Good morning all, I was up early had wierd dreams last night taking me back to my nursing days, funny how these things stick in your head,
We had a great time at DDs yesterday good food and Sophia had a great birthday, They had a big water slide which all the kiddos loved. Colleens father in law Mickey was there and he couldnt say enough about the comfort quilt sent to him by El's Angels. Maryz posted his note in the Projects from the Heart thread. Please read it and know it truely brought him comfort. and will continue to do so. He marveled at how complete strangers can do kindness and pray for someone they dont even know, We told him how you all prayed for Sophia when her liver enzymes showed that she could even face a liver transplant. and the very next check up showed completely normal. Drs were baffled but we were not,,We know prayer works...even my daughter who isnt much on religion or prayer tells everyone prayer did help Sophia and now we hope it helps Mickey.
Today 3 of my sisters are headed here so we can attend a bridal shower in Frankenmuth Michigan..it is a brunch and it will be fun, Sister No 5 will meet us there as she is staying at her cottage up there, Only one sister will miss it as she was here last weekend and returned to Florida Lots of family time these weeks.
I am still stitching away on the CW blocks and hope to get this project finished,,,
Have a wonderful sunday,,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning!

Beautiful day here. Warm, but not unbearable. Sat out on the deck while Daniel, Aaron and Sarah were fussing about. I have pyros! The fire pit area is packed very small gravel, we call chat and has weeds. So they decided the best way to clear those weeds is to torch them. So that will be done, under Daniel's watch with a hose too. These weeds are a ground creeper, no big tall stuff.

Church is a bit later and we're singing some nice hymns. One is not a favorite to conduct, as it's written in a 6/4 time. But I can do it. Oh, and it's a long hymn,! Wears out your arm! 😀

So not much new here in these parts. Daniel was able to reset my Highlander hatch. It was a easy fix. Hold the button, wait for the beeps, close and repeat. Voile, it's fixed. The electronics had gotten confused.

Daniel and Aaron are heading to California next weekend to pick up Daniel's milling machine and see Hot August Nights in Reno. It's a huge annual car show with all kinds of cars and hot rods. A huge parade of cars. My kids think that driving to California is no big deal. Oh well, they're young!

Off to get ready,
Enjoy your day,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning all
I am well but really busy. We have had so much rain . The yard is totally out of hand. My sister is coming today to help mow. Ill go out as soon as it drys out and weed eat around the bird feeders and flower beds located off of back porch. I had to go to Havana Ill. to pick up my Bargello quilt. I found a new quilter there. Her name is Kelly Noble and she is good. A little expensive but what isnt.
I have a question : Are we doing secret Santa. I for one really want to. Its so much fun.
I think I told you the farm sold and we closed June 23. Maybe I forgot to tell you. Now I am in the process of finding people to get some work done. Not easy. I need five replacement windows , my drain in basement redone and some new carpeting in living room.
I been reading what your all doing. and say prayers for those who need them. I think things are settling down here.
Barney is doing great . Hes a little fart. but could not live without him. Spoilt little doggie.
Judi have fun with your sisters. Mine are my go to for a lot of things. One goes with me on my adventures and the other one helps me work.

Well I need another cup of Java.
You all have a great sewing day
Katy and Barney

A beautiful morning at Lake of the Woods. Would be a good fishing day, but Garry was up to potty an hour ago and said his back hurts. Sew I will sew.

Yesterday I went to the Arts & Craft festival in town that happens the first weekend in August, which is a holiday weekend in Canada. I think it's an excuse for them to get a long weekend in summer weather. I only bought one item, a beautiful seam ripper, the handle is made from curly maple.

Prayers for your needs.
Lyn

Good morning,

JUDI - Your post was certainly uplifting! I'm so glad Mickey liked his quilt. And I pray that prayer works for him! I'm glad we could help in some small way. The shower with your sisters is going to be fun! Sorry your last sister had to go back to FL and couldn't stay for it. There are a lot of sisters in your family! My family consisted of 3 boys and then 3 girls, in that order. I am #5. You will conquer those CW - I have no doubt. But then what will you take for hand work when you go for your week in the UP?? I had weird dreams, too. I was home alone - not even Scottie was here. Middle of the night and I heard noise in our garage. And the garage was full of bicycles and four guys were in the garage trying to steal them all! I turned on the bright lights and they scattered like roaches. Why do these dreams happen? We don't own bikes nor have we ever had burglars in this house.

LOIS - good to see you! I hope you enjoy the mancation as much as the guys!

KATY - good to see you, too! I love my critters, too. I have never lived without a cat and once went 18 months without a dog. I was so dog-lonesome. So I know what you mean about Barney being essential to your life.

LYN - sorry Garry's back is sore. I feel his pain. Really, I do! I'd rather go to an arts and crafts fest than go fishing, so your day sounded like a winner to me!

FLO - Sorry you've had clean-up to do. Whenever we've had contractors, including roofers, do any work here they've done all the clean-up. But I bet it's nice to stand back and admire that new roof! Did Diane say if she's started any treatment yet and what that treatment might be? We all wish her well.

MARY Q - I know you're gone but I want to say 'hi' anyway! Have a great time! Welcome home later today! I hope you figured out a way to haul your potato salad safely. Maybe set it into a larger, ice-filled bowl and cover it well?

JANA - glad the railing will finally be done! I hope you get a lot of use out of your lovely deck. It's so nice that your kids are all so talented and so willing to spend their time and talents on you and Michael! You are blessed. I have heard of Hot August Nights car show. My DBIL would be in heaven! He has a '67 Camaro he's restored (it's purple!) and shows it at local car shows. There is a show in SD that he trailers it to some years.

VALERIE - that was so scarry, to have a shooting take place so close to your home, and to have your own vehicle caught in the crossfire! Thank God it wasn't you or your DH or any other innocent person! I hope your DH can retire sooner rather than later and you can get out of Dodge!! In the meantime, I hope your "Dodge" (or whatever pick-up you have) can be fixed a lot more quickly than ours. And, while I'm not a sue-happy person, I would seriously consider suing all involved at least for what it costs to repair your new truck!

CHRISS - sorry - you will be on your own at Costco on Monday. Bill decreed yesterday to be Costco day so we got all our shopping done - Costco and Freddy's. He couldn't wait until Monday. He loves Costco. I wish we had a spare room. You'd think a 4-bedroom house would be big enough for 2 people but he has his office, I have a sewing room, and WE have a quilting room that also houses our overflow pantry, Christmas stuff, and quilts. I cleaned the closet in there a few weeks ago but it doesn't look much different than before I cleaned it!

LORI - I don't think my hips are causing my back problems. I saw all the XR's and the MRI. A slipped disc, a bone spur, and arthritis. However, it's possible they are exacerbating it, I suppose. Or vice versa. I have to say, I was a little bit blown away when I got the news of needing 3 surgeries. This pain has come on gradually for so many years that I've simply adjusted to it and not realized how bad it was until this past month. I'm hoping to avoid back surgery because I've not heard many success stories. But I'll be happy to shop for a new hip!! The R is bone on bone with a bone spur. And I can feel that spur every step I take.

Yesterday was grocery shopping and putting everything away. That took all morning. Then I worked on Lee's QOV, making quite a bit of progress, I'm happy to say. Then I got binding on another quilt. I'm using my back up machine, "Stitch", as "Chip" is at the sewing machine spa. And Stitch is asking for a lube job. He's never easy to clean & oil, but that's the first thing on my agenda today. When Chip comes home next week, Stitch will go in for the same treatment. I have a label to make, 2 quilts to bind, and then back to QOV. Bill is loading up another quilt for me. Supper is going to be beef bourguignon (I had to look that up to spell it). I happen to have all the ingredients and they need to be used - the beef, the fresh mushrooms, and the bay leaf. :D

I talked to Tina a few days ago. She is still working for Door Dash (?). One of those delivery companies. And she's hoping to get on with Walmart, making deliveries. She says Door Dash people don't get a salary, only whatever they make in tips but Walmart pay their delivery people a wage. Jasmyne is living with them for the summer and Tina's not getting much sewing done at all. She didn't ask, but I think she could use a prayer.

I also talked to Chickie. She still lives with constant dizzies, result of her strokes from 5 years ago. But she still sews and is expecting her 13th great grandbaby in 5 years. She manages to make a quilt for every baby. We plan to visit her in late Sept. Being a farm girl myself, I love visiting Chickie as we get to park our trailer in their pasture and visit with her cattle. I love cows, and it was pretty funny about 10 years ago when we ere there and Scottie saw 30 curious cows coming to investigate him!

I hope your Sunday is relaxing.

Good morning, it's going to be a great day today.

Lori, It is amazing the things we can stuff into a space and not remember we have them. I also promised myself I wouldn't stuff spaces anymore. Although I have cleaned out my junk drawer twice since then. Don't you just love farmers markets and fruit stands? How are things going with your remodel? have you made any firm decisions?

Judi, how wonderful that Mickey was touched by that comfort quilt. I pray he remembers that feeling as he goes through his illness. Sometimes it's hard to remember that people care and you do matter. Glad Sophia had a nice birthday. Enjoy your sister day, what fun to be you.

Lois, woo hooo you. the house is all yours, no cooking,no errands, no nothing but peace and relaxing.

Jana, hope your ground creeping weeds aren't as bad as ours, ours have goatheads and are awful. I think I have gotten most of them. If the boys want to come this way when they come to Cali I can make up a todo list for them.

Katy, I also have trouble finding labor for the big jobs. I've resorted to Home Depot or Lowes for so many things because it seems the independents are too busy to do the job in a timely manner. Glad you are doing well.

Maryz, Funny how cows are so inquisitive. Here the tourists pull over to take pictures of the cows looking at them. Prayers are being said for Tina, hope she finds the job she likes and that all goes well for her and her family. I'll add a few prayers for you too. Hoping the surgeries are successful. Probably best we don't meet at Costco, we'd chat too long and anything we had frozen in our carts would thaw.

Today I would like to finish up some things around here. I have some paperwork to do and I may just drag out those family pictures. I'm making a list of questions for the surgeon and making a list of todo's for my son for when he needs it.

I'm not afraid of heart surgery. In fact, since my angiogram I haven't had any odd feelings in my heart. I feel great, I have no trouble walking a mile or so. The symptoms that led me to go to the doctor seem nonexistent. But I'm still keeping my appointment and making my lists. Monday I will pick up my records so I can take them to the appointment on Tuesday. They have faxed the records to the surgeon but I'm not taking any chances. I'm going to ask for your prayers in this but I'm also going to ask you to add a thanks to God for the outcome.

Dinner will be refrigerator pot luck because tomorrow is Costco. My son had some already cooked tails off shrimp he got at Costco and I think I will treat myself to some too.

So, guess I should get dressed and get some breakfast. and start my day. Hoping your day is wonderful and full of blessings.
Chriss

Good morning and a blessed Sunday to you all.

Busy morning, one more block made for DGS quilt, groceries bought and put away. Load of laundry done. Still in the dryer but I will get to it.

Plan for the day, Make one more block, Blockheads block, get ready for KT tomorrow and get the binding for baby quilt sewn on the front so I can start hand stitching the back.

Lori update on gun issue: The neighbor was not the one shooting. The neightbor has a niece and it was someone the niece knows. Niece had gone to Costco to pick up medications for neighbor's mother and something apparently occurred there between the niece and the female shooter. The female shooter then started calling and texting the niece like in a harressing type of way. Neighbor then said everything went silent so she thought it was over. Next thing she knew, the shooting started. So the issue with making an arrest is there is no eye witness, and so far no camera evidence that shows the shooters in the area. Right now it is all heresay and circumstansial evidence. That is not enough to get a warrent from a judge. The investigating officer does now have the bullet though. Wish somebody would find the other nine. It may be matter of waiting until they boast about the crime (kids will) and tips given to the police. So we just wait and hope the insurance pays.

So the scoop on DBIL, turns out the GF was married, very weathly and set to loose $10,000,000 if she left the marriage. Sounds like a pre-nup kinda thing. It's weird to me but he does know some very weathly people ie: Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao, Bob Arum, and the list goes on.

Chriss I love farmers markets and fruit stands. If I am going to quilting on Saturndays in Vacaville I like to stop. It is within walking distance of the shop. Finding good help these days is hard. Just watch home depot prices. Glad you are making a list for your son though he won't need it.

Judi what a sweet note Mickey wrote. Anger is a huge part of the grieving process and we sometimes forget that. But we were taught in Hospice that it's not usually really anger but more fear. Knowing someone out there cares is a huge gift. Maybe the recent illness is having a affect on you. You know, once a nurse, always a nurse. Have a great time at the bridal shower.

Lois we all need a break sometimes. You are quite busy. Is DH Bill going by himself?

Jana wondering what hymn is not your favorite. I have some like that that I just would prefer to skip.

Katy glad to see you and Barney. I am glad to hear he is spoiled. Nice that your sister can come and help. Mine, not so much.

Lyn I have recently met a girl from Canada so learning some things about our nothern neighbors. It actually doesn't sound to much different from here.

Maryz I love sheep. Well cows too but mostly sheep. When we were in England and tea time came along if we were out in the car we stopped in a sheep field to have our tea. I do not under any circumstances eat lamb or mutton. I am a bit worried about Tina. Seems as though everything came up all of a sudden and I don't think that is ever good. Yes, you are right, we have a Dodge Ram. I could sue if I could get a name and the proof but they are adult kids and likely have nothing I want. I would be happy with just an arrest.

Anyway, it is time to get on to my sewing chores for the day. Have a great day.
