Morning
I actually git alot done yesterday with my toddler friend. We went out front and she played with my chickens while I watered plants. She had a blast gathering the eggs. Then we went in back yard and she played at her water table for 2hrs while I weeded planter area. Still a lot of weeding to do. With all the rain and getting porch roof reframed things got ignored. When I brought her in for lunch, she fell asleep in her plate. That was cute.
Today supposed to rain.
Maryq when I went to Alaska we went to Juneau, Sitka,& Ketchikan. Sitka was my favorite.
Have a sew great day

Lori When I saw the price of the kit I thought it was high but then I realized I have spent at least thst much on a few quilts I have made ( especially Jane Austin with all the specialty fabric I bought) When we have a stash and shop out of it is is easy to forget what the actual cost of quilts are,

Good morning,
FLO - how old is your little toddler friend? 2? Sounds adorable. When you went to Alaska were you on a cruise or the ferry?
MARY Q - Saving Talkeetna for Sunday is a good plan. I checked the weather forecast and Sunday is the best bet to see Denali. There is an vista point on the left side of Talkeetna Rd before you get to the town and if the mountain is out, it's a spectacular view! But it's only out 25% of the time. And don't mail your package home (if you do) until after you go to the "gift shop" in Talkeetna. It's called the Patchwork Moose. I texted you a link. And it really is a gift shop as well as a quilt shop.
LYN - nice of you to make labels for Carol. And a back up labels, too! I hope today is Lynday. And if you've already had Lynday, then I hope you do a Ground Hog Day trick and have it again!
CHRISS - I love Lyn's idea of taking a photo of Elliott standing next to that little chair and put it in a frame with his great gramma's photo. Did your dad (or mom?) and you use that chair, too, when you were little?
LORI - I'm glad you are getting a refund. You don't need two copies of an expensive pattern! Is this the KT Vintage Christmas Sampler? It is a tempter for sure! I'm trying to resist.
JANA - so how did your appt yesterday go? I hope you are able to get something down besides jello.
JUDI - you sneaked in there just before I hit submit. It will be nice for Ken to have some help. I have to say, I'm loving that we finally got a little help in our yard. I can't believe I used to have that same energy!
My yesterday went great. I finished the last 'block' or maybe we'll call it a 'section' on my ABC quilt. Just have a little stitching to do on it. Then I'll put stablizer on the scraps and cut them to whatever size I need to fit all the blocks together like sashing. Whew! I'm coming down to the finish line on this one and glad of it! It's been a head scratcher. But it's turning out cute! I have two more "gotta do" projects - the pillow's from Antonio's two football jerseys, and Drew's LOTR tablerunner. Bill finally got my red & white Ohio Star loaded on the LA. Maybe this afternoon he'll actually start quilting, using a meander and star pattern.
Our BBQ was nice, nearly everyone showed up. Food was good, conversation was interesting. We had a nice fire going just before we discovered there is a TOTAL burn ban - not even backyard firepits allowed. So we let it die down and we were happy the fire department didn't crash our party. But we were plenty warm without it. One other little snaffu was my temp crown fell out and I didn't realize it for what it was. I thought it was a little bit of tortellini that didn't get cooked all the way through, and I tossed it away! Grrr.... That's what I get for drinking wine while eating tortellini.
We are making french toast and bacon at 9am for the two couples that are left here. Then they will leave and we'll get on with the day. I HOPE to get Amara's quilt finished today or tomorrow. Quilting it might be a challenge but a challenge for another week.
Our weather is supposed to be mid to upper 80's for at least the next 10 days. I can dig it! And speaking of digging, our little gardener was here yesterday and worked his tail off for four hours. And when Bill showed him how to run the tractor he was really happy. It's fun! He's coming back Aug 1st.
Well, I've chatted your eyeballs out by now. Time to go hit the shower. It's the weekend! Hope you all have time to play!

Good morning. It's going to be a great day today. Not sure just why yet but it will be great.
Nothing really exciting going on here. Not even sure what I will do today, mostly it will be indoors. Seems like just last week I was hoping for hot weather so my tomatoes would ripen, well I got it.
Lyn, my plan is to take the photo's and make a little story book that hopefully will be handed down. Sadly I don't have a picture of my son with the chair when he was young. I will look into vintage decals, thanks.
Maryq, today is the day. That fabric sale awaits. Wonder if it would be cheaper to mail it home or pay the luggage fee?
Flo, instead of calling it baby sitting you should call it a kid wearing out session. Funny she fell asleep before finishing lunch, she must have been so tired
Judi, I will post a picture of the chair when I am done. Glad you caught up on sleep.
Maryz, sorry about the temp crown. glad about the yard work. I have a picture of each generation (grandma, dad, me) with that chair. I didn't get one of my son, wish I had.
I think I will get moving. Not sure what dinner will be but yesterday was high carb and today needs to be low carb. Perhaps a tuna salad. Hope you all have super day

Good morning!
Doing better today. Still sore, but not bad. Very odd feels with the implants. Told to take it easy still on eating, for another week or so. I remind me that surgery was only 4 days ago and I need to be patient.
Aaron has worked a lot of OT the last few days. Car, motorcycle crashes with fatalities. Not the fun part of his job. The latest crash involved a well-known prime time news anchor. He was fine and uninjured. The other , not fine ar all. Utah has what we call 100 deadly days of summer. It's going strong, the wrong way!
My boys all get home from camp today. Sarah has talked a tiny bit to Joseph and camp has been good. Camp is barely north from the Teton peaks , on their side too. Beautiful area! One of my favorites, Yosemite being the first, with the Tetons second. Family dinner tomorrow and I'll hear some of the escapades. It's bear country too. Aaron is smoking a mishmash of ribs, salmon, burgers, what ever I had here that needed using up. I get potato salad, mashed style! Saw a recipe using a ricer for the potato and since I hate, detest, and dislike pickles, they stay out. Just mayo mustard, potato and hard boiled egg, seasoned with celery salt. Oh. I hate celery chunks too!
Well tifor breakfast . Mr G is cooking his. He's not adept at all in the kitchen, so simple scrambled eggs takes him 30 minutes! And he uses Egg Beaters! Mine will be jello. If he remembers! LOL! Oh, I love cream of wheat cereal.
Hugs,
Jana
Chriss - add onenow of your son. Just have him kneel beside.

Windy, smoky and possible storms. The wind is out of the NW, there's lots of wildfires in Manitoba. It will be a stay in day and short Minnie walks.
Judi, It's good to sleep in and catch up on rest.
Chriss, Do you have a picture of your son at the age he would have used the chair? If so maybe you could manipulate two photos together and it would look like he's next to the chair. I have a friend who did that. She took a photo of guys in a boat and put it in a picture of the sewer lagoon up here, with the caption, "Fish'n for sewer bass"
MaryZ, Sorry about the temp crown. I'm surprised you didn't trash dive or did it get thrown in the illegal fire? Looking forward to seeing ABC quilt when finished.
MaryQ, My neighbors from Colorado that are full time RV'ers now, are in Alaska. They were lucky and saw the Mtn several times while in that area. Photos were beautiful, hope it a good day for you to see it.
I got the labels mailed and the post lady assured me they weren't going on strike, but I have no idea how long it will take to get to Texas. Before the smoke got bad, Minnie and I sat outside and I read a couple chapters and had some friends stop by to visit.
Today has options in sewing, not sure what I will work on. Dinner will be leftover pork tenderloin and probably a salad.
Lyn

Lyn, bummer about the smoke and wind. I like to sit outside and read in our backyard.
Glad you got the labels done and in the mail.
Jana, the nice thing about making potato salad yourself is you can do whatever you want. I leave out the eggs. I like them, they just take over the flavor sometimes. They can stay on the side. Glad you are healing. Salmon sounds good. Maybe I'll pull that out of the freezer. It takes Bill forever to prepare a simple tuna sandwich. I don't know why.
Chriss, so now the tomatoes will all ripen at once. That's what usually happens. Have you done any sewing lately?
Maryz, French toast and bacon sounds yummy. I just had bacon and an English muffin. Same thing.
oopsie on the fire. I don't usually know when there is a no burn. Ours are usually in the winter when it's overcast with no wind. Glad you had a good time with friends. You should join Valerie and me with the KT vintage Christmas. It's really cute.
Maryq, sounds like you are having a good time. Hope you get to spend time in the quilt shop/gift shop. I love all the fun things they sell in gift shops.
Judi, it always takes me a few days to recover from vacation. I've found that it's less expensive to buy a kit. When I buy the fabric for a pattern, I usually buy too much and have leftovers. And it's close to $15 a yard here.
Flo, sounds like a nice day outside even if it was working in the yard.
There is a hummingbird out side my window going from flower to flower on the Jasmine. They are so fun to watch. It's much cooler this morning. Only supposed to be about 80 all week long. I'll take it. It's overcast and breezy. I finished the binding on the Christmas quilt, and also an embroidered tea towel yesterday. I'm going to go get a backing for a quilt today and work on that. I think I'll make Salmon and rice with a veggie for dinner.
Have a lovely day.

Thought I'd add about a special program tomorrow. The Tabernacle Choir will be performing/presenting its 5000 continuous broadcast in the morning. Music and the Spoken Word first aired in 1929. A family member climbed and sat on a ladder in the Tabernacle. Mr G's grandfather was groomed and trained to become 9ne of the conductors, until the copper mine closed and he left for a job in Oakland California. He there later had a similar music program on Sunday mornings on a San Francisco radio station for many years.
Tomorrow's performance starts at 9:30 am, live, mountain daylight time. The choir is singing the first song performed in 1929. The Morning Breaks, one of my favorites.
Many stations carry the weekly broadcast, as well as BYUTV, which is free to watch.
It will be a wonderful program. Not many programs have been around 96 years!
