TUESDAY, July 22nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jul 22, 2025 4:37 am

Good morning,

It's another early one here. But it gives me an early start to the day. I can get lots done.

VAL, how old are your great nephew and niece? I assume you will be seeing them on your trip? Your plate
seems awfully full already. Maybe you could take them something specifically from your area - tee shirts, story books, treats? And they won't take up as much room in your truck as pillows would. As "makers" always want to make the gifts we give but sometimes that can put us into overload.

JUDI - glad you had such a nice day even though you had to go to the eye dr. A closer dr would be nice, but then you wouldn't have the opportunity to spend the day goofing off at the Canal, ride the boats, and eat ice cream! Something to ponder. I've been studying up on Cathedral Windows. Seems there are several different ways to make them. When I finish my last two 'must do' projects, I'm going to get serious about them.

CHRISS - Your tomatoes sound like such a treat! I wish I could grow them here. My stainless steel sink is divided. Larger and smaller halves and both are same depth - 9". Does your dentist know you are flirting with heart issues? They may want you to take some antibiotics before any dental work - even cleanings. You might call and ask them.

LORI - you had a busy day yesterday. Are you still taking bridge lessons? I think you said you dropped the drawing classes for now but were still doing line dancing?

LYN - what a fun coincidence that you found the ironing board in one place and then the cover board in another. And that was a whopper of a fish story! Glad he moved on. He sounds big enough to have taken you with him!

MARY Q - Surprise! You know, some ladies dream of a man waking them up in the morning. So is the dishwasher fixed now?? Our Freddys in Gig Harbor is just groceries, but it's a big grocery store. But the store in Tacoma sells everything from make-up to shoes to furniture. I haven't been in the big store in years. But prices are higher everywhere. Especially Alaska because the freight to Alaska costs more.

JANA - I bet Karlie is beside herself with joy at the two new kitties. And Charger is a great name for the one who is charging all over the house, exploring. (even though I'm sure that's not the source of his name. ) And I love that Daniel is a cat person.

FLO - I think anyone who loved your DFIL will love a bear made from his shirts. So nice of you to make them.

LOIS - still working on Minecraft?

Yesterday was Costco and Freddy's for groceries. We made a few other quick stops, too, while we were out. So that shot the morning. I did get my last LOTR block half finished. I'll finish that today and then I can start putting them together in the table runner. Tomorrow is going to be laundry and house cleaning day. Thursday our friend, Bob from Oregon is arriving for 2 or 3 days. He is taking part in a Ural motorcycle rally in a nearby town so he's going to stay with us and we'll babysit his dog, Bea, who is a black goldendoodle. This means another BBQ as everyone here loves Bob and will want to see him. Just deciding what to grill . . . Would like to do steak, but we priced steaks yesterday. Zowies!!

In the meantime, we have to eat tonite so we're going out with friends, Gus & Claudia, for happy hour at a Mexican restaurant. A margarita and some tacos sound good.

Happy Tuesday!

Good morning!

Another rinse and repeat day here. Windy is added 8n too.

Well, yesterday, Mr G flunked with flying colors the testing appointment. So now we're into the big 4 hour test, which is for a determination of just how much decline there is. There's not much out there for treatment and the Dr has started one med to see if it helps. Lots of side effects ,8sted and we know from past history, if there's a side effect, we get it.

Ordered a bunch of magnetic snaps and swivel hooks for stash so I can make a new tote or two. Sarah wants to make one for a friend, so the supplies were needed.

Aaron and Kate got home from camping. Only one small misshap with the trailer. A latch on the screen door broke. The part is already on order to fix it. It's Sarah's trailer and it's around 20 years old, so it's treated very gently. One day, she'll get a new one, maybe.

This morning, Sandee is getting the other eye done for cataract surgery. The first eye did extremely well. Sarah is taking her and Sarah will work from her car as she waits.

So after breakfast, I'm heading down to the Batt Cave. Yes, I did pre-order the Valentine bench pillow. So I have 2 winter Kimberbell quilt kits coming in September and the bench pillow in November. My crime partner is getting one of the winter quilts. She loves Snowmen!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls

Going to be a HOT one in Minnesota today!! Already turned on the AC! When Alexa says it's going to be 90* today...the AC came on!!

Maryz....Nope... dishwasher not fixed!!! We are debating whether to go ahead and fix the current one for $550. or so OR just go get a new whole new one! Since it's just lil ole me here, a brand new d/w isn't a real priority. Shawn is going to talk to Tom and get his opinion as he was an appliance repair guy for 40 years! Did you have "sticker shock" at the price of steak? I often get packages of stew meat in the fall for soup etc... last time I checked---bacon was cheaper than stew meat!! I thought stew meat was supposed to be CHEAP!!! Not any more.

Judi.... Oh how I love a good kit!!! When I was in AK at the big fabric sale... I picked up a kit that somebody had barely started for $10.00 Not that I will get to it any time soon! But I love when all the fabric is already coordinated! I hope you hear from Sherry. Glad to hear Denise is doing well. I've seen Cathedral Windows done and thought it was so cool--another thing to on my To Do list!!

Jana.... So sorry to hear you didn't have better news from Mr. G's testing. My heart goes out to you as working in Long Term pharmacy care, I saw many Dementia patients over the years. They haven't quite found a cure, and meds can possibly slow the progression--but side effects sometimes make it more difficult. I see my Ex with Parkinsons and some memory loss issues and I feel bad for him, but also for our kids. It's different for family to watch as their loved ones fade away. I hope that as a family you will look to various support groups in your area. Peggy, across from me, goes to one often and seems to be enjoying the book I gave her--the one Maryz recommended.

Lyn... Nope, dishwasher not fixed---see note to Maryz above! Tom caught their limit every day! But you know the rules about bringing it back! Not sure he actually brought back much. They stayed at a resort about 3 hours north of the border and I think they gave a lot of fish to the owners. Man a 36" Northern!!! That must have been fun to try to rein that one in!! Better to cut the line and let him go!!

Chriss... Now that you mention watermelon.... I just might have to put that on my list! Oh yes, I always pray for doctors and nurses! Especially surgeons that they have steady hands!!

Valerie... How old are the kids you are bringing gifts too? Katie next door makes the cutest little crayon roll ups--I'm sure she'd share her patterns if you need. Depending on their age.. maybe aprons with pockets for crayons? Just spit balling here!

Lois... Did you get a new ironing board?

Definitely have to go get groceries this morning. We have a new Chipotle in town, so that was supper last night. Need healthier food in the house. I ate so badly up in AK, that I really need to get back to a better diet to keep my blood sugar down and not ruin my good A1 C numbers!!! And I'm craving good salads!!!

Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday

Maryq, I think you should just get a new dishwash if it cost that much to repair. Hope you make it to the grocery store today.

Jana, sorry Mr. G failed his test. I have lots of things for making bags. I used to make bag all the time about 25 years ago. Glad Sandee's surgery went well.

Judi, I see Denise post in the photo section. I checked out the pattern for the KT Christmas sampler and it look pretty easy.

Chriss, I wish I lived closer so I could come over and get some of your tomatoes. I was going to plant some this year but never got around to it. The farmers market has some good one though.

Maryz, the classes are over until September. I'm going to take the drawing class again and also a watercolor class. I take my line dancing at a community center and I still do that on Monday nights. I wish it was a couple nights a week. It's a good workout. A goldendoodle sounds fun. They are such cute dogs.

Wrigley and Jack took me for my walk today. It takes Wrigley about half the walk before he gets it together. I'm constantly saying leave it. I might do a couple windows today. It's overcast and cool again this morning. Only supposed to get to 78*. This is the strangest weather for July, but I'm loving it not being crazy hot....Yet. Not sure if we'll have dinner or a late lunch.

Have a lovely day.

Uhm, issues again today. Everything went well until I hit reply.

Finished the blue stars top.hoping it will grow on me. I rarely dislike a quilt but this one I just don't. I will get quilted though and bind it. It can always get folded up in the pile πŸ™„.

My nephew is 5 I think and the girl 3 ish. Mason should be starting school in September. While the pillows will take up space I think they will be easier. I can find a little book to put in them. I will keep molling it around in my head.

The oral surgeon office called today. Estimated the root canal at $805. Actually that is about half of what I was expecting.

Maryq I am thinking about new dishwasher sounds like the best way to go but that is what I did with my range. That was a mistake. I keep wishing this new one would break so I could rid of it. Lol πŸ˜† 🀣 πŸ˜‚

Weather is odd here too. We should be well into the 80's here but only in the low 70's. This is to continue for several more days. I am not complaining, just concerned with Mother Nature's confusion.

Well I am off to fix some lunch and get my Blockhead block done as new one comes out tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone
