Good morning,

Pets are fed, dishwasher emptied, first cup of coffee downed. Now it's chat time!

Some thoughts occurred to me yesterday - and I've done this. Those of us who are looking to "rehome" clothing, dishes, decor items, even furniture - high school drama departments can use some things for costumes and stage settings. Also Community Theaters. And Food Banks often know of families who need clothing and household items. As do churches. Just some thoughts. I had several dressy dresses at one time and donated those to the school for girls who couldn't afford prom dresses. The school was kind enough to call me after the prom to tell me that 3 girls were able to go to the dance wearing those dresses. All better options than the dump.

LORI - good thing Wrigley was on the job to alert you to your dead CO monitor - you know - just in case you didn't hear the alarm. Good boy, Wrigley!!

MARY Q - didn't you say once that your kids just unlocked your door and let Zara in so she could spend the day with you? She would quickly learn to just lay down quietly until it's time to wake Sleeping Beauty with a slobbery kiss. :D I was thinking of making my sisters bibs using half of a thin bath towel for each one, and adding neck ties, apron string style. Kind of a joke when I first got the idea, but as time has marched on, not such a funny joke anymore! Now I need one for myself! Love your Christmas quilt!

CHRISS - nice that you received a Wreaths Across America dinner. Enjoy that! When Lee & Lara lived in D.C. they volunteered to lay those wreaths. A moving and worthwhile experience. Just as an FYI, we priced having our 2 loveseats recovered. They are a simple, basic style - $8,000. And that was 5 years ago. Our new full length couch and 4 recliners (upstairs and downstairs) all together cost less than that (on Labor Day sale). I'm not surprised you tire easily. I'm sure they told you it could take many months, even a year, to regain your former level of energy. When I had my hystie back in 1997, it turned into a kind of big surgery. It took 8 months before I felt myself again. And the older we get, the longer it takes to heal. I remember when Marilyn came to visit for Thanksgivingmas. How is she doing now?

LYN - glad the trail ride was such a success and your fun day with Amanda, shopping. Phone dictation does take a little practice, and if you speak too slowly it will print out punctuation instead of the symbol. But once you get the hang of it, it simplifies and saves much time. BTW, back to CO monitors - we do have them. Bill reminded me . .

VAL - Your week at home will go quickly. You will have lots to do plus I'm sure you'll be making many phone calls to DBIL checking on him and reminding him to take meds, etc.

JANA - excitement over. Sticker shock on the fancy Christmas lights got to Bill. Since the LED C-9's we got at Costco are still shining brightly, we're staying with them. They are paid for! But we still, hopefully, have the A-Team coming, just don't know when. Or really, even IF. They took a 2-week vacation in June. And Aut, as the director, has a lot of balls in the air managing two libraries and all that staff, plus projects and events each library is holding. So we just are waiting to hear if they can make it work.

JUDI - I'm kind of hurt that I wasn't invited to Chriss's in your dream. After all, I live closer than any of the rest of you and I even know where she lives! I could have brought a coffee cake. :( And a bummer about accidentally buying a second JA kit. Did you by any chance ask anyone at your guild the other night if they wanted to buy it off you before you pay to return it to Q? Glad you beat down the LC block. The other three will be a snap now!

LOIS - did you find lots of wonderous stuff on your shopping circuit yesterday? And yes, if A&A&A visit it will be a busy holiday, whether it's actually holiday time or not. :D We're going to make it holiday time!

FLO - how long will your company be visiting?

Yesterday I cut out peppermint candy blocks. And sewed a few 6-block CW sections together, prepping them to add a few more "windows" at the connections sites. So much easier to work on these in smaller sections and then combine them into ever increasing larger portions of the quilt. I will soon (maybe in about 10 days) be halfway done. We hit Costco for a few items, then Kohl's for new pillowcases and bathroom rug. We treated ourselves to new flannel sheets a few days ago, and put them on the bed yesterday, but we needed pillowcases. Then we had 4 hours to rest, read, sew, before our HH friends came. What a great visit we had. L&L joined us, too.

Today - no plans at all! I hope to get my 6 candy blocks together, which means next up in the pattern booklet after them is Judi's 4 log cabin blocks. I'll also work on my CW's, and I got a big fat skein of yarn at Goodwill the other day. Just for practice. I want to see if I can resurrect my scant crochet skills. I haven't crocheted anything in over 30 years but lately it's been calling to me. Supper is going to be leftover sandwiches, eggs, olives, pickles, etc. Today is our last nice day. Tomorrow, temps drop into 60's and the rains return. I'm ready, but then again, I'm not. I love living on our deck.

Have a lovely Sunday!

Good morning!

A sad day here. Just read that our beloved prophet and president of the church passed away late last night. He had just celebrated his 101st birthday a week ago. He was a great man, and pioneered many of the heart medical procedures that are common in today's surgeries. President Nelson was a heart surgeon, before he served as our church leader. Some of the surgery procedures he pioneered were heart bypasses and valve replacement and repairs.

I got all my uglies done yesterday. And while I was flipping between channels and football games, came across QVC, which had a Christmas segment on and saw a idea for a "flat Christmas tree, made from just lights on a wall. Well, the crafter in me cane out and I started figuring how how to make one by me. Then the engineer came up with a better suggestion of making a light tree on the deck. That's what we'll run with for decorating the deck. Then Daniel stopped over, and we explained the idea and he said, easy peasy. Now to buy the lights, so Daniel and I can build it. The idea is a common one, you've seen, usually off a 2nd story roof. Light strings are gathered at the end, tightly, then spread out, forming a shape, triangle, of a tree. Narrow top, wide bottom. See, I'm dangerous when it comes to Christmas decorating!

Church is later and the hymns are all ones I know and love. Easy for me. Then next week is General Conference.

Hopefully I sew some today. Utah won, BYU won but, Utah State lost. 49ers play, but again, I don't get to watch. Last day of baseball season, and my Giants just missed out of the post season. 9h well, there's next year.

Hugs,
Jana

Jana, sorry for you loss. Sounds like he had a good life. Glad you figured out the Christmas decoration. I think I know what you are going to do.

Judi, your weather sounds perfect. I think cleaning the refrigerator is my most hated chore. I took everything out and thoroughly clean my a couple months back. I need to do a mini clean again to keep it up.

Maryz, good idea on the "rehome" ideas. I think an estate sale will be the way I go.

I didn't sew yesterday. I did some other things. Today I want to work on my watercolor. Learning how to mix paint to get the right colors. I found my mom's paint brushes and paints a few weeks ago. I have been using her brushes. Her paint are oil and I don't even want to try that. I can still smell the paint and linseed oil she used when she painted. Today is the final day of regular baseball. We'll watch the Cub game this afternoon. The post season starts this week. The Cubs made it to the wild card spot. We'll see how they do. We didn't have steaks last night, so I'll make them tonight. We're heading off to the park with the boys.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning. It's going to be a great day today. I love mornings, they are so peaceful. Nothing and no one is out and about yet. Every so often I hear a bird chirp or see a dragon fly go by, I sit here with the house opened up and my quilt on my lap a freshly filled coffee cup and my friends on my laptop screen. I'm thankful for the life God has given me.

I've made a to-do list, nothing too exciting and I have nothing but time so someday it will get done.

Marq, I love that Christmas quilt. Did you hand embroider the blocks? It's just adorable. I'm glad you mentioned cleaning the blinds. Perhaps I will rethink the blind valance idea.

Lori, I did have my not poked potato. I think it's neat that your mom left notes on things. Makes cleaning out closets an adventure with answers. Marilyn is doing well. I wish she lived in a more populated area with more opportunities, but she loves where she lives and is happy and it's her life. I have to remind myself that she is only 22. Nice that Wrigley was on alarm patrol, where was Jack during all the commotion? When I handled Grandma's estate the way to go was an estate sale too. The person doing the sale took 1/3 of the earnings. But they also priced everything and ran the sale. In town the Methodist womens club handles estate sales but they don't come here. I love that you still smell the linseed oil and paint. Smells bring back some amazing memories.

Maryz, sounds like you had a nice yesterday. Still too early for flannel sheets here, but I do love them. Quite a hunk of money to have something reupholstered. I agree, I will just buy a new couch. Whatever I get it will be the last one I ever buy. But first I will finish up the kitchen. One room at a time. Our Soroptimist club gathers prom dresses for girls, they loan the dresses and the girls can either return them or pay something like $20 and keep them. The Soroptimist has totes full of dresses.

Judi, I love that old glass like you have in the kitchen cabinets. I also love a clean shiny refrigerator. Nice to have your son there to help, I would love if my kids came to scrub or vac or mop or anything.

Jana, wow, 101 is a long life. I'm going to google him, While I am sorry he passed it sounds like he had a very productive life. Ok, couldn't wait, I googled him. He pioneered the heart/lung machine. They used that during my surgery. Very cool. I want to see your Christmas tree idea. My grandma had one that was made with small tin pot pie sized things in a pyramid shape and each one had a Christmas light in them. Curious to see yours.

Lois, yum for meatballs and sauce. Funny, you said good afternoon but it's just a little after 9am here.

Time to start my day. I'll have some breakfast, then I will work on my to do list. Yesterday afternoon I took a nap. Dinner will be the meal I was brought yesterday. Steak, greenbeans with bacon and tomato and mac n cheese. Moose will love licking that plate, and he will get the fat from the steak, It's good to be him.

You girls have a fab day,
Chriss

Good morning although it really isn't. My house is a disaster. Threw out two drawers of vegetables, half a pack of Spinach, 5 container of yogurt, drawer full of lunch meats and cheeses. The kitchen sink was sickening. Guarantee it hasn't even been rinsed since I was gone. Nevermind the bathroom. So before I go back to Vegas I have to reclean everything. Next time I will just pay the neighbor to watch the house. So I will spend most of my week cleaning instead of what I had planned.

I am hoping to at least get the rest of the Sun flower 🌼 quilt cut out and the new babies. Chriss will like Cataleia's as it's all butterflies 🦋. Then I can just sew at Tony's when I go back. If I can manage it. I was going to try and go to my events Mon, Tues. and Wed at the shop but that won't happen.

Well lesson learned. I still gotta clean the grate that goes in the sink so I can cook in the kitchen. Oh and the floor. I will check in when I can. I know I am Miss Negative today and I am 😞. Should have went to church ⛪️.

Have a great day everyone
