Monday August 11th
Good morning Im up dressed and dogies have been let out. Just like the rest of you with fur babies they wake me up early to go out so I drag myself out of bed in the dark. get them out wait for them to dilly dally around then come in. Im awake waiting for the sun to show up and they are sound asleep on the floor by my feet,
yesterday i went up to the market for some lunch stuff for kens lunches and they had ripe bananas for 25 cents a pound Ken decided to buy a bunch and today I am baking 3 dozen banana nut muffins, they will go to the rink for the guys, and some in our freezer. A few across the street to the neighbors. So that will be my day, I will start them now so I can get them done before the heat, we will be 88 today, I am looking forward to heading up north next month it will be in the 60s and 70s,,,sweater weather on the lake Superior.
Still no sewing here, I will take hexis with me to the lake but not doing much here, I did however order some backing fabric for the Vintage Christmas,,,i couldnt find the KT fabric but did find here on Q some I liked even better, and the price was good.
Well Im off the get the baking done, Have a wonderful day, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,
JUDI - 25 cents/# is a good price if you can use all those ripe bananas. I use them to make Frosty Paws for Scottie. 1 qt plain yogurt, 2 glops of peanut butter, 2 or 3 smashed ripe bananas, a few Tbsp honey. Mix them up, put into small individual containers and freeze for a cool treat for your puppies. I use 2 oz plastic cups with lids from grocery store. But muffins would be good, too. Weren't you working on yoyo's, too? Or did you finish that project? My yoyo quilt now lives in Texas. It was confiscated after the quilt show last January. But I still have nearly 200 yoyos so maybe I should figure out what to do with those . . .
LORI - If I had a choice of going to read dry documents or sew with a friend, I'd, of course, choose the documents. And if you believe that, can I also interest you in a nice bridge?
CHRISS - I've been seeing hummers here, too. I don't put out feeders and I can tell they get pretty disgusted with the silk flowers I have on my deck. I'll be waiting for Diaper Derby Day! We had cheeseburgers last night, too.
MARY Q - I think aprons will be great for your craft fair. Someone asked - do you make matching mom/daughter ones to sell as a set? You could also make matching potholders/oven mitts. Tablerunners will also use up fabric. Have you ever tried to sell quilts? It's kind of like selling your children, I know. But one quilt might buy you a dishwasher. At Farmers Mkt here a few years ago I saw a simple small throw quilt - priced at $750. Don't know if it sold or not. But you only have to sell one!
JANA - I can't believe your grands are already back in school. Schools here never start until Wed after Labor Day. And yes, don't make your Batt Cave too clean! Leave a project or two out for guests to ooh and ahh over! Put something cool on your design wall, too!
LOIS - our dining room table seems to be a catch all here. Right now it's full of wrapping paper, tape, scissors, and tags. ugh.
VAL - have you heard any more about your DBIL?
Yesterday I quilted and bound the last comfort quilt. They are packed and ready to go to Mary Q and she will give them to cancer patients. Then I cleaned my sewing room. Last March we put an air filter in there. Yesterday was an eye opener when we cleaned it. My goodness! What a lot of dust and fabric lint! I hate to think that for years I've been breathing all that in. I did notice when we got the filter my junky cough all but cleared up . . Then I got out all the Christmas stuff I've been collecting all year, made lists, and spent the afternoon wrapping gifts and packing them into boxes to put into the trailer. For family along the way of our trip. I still have a few more things to pick up. This morning I have chiropractor, and this afternoon I have PT. After that we're going to friends for dinner. I'm to take dessert but it's too hot to bake so I'm thinking of root beer floats. They should be refreshing as it's to be 86 degrees today.
Have a marvelous Monday!

Re: Monday August 11th
Good morning. It's going to be a stay inside day for me. I don't do heat well. It was already 75 degrees at 5:30 this morning. Not worth opening the house for a few degrees.
Someone sent me a message at 5:30 this morning. My phone dinged and the message said "ty" That drives me nuts. If a person wants to say thank you, they should, in my opinion, type out the whole word. It's like typing R for are or U for you. Kind of a pet peeve, I guess. Texting is already much quicker than a phone call but to type a message in code makes me shake my head.
Yesterday around 5 the power went out; it came back on at 8. I have a generator, but the question is always, if I pull the generator out will my power come back on. Instead, I have a portable battery I plug a fan into it and let the fan blow on me and I stay comfortable. My portable battery is on a trolly with wheels and a handle that extends It's a Goal Zero Yeti 1500X. I can plug in my fan, a lamp and my phone and it will keep those things running. I've had to plug my CPAP machine into it so I could sleep. If your power goes out, I really recommend it.
This morning, I watered. I am on a well and can't use water while the power is out, the birds aren't complaining as I watch them play under a tree. A bolt fell out of my chair so I will give fixing that my attention today. I also want to find a two-drawer file cabinet, some salt and pepper shakers with bigger holes, and there was something else that I told myself, while I was watering the garden, that I was going to get but I can't remember what it was.
Lori, I also like the hummingbirds. I should put a feeder outside, but those attract ants. I thought of a bird seed feeder but those attract squirrels. I'm glad the "hurry up and get it done" stuff at dad's has passed. It's nice when there isn't a time limit on what needs to be done. Kind of lets you exhale. Glad you have your trust all proofread. It is a long boring document and so many pages. A ball game and a pizza sound like a good night.
Judi, Everyone will surely enjoy those muffins. what a nice treat for them all. I am also ready for sweater weather. I asked AI how many days over 100 degrees we have each year in central Cali and it came back with about 20. I remind myself that the other 345 days are under 100 but that doesn't seem to give me comfort.
Maryz, I love a good root beer float. Actually, you could hold the root beer, and I will just have the float part. And, if it's not too much trouble, I'd like my float on top of warmed peach cobbler. Thanks! Our schools, stupidly, start the Wednesday before Labor Day weekend, they take either Friday or Monday off and go back to school. Our kids that are in AG take both Friday and Monday off because of the fair, they need to enter their animals. It never has made any sense to me at all.
Time to start my day. I have a lot of little things that I have been putting off so will try to get some of them done today
I'd debating on going to the grocery store today or waiting till tomorrow. Dinner tonight will be leftover cheeseburger. Maybe I will put it in a salad,
You all have a wonderful day,
Chriss

Re: Monday August 11th
Good morning!
My boys got home yesterday afternoon and parked the trailer and milling machine over in Sandee's back yard. They , before they left California, stopped off and weighed the truck and trailer, then subtracted the truck's weight and the trailer and milling machine weighed in at nearly 5800 pounds! Quite a load I'd say!
We're chilly today, but will be hot, above normal and reaching triple digits all this week. And the need for rain will be this weekend! Hopefully the proverbial they are right and it will fall in the mountains, not in the valley and on the party!
Maybe the Batt Cave can show off and I'll put my JN on the design wall. Then maybe I can be motivated to finish assembling it. It's all sewn to the papers, just need to put those together. And load a UFO on my LA. Or, just be my normal sloth self! Slow!
Today is haircut day, later this afternoon and we get to FaceTime with Andrew. He wants to wish Mr G happy birthday and us, happy anniversary. Andrew is able to FaceTime on his P-day, which is Mondays. P-day is short for preparation day, laundry, grocery, apartment cleaning, etc.
So I have more cleaning. Laundry too. Tomorrow will be more cleaning, as we are stuck at home, as the city is having the street I live on, seal, slurry coated. You can't drive on that gunk until it dries, about 12 hours! So we're stuck here! Nothing delivered either.
So not much here, just getting party ready.
Hugs,
Jana

Chriss - those Goal Zeros are wonderful! Stu worked for them and did all the technical answers for people calling in. His roommate, Michael still does. The company is located not far from me.

Morning
DDIL off to hospital, DGD here with me.
Nothing else new. Storm last night, but new roof was wonderful! Storm caused power to go out in middle of night.

Re: Monday August 11th
Good morning ladies, I thought I posted yesterday but I don't see anything? Guess I am getting old.
Today is MAD Monday. I need to finish up the backing and binding on my current project and then figure out the next one. Not sure what it will be.
Lori I looked up that quilt pattern. It looks pretty quick and easy. Love the bats! I am kind of shocked to believe that push for donations was that long ago also. I agree Trust Documents are a bit boring. But in today's world, a necessity. I went through a bunch of paperwork yesterday, separated what had to be shredded and what could just go in the recycle. Came across my BIL's will and read it through. Found what could be an error (he know longer is associated with one of the beneficiaries.) Just wonder if I should bring it to his attention. I don't think his assets would skip that many people but you never know. I will think on it a bit longer. He told my DH that he had to come home from his Hall of Fame ceremony as he was sick but told me he felt fine. Go figure.
Judi Double ZigZag? Never heard of that? Wonder if my machine has one? I had a bit of grand puppy time yesterday but she is not all that friendly. She only wants her Mom and that's it.
Chriss we are cooling off a bit today to low 80's, then Friday the temps go back up. That is a good thinking question. There are so many things in the world that show you that God exists. We just need to stop, look and listen. I think just the miracle of birth always amazes me. How can two tiny cells develop into a whole baby? I agree you are in a quilting slump. The recommended fix it is to just settle on something small that you can finish quickly. That way you get the pleasure of a finished project without a lot of time and effort. If you need projects, I have 150 at my fingertips! Just say the word!
Maryq I hope you have put in the order for cooler temps before I get there. I am thinking if you could pick me up 4 bottles of the Best Press, no strong odors that would be good. We are only at 57 this AM but that is kind of normal for us this time of year. What pattern do you use for your aprons. I have been thinking of making one for my daughter and her granddaughter that match.
Jana kids are back to school this week here too. It is so early, odd to me. I have some scraps of fabric I could send just for you to throw about. Jana I really like that hymn but do see how it could be hard to lead.
Maryz I have a tote box full of old photos of family members, most I do not know who they are. Some I can probably figure out. Not sure what I will eventually do with them. Glad to hear Khloe is out of ICU. That's always a good sign. I did check with the shop and it shows I bought 3.5 yards which is what the pattern called for. So the mystery goes on, but I have enough to finish now and that is what matters. Just glad they still had some. Will try to get two more blocks done before I leave for MAD monday. 50 comfort quilts is impressive but I have to say, I hope we never need that many. I haven't heard much about DBIL. He hasn't seen any of the doctors yet. But I will keep you all up to date.
Lois I followed suit and got my laundry done yesterday too.
So I did get bad news yesterday (seems to be all I get lately!) My DGS (The greats Father) has a best friend in Suisun which is a hop skip and a jump away from us is now considered Terminal with his cancer. They went to school together from the time they were in elementary school. He is only 26ish. He got testicular cancer a number of years ago, it has come and gone many times over the years but this time has come back with a vengeance and the doctors say there is nothing else they can do. I do not know how DGS will react to this death. This is his one true friend so a bit worried. I can only pray that God grants his the courage the strength to get through this.
That is about it for now, if I am to get a block or two done I need to get. Have a great day everyone.

Judi, Thank you for the double zigzag info.
I have laundry to do and I will probably sew on a project. Dinner will be beef stir fry.

Re: Monday August 11th
Good Morning Girls
Here we are again... a nice new fresh week! Still warm and muggy, but for now the AC is off and we'll have to see how it goes. If my eyelids start sweating, that's the clue that it's time to turn it back on!
Judi... Your CW quilt is amazing!! You must feel just so thrilled that this 18 year project is complete!!! Please tell me all dogs don't get up before the sun to go outside! I'm babysitting Zara in a couple weeks and I sure don't want to have to let her out at 0500!
Are you kind of between quilting projects?
Maryz.... Funny you mention "Mother-daughter" aprons. I pulled out a pattern I had and lo and behold there was a child size pattern too. It's a good idea ... I have apron fabric piled high on my table so I might try the idea! I sell them pretty cheap, because I'm just happy to get rid of the fabric. It's a bunch of 30's prints that Katie gave me last summer! Viv has tried to sell some her quilts, with no luck---beautiful quilts at about $150... those don't sell, but folks will pay $400-500 for an Amish quilt (that falls apart in one washing) Root beer floats!!! Count me in!!!
You are going to warmer in WA than here in MN!!!
Chriss.... That's one thing about having a well... No water when the electricity goes out!! When we built our house in 1986, we had a well and septic system! Not that I was crazy about the septic system, but the well water was great ! Or it was until the pump died and I had to connect to city water--yuk! I don't suppose you have any warning when the power is about to go out. Here, if we get a storm, that's a pretty good clue we are going to lose power! I've wondered how the CA electrical grid is going to handle all the electric cars in CA?
Jana.... Seems I never want to really go anyplace, until I CAN'T because the road is closed or we're snowed in ! What are your boys going to do with the Milling Machine? ok and what IS a Milling machine? Like flour milling?
Flo... Hope all goes well with you DIL. She won't have to stay over night will she? You don't get to stay over night much anymore. Even Eli with pins in his arm was home in like 3 hours!
Lori...Always more fun to sew than clean---as evidenced by my house this morning!
Valerie.... I'll do my best to arrange cooler weather for you!!! Next time I run over to Buffalo--about 12 miles away, I'll grab some Best Press... I'm running low myself. Prayers for your DGS's friend.
Do any of you like to rescue sewing machines? I'm a sucker for old machines and think how fun it would be to fix up one of the antiques! SO I saw on FB yesterday, a 1927 Singer 90 machine, in the original case. The only think that is missing is the foot pedal. $35.00!!!! I'm trying to locate a foot pedal and if it's not terribly expensive I might drive down to Bloomington--my home town and check out the machine! Not that I NEED another machine, because I certainly don't.
As mentioned, there is a pile of fabric on my craft table this morning. I kind of abandoned ship last night and ignored it to go to kids for supper. Brennen made beef stroganoff--with venison-- and while I'm not crazy about venison... this was really good!!! If I get all the aprons cut out and organized, perhaps I'll start sewing this afternoon.
Better get to it!! Wishing you all a great day!

Judi... Your CW quilt is amazing!! You must feel just so thrilled that this 18 year project is complete!!! Please tell me all dogs don't get up before the sun to go outside! I'm babysitting Zara in a couple weeks and I sure don't want to have to let her out at 0500!
