Good morning It is sunny high in the 80s again but a bit cooler only 83 and our nights are cooling off just a bit. Cycadas are singing in the evening, It appears that summer is winding down a bit. But it still is for cast 80s and maybe a 90 here and there, It has been a hot summer here. Michigan doesnt usually have this hot weather for long stretches. I dont even want to see my AC bill..this month.
I was out and about yesrterday getting Navy's birthday gift and groceries. then didnt really get much done after that, Need to do some cleaning today,
Ken came home sick he tested negative for covid but has some sort of flu bug i think. I have had him and I on an immune building vitamin for a few years since covid, But he being smarter than the average bear quit taking them. Now being at an ic e rink with kids from all over the world in tournaments he is in the thick of germville and you would think he would stay on the Vitc, Zinc, and Vit D to keep from catching all the crud they bring in. But no he is sick again. I am hoping he feels better and maybe just maybe he has learned his lesson.
I have one more sleep with the dogs and although they are good and very loving ,,,I am done with fur babies til the next time...
Have a wonderful day do some fun stuff, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOO

Morning
Rough week here. It started out ok with DDIL surgery, but Tues when I was watching DGD she started hitting me when I said no to ice cream before lunch. DGD us over 6 feet tall, outweighs me and she 12 and nonverbal autistic. Joe stepped in and now for awhile he must be here for DGD to be dropped off. DGD was here yesterday with DDIL but day was better.
Wednesday I did get to sewing room, finished 3 of 4 bears. Posted pic on Facebook page.
Diane, I'm thinking of you.

Good morning to all.
FLO--you have not had the last couple of years easy at all. I hope DDIL is getting better each day. DGD is a problem not to easy to change. Is she on a therapy of sorts whether drugs or not? Because of her strength and size please be cautious.
MARYZ--Fran is looking into the missing package. I don't know the people who live there now but it was left by their front door. If they returned it to the carrier or just kept it I don't know. Fran the "detective finder" will have answers. She like a hound dog when it comes to PO stuff.
I'm doing great from what I'v read. I see the surgeon Weds. Does she release me then or would I see her again?
Thank you for your much needed support!!!
Diane

Good morning,

It is 62* here this morning and pouring rain. And it should only go to about 68* this afternoon. Seems like a quilty kind of day and maybe a homemade pizza sort of day, too.

FLO - you have had a week of it, haven't you. I hope things improve with your DGD. This must be difficult for your family.

JUDI - happy birthday to little Navy. It's so fun to shop for our little grands, isn't it. Would be fun to get her together with Amara. Bummer about Ken being sick again. I just hope he doesn't get all "share-y" with you! Hug the furry littles for me!

VAL - Glad you got some good sleep. It's good medicine! As a nurse, you know that healing takes place during sleep. And having just 'treated' ourselves to a refurbished (rebuilt by Mopar) turbo last Nov, you bet I am praying for yours to not have been shot to death! Ugh. Ours was $6,000. We were traveling to TX at the time, stopped in CO to visit family. Fortunately, the mechanic is my DBIL's "adopted" son so we know him pretty well, been on ATV riding trips with him. He took good care of us. We were lucky. This is the same trip where, 4 weeks later, we were rear-ended in Austin, TX. Make sure you take your St. Christopher medal with you!!

CHRISS - did you find anything you couldn't live without at the estate sale yesterday? I wonder where your little cat family lives? If they are feral or belong to a neighbor. If I had seen those 3 little kittens, and mama cat, too, they would probably be still sleeping on my bed! Did you know I love cats? πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸˆβ€β¬› Please give your dad my phone number, too. Or Richard. Or both. And what does, "if you can't get out" mean as far as qualifying for home care? If you can't drive, you can't get out. If you have a blizzard, you can't get out. It must fall somewhere in between. But I would opt for it if there's anyway you can get it paid for. Add me to the list of always having cheese in the fridge. Love my cheese! I even like good limberger. (we went cheese tasting in Wisconsin once and had a thick limburger sandwich. It was actually delicious. Not like what we get in the grocery store.

JANA - I hope you know, we will all be at the party in spirit, drifting around, sniffing that food table, admiring your quilts! Don't step on us!

LORI - did you get your BLT's for supper? And Chriss mentioned BLOAT. That sounds good, too. We made do with pork fried rice.

My computer screen keeps flickering and it's getting worse. Going to post this half of my post just to get it up there. Then will try the second half in a minute.

Hi again,

I sure hope my 'puter isn't dying!

DIANE - glad you've got your best detective on the case. I PM'd you my phone number so you can text me whatever you find out. I'll be standing by.

LORI - as I was saying . . . sorry the class was disappointing. What kind of class was it? Glad you are getting in some sewing time even if you have to ignore other things. A week or two ago you were ignoring your sewing!

my screen is flickering more and more. Oh please, computer, you are only a couple years old. Hang in there!

LYN - glad the boat is squared away for the winter. Hope you enjoy your last few days in Canada. Safe travels when you hit the road!

JANA - what's the news on the fire? We have a big fire going in Western WA - so far it's about 6,000 acres burned over 5 weeks and 3% contained. It's an hour's drive from us.

MARY Q - did you sew aprons yesterday? How many do you think you'll make? I always wonder when I have one of those "small world moments" how many near encounters we miss! But wouldn't it be funny - and a great thing because I like her so much - if my PT turned out to be my second cousin? The only cousin I have now is another Mary, my step-third cousin, who I also like very much.

LOIS - clever of you to think of rewinding the bobbin! I hope that did the trick.

I'm hoping today that we can get the QOV on the LA frame. Bill is going to quilt this one with a meander with stars in it. After all the name of this quilt is called Hero's Stars. I will work on prepping more white CW bases. I put about 6 together at a time and stitch those down. Easier to handle than doing more. I'll put these sections together as I finish them.

My back & hips are a little better. PT is really helping. Also, my chiroprator read an article that claimed 1/2 tsp baking soda in water every morning helps with inflammation. He said he was experimenting with that on himself before recommending it to anyone and it was only his first day. But I thought what's to lose? So I'm trying that, too. Whatever is doing it, my pain level is better, I'm going upstairs better, and taking less pain relievers. I have PT again today. And homemade pizza will be our supper.

Have a good day. I'm going to close up this computer and pray it starts up for me again later.

This is a small section of my cathedral windows.

Image

Those pointy white flaps on the right and bottom will be machine sold to matching pointy white flaps on the next section. Then the flaps will be tacked down and colored squares hand stitched on top. Does that make sense?

Good morning!

Cloudy and thunderstorm weather. We got a few drops last night. More today and the proverbial they say, the chance of thunderstorm on Saturday is lessening, depending on which station you watch. Ugggh! So the house is almost party ready.

Last night as we went to bed, we heard a odd chirping. Our smoke alarms usually only make one chirping, then awhile later another chirp. This one is doing three chirps, about 15 minutes apart, all night long! So Mr G is fussing and wants it changed. Hopefully Ethan can come down, so Mr G stays off the ladder. I can ignore the chirp!

So not much here,

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning Girls

Happy Friday!! Man this week went by fast!! Going to be another HOT one today, windows open for now, but soon I'll have to shut them up and turn on the AC!

Judi... Not looking forward to seeing my electric bill either!! I'm on a budget plan, where I pay the same thing every month and I don't get a paper statement in the mail, so I have NO idea how much my bill really is! Tho I could go on line and check it--I'm kind of scared to!! :D Sorry Ken is sick again.... Flu like the "bathroom" kind or the flu like cough, cold, runny nose stuff? Either way, not fun for YOU!!!

Flo... Your bears are so cute. I noticed the picture of your DGD on FB and it's nice to connect a name to a face now. She is very tall! I'm sure it very difficult to express her feelings and frustrations and they only thing to do is to physically strike back. You are loving grandparents for her.

Diane.... Hope you are doing well, healing a little bit every day. Hope Fran can track down your package, but I have sneaky feeling that if it was delivered to the old address, and somebody opened it, they've kept a gorgeous quilt!!!

Maryz.... I didn't even make it into the sewing room yesterday. Spent most of the day in the car. I forget how many aprons I've cut out, but it's going to be a while before I get them to the machine. I have to fold and iron 2 waist ties, 1 neck tie/strap, then iron all the edges all the way around before I can stitch anything down. I remember when you got that computer!! What does your tech support guy think? I recognize some of those prints in your CW!

Chriss.... The waiting for everything to line up has to be frustrating, now that the decision has been made to have the surgery. Seems a little crazy to me that the insurance company has to pre approve a heart surgery that the Dr.s--who are way smarter--know you should have!!! I knew a guy once that fell off the roof, and the insurance company didn't want to pay for his hospital claim because he didn't "pre approve" a trip to the emergency room!! seriously!!!!! He was fine by the way. Did you find any good stuff at the Estate Sale. I was going to stop by a really neat thrift store when I was out yesterday, but decided I didn't NEED any so I came right home!

Jana.... good idea to have Ethan come climb on a ladder. One of the smoke alarms at my house is up near the ceiling and a 16' ceiling at that!!! No way can I get up there!! If the battery alarm goes off in the middle of the night, I'm leaving the house and going to the kids house down the street---or heck even next door to Katie's--she has a guest room!! Hope your party is a hug success!

Not sure what the plan of the day is here. It's super muggy and I think we may get some rain later this afternoon, which would be ok, we could use it. It costs a small fortune to water our grounds here, so we prefer God's sprinkler system. I'll probably iron some aprons, maybe set up the embroidery machine to make some more earring for the craft fair. Tom and Viv are in town for the weekend to spend time with Bren and Evie before they head off to college, so I'm sure I'll will see them today.

For now, It's time to rotate laundry!

Wishing you all a fabulous Friday!

Good morning. I am enjoying this cooler morning and evening weather, It's still a bit warm during the day but I am loving having the windows open. Guess things are just a tradeoff sometimes.

I was unable to fix my recliner yesterday. I turned it on all of it's sides to try to reach the problem and had no luck. I think it's a job for Super Dad. Or it's a trip to the furniture store. Boy I would love to have new living room furniture. Just a couch and two recliners. Or a couch and two big chairs with ottomans. Perhaps that will be my goal in the coming year.

Moose is not thrilled with the whole recliner situation. I switched Jerry's and my recliner and every time I move Jerry's recliner makes a noise, Moose stares at me. It's kind of weird.

This morning I will get my fans dusted. That and mopping my floors will complete the things I have to get done. Also today I have a cardio appointment and need a few groceries. I have a call in to get my cat scan scheduled. Hoping they call me soon. I don't like to be a pest, but I am going to be a pest until I get things done.

Yay, dad just called. He's going to let me clean his house. He hasn't wanted m to clean because he wants me to rest but boy, I'm so glad he will let me do it.

Judi, hope Ken feels better soon. Kids are certainly germ carriers. Our temps also seem to be dryer and warmer too. I heard a cicada the other day and was hoping that it meant fall was on the way. Our sign for winter is tarantula's. People here get excited and know fire season is over when they come out.

Flo, sorry about the episode with DGD. hoping that was a one time thing. Glad Joe was there. I'll check out your bears when I am done here.

Diane, glad you're doing great, hope the package issue gets resolved.

Maryz, do you need a new computer or is it just flickering to keep you wondering. Those kittens haven't been back. I have a neighbor across the street who has a zillion indoor cats, Imagine that smell. Sometimes they come over here to scope things out but I think he feeds them too well. Glad you are feeling a bit better. Will there be hip surgery in your future? Love the scrappy WOW on your CW's.

Jana, glad things are in order for the party, I think I might be looking forward to it as much as you are. I can't wait to see the pictures.

Maryq, I found a couple of patterns at the estate sale, I spent $3. They did have an Elna sewing machine. They wanted $150, but when I said no they were willing to go to $75. I will check back on Sunday because everythign will be half off then. I'll pay $30 for the machine but not more than that. I really don't need it, and I may just let it go. It is crazy that the guy needed authorization for the trip down the ladder. I got a EOB from Medicare yesterday for Jerry from 2023. If I get a bill I will mark it not at this address and put it in a mail box. So what if they put him in collections. So what if they put me in collections. I don't buy on credit so don't need a credit rating. You really are making some fun things for your craft fair. hope you sell out and come home with totes full of money.

I think I will get dressed and go see what I can pick out of the garden to take to dad's house. Have some breakfast and get a couple of things done here. Then it's off to town to get things done there. Dinner tonight will be spaghetti with zucchini noodles.

Have a grand day,
Chriss

Chriss, Bummer you couldn't fix the recliner. I too would love a new couch, but that would require me to go look for one. I just don't want to do that right now. Moose apparently doesn't like change. People selling sewing machines don't realize they don't keep their value. BTW, the file cabinet is empty now. One of them anyway.

Judi, we've had an unseasonable cooler summer. I think I've only had the A/C on about 6 or 7 times this summer. It's only getting up to 78 today. Very unusual for mid August. Bummer Ken isn't feeling well. Tell him to keep it to himself.

Maryq, I can't believe Evie and Bren are off to college. It seems like they were just in elementary school last year. I guess it's been longer than that.

Jana, I want to know why they put the smoke detectors in the highest place in the house. It seems a little ridiculous to me. It always goes off in the middle of the night. We don't have high ceilings in our house and only have one smoke detector in the hallway.

Maryz, nice work on those windows. The class was taught by Sandra Bruce. It was called Scrap Vortex. She really didn't teach much of anything. Glad PT is helping you. And no, I didn't make the BLT's last night because I forgot.

Diane, glad to hear you doing well.

Flo, sounds like you had your hands full for a few days.

I did my grocery shopping this morning. Made it to the Italian market and Trader Joe's. Came home and had some toast. I will work on my Halloween quilt today. I didn't sew yesterday. I did go throw out quite a bit of files at dads though. He never cleaned out the files. Just bought my file cabinets. lol
Dinner tonight will be the BLT's. Last night we had chili since I forgot I wanted the BLT's.

Have a lovely evening.
