Good morning,

Looks like the forum is slow again this morning. Wonder what's going on with them. It's not our internet. I checked with my provider, and, mouth stuffed with a Sweet 'n' Salty granola bar, he mumbled, "I don't think so".

LYN - If I ate fish it would only be the carrying agent for the tartar sauce. I do love good tartar! I often use it for chicken fingers.

JANA - wise advice for decorating rooms! I do know that rooms should "flow" one into the other. But never thought of using fabric. Though I once watched a video by Jen Kingwell on how she chooses her fabrics. She picks one favorite and lays it out. Then chooses a color/print that blends. The third fabric blends with the second, the fourth with the third and so on as she builds her fabric choices. Also varying sizes of prints - and designs like floral, stripe, check, "reads as solid", etc. If you've ever studied a Kingwell pattern you know she uses a LOT of fabrics in each of her quilts. But the process is the same as you described for a house. Glad the boys had a good time on the trail ride! Fun fun!!

VAL - I often wonder where some of our common phrases originated. And now you've solved one of the mysteries that haunt my existence -"tickle your fancy". Thanks for that bit of trivia. :D And yay for getting another project in the can! Do you label your quilts? When I have a stack of quilts in the QQ, I just sit down and make all the labels in one sitting so they are ready to go when the quilt comes off the LA. I hope you find your blue fabric. Don't you hate when this happens! Are you talking the Gemstone project?

CHRISS - I like your choice of countertop. My friend has pure white Corian and every single little tiny minute crumb or speck of pepper shows. But with the veins of light color in your choice, that won't happen. And you can "decorate" with towels, hot pads, cookie jar, etc with pretty much any color you like. We have black appliances, too and a stainless steel dishwasher. Black countertops and brick red walls, wood floor. I like it all, but am kind of tired of red walls. I want to paint them white but it's such a BIG job. Much bigger than it was when I was 35! I am really praying you don't need the open heart procedure. For something of this magnitude a second opinion is always a good idea.

MARY Q - I was wondering the same thing - how am I going to quilt this ABC quilt?!! And even as I was doing it, I was wondering. But I did finally finish it yesterday and it is what it is. I have the binding halfway sewn on. Waiting to see what Aut wants on the label before I finish the binding because I catch the label in the binding. And yes, I guess I'm teaching the quilting class again in January. But with a caveat - students must have basic sewing knowledge and they need to bring their machines in oiled, threaded, and ready to go! I suggested the library ask the quilting group who meets there regularly to offer basic sewing classes this summer, but I doubt that has happened.

JUDI - did you get your America quilt all together? Or are you still visiting with your sisters? Yesterday when we were talking fall weather approaching I was going to mention the air is different here. We can hear the trains running along the Narrows, but didn't. And darned if later in the day - there were the trains! And my fireweed suddenly went to seed yesterday like dandelion puffs and the air was filled with floating fluff. All signs of approaching fall weather.

LOIS - has your sewing room cooled off yet?

Yesterday I finished quilting the baby clothes quilt and then got the binding on halfway. I hope to get that finished today. Also, Bob left yesterday but not before he cooked us and L&L omelets for breakfast. Four hours later he called - he forgot his phone. So we found it, packaged it up, and got it into the mail immediately. Not much else is happening around here today. We are working on Amara's scrapbook of last winter's visit so we'll probably get that finished today. We have 6 pages left to do. We'll order 3 copies - one for her, one for her parents, and one for us. If Aut gets back to me about the quilt label I'll also get that made and onto the quilt, along with finishing the binding. We could conceivably finish TWO projects today! Unless Bill "grows weary". He has to have his 1 to 2 hour nap every afternoon.

We're going to be low 80's for next few days and then back to middle 70's. Purrfect weather!

have a Marvy Monday!

Good morning!

Yes, it's the site running slow again. There was a server issue a week or so back, so I wonder if that could still be a issue.

Another beautiful day here, but it will be a scorcher! Pushing the century mark all week. Definitely, Batt Cave time!

Daniel was a busy beaver yesterday. He got most of the railing painted. We changed from the normal black wrought iron to a white, with a stair cap that will be the same brown as the deck. That cap was supposed to arrive last week, and it's here in Utah, just held up in the FedEx facility. Hopefully today. Used my semi existent decorating skills in designing this deck. Dark chocolate brown, main deck boards, with a trim skirt board, same color as the house, white accents and the top hand boards on the railing, the dark chocolate. Daniel has thrown around the idea of the same red as my barn, which is also the same red as my shutters on the house, but we both are leaning toward the brown. Daniel also finished stacking the stone wall pieces where the fire pit is. We will use that area as a gathering spot for visiting or food and have a nice portable fire pit for smores! To which we cheat and use Keebler Fudge stripe cookies instead of Graham crackers. Just slide on one cookie on the stick, down out of the way of the marshmallow, then the marshmallow, toast that, when done, add second cookie, slide all off and enjoy. We have tons of stores sticks in the camping gear. Some long handled fancy ones! ๐Ÿ˜‰ read this to Mr G who made me add, that he has no say in the choice in all this decorating. I ask, he suggests and I ignore. Yup, that way for 50 years! ๐Ÿ˜€ oh, he funds the bill.

Laundry, dishes and play time in the Batt Cave! Oh, no Dr appointments! Whoo hoo! So tired of those!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning I have tried several times to get on the forum and it is very slow. Since I cn get on other sites pretty easy I assume its this site. So I did some chores while the little thingy was spinning away, Filled my pill containers for the 2 weeks. and did the dishes, then I came up here and checked the spinning thingy, got on to the site and had to resign in, then spinning thingy again,,,but now i finally got in but in the mean time I made binding and pieced a backing for the Made in America quilt. I am ready yo load it onto the LA...BUT I only have a queen sized batting and dont want to cut it up for a 60x80 quilt. So Im driving up to the hobby lobby ( the closest store that might have batting) and see what they have, I did find a Hobbs 80/20 roll of batting for $224.99 for 30 yards by 96. that amounts to $7.50 a yard,,,not sure that this is a good price or not but it sounds good. But I dont need or want to store that much batting, so Ill make the trip...
This quilt should be pretty easy to quilt I will do a loopy star all over design, and call it good. I am trying to deside whether to start the KT Christmas or start doing the T shirt Quilt for Liam...Always decisions.
Well thats it for me. (90 again today and most of this week...then we will cool to the 70s at the end of the week I think. "they" are saying thst so far.
Have a wonderful day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning

Judi I am having the same problems, it's been about 2 weeks now. Sounds like we think alike. I also got some chores done, breakfast eaten and packed up for the next four days at the quilt shop.

Jana aren't your boys pretty computer savey. Maybe they could recommend a fix.

Maryz I generally don't label the quilts but really want to start soon. I just have issues getting everything accomplished. Plus the embroidery thread for the machine is quite pricey. I will need to watch for it to go on sale. I did get one block done for DGS quilt. Maybe I should sew it on my M7 so I can start some labels on my M17.

Lots to do yet before I leave, mainly shower and hair. I am going to get for now and see if I can back on later.

Have a great day!

It's most likely, the slowness, on the server site that QIAD uses. QIAD may have a small internal server, and that will probably be hooked to a bigger one to handle the load and hence the slower speed of loading. I'm sure that QIAD IT guy is working hard on solving the issue. Right now it seems a bit faster. Hope hope hope

Good morning. It's been gorgeous weather and promises to continue through this week. yay me!

Slim showed up and is loading my trash. I am so grateful for him, I don't know what I would do without him. Actually, I do know, I would have to haul my own trash or have someone else do it.

When I am don here I will go have some breakfast, go into town and pick up a blind to replace my broken blind, then go to the dentist this afternoon.

Lyn, thanks for removing the oatmeal and replacing it with a burger, no bun please. I will still have beef hamburger, just not as often. I love a cheeseburger on a green salad with thousand island dressing.

Valerie, for now I will probably stick with the accordion blinds, I only need to replace one. I haven't replaced those windows yet and will make a real window covering decision when I do. I love your baby quilt, it's really nice. HST's are wonderful, aren't they? I have had AI do some mock ups with taht counter top and painted cabinets and walls with my colors. I think a brownish grey cabinet and cream or light chocolate milk colored wall will look nice. I'm still playing with it.

Judi, I have already started my list of questions. I've googled, youtubed, and asked AI all about it which helped me with more questions. I'm hoping that the surgery can be less invasive. I'm concerned about it but not afraid or worried. I also had a slow start onn the forum this morning. I think they need to shut the power off for ten minutes and re-plug itin. Seems to work for me.

Jana, thanks for the advice. I have some samples and colors in my mind. But my thinking is also that perhaps when I am ready to move forward that perhaps something new will come out and I will change my mind. I'm doing just what you suggested, I won't sign until I am over the moon about my choice. I have nothing but time.

Maryz, time to exhale, no company. Hope the phone gets to it's destination. I mailed something to Marilyn ad it's now in Des Moines, go figure. I also have a red wall in my kitchen, the rest of the walls are yellow. I have three red walls in my living room and one yellow. I also am tired of red. but, like you, dread painting. Looks like it's a conundrum for us both. My seconc choice in counter tops was much browner, but it was too dark. I love that AI (who my dad calls AL) will do a mockup not with my exact kitchen but with my specifications. It's been helpful. Hey, how is your heart stuff going.?

Jana, happy no doctor appointment day. It's good to be you. Your smores sound really good. likely the perfect combination of flavors. I think your deck sounds beautiful. I'd be tempted to go red but the brown will be perfect too.

Lois, sorry it's so hot upstairs. Thankfully the hot days are fewer than the cool ones. Are you getting a lot of use out of that quilting machine. I'd like to know how you like it, it could end up on my wish list.

I have no clue, as usual, what dinner will be. but will think on it.

You all have a fantabulous day

Maryz, sounds like a nice low key day today.

Jana, your party is just around the corner. Glad everything is getting finished up. I'm sure Mr. G is happy with the way it turns out.

Judi, I just bought a roll of Quilter's Dream batting 80/20 and it was the same. I got it from Linda's online.
Speaking of that, I need to cut some for a friend today.

Valerie, you should really label your quilts. I buy woven labels with my name on them. That way if I don't want to make a special label, I put one of those on my quilt. I fuse and then sew it down.

Lois, bummer it's so hot up stairs.

Chriss, I have dark out blinds from Blinds.com. I love them and they were easy to install. Sounds like you are very organized and ready to tackle your surgery whatever it is.

Lyn, I don't like ground turkey, so we do either beef. I not a big burger fan so we only have them about 3-4 time a year. Bill gets burgers when we go out. I use ground chicken to make meatballs and they are wonderful.

I went to the PO and sent a package off to Maryq for the Christmas swap and on to my niece for her birthday on Friday. I posted a picture of the pillow I made her. I also went to the mall and got a couple pairs of jeans. The ones I've been wearing for year are no longer. Today is our anniversary, so we'll be going out to a steak house for dinner. I'm looking forward to it. I might go get a pedicure in a bit.
I was having trouble logging on all weekend. It took me 10 minutes to post in the Christmas swap, so I just gave up over the weekend.

Have a lovely day.
