FRIDAY, July 18th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jul 18, 2025 6:53 am

Good morning,

I had another one of those broken nights so I'm getting a late start here. But looks like everyone else is, too! I got a text last night from MARY Q when her plane landed. But she still had a long shuttle ride home, so she will be pretty late, too - but at least she's home, safe and sound.

CHRISS - well, gosh! A heart procedure is nothing to look forward to! But it sounds as if they can do it minimally invasively? Medicine has come a long way. So did you have symptoms - other than fainting in your driveway a few months back - that brought on exam, testing, and discovery of the problem? Will your son come stay with you for a few days during all this? Please keep us posted I hope you love your new pans. They sound heavy. I learned far too late in life not to use Pam or other cooking spray in non-stick pans as it ruins the non-stick surface. Use oil or butter or something else. I ruined a lot of frying pans.

JANA - well it seems you are having to regularly adjust to a new normal, and now another new one. Thank goodness you have such a supportive network in your family. Remind me again what day your anniversary party is?

LORI - I hope everything with your parents' estate is settled soon. Great though, that you have their house to stay in while you remodel yours. And if I reminded you about washing your sheets, you are welcome. I'm finally getting to my laundry today. Yikes! What a job I've left for myself! Got my first load in now.

VAL - You had quite the dental adventure! I don't think any regular dentist does root canals. Some don't even do extractions, so you were lucky there. I hope you aren't in too much pain. Is the root canal on the same tooth or a different one? Will you eventually get an implant there? I had a root canal 20 years ago. They gave me Halcyon before the procedure and the next thing I knew it was all done and they were waking me up! I highly recommend sleeping through the procedure. You are down to less than 7 weeks! I guess if nothing stops us - like our truck still being in the shop - our launch date is going to be Sept 13th~ish. It was 'decreed' yesterday.

JUDI - how did your cardiology appt go?

Yesterday I got my new crown. Then I went to return my cardiac monitor. Apparently I parked in a special place which was by permit only. When I came out I had a $64 parking ticket! This is a very small town. My dad remembered people using horse and buggy to get around. I had no idea we had any place here with such parking restrictions. I even looked for no parking signs but didn't see any. We are disputing the ticket and even sent in our dashcam video which shows that their one little sign, "permit parking only", isn't visible when entering that part of the lot from the direction I was coming from. Fingers crossed.

And speaking of crossing fingers, our truck is still in the shop, awaiting repairs. For 3 weeks now! And the insurance - that subsidiary of AAA - is insisting on using used parts from a wrecked truck - a tailgate and a bumper - and the repair shop can't find any. Our truck, "BART" is 10 yrs old but Bill keeps it in pristine condition. It's red with American graphics on the side panels - a beauty. We are starting to pray we get it fixed before it's time to head south again - which is just 8 weeks from now. We may end up having to get an attorney but they don't come cheap! The repair shop estimated $4500 bill using new parts. So the insurance company is holding things up just for the difference between new and used parts. They offered us a rental when the truck went into the shop. We said we didn't need it - we thought for 2 weeks! I told Bill to call and tell them if they're going to delay us any longer we're going to need that rental after all. I'm getting MAD!

With dental appt, errands, and then the memorial service I attended, my day was pretty eaten up, but I did get my little bolster pillow made so the pillow project with Antonio's jerseys is all wrapped up. I also made a label for BeWitched. This morning I'll get the binding on that one, get baby clothes quilt ready for quilting, and make my LOTR block choices. Also, I have four loads of clothes to do and "somebody's" dog really needs a bath. He has a Sept 2 appt for a groom, but we can't wait that long. He can, but we can't, if you get my drift. So that will also be on the agenda today.

I've got to run - I need shoes on before I meet my walking friend. I'll be back later to proofread what I wrote and see if MQ is awake. :D

Good morning!

Well, slow moving is now a larger part around here. We'll get accustomed, slowly. :)

Thick cloud cover and makes everything quite dark. Hopefully a it of rain too. Trying to get down to the Batt Cave today. I'm so tired of being a sloth! Still, only been 10 days since surgery and I'm really doing better. The bruising is slowly fading into the sunset. Just around my neck now. And I survived using Advil and Tylenol, no hard core drugs,.

Chriss - yes prayers always available!

Another weekend, another set of camping trips. Matt left Wednesday, Aaron leaves this afternoon too. He's got Sarah's trailer for this trip. This trip is with Kate's family, in central Utah.

Well, time to scrounge something for breakfast.

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning Girls

I'M HOME!!!! Up showered and dressed---you know that grubby feeling you have after being in an airplane for hours!! Man I needed a shower!

It's great to be home--though I had a wonderful time with Jen and David and Eli! There's this really neat thrift store in Anchorage called "Anchorage Remade" and it just so happened they were having a fabric sale----all fabric $2.00 a yard... so you know I had to go there (3 times) Ended up buying an little rolling carry on bag at Goodwill to carry it all home! Who could resist that price! And all the patterns for FREE! I think it was fabric from an estate--the family donated the whole kit & caboodle to the thrift store which provides various services for the Anchorage community. Took a drive up to Talkeetna, a cute little town about 2 hours north of Anchorage with all sorts of cute little--but expensive shops. A darling tiny quilt shop, tho I didn't find anything there that I could live without. Took a walk down to the River--though I can't remember the name of it now.

First thing on the TO DO list this morning is to unpack and get laundry started. And I might have to venture out to the grocery store as I left the fridge pretty empty!

It will take me a few days to get caught up with you all! I missed you guys!! I'll come back later on today if I can otherwise I'll catch up tomorrow.. Right now the suitcase awaits! And I'm itching to play with the fabric I bought!

Wishing you all the best today!

58° and overcast. Possibly rain this afternoon.

Chriss, Sending prayers. Your pans look nice, but would be too heavy for my wrists to lift.

Jana, At least you know exactly what is going on with Mr G. Our Dr and I agree that Garry would refuse any testing for dementia or anything else.

Lori, I hope you find a good contractor that gets the job done quickly.

MaryZ, Good idea to emphasize 'Quilting' class. I have almost finished my testing of the pattern.

MaryQ, Hope your flight home was smooth.

Valerie, Hope all your dental wor goes well.

Flo, The shingles must be on a slow boat.

Tina, I hope things are improving for you and yours.

Yesterday we finally got out fishing. Not much to report though. Garry caught a 14 3/4" Walleye. I spent most of my time trying to find the fish and figure out why the live well wasn't running right. When it was time to come back, Garry said there was no point in cleaning just one fish, so we put it back.

Today looks like a good day to fish again, but I will see what Garry wants to do.

Prayers for your needs.
Lyn

Good morning quilty world.

Yesterday was not a good day with the dental work. Headache all day long. Didn't matter what I took. It is mostly gone today but I can feel I will need to be careful. I was able to eat some breakfast this morning but guess it was too soon for toast. The tooth next to the one that was pulled is the one that needs a root canal. The pain has really not been too bad as long as I keep up witht he Motrin every 6 hours. It's the not being able to eat anything but cold food. I don't know where I will go from here with the dentist. I need to look around for better insurance. The extracation alone was almost $900!

Jana that diagnosis sounds really tough. I can't imagine how you must be feeling. Know that you are not alone, we are all here and I know you have good family support. Will be thinking of you and prayers for strength and comfort.

Chriss was hoping for a different outcome. Will be sending prayers for you also. Do you know how soon this surgery might happen? Do you know if it will be done via catheter?

Maryq glad you are home safe and sound. Wow, what a score. Maybe we will find a similar score in MN.

Lyn there will come a time in Dementia that no testing is needed, it is obvious. Hoping that time does not come for Garry. I think some forgetfulness is normal as we age but that is different from Dementia. Glad you were finally able to get out on the water. WE have been having issues with our live well too. We have to go in reverse for a few feet to get it to start filling.

Maryz well that sucks! That happened to me in Sacramento once. It was about the same amount but cost more to fight it so I just paid it. In my case, a city tree in severe need of trimming was blocking the sign.

I think today will be another rest day. Didn't sleep well, first the CPAP just wasn't comfortable last night so slept without it, then pain pill time, then potty break. Who knows, you may all catch me napping today.

Have a great day everyone.

Jana, hope you get back to your old self soon. Sometimes we just don't bounce back as quickly as we used to.

Maryz, seems like I have a bad nights sleep followed by a really good nights sleep. I wish they were more consistent on the good side. I ended up doing all the laundry. Once I started I figured I might as well do it all. Bummer about the parking ticket. Hopefully they'll waive the fee for you.

Hi Maryq, welcome home. Sounds like you had a great time. I love those little shops with lots of cute things, but they are usually expensive. You found a great deal at the Remade store.

Lyn, that sounds like a good catch. Too bad it was only one. Maybe today you catch more. Seems like nothing goes fast in the construction world which is why we will move up the street when the work is being done. Last time we had things done they said 4-6 weeks. 6 months later they were finally done.

Valerie, bummer about the headache. Sounds like he aggravated the tooth when he pulled the other one.

Judi, hope you enjoyed dinner at the Olive Garden. No salt on food would be quite bland. We don't add salt after food is cooked, but I do use a little when cooking. Not too much. And yes the site has been slow for several days.

Chriss, I'm sure that wasn't the diagnosis you were hoping for, but at least they caught it and it can be fixed. Yes, I grew up in that house. We moved there in November 1966. Bill doesn't go though things. He still has boxes of photos sitting by his workbench in the garage since June 2020. They were his dads. I'll have most of the stuff gone through by the time we move in up there.

Me and a quilting friend went to check out a new quilt guild this morning. It just started in February. It's a daytime guild. Their audio was so bad we couldn't understand anything they were saying. So we left and went to a quilt shop near by. Then we met up with a few other quilters for lunch. I came home and worked on a binding. Should have it attached in a bit. Then hand sew it down. Dinner will be breakfast. Eggs, bacon and toast.

Have a lovely evening.

Good evening. I've had a very productive day, it was great.

Got my blood work and ekg done for Tuesday's procedure and wouldn't you know it. The heart surgeon wanted to see me on the same day. I explained that I was having the angiogram so the surgeon will see me on August 8th instead. still seeing the neurosurgeon on the 24th. Lots is getting done in a short period of time.

I thought I was going to have to make some phone calls but I prayed instead, things really moved forward today, Appointments were made and I am so glad. I want this fixed yesterday.

Maryz, I had to google bolster pillow. cool. I really think those cushions are going to be a hit. It's mine isn't it? you mentioned somebody's dog needed a bath, I and that somebody aren't I? Didn't realize you could smell him from there. When will you get the results from your heart monitor? were you having heart issues? Not sure which way the surgeon will want to go for me, I will know more after the 8th. I am grateful that things are moving along and getting attention.

Jana, you might want to put some super glue on the bottom of your kids shoes so they will stick around, ha ha. Sounds like they are totally enjoying the summer. thanks for the prayers.

Maryq, sounds like it was a great time with the kids. And bargains on that fabric was the added bonus. I love that you had to buy a suitcase, too funny.

Lyn, yay, you got to fish. Hope you fished again today. Whenever you mention fishing it reminds me of my grandpa, he used to take me fishing often when I was young. Yes, my pans are quite heavy. Probably too heavy, I do like them but also wish they were a bit lighter. Thanks for the prayers.

Valerie, sorry you didn't sleep well. Hope tonight is much better. My heart doctor mentioned that the surgeon might go either way, but he said they could go open heart. I just want them to do it however they can do their best job. I meet with the surgeon on August 8th and will know more then. Thanks for the prayers. $900 is an expensive extraction. Did you put the tooth under your pillow? Perhaps the tooth fairy can chip in a bit.

Judi, glad the cardiology appointment went well. You'll get those pesky pounds off, you have a year to do it. Salt really is a necessity. I've started using pink salt and like it. Not sure if it's better or worse than white salt, but it does have a different taste.

Lori, I think it's cool that you and Bill found a house near your parents. I'm sure they liked you being close by. Funny about the pictures that Bill hasn't gone through, wonder if he can name all the people in them or if most are scenery. I recently tossed way too many scenery pictures. I am thrilled they caught my issues early and that they are fixable. I'm so thankful I have a proactive doctor and that appointments are happening quickly.

I need to pick out a kitchen sink. I know I want a two equal sided stainless steel sink but not sure what which shape I like best. I wouldn't turn down suggestions.

Dinner tonight was taco salad. I have enough to make it again tomorrow, but think because Lori mentioned bacon I will thaw some out and have a hamburger salad. You all have a great night.
