Sunday July 13th
Good morning I slept late again today,,,7 is late for me. We have a birthday party at 3 so a few chores will get done...right now i will make breakfast and put clean sheets on our bed,
Not much going onhere,,it will be pizza for supper at the party. Ice cream and cake for dessert...Hope you are all doing well...
I think this week I will cut and start the Made in America quilt. I am tired of stitching by hand and want to get a quilt top done...the hand work will stay out on my desk to do whenever there isnt time for actual sewing with the machine,,,I tend to take a few stitches as I go through the day,,,when I need a minute or 2 break....youd think Id get a lot of stitching done but it is slow work too...
Happy sunday to you all....prayers for America and all who need it....Colleen's father in law is not handling his diagnosis well and seems to be in the anger stage...he is angry at everyone right now and could use some prayers...as well as his family...its hard to watch . It reminds us that our time on earth could be done anytime...hug your loved ones and mend your fences...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
PS I found the Kansas trouble Christmas sampler for 225.50 with free shipping from Rossville Quilts. in case anyone is interested...I'm thinking on it

Re: Sunday July 13th
Good morning,
Happy Sunday, everyone!
JANA - it's good to see you are improving. You had quite an ordeal this past week. How did your BP do through it all? We must have a 100 days things, too, because it seems lately there have been a LOT of fatality crashes in our area, too.
LORI - funny - when it comes to potato salad, there just can't be too many eggs in it! and I like sliced black olives in mine - though diced will work if that's what I accidentally buy. And finely diced dill pickles, too! And smoked paprika, and, of course, Miracle Whip. Looks like I won't be having to share with you and Jana! Is the KT Vintage Christmas you and Val are doing the Sampler? Because when I Googled it, more than one Vintage Christmas popped up. I liked the Sampler. Though I have about 15 Christmas quilts already. But this would be a nice Texas project this winter . . .
LYN - a bummer about the smoke. I don't suppose it's going to clear any time soon unless the wind changes. And nope - didn't go trash diving for my temporary tooth. I think I did toss it into the fire. But so far, I'm limping along without it OK. Only 4 more days to go.
CHRISS - I think it would be cute to have a 'fourple' picture frame - four generations with the chair. And three of them would be little people and the fourth would be your tall, good-looking son standing next to the chair in his photo!
JUDI - I'm sorry for your DD's FIL. As nurses we know that anger is one of the stages of grief. And anger has to have a target and the target is usually family. It's tough on the patient and the family. I hope you enjoy the birthday party today. I always hope for chocolate cake at birthday parties because I can leave it alone. But if it's white - outa my way 'cuz I'm goin' in!
MARY Q - are you going to Talkeetna today? There is an RV park right next to the train station. Take a drive by it. You can see where we park when we are there in our RV. Though our last visit was in the car so we stayed in a tiny 100+ yr old cabin behind The Roadhouse. It is fun just to walk around the town and look at these old buildings. And don't forget the river! You can't actually see it from the town, but it's there, behind trees and tons of head-high ferns.
FLO - I hope your roofing comes this week!
VAL - Only 7-1/2 weeks until you leave on your trip!!
Yesterday the last of our guests left about 11:30am after breakfast. It was a nice visit with everyone but it's good to be back to ourselves again. We have a Boondocker coming in July 17 & 18. From FL. Their DD works at the military base near us so they are visiting her. They have the exact same fifth-wheel that we have. Bill "met" them on the Arctic Fox website while 'talking' 12-volt refrigerators. So, since our kids are still gone until July 24th, we have room for them. I spent the afternoon working on the ABC quilt. I have one little detail to add and then I can start assembling. I've taken 3 tee shirts and a pair of little pants and "hung" them on a stitched clothesline. I need to add "clothespins". I'm hoping to get this top together today. And Bill said he is going to start quilting my Ohio Star. It's supposed to be 87* today so the sewing rooms will get pretty toasty by mid afternoon. We don't have AC so we may move to the shady outside and read books. Or to our trailer, where we DO have A/C.
Supper tonite is going to be leftover fried onions, noodles, and hamburger. With a salad. BTW, we tried those pre-cooked 1/4# Angus burgers from Costco and they got rave reviews from folks at the BBQ, just in case any of you have seen them and wondered if they were any good.
Hope all is right with your world today!

Re: Sunday July 13th
Sunny and windy. Haven't been out yet so not sure how smoky smelling.
Judi, Sending prayers for the FIL. Enjoy the birthday party and if the cake is chocolate, have a piece for me, please.
MaryZ, I hope the uncovered tooth doesn't bother you. Have you heard from L&L and how the shake down is going, besides the saw? I have a small tree trimming saw on board. Sadly it was purchased after the light scrap line of the paint on the side of the MH.
Are you sewing clothes pins or using the little tiny real ones?
Lori, I did give in to Minnie wanting to sit outside yesterday afternoon and had my book in hand. They smoke had improved some.
After doing dishes, I worked on a project that I'm testing. I saw a book advertised that I thought Garry might like, so I downloaded the sample onto my Kindle, then after he read that, bought and loaded the book. Then I walked and fed Minnie. Smoke had improved, so Minnie and I went outside for our little happy hour. Barb, who is the head housekeeper that works here, stopped after work and visited. She and her hubby had been in a trailer across the road from us for years. Then the Resort built a long building and made 5 small apartments for employees, which is down by the road coming in. We don't see Barb much now and her hubby took a job closer to their home about 50 miles away. Dinner was a big salad with cut up pork tenderloin on top.
I will sew today. Not sure what dinner will be.
It's raining again at our house in Texas and the areas that were flooded, please say a prayer for the first responders and those who have lost loved ones.

Re: Sunday July 13th
Good morning everyone and a blessed Sunday to you all. DH has been off for 3 days, he is back to work today and so I can get back to my routine.
Maryq when I was in Norway it was summer time so we also had sun from 3 am to midnight. Took a bit of getting used too. I think it messes with your inner clock. I was there a month though so did get somewhat used to it. Looking forward to seeing Jen's artwork.
Lyn you could get the pattern and have it sent to your US address? I think the sewing will be much easier than the cutting. We are in a few days of cool mornings and only getting into the 70's. Maybe higher 70's today but think I will leave the AC off. I turned it on a bit yesterday but then turned it off. We were able to go walk at the Eucalyptus grove and I actually got bit cold. We are having a lot of windy days this summer. Is it just my imagination or is Canada having more fires in recent years than it used to.
Chriss I have a few chores that should be done today as DH really gets in my way when he is home but I think I will give it one more day. I didn't realize the chair was an heirloom. Not sure how I missed that. We used to have a child size roll top desk that my grandfather made. I have no idea what happened to it.
Maryz yes the KT Vintage quilt is the sampler. I also ordered their All Wound Up pattern. It was another Christmas one I think but I am not going to worry about having Christmas looking fabric.
Judi I have been actually going back to bed many mornings and catching another hour or two of sleep. That's a great price on that quilt. Not sure what the shipping would be but certainly much less than buying it here. Our shop took orders and only ordered for those who signed up for it. No extra except one lady then declined hers. I wanted to at $309 but since I signed up, I went ahead and took it. They did not have a price when we signed up.
Jana that sounds like a wonderful program. DH just got a new TV thing and not sure if we get the BYU channel. Will have to check that out.
Well I have made some progress on my Blue Stars and if I am to make any more progress today I must get going. Have a great day everyone.

Re: Sunday July 13th
Good morning!
Playing hooky from church today. I'm getting better, but I would scare the bejeezers out of the Ward. You see, my face, swelling is almost gone, is quite bruised. From my cheekbone, down under all the way under my chin. Both sides, a nice deep purplish red blue, and it's starting to heal. But you know bruises, they turn green first, so that's starting here. So I'm now green! Remember Kermit, the frog, singing, it's not easy being green, currently my theme song!
Got some camp stories about Ethan's week from Sarah. Ethan is the senior patrol leader, so he lead the boys, organizing duty rosters, etc. He's a hands on leader, stepping in and doing right with them in all. He was recognized as the Scout of the Week, by the entire camp. He also won the Dime Award for shooting. That means, he hit the bullseye, 5 times, in no more space than a dime could cover. That's a small area! He also swam the mile swim in the cold mountain lake and finished that. Ethan also earned several merit badges he needs for his Eagle award by next summer. I think he did very well!
Getting some energy yesterday and even did the dishes.
Choir broadcast is on, need to go. Enjoy this beautiful day!
Sing!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Sunday July 13th
HI! I'm baaackk...!
I spent the morning working on my ABC quilt. And it is DONE! Whew! I sent a photo to Autumn and she liked it, though admitted she had expected to be more patchworky and less artsy. I don't think she knows what patchworky actually means. I hope she wasn't disappointed. I will try to post a photo here but right now either our internet or QIAD is moving very slowly. Maybe it's the heat. It IS 88*, after all. Or maybe it's the 'operator'.
JANA - I think you made a good call to skip church this morning. Though have to admit, I would love to see a photo of you!!
Bruises tend to move downward so not surprised you have a Kermit neck - gravity, you know. But I love Kermit! And green is one of my very favorite colors!
JUDI - how is the birthday party going? I forgot exactly how old river is. Six? Seven? They grow so fast I can hardly keep track of our own let alone everybody else else’s. But the big question chocolate, White, other?
LYN, I think L&Ls shakedown is going well. They bought a little saw, probably like the one you described, and cut away the offending, scraping branches. They dumped their tanks and there was no "incident" for which they were grateful! (when at our house they had to use a macerating pump and a long (designated!) garden hose to reach our septic tank inlet so this was their first time using their trailer sewer hose.) This weekend is their big weekend, providing meals, showers, and a place to sleep for the STP (Seattle to Portland) bikers. (204 miles, done in two days). Last year we were the support vehicle, but this year, they are happy to be doing it. Their son, Drew, had to withdraw due to shift change and added hours at work. No training time. But this evening after work, he will drive down to spend the night with his parents and his 4 biking buddies. L&L will be back here July 24th, I think.
I will try to post my photo now. I also have photos to post to the Christmas Swap site so will try to get that done. IF the internet will allow.

Maryz, your quilt is so cute. I too put black olive slices in my potato salad. Along with pickle, and green onions. Sounds like L&L are enjoying their new journey. Glad they get to be the support this year.
Judi, was the party fun? It's always nice when you get a day off from cooking. Sorry to hear about Colleen's father. Absolutely do what you need to do now. Looks like you found an even better price. That's $40 cheaper than mine. The extra was for tax and shipping.
Lyn, glad you had a friend stop by. Did you get to sew today?
Valerie, I'm with you, it's easier to clean when the house is empty. What is the Blue Stars quilt? I don't remember that one.
Jana, it's probably best that you stayed home. Ethan is quite a good shot.
I worked on quilting a top today. It's about 1/2 done. Nothing fancy. Just stitch in the ditch. We had Lasagna and raviolis for dinner from our local independent restaurant. It was quite yummy and clean up was a breeze.
Sleep well.
