Good early morning,

So tired, but wide awake at 2:30am. So I've emptied the dishwasher and now here I am with a cuppa Sleepytime tea and thou's.

VAL - I have found QIAD site to be sluggish the last few mornings, too. We checked all our own internet connections and found them to be running normally. I remember your Blueberries & Cream. I never caught on that it was the same as your Blue Stars. But I get that - Stars is less cumbersome to type. Like Baby Clothes Quilt is easier to just say ABC. I hope you can get into your dentist quickly before your tooth gets worse.

LOIS - that butterfly quilt is going to make an awesome gift that will be treasured for a long time to come.

JUDI - I hate having to wait until stores open at 10am. I had to sit in the car, and then stand outside the door of a store yesterday. The employees were on the other side but refused to open the doors until exactly 10am. So they on the inside and we on the outside all watched our clocks. Arghhh.. Such happy news about your DDIL.

JANA - you are too kind and patient. After Bill retired he wanted to rearrange my kitchen. I told him he could have at it - but that meant he would be taking over all the kitchen responsibilities - lists, shopping, planning, prep, cooking, and cleaning - everything the kitchen person does. Because only that person gets to say where everything goes - for their convenience. I never heard another word about him rearranging the kitchen. Too bad. For a few minutes there I thought I would be turning over all the cooking duties. But your Mr G does seem to enjoy arranging and rearranging things. Can you give him the garage to arrange? Or his office? Train stuff? I know - the barn! And I didn't hear that we now have kittens!! So glad they got two. Maybe I hear three?? Can't wait to hear the name Karlie comes up with.

LORI - I think we have a lot of bad influencers in our crowd! :D And isn't it great?!

CHRISS - I hope you find what you need to finish the little chair. Sending good thoughts with you to the cardiologist tomorrow.

MARY Q - What is on your tourist agenda today? You fly home on Thursday, right? You were talking about taking the train to Whittier. But then thought the train was too expensive (and it is!), but you could always drive instead. It's not a long drive from Anchorage - 1 or 2 hours. And lots of scenery with pullouts to see along the way. If you are lucky you might even see beluga whales in the sound. And if you drove you could see the beautiful visitor center before you go through the tunnel to Whittier. And you do have to pay a fee to go through the tunnel - and wait your turn because trains and opposing traffic share the tunnel. But a very fun trip! Since this is probably your last trip to Alaska, I really hope you are able to get out and see some of the state's beauty.

Yesterday I finished my Christmas Swap blocks and Bill finished quilting Ohio Star. I now have that trimmed. This morning's task will be to make a label and binding and sew them on. Then this afternoon I will start studying Antonio's football jerseys and decide the best way to use them in making pillow covers. Not sure yet what size they will turn out to be. I have an appointment at 2:30 that will cut into my afternoon.

I sent a card and note to Kathy in MA a few weeks ago. I've received no reply from her. Supper is going to be a surprise! I have quite a bit of leftover chicken. So maybe a chef's salad and chicken.

I'll probably check back in later this morning to see what everyone is up to.

I have started another Minecraft quilt our chiropractor assistant has a 5 year old grandson love Minecraft her daughter is a single mom and they struggle sometimes she doesn't know I'm making it I have 1 block made and 2 others to sew already cut so that's what I'm doing.

Good morning Maryz and others who are slepping soundly. I slept til 645 this morning I crash at night, I did get up 3 times though, Not sure why I try not to drink anything after 7 to prevent trips at n ight but some nights???
I did get about 75% of the quilt cut out used a lot of my QOV fabric, and some from the scrap bin. I also realized I had a mason jar of skinny trims, I saw a kit somewhere that turned a quart mason jar into a small lamp and thought these trims would look cute in the sewing room..but I never made it and I still add to that jar out of habit.
Today I will run to the grocery store and try to come up with somthing for supper..maybe my grandmothers goulash ( beef chunks and onions and lots of seasoning) over noodles..I make a large pot and freeze some for future meals...Ken ate the last serving of chicken noodle soup for his lunch yesterday so I will need a cool day to make more of that,,another freezer favorite.
Hope you all have great day.
Mary I too sent a card to Sherri in Ohio to let her know we are thinking about her,,,the card didnt come back and I havent heard, My will has a note that if something happens to me,,the log in for the forum and instructions on how to let you all know is written out. I know that probably sounds morbid but I sit and wonder how gals are that dont come here and say good morning,
Lois you snuck in on me...Hope your water recedes,,,Im wondering why all the rain and flooding,,,,everywhere, we dont get a lot of rain lately and we could use it...I see thunderstorms are forcast for today .....maybe
Have a wonderful day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Today kids coming for supper. Their anniversary is next week and they don't know I'm making them a cake. I even broke out my cake decorating toys. Plus all yesterday stuff that didn't get done.
No word on start of roof.argggg

Good morning,

And I'm back. I did get another 1.5 hrs of sleep so I'll probably be able to make it through the day.

JUDI - Sometimes I think about saving my sliver trims or even my thread orts in a jar. But then I look around my sewing room and can't think where I'd put that jar! Even my window sill is already full except for where Foxy likes to look out. So I toss them. But I'd be glad to save them for you if you wish! :D

LOIS - I didn't realize that Rosie had moved. Does she live close to you? I saw on the weather news that you were in for a lot of rain and flooding. Praying it's nothing like Texas has been seeing.

FLO - happy anniversary to your kids. How many years have they been married? What's for supper besides a specially decorated cake? Bummer about the roof. I hope you are first on their schedule when those shingles arrive. Or have they arrived and the company just hasn't called you yet? . . . I have my father's suspicious nature.

I've been thinking about all my leftover chicken. I think I'll shred it and make BBQ'd chicken sandwiches with salad on the side. And maybe potato chips. Well, I'm off for more coffee, get dressed, and meet Lori Across The Road for our daily walk. Right now we are walking from 7 to 8 am. Our times change as we lose or gain daylight and also to miss the bulk of the school traffic when school is in session. A high school and a grade school are 1/2 mile down the road which is a lot of traffic Sept to June.

Later, Dudettes!

Good morning, no sewing today at the LQS but will try to get some in later at home. Slept a bit later this morning as what up during the night. Also need to get some chores done. Mainly kitchen counters and coffee table. Might dust.

I received my Ryan's Sampler back from the long armer yesterday. She found another new pattern to put on it. It goes nicely. She really does do a good job and I never have to wait long. I have the binding cut, just need to sew the strips together and get it on the quilt. I sew my bindings on the back by hand so they are piling up. But that's okay. Except for Xavier's, none of them have a final destination. I am going to try and take some on the trip for hand sewing.

Chriss positive thoughts as you approach the cardiology appointment today. Did I see Moose caught a snake? Wow, he needs to be careful doing that. Please explain to him that all snakes are not nice!

Jana I don't remember hearing about kittens either. When did that happen? I guess not too long ago?

Lois I had planned a minecraft quilt at one time, the grands have all grown up now so now I see no reason too. They're all about Dungeons and Dragons now. My son and his family went to DeSmet, SD last weekend to see the Ingalls Family home, etc. He sent me pictures of his two and while I have seen pics of the granddaughter recently, I had not seen any of my Grandson in a long time. Wow, he used to be little and scrawny, now he is tall and has muscles.

Judi I have wondered what happened to girls who just stop showing up. I guess at our ages, anything could happen. I never thought of writing instructions down though, that's a good idea. I have not written a will yet. Not sure why but have been thinking about it. I have one large glass container that sits on the hearth that is full of fabric, most of the rest I have disposed of in some manner. I decided I would never use those little buggers so why keep them.

Flo so sorry to hear about the roof. Wondering if you should look into the company a bit further. I think the wife could be biased as cops tend to stick together. I know here in my wonderful little town (NOT!) they are not all on the up and up. But the have a strong union so ........

Well, I need more coffee and some breakfast and to start my day. You all have a great one!

Good morning!

It's going to be a hot one. The century mark is in play for the valley. But I'm up the side of the bench, so it takes a lot for my house to be that hot. Usually we're a few degrees cooler.

Heard from our Andrew yesterday. A fun story. We lived in Concord for 37 years, in the same house and Ward. I have many great friends there. My kids do too. One of my friends is the mom of five boys, which are close to my kids ages. All were buddies and friends and scouts together growing up. My friend was my kids piano teacher too. Daniel worked for that family in their architecture business once too.. well,, the fun on Sunday. The Ward members in Andrew's mission feed the missionaries serving in their Ward. Andrew and his companion went to a home of a member for dinner. Oh, every missionary wears a name tag, with the church's name and their name.. So the member sees the name on Andrew and asks where he's from, common question. Andrew answered, South Jordan. Oh, said the member, I knew a family in Concord CA where I grew up. Thought maybe you were part of that family. Andrew's eyes lit up and told the member, that yes he was! And who his dad is and who we are! The member is the third child of my friend who my kids grew up with! Matt is just older than this member and knows him well! So we got a picture of the two of them at dinner together. What a small world we really live in! We are put in places by God and He knows for what reasons. Nothing is coincidence!

Yes, we get the kittens. On around the 24th, both willbe spayed and neutered, then we get them. Kari and Karlie are buying and stocking up cat toys already.

Mr G has Dr appointments this week. Sarah is handling those. Crenda took Ethan to music camp this morning. The guest artist that is teaching at camp is John Williams 's assistant. John Williams is known for his days with the Boston Pops, Star Wars, Olympic theme music, how to train your dragon, and so many more. The assistant helped in all of those too. The kids on Friday are presenting a concert playing many of those pieces, under his baton. Camp is a day camp, where Sarah works with the orchestras. She still does volunteer for them, hence Ethan goes to camp. Oh, Ethan moved up to a next level up orchestra, he's just two levels from the main Philharmonic group.

I'm doing better each day. Bruising is slowly disappearing. So far, lost 10 lbs or more. Not a method I'd recommend! Karlie will be here today. Kari has on site work meetings for a couple of hours today. Daniel will work from home tomorrow and Karlie will be with him. This is busy work weeks for everyone!

Time to scoot, I may see the Batt Cave today. The squirrels and bats are getting lonely and y'all know what mischief that could be!

Hugs,
Jana

Rain and wind coming from the west, again.

MaryZ, The handyman in Texas also checks the house when we're gone. He was there over the weekend, all is well except the yard needs mowed. Called the lawn guy and he's having trouble with his zero turn mower, which is why he hasn't mowed. Of course raining almost every day since the 1st hasn't helped either. Friend, Carol, says Lake Travis is still rising. I see posts on FB about the flood gates being opened up stream.

I had trouble getting on here yesterday, also, so gave up.

Yesterday I went to the store about noon. Y'all talk about going early, but that doesn't work well here. They only get in food a couple times a week and yesterday they were just starting to put the produce out at noon, so I had first dibs. Minnie and I were outside and a couple was walking by and stopped. Turned out to be the quilter, Pearl, that had forgotten her needles last year. Elaine, owner matriarch, had told Pearl I might have hand sewing needles and I did and had given her a couple. She had owned a quilt shop years ago and she only hand sews, all of it. We had a nice visit. Leftovers, we had bacon wrapped pork tenderloin I needed to use. I decided to get creative, found a Rice-a-Roni in the pantry and had a red bell pepper I cut up. Added a little Orange sauce on top and it was real tasty. There's some left so that and a side salad will be dinner tonight.

Hope y'all have a good day.
Lyn

Good morning. Today will be a great day. Not sure why just yet but I'm pretty sure something will make it great.

I posted a video on FB, Moose caught a snake. It's called a racer snake, the one he caught is black with bright green stripes along it's sides. A whipsnake. Thankfully he didn't eat it. I put it down a squirrel hole.

Maryz, funny about the kitchen rearranging. I wish Jana would send Mr. G over here to rearrange my garage. Such a hodge podge of stuff. Looking forward to seeing the jersey pillows. A million designs run through my mind.

Lois, glad the flood didn't affect you. That is going to be one excited and surprised little boy who gets the Minecraft quilt. What a great gift.

Judi, I also need to hit the grocery store, I will likely wait until tomorrow when the new ads come out. I don't think your note is morbid, I think I will do the same. We don't seem to get the rain we used to get either. Maybe the earth is drying up and will become one big desert.

Flo, I wish I had a talent for making pretty cakes, my talent ends at eating them. Hope that roof covers your house soon.

Valerie, I saw Moose run after that snake and knew it wasn't a rattle snake. He's pretty good at hearing me when I say NO with authority. He seems to be able to hear the mom tone in my voice. I hope you consider putting together a will, or a trust, soon. so many family feuds happen over money and things. A friend of mines son died, he didn't have a will and she can't do anything until it all goes through probate. He's in LA so it will likely take a while. Glad your quilt is back and it suits you. I bet it's gorgeous.

Jana, glad you are feeling better and lighter. when you said you lost 10 more pounds I'm wondering if your anniversary outfit might be a bit baggy? Glad Karlie gets her kittens. what fun to shop for a pet, I bet she's so excited. High five to Ethan for moving up. My first thought when I read Andrew's story was how cool that he met a familiar person. You know how it is. You go to a strangers house and put on your best manners and sit up straight, but this person recognized Andrew and he was able to slouch a bit and be comfortabler. How wonderful that God put him in a comfortabler situation. I bet the corners of his smile touched both ears.

Lyn, Nice to hit the market in time for good produce. Hope those waters sink into the ground and don't rise up. I wish there were a way to send it over here

When I turn on my computer in the morning I see news stories mixed with informational stuff. Sometimes they start with "I'm a doctor and I say" or I'm a fitness expert, or stuff like that. Reminds me of that old game show "What's my line" Just because they say it doesn't mean it's true. Kind of like the things you see for sale that start with Vintage or Cute. These enticements, like the ads to hire an accident injury lawyer on tv make me laugh.

I need a trip to the hardware store, breakfast, and heaven knows what else. You all have a fun day
Chriss

Maryz, I was up at 1:30 but I think I finally fell back asleep by 2:30. Then woke up again about 5:30. I'm a little tired today as well. And yes, I love the bad influencers in our crowd too. That's a funny story about Bill rearranging the kitchen. My Bill has never even thought to rearrange anything, kitchen or otherwise. He did wash some windows yesterday, so he's on the nice list today.

Chriss, I saw the video of Moose. He seems very happy with himself. Glad he didn't eat it. There is so much crap on the internet these days you can't believe anything. Hope your appointment goes well.

Lyn, glad you have people looking out for you house in TX. It's good to know when they put stuff out at the grocery store. I'm lucky to have a year round farmers market with fresh produce. You only get what's in season which is fine. I got some delicious plums, apricots, and peaches last week. I thing the apricots are done for the season.

Jana, small world. Nice for Andrew to meet them. Glad the bruising is going away. I imagine it take a while.

Valerie, you sure get a lot of quilts finished. How much does you quilter charge?

Lois, sounds like a good day to stay home.

Judi, I've seen those lamps. I like to cut everything out prior to sewing. Then I can just pick up parts and sew whenever.

I remember Kathy was having some health issues and then computer problems. Hopefully she's doing well. I think most of us have someone's phone number so we can call or text if they disappear. I texted Tina the other day. She said she was busy working and didn't have anytime to sew these days.

I got my walk in with the boys. I made a Belgium waffle since I had leftover batter from Sunday. They are so yummy. I just eat them like toast with a little butter. I need to do some paperwork today. I have a meeting with the attorney tomorrow. I'll be glad when all this is resolved. I got the binding cut for my quilt, but need to put it on. Then I only have 7 more quilts to quilt. Yay! I got the kit for KT Christmas sampler yesterday. I'm going to wash all the fabric today. I might start cutting that one out. It looks pretty easy since its a sampler. It has some really cute blocks.

Have a lovely day.
