Happy Fourth of July, Everyone! What a blessing that we are able to live in the greatest country on earth! May God continue to bless us all!

Today our friends, Doyle & Susie are coming over about 4pm We'll sit on the deck, have a little wine, some pasta and watermelon, and ice cream for dessert. They'll go home about 6:30 and then the we'll have a campfire outside. They like campfires but due to back and joint problems they can't handle sitting in lawn chairs any more so we'll have the fire later in the evening with the kids. So that's our plan to celebrate.

LYN - I'm glad this newest problem you've encountered was resolved so easily. Have you gotten out to fish at all yet? Seems there's been one thing after another to prevent you! What will you do for July 4? I suppose it's not the big deal it is in the USA. 🍁 🦅

LORI - Missoula in winter is pretty cold. Snow comes and goes, and we've been there when the temp was zero but wind chill took it to 10-below. But that was a cold snap, not all season long. Your niece may have a lot of free time in winter. 🥶 I hope your boys do OK with the sounds of fireworks. They really bother Scottie. But New Year's Eve in Texas is worse for him than July 4th here.

CHRISS - Happy Elliott Day! It's been a long time since you've seen him. He must be closing in on 10 months by now. I hope you have a wonderful day with your family! Be safe on the roads. Sorry to hear you weren't too happy with your cardiac report. Let's get that figured out ASAP so you can get on with life.

VAL - even I agree it's probably a bit too soon to start actual packing for your trip but you are right - it's never too early to start lists! I love lists! I will say, when I pack - even the trailer - I try to make myself take out at least a third of what I've packed before we actually leave. I ALWAYS overpack! Probably because I start so early!

JANA - Scottie would not like to be in Utah on Fourth of July! He would be in our laps! But the show you can see right from your own deck must be spectacular! Any news on the new kitty(s) front?? Are we looking for a specific kind of kitty? Color? girl? boy? When I was at the dentist, I thought of you who also got dental work delayed because of high BP. How is your BP now? And I know your appt is coming up soon. How many implants will you be getting? I have 2. Chickie has 10. We both love ours! And the hard part was done under anesthesia!

MARY Q - Tell us again what day you are leaving. Judy is leaving tomorrow for a week. (I think). Will both of you be gone at the same time?? 😢😢 I'll miss you both!! Did you find any Christmas fabric you like? Did you make any pencil cases yesterday? I know when you get home you will love seeing a stack of those cases already finished!

LOIS - glad to hear a good report on your hubby. How did his appts go yesterday? And what are you doing today for the holiday? Has Sandy started her Snowman yet?

JUDI - are you ready for your trip - leaving tomorrow? But the big party at your sister's is today, right? Have a great time and enjoy all the fam!

Yesterday was a good day. I almost finished the big central block for Amara's baby clothes quilt. There must be a better name for it - "Amara's baby clothes quilt" is so cumbersome to say (and type!). Maybe "ABC quilt"? But anyway - it's not quite as wonderful as I was envisioning it, but it is what it is and it's nearly done. I think I'll have time to finish it today (the block, not the quilt). I was looking in the mirror yesterday morning to check out my cut tongue and was a little shocked to see my tongue was black on one side all the way from the tip to the back of my throat! It looked like I'd been snacking on charcoal! I never realized tongues can bruise. It's still sore but getting better. The tooth is fine but the tongue will have me eating soft food for a few more days. My chicken rice soup yesterday turned out delicious if I do say so myself. Our owls have been putting on quite the performances each evening as we sit on our deck. They are pretty talkative and very social! They are all young, half-grown, I think.

I'm going to be making pasta tonite for supper. I know July 4th should traditionally be BBQ, but we're having a big BBQ on July 11 when our Oregon friends are here. So we're keeping it simple today.

I hope everyone has a joyous day, celebrating the 250th birthday of this great land!

BTW, I posted a photo of my LOTR placemats. I'm happy with how they turned out. Now to design a table runner to go with that uses the amount and shapes of my LOTR scraps. Still scratching my head on that one.

Happy 4th of July!

Good morning!

Tonight will be the big celebration show. It's been quiet tame the last two nights. Cost is probably playing a big part. Still have two more days of legally setting fireworks off. Then a break until Pioneer Day. We've had some dumb teenagers that thought throwing lit fireworks from a moving cari8nto a dry field was a good idea. Started a grass fire, but the firemen quickly got it out.

Quiet here too. Daniel found a cute decoration for Christmas for Karlie. It's a standing bear, holding a Christmas tree. It's about 3 1/2 feet tall - huge! It's a surprise for Karlie's BD which is in November. They have always had a Christmas tree that was Karlie's to decorate in her bedroom every year. That's what this is for. It's almost as tall as Karlie! So it's being hid here. I need to get a couple of black trash bags to cover it. There's actually three sizes of this bear and tree. Baby bear, Mama bear, about 5 feet and Daddy bear, over 6 feet. This is baby bear. The daddy bear new runs about 1500 dollars. Daniel found this baby bear for 50 dollars on a local site here. Perfect brand new condition. As to the kitty hunt, I don't think color or gender matter. Just personality and face. Kari would like another Maine coon cat, but I think Karlie will be deciding.

So I'll be downstairs, in the Batt Cave. Working on OWL. Still getting it traced and fused. I'm being very judicious with my fusible, as what I use and like isn't being made or readily available anymore.

Do lots of fun stuff!

Hugs,
Jana

Sitting out on my deck, waiting to see the Hill Air Force, F-35 fighter squad flyover. They're heading south against the mountains across from me, the back, a few minutes later, over me.

Cloudy, thunderstorm warnings for the day and night here. AccuWeather is warning of flooding in Sunrise Beach, TX. It's been raining a lot the last few days down there.

Happy 4th to everyone!!

We don't do anything special here. Canada Day was the 1st and they shoot off fireworks on a barge near the bridge in town. Coach is insulated good, so barely heard them.

There's been no fishing so far, maybe tomorrow. I enjoy being here, fish or no fish.

I'm so glad our electric problem was the Resort's pedestal and not us, because we would have had to leave and possibly go all the way to Transwest in KC area. I wasn't having luck finding a mobile RV repair and the closest Newmar dealer was 3 weeks out on appts.

I'm going to sew today. I'm not sure what dinner will be, maybe we'll go to White Birch and have a birthday/4th dinner.

Hope y'all have a safe day celebrating.
Lyn

HI Girls

A little late today.... Peggy came for coffee this morning and I had to clean up a bit before she got here!

Maryz..... I leave for AK on Tuesday! I haven't even brought the suitcase in the house yet! Though I have thrown a punch of stuff in a basket that I don't want to have to wash again! Looks like it's going to be in the 60's most of the time I'm there so no need for shorts. Got a few more pencil cases made yesterday and will head to the sewing room in a little bit here. I did find Christmas fabric and all my snowmen are fused, and set aside for when I return. Drew's placemats turned out perfect and I'm sure he will love them. Are you going to do paper piecing for the table runner? Hope your tongue feels better soon!

Flo...What kind of pickles do you make? I have a recipe for some over-night dill pickles that are SO good. 24 hours in the fridge and they are ready to go! I just might have to make a small batch after I get some cucumbers. Hope your roof gets done soon--what a relief that will be.

Jana.... Oh darn, they quite making your favorite fusible? I usually have a bolt of Heat and Bond on hand, but running low. I checked Amazon and another bolt is $75.  So it will be a while before I buy a whole bolt again!! And I'll definitely have to be more carefully about using every square inch!!!

Lyn.... I'm guessing you really dodged a bullet---that the electrical problem wasn't in your RV!!! I would imagine running the AC on just your generator would really use it up pretty fast!

Lori... I found my pencil case pattern on Youtube---it's amazing the thing you can find on Youtube!! I wonder if it something about us getting older, that we just don't like the noise anymore. I love watching pretty fireworks.... I Just hate the noise!

Chriss.... I'm guessing you are with Elliott today!! Oh what fun!!!

Guess I better get in gear, will go sew a few more pencil cases today---need to keep busy! Later on this afternoon I'll be making burger patties and coleslaw to take over to Peggy & Gary's across the way from me---we've having a little 4th of July Picnic--inside because it's too darn HOT out!! 88* here now.

Wishing you all a very Happy 4th of July. The US may not be perfect but it's still the best place to live!

Maryq, I don't mind the small pretty fireworks. I just don't like the ones that sound like bombs exploding. Bill is a Vietnam veteran and he really doesn't like the explosions. It is quite amazing what you can find on the internet for free. Lots of fun patterns.

Lyn, so glad it was an outside problem. Enjoy your birthday dinner. Have you got to play with your machine much?

Jana, they used to fly over Jonathan's house all the time. I love watching the jets fly. I've seen them up close and personal too.

Flo, happy bear making. I saw a kit that the pattern was printed on fusible and you just add fabric, cut, and sew. It looked like fun.

Maryz, Wrigley hates noise. Jack isn't bothered as much. It gets pretty noisy here for hours on end.

Chriss, I know you're having a wonderful day with the little mister.

I'm going to wash a few window this morning, then work on some existing projects. Most of them need quilting, so that's probably what I'll be doing this afternoon. Tonight I'll work on binding when we close up and try to keep the noise and smoke out of the house. Dinner will be burgers on the grill.

Have a safe and happy independence day.
