Thursday 8/14/25

Post by WeSignificant » Thu Aug 14, 2025 5:55 am

Good Thursday morning, I see the site is sluggish again today. It feels like I do. I was so tired with a headache last night I went to bed at 6:30. Got up at 4:30, feel better but might need to do that more often. Thought if I just laid down and read a bit headache would go away. Nope, needed to sleep.

Chriss I am hoping the whole truck is working better! But it would be fun to have every body come. "Stuck" is "stock" and already there. Jana and Lori would probably get things here faster. Now I need everyone to pray that the turbo is okay. That might be a deal breaker if it's not. We have Ferals here from time to time but I don't really want them to stick around. Our squirrels are pretty okay. I see two occasionally. Yes I agree, too many idiots running the country, Maybe the whole world. I keep saying if they just put ME in charge, all would be fine.

Maryq yes, no early trips to the warehouse! Well, but you could go twice I suppose. I can't believe Best Press is that inexpensive. Not a lot of places since JoAnn's closed carry it here. Wal Mart used to but I haven't seen it there is quite sometime.

Jana it would be so much fun if we all could all go to your party. But Alas, I must stay here and keep the dodge dealer and insurance company in line! Poor Mr. G, it must be difficult for him at times. I can't imagine what having a dementia type illness feels like to the person. But God's got him covered.

Diane did your package get located?

Today is open sew day and slow stitch. I will work on the guitar quilt and bring the baby quilt to hopefully get the binding on. Have been spending time pulling stuff for packing and will continue on that quest until time to leave.

But for now, I am really hungry and must eat something. Hope the site speeds up. Have a great day.

Good morning!

Site for me has been normal, quick loading for me this morning. Sun is up and shining. Lots of smoke in the air. A fire started in North Ogden, about a hour from me last night. There's one too over near Park City. The wind can't make its mind up as to which way to blow. The Ogden fire was caused by a car fire on a dirt road. This Ogden fire is fairly close to Sarah's in-laws, about 5 miles or so. So they're ok.

I have ironing to do and just maintenance on the rest of the house. So not much around here.

Valerie - hope all the pieces parts get there quickly. Turbos are quite fussy. Matt has replaced 2 on his Dodge truck.

Judi - it's so nice that little girls love dresses! I have some of those little girls!

Well, I'm off, Mr G is up, needing food.

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning,

I have been up since early but was tired so I sat yesterday I was starting my quilt and after I little bit the machine wasn't sewing right so I took all the stitches out and started trouble shooting so today I came back up did all my stuff and I finally got the idea to rewind bobbins so that was it so now I'm ready to go.
It's nice up here today so I will be up here for a bit then I will go downstairs take a rest and do it that way.

Well that's it for me.
Have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.

Good morning,

DIANE - how are you feeling? I hope you read my PM and by now have found your quilt. I sent it to Bonnie Bridge Circle. That is the address that QIAD has listed for you.

CHRISS - that's a lucky omen, you know, to open up your door and find 3 little kittens! Hopefully, they all had their mittens! Sounds like we have a busload going to Jana & Michael's party! Are you going down the BBQ side of the table or the taco side. I wonder if it would be poor form if we went down both. . . Yes, California has a lot of good things going for it - mountains, coast, agriculture, beautiful scenery, and some awesome wines, especially in Amador and El Dorado counties. I am glad you are lining up folks to help you after your surgery. But Scottie is worried about Moose - who will be watching him? Can he go to your dad's with you, post-op? And Jana is right! Cardio PT post-op is definitely a must! Your heart is a muscle and it needs to gain it's strength back. But I'm sure they will explain all of that and much more.

VAL -Gosh! - that seems pretty expensive since you were just an innocent "by-parker". So, some parts are being ordered from Detroit, some from LA, and some are from stock? And you are up to about $5,000 and counting? Any chance of nailing the person who shot up your truck? I really hope your turbo is OK. We had to replace ours last Nov while visiting my sisters in CO - $6,000. BTW - you don't need to carry along a book of quilt shops, unless you want to. There is an app for that! Needle Travel! I used to have it on my phone, but I think it disappeared when I got a new phone a few years ago. I need to reload that. So thanks for reminding me of that!

MARY Q - that is a good price for Best Press. I really like the scented ones. They make my room smell so nice when I'm ironing but then I don't have any sensitivities to anything - except BP meds. Even the little aprons I would think could sell for more than $7. Just this week I noticed our Ace Hardware sells a variety of aprons for a variety of prices - $28 to $39. They all were full, with bibs.

JANA - Good point about the cardio PT. Are you all ready for the party? It IS Day after tomorrow, isn't it? Saturday? That's funny about Mr. G hanging your wall hanging backwards. I guess that's a compliment to your stitching. My gramma, according to my mom, said the back should look as good as the front, though she was referring to embroidery and other needlework.

JUDI - Our slide is still broken. Looks like we need a new coupling assembly that drives the shaft. Did I sound like I know what I'm talking about? Bill ordered a new one - $250 - but he's going to take the old one to a machine shop today and see if they can fix it so he has a back-up part to carry around with us. If this doesn't fix it, we're going to take you up on your offer to have Ken fix it! lol!! But let's not tell him yet. Let him wait and be surprised! I swear I can smell your bread baking!

Yesterday I got Lee's QOV quilt all ready for quilting (borders and backing). I will make a special label today. We have a few days of rainy, aka, quilting weather moving in so we should be able to get it all finished soon. I also prepped more CW's. I'm using 9" squares of white, not 5" squares. There are methods that use white charms like the one in MSQC's magazine, but I'm going with the 9" squares. It's a lot of white but it also leaves your project quilted and backed when you are done - no further backing or quilting needed. Instead of using all one white, I'm using up my scraps and small pieces of WOW first. That way, if I run short, I won't have to go crazy trying to find more to match - I can just buy any WOW. I also had PT yesterday. How such a gentle touch can be so effective is amazing. I checked my Ancestry site and found a wedding photo of the two brothers that may be from my therapist's family who married two of my grandmother's sisters (my great aunts). I shared that photo of both couples with her. She is as fascinated with genealogy as I am. She used to live across the road from me, and her PT office is on property owned by my grandfather in 1902-1908 (which borders my present day property). The world is small!

Lee and Lara returned yesterday and will be here for about 3 weeks before they leave again. Such fun having them close! I am excited to give him his QOV quilt.

Time for more coffee and then a shower. I hope something good happens to us all today!

Good morning Girls

Oh boy, did I oversleep this morning!!! I looked at the clock once and thought I had a few more minutes before the coffee was done and woke up an hour later!!! So I better type fast this morning so I can get in the shower and go run a few errands. My Friend Peggy has shingles so I'm going to run down to her house and help her apply some Lidocaine patches to the painful spots on her back.

Valerie... Wow you were UP and online early !! Somedays when I log on here, it's really slow and I often wonder if it's my internet, but today it feels pretty zippy! Oh what a hassle with the truck! For your sake I hope the Turbo is ok, the cost of fixing that would take a big chunk out of fabric shopping-if you are even still able to make the trip. Have you ever tried Excderin for a head ache---back in the day when I used to get them often, Excedrin was my drug of choice. If that wasn't available a big shot of caffeine (coffee or coke) and a couple Tylenol would sometimes do the trick. And Yes... if you don't have "Needle Travel" on your phone!! Download from the App store!!

Judi... OH so fun to buy little girl dresses!!! Can't believe that little girl is 3yrs old already. Is she Ryker's sister? Trying to remember who goes with whom! Your seamstress friend wants to make a quilt and she's starting with a T-shirt quilt? Baptism by fire I'd say! The biggest thing she'll get used to is 1/4" seam instead of 5/8". I'm kind of hoping my niece's Norah is a "girly-girl" so I can sew some dresses for her---I've already collected some patterns!

Jana... Sarah has a fire 5 miles from her??? Yikes, that's close!!! Does your yoohoodie go empty itself? The robot my kids have just goes and parks herself when she's done and empties at the same time. There are days when I wish I had one here, but robots do not like threads and I have a ton of those!!

Maryz.... Won't Lee be surprised when he receives the beautiful quilt to honor his service to our country! Thank him from all of us as well! I have Needle Travel on my phone and used it all over Montanna the year I went there twice! It sure comes in handy. $28 for a little apron??? When I made the cross body ones, I sold those for $22 I think. I'm just looking to get rid of stuff!! I'm making all the aprons from 30's prints that Katie gave me, so other than thread and time--I have no expense in making them. How cool that you've found "relatives" Kind of makes sense that you'd be somehow related as they live so close and are on your dad's old properties. When I first went back to work, I discovered I was related to my boss---- Her Mom and I were 3rd cousins! through my dad's Mom. I even found papers in my Dad's stuff with her Mom's name on them. Bren graduated with my boss's daughter 5th cousins once removed.

Chriss.... Glad to hear that you will be able to stay at Dad's for recovery. I worry about you being home alone. I wonder if they can set up some home care for you as well---if insurance will cover. Happy to hear that you have folks close by as well! Can you ask Richard or someone to text one of us to let us know how you are doing after surgery! I'll definitely be doing "laps on the beads".

Guess I better get going.. it's 1030 and I still need to do hair and face, then go help Peggy. Am thinking I might need to pick up some groceries today as my fridge right now only has some eggs, cheese (we're never out of cheese here) and a few apples!!

Wishing you all the very best today!

MARYZ--I moved from that house over 8 years ago. I never even thought to change the address with QIAD.
Did you use PO or USPS?? As to your PM I never got it. Please try again. Did you get mine??

DIANE - sorry if I sent your pkg to the wrong address. It's the only address QIAD had for you. I guess this might be a lesson to all of us - if we've moved or changed our mailing address, we should update it with Q. No, I didn't receive a PM from you. I do have the tracking # (mailed it USPS Priority) but after it's been delivered, which it was on Aug 7, that is of no use. Can you go to your old house and see if new owners will give you the package? I doubt they would pay to return it to me. If you can't find it soon I will replace it.
Please check your PM's again. I'm sending you another one.

Cloudy and windy.

Chriss, It sounds like you are getting everything in place for your surgery. Will be sending prayers.

Jana, I was thinking the same thing as MaryZ. I want to go both ways, tacos and BBQ. Would we get penalized, like no dessert?

Diane, I would go knock on your old door and ask for your package. I sometimes over look the little message box in the top right corner of this site and don't realize I have a message. Hope your messages get to you from MaryZ.

Yesterday we 3 went after the boat. No problem crossing the border. The Lake of the Woods Marine is a few miles west of Baudette, about 100 miles from the resort we are at. Got everything setup with them and asked where's a good place for lunch. The guy suggested Ballard's Resort a couple blocks away. It over looks Rainy River. Rainy River is the border line. You definitely need a GPS on your boat so you stay on the U.S. side. Food was good. Filled the gas tank, stopped to pick up a couple things at the store, that we can't get here. Got to the border crossing and the guy wanted to know how much I had spent. I offered to give him my receipts, but quickly looked at them and it was under $100. Gave me our passports back and said have a nice day. The guy should know that if I had bought it in Canada, it would have cost me less because of the exchange rate. DUH Just doing his job.

I slept in. I have a couple free days before I have to pack up to leave Monday. Sewing is on my list.
Prayers for your needs.

Valerie, enjoy your slow stitch today. I sure hope the truck gets fixed and runs perfectly. Sleep seems to be the best medicine sometimes.

Judi, nice that you'll have someone to confer with about making the t-shirt quilt. It will be fun for both of you. BLT sounds yummy. I might do that as well.

Jana, bummer about the fire. I hope they can get it out quickly.

Lois, hopefully the sewing will go smoother today.

Chriss, glad things are lining up for you. And you are so lucky to have little feral kitties. They will be great rodent hunters if they stick around.

Maryz, CW do take a lot of background fabric, but they you don't need backing. It's so interesting to connect with people about genealogy. I bet it's nice to have the kids back again.

Maryq, I too need groceries. Nice of you to help Peggy out with her patches.

Diane, oh no! I hope you can recover the quilt. How are you doing?

Lyn, enjoy your sewing day. You'll be on the move again soon I see.

Yesterday I took a class. It was disappointing. I think the actual teaching time was about 10 minutes at most. I guess not all classes can be great. I have been sewing more, which means ignoring other things. I did get the house cleaned on Monday, so it should last a few more days. We need to bathe the dogs today or tomorrow. Jack had some tummy issues earlier this week but seems fine now. I'm about half way done with the "Witchy Manor". Would like to finish that up this week. I think BLT's sound good, so that's what's for dinner.

Have a lovely day.
