 1st
Good rainy morning,
Loving the sound of rain on our roof! And of our dry trees sucking up all that cool, clear, water. They sure need it!
This morning I have an 0745 appointment with a spinal orthopedic surgeon in Tacoma. My friend, Susie, highly recommended him. And, as odd things happen, Susie has an appointment right after mine! So the four of us will meet up afterward and go to brunch at a nearby cafe. Breakfast in a restaurant is my favorite meal out.
LYN - I loved your photos! So Rocky Mtn Park! And look at you, ridin' high and sittin' pretty! It's official - there is nothing you can't do! And what a great job your granddaughter has! You must be so proud of her!
JUDI - Sorry you woke up so early. I was happy that I "slept in" until 0430 this morning! lol! I will be joining you in the sewing room this afternoon, but my morning is spoken for. It's so nice that the girls can simply enjoy the game and not get too hung up on winning/losing. Bill will eat split pea soup maybe twice a year, and then only the first day. He doesn't like it the second day. I've finally learned to make only half the package of peas. That gives me enough for lunch for a couple of days. I add diced potato, onion, carrot, celery and a bay leaf to mine and let it cook in the crockpot all day. Sometimes I add ham, or kielbasa, but I also like it without.
FLO - glad your visit went so well. I love having friends and family come visit, but it can be exhausting. Happy birthday to your DBIL. My DBIL's birthday is today - he's 88, still working, still busy with life.
CHRISS - how did your follow up appt go yesterday? You've been such a model patient, I can't imagine he'd be anything but pleased with your progress and stick a gold star on your forehead. Thank you for posting LYN's photos. They are such great pictures! Somehow Postimg fell off my phone so I've got to get it back. Bill decided to "clean up" my phone about a month ago and I lost a lot of my stuff. And no, IF the A-Team comes to visit it won't be Amara's first trip. They went to Colorado a year ago and were on the road for 2 weeks, to Louisiana in April for her 2nd birthday, then a 2-week camping/B&Bing trip to Pennsylvania in June when they had to be somewhere while moving between houses. They had to be out of old house 6/15 and couldn't move into new house until 7/1. Antonio is from PA and has relatives there so it seemed a good time to go visit. So Amara is pretty well traveled. So don't know if Aut can arrange for another vacation so soon. She is trying but her staff comes first. As to their mode of travel, we don't know. It's 2,500 miles each way so I really can't see them driving. But they might. IF they come at all.
MARY Q - sorry your friend got sick - especially on her birthday! Did you find something fun to do on your own? Did you and Zara get in a walk? Walking days are numbered! I will walk in cold temps, light rain, and even light snow. But with all the trees around here, I won't walk in wind. It's risky just walking down our driveway in wind.
LORI - it's too bad no one wants your grandmother's china. What a fabulous heirloom. I have china, too. I never wanted it - never bought any. Until one day about 20 years ago, I came across a complete set of Noritake china in a pale green pattern that really spoke to me! In the Goodwill. For $29. I couldn't resist it. So now I have china that no one wants. It's packed away for now, but I still love it.
JANA - did the Costco Trap get you when you went for milk? You know, we finally realized buying milk at Costco - or any store for that matter! - was costing us between $50 and $100 every time we walked into the store! We finally started getting milk delivery - at $6/gal we were saving a ton of money!
Well, I am off to get ready for my doctor appointment. After we get home, I plan to work on KTVC ornament blocks. I got a short start on them yesterday. Tomorrow is massage appt, Friday is chiropractor and veterinary. Saturday is back to our friends in Olympia for the day. Plus, while I won't be there, my brother Gene, and my SIL, Terry, are getting married at morning Mass in North Pole, AK. It's a busy week.
Hope everybody gets to fondle the fabric today!

Good Morning Girls
Hey check this out! I'm UP showered and DRESSED all before 10am!!!
Judi... Sorry you couldn't get back to sleep!!! I wake up a few times during the night, but I generally don't have trouble falling back to sleep. But I sure have had those nights of the brain just not wanting to shut down--sometimes it's even been calculation various quilt projects in my head or having an idea, and hoping I remember it in the morning!
Maryz... Hoping all goes well at your appointment this morning!!! Years ago I had 20 place settings of china that I got through a bank promotion and various garage sales. In the end, I just used it as kind of everyday dishes. Not suitable for microwave, but since it wasn't "good" stuff I ran it through the dishwasher anyway. I ended up giving it all away to a gal I worked with---as I had to find room to keep my Mom's China. Oh how she loved having China!!! I still have a cupboard full of Fiestaware I'm not sure what to do with--it's just too darn heavy to use on a regular basis. How did it go with your Log Cabins for your FTVC ?
Flo...Always fun to have company, especially family, but nice when every body goes home and you can get back to normal!
Anybody having trouble getting on this morning? I got on just fine, but notice there are only the 4 of here!
Valerie.... You know, if I had thought of it, I would have given you one of the Brother machines while you were here--tho it certainly isn't as nice as a Bernette--it would have at least been able to sew!!
( I have 4 sewing machines in my little back closet)!
Chriss.... I'll do windows, I'll even do toilets, but I absolutely HATE doing floors!! Katie next door has hired a cleaning lady and I'm tempted to hire her just to wash my floors!!! If I go to Hell, I'll be on my knees scrubbing floors for all eternity---with DEX behind me telling me I missed a spot! How did your follow up appointment go? Remember the old saying "Opinions are like a$$holes, every body has one!)
Lyn... Your photo's are awesome! I saved one to my cellphone so it's now my screensaver/wallpaper. The one with the mountains in the back ground! You sure had a perfect day for a trail ride!
Not much planned for today. I keep finding fun little things to sew--possible craft fair items, so I've made a mess on my cutting table. Lois got me hooked on the Dinner Scarves--so I've made 13 of them... Not sure if they will sell or not---if Not I'll see if a local assisted living center would like. I guess the Sr. Citizen Center is town has a craft fair so maybe I'll donate some stuff to their event. I'm just trying to use up fabric!!! Haven't quite decided on a next quilt project yet, so I'll play with little stuff in the meantime!
Time for more coffee and the kitchen needs to be tackled a bit this morning. A young gal in town is coming over sometime today--she's interested in learning machine embroidery, so I offered to show her how mine works. She wants to check it out before she buys one! Smart girl!
Wishing you all a Wonderful Wednesday!

Good morning!
Another technicolor day here in the mountain west! And the snow is falling on the ski resorts which makes all happy! Snow to ski on, spring water for the rest of us!
Not much here. Chilly enough that we turned on the fireplace to warm up the house. Not time for the main heater, yet. And the Batt Cave has the heat pump which is great! I have one window, in the Batt Cave, that has to be cleaned before the outside water is shut down for winter. It's my view of the mountains and it's so bad, that you think it's obscure glass for a bathroom! Most of the other windows in the Batt Cave are in the window wells, out of reach and with a pain you know where to unlock the window well covers, grates to unlock. Safety, to keep out the burglars.
Time to feed here. One laundry load left for this week.
Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Re: Wednesday October 1st
Good morning. September held out but finally caved in and now we are officially in the BER months. My favorite time of the year, fall. The sky is overcast hiding the sun which peeks out occasionally. I'm wearing my warm robe and sitting under a quilt enjoying this marvelous morning with my friends and coffee. I hope your day is starting out as wonderfully as mine is.
Yesterday was my surgeon post op appointment. This man is about 35-40 years old and good at his job. He told me I was healing nicely and that my chest xray looked good. He told me to keep going to cardio rehab, which I love, and no heavy lifting. He really works hard. His office called me last week to move my appointment from 9:30 to 1:30 because he had surgery. He finally got to see me about 3:30. But, if I were the patient having surgery I'd want him to hang with me instead of patients in his office. So I gladly wait. I don't need to see him again unless I need him. As wonderful as he is, I hope I don't need him,but I am thankful he is on my team.
Today, cardio rehab then over to visit the parents. I think, on my way home, I will pick up the fixings to make a stew. I can share with the parents, and we will have it for dinner tomorrow and probably the next day too. It's so difficult to make small amounts of anything.
Judi, sorry you didn't sleep well. hope that means you will sleep well tonight.
Flo, so glad BIL got his bears, today needs to be bathrooms and floors for me too. I'm going to give it a shot.
Maryz, you are a busy girl. Lyn's pictures are absolutely beautiful, but she got them posted all by herself. Wow, Miss Amara is well traveled, she must have a lot of stickers on her suitcase. Enjoy your lunch out.
Maryq, did you see the fatcat free pattern on FB? I downloaded it. Come visit me, bring the fabric you want to get rid of and hey, there's a bonus, I have windows and toilets right here, look no further. I do know the saying about opinions, yet it doesn't stop me from offering mine, ha ha. I need to work on that.
Jana, lately I've been living on the edge. I've gone places and left some windows open. My windows are up off of the ground so you'd need a step ladder. And I have a barking dog who threatens to bite your arm off but would rather like your face. There isn't anything of value in this house. I bet when the mountain get a cap of snow that will be a beautiful thing to watch as the sun comes up.
Time to start my day, dinner tonight might be the tuna salad that Judi put into my head yesterday.
You all have a marvy day

Good morning
Guess I missed yesterday. Thought about it a few times but never made it here. Lots of squirrels at my house I guess.
Chriss this is also my favorite time of the year. I have doors open though. It is really humid up here. Still in my night clothes but wishing I could just run around in my BD suit! Not good though with the doors all open. Glad to hear the good news that your relationship with the surgeon is over. But how will you know when you can start being the real you again? Nothing of value? What about you and Moose?
Jana while snow can be disastrous it sure is pretty. I only have a skylight in my bathroom. My sewing room has a window but I keep the blinds closed so the sun doesn't fade my fabrics.
Maryq Congratulations! My goal since I am retired is to sleep past 10 am! I am usually awake by 5:30 ish these days. When I was at your house I didn't really think I would be at Tony's so long. I was going to go get this surgery taken care of and then he was to go to a rehab center. Surprise! Surprise! But this is a nice backup machine that I can just leave there. I know the internet says it weighs 21# or so but I watched a you tube video that said just about 6 kg which is 13.2 pounds. My friend (84 yrs young) bought one and she can lift it. I won't be lifting it a lot like I do my other one so I think it will be fine.
Lyn I haven't seen your photos yet but looking forward to them.
Judi I had difficulty going to sleep last night but once I got to sleep it was okay. For those of you who use CPAP do you use the accompanying APP. I am getting a lot of 100's lately. That is the highest score you can get. I have no idea how accurate it is but it keeps me wearing mine. It's the challenge I guess.
Maryz updates on your dr appointment?
Flo you are such a sweetheart.
Well today I am going to my Go Cube BOM class. I got everything cut and ready for the next two blocks. Also got Catalina's quilt all cut and ready to go to Vegas. Funny, when I was getting the fabric together for the Go class I found what appeared to be a backing. I remembered buying it but couldn't remember what quilt it was for. So after I got my cutting done for the day, I started on putting away all my new fabrics I bought on my trip and getting the sewing room in order. Low and behold I found a bag with the pattern that I had bought with Cataleia in mind. I forgot all about buying that. So I guess now she will have two. DH wants me to make one for the new GGD that is coming in April (yes SD GD). Shhhhuuush! I am not supposed to tell anyone. But she is so picky I told her to look around on Pinterest and the internet and find what she wants and then let me know. My guess is that will never happen but we will see. DH will probably bug our son until he gets an answer.
But for now, I have to get in the shower and still going through the sewing room. Straightening out the batik bin so I can put all the new ones I bought with Maryq away. I have lots of small scraps that I will just take to the bin at the shop. The guild uses them to stuff dog beds for the shelter. Have a great day everyone.

Re: Wednesday October 1st
Yesterday afternoon I pulled a picture off the wall at my parents house. It's an embroidered landscape with a little wheel house. On the back there is a note from my mom. It says, "Mom sketched this then did the stitching. I had it framed and hung it on our kitchen for years. Your turn!" It was made in 1976. Almost 50 years later it's in my kitchen.
I had to got get an X-ray and labs this morning. I came home and walked Jack, then had my coffee. The Cubs won the first game in the series yesterday and will play at 1pm today. So I'll be watching the game then. I might run the vacuum a bit before that. I also need to take down the curtains in the front room and put them in the wash, but then I'll need to wash the windows too. Thing just snowball. Dinner will be grilled chicken and potatoes.
Maryz, I've used my grandmother's dishes, but not enough to want to have them as a second set. She like to have parties and entertain all the time, so she used the a lot. There are some pasta bowls up the street that were my great grandmother's. I'll be keeping those, and now I have room for them.
Flo, sounds like you had a great visit. How nice that he got to get bears made from shirts he remembers. Very special.
Judi, I was looking at the flying geese pattern the other day. I have an Accuquilt die I can use to cut them. It makes it easier for me. Plus there is less waste. Maybe you'll sleep longer tonight.
Maryq, I beat you. I was up and dressed by 0730. That's usually my wake up time.
Lyn, those are great photos. What a special day that must have been.
Chriss, I hope you never have to see that doctor again too. Stew sounds good. Maybe I get the fixings for that too. Glad you are recovering well and are enjoying your PT.
Jana, yay for snow. The mountains are so pretty when they are covered.
Valerie, you're probably having a good time sewing by now. Two quilts are better than one. lol We use to bring scraps for dog beds to quilt guild.
Well I need to get busy. Have a wonderful day.
