Good morning,
60* here this morning, going to about 82*. Purrfect! Tomorrow we dip to 70 with a bit of rain, then back to the low 80's. Still purrfect!
LORI - I've only seen fireflies a couple of times but they were so fun to watch. I had to laugh at your dog hair in the fridge comment yesterday. Bill was opening his new Blackstone stove last night on the deck and found cat hair! He had seasoned it but we hadn't cooked on it yet. And of course made a husband~ish comment about the cat hair. I had to share about you finding dog hair in the fridge.
CHRISS - I have to ask: What is a roundy roundy in hula hoop vernacular? I won a prize when I was 5 yrs old for hula hooping the longest at Billy Carlson's birthday party (just before his dog Skeeter bit me and Auntie Lou had to take me in the house and sit me in a tub of water to clean the bite and so I missed the ice cream and cake and had to go home early!) but I never have heard the phrase "roundy roundy" which seems odd for an old hula hooping pro such as myself. I have a stack of puzzles. My sisters buy them at thrift stores and give them to me. I occasionally get on a puzzle kick and will work 3 or 4 in a row. But Foxy likes to "help" and with one switch of his helping tail there goes a dozen pieces! So I don't do them too often. Too much trouble!
MARY Q - today is Fly Day!! I can't believe it's finally here! Fly safe! And above all, enjoy the trip. I hope you get to do some sight seeing. I think you will miss the Alaska State Fair in Palmer, but there are a couple of very scenic drives close to Anchorage - Hatcher Pass between Wasilla and Palmer and Hope Road which is close to Eagle River. Easy day drives. Take a picnic! I've heard of the game "Kings Crowns" but never played it. Check alert levels before you fly if you're thinking of taking a crochet hook along for the flight. We flew to Mexico once, no problem, but on the way back, they confiscated my crochet hook. And it was my mother's!
LYN - sorry no fish were tempted by your bait. Do you fly fish or bait or ?? My dad liked to tie his own flies. Do you have a washer/dryer in your MH? Lee & Lara have a washer/dryer single machine in their new rig. They'll be testing it out in the next two weeks. Funny story: As you might imagine, while kids were here much of our HH talk was RV centered. One evening we all discussed what tools he should have along. I asked if he had a saw of any kind. He didn't think he'd ever need one. We recounted several times we had to climb on top of the fifth-wheel and cut limbs (one time being in Mary Q's driveway!). So yesterday they are trying to park in their very first campsite EVER and guess what! He had to climb up and deal with limbs in order to fit their rig under the trees! I think he borrowed a saw and today he is going saw shopping!
PS. Power pedestal is OK!
JANA - what a story in your little town - and so close to your own house! We could see on our news that one of the businesses was a Jimmy John's sandwich shop. Think of all those employees who are now out of a job at least temporarily! I hope they hang the guy that caused the accident! Good to hear Andrew is out of all the flooding. Our kids are safe, too, though they have a very wet yard right now. I think you should get the Kimberbell Valentine kit. Call it your birthday present!! You do love their patterns and kits.
VAL - I don't think I actually get as much stuff done every day as I might let you might think. lol! My back limits me, too. I love preparing for trips - cleaning the house, the trailer, making lists, packing, etc. But the last week before we actually leave, I start getting pre-homesick. I wanna go, but I wanna stay, too. I would make a terrible full-time RVer. I hope I do OK on our upcoming trip because it will be close to 5 months. I sure hope your shell arrives in time for your trip!
LOIS - I hope you are finding a way to keep your cool in your upstairs sewing room.
JUDI - we miss you! How is it going at the lake? Has the weather improved yet?
Yesterday I spent my morning running errands, mostly goof-off shopping. My afternoon - I finished making the letters of Amara's name for her ABC quilt. Oh - and 2 loads of laundry. Today we are going to Costco and Freddie's (Kroger). Our company texted asking if they could come a day early, so they will arrive tomorrow instead of Thursday and stay for 3 days. Our guest list for the BBQ on Friday has expanded to 13 and now includes a couple who will be on their way home from a camping trip so they will have their 30' fiver so we'll just park them in the front yard for one night. Four years ago we had four RV's in our yard at one time for 3 nights and were able to get power and water to them all. Good thing the kids left! We will be making good use of their parking spot!
I'm not sure I'll get any sewing time in the next few days. I have ideas for the ABC quilt but they may have to just percolate for a while. But I am making progress - just very slowly. And at the same time, I have Antonio's two high school football jerseys sitting on my work table. Autumn want's big cushions made out of them for a Christmas gift. It doesn't sound difficult, but I've never done this before so I'm going to have to feel my way. My third gotta-do-before-we-leave-in-September project is Drew's table runner. Whatever that turns out to be will be my own design and ideas are whirling around in my head about that, too. All these ideas are bumping up against each other! I don't know how VALERIE can handle so many WIPs at the same time! But first - a week of preparing for and hosting a lot of company!.
Praying for Texas.
