Good morning,

I'm sorry I haven't been here I feel like I have been in a little bit of a quilters depression due to not being able to get fabric that I want I don't like to order on line because the colors are not the same so 2 trips to hobby lobby and I finally got it right well in my book it is I'm making butterfly patch I was trying to get the text fabric and found it ordered it because it was 12.99 for what I thought it was a yard that was only for a half a yard told the lady on Etsy that it was not in my budget so I cancelled it.
And now it's way to hot to go outside so I'm indoors

Well I will be indoors until this weather breaks
I hope you all have a fabulous day.
Stay cool and hydrated
Prayers go out to all
Lois.

Good Morning Lois it is good to see you back. Beginning to worry . The heat has been brutal here 90s 3 days in a row for us is bad, My AC froze up and Ken got it running again and tonight he will put more refrigerant in it, These units are old and need stuff every now and then especially in heat waves, Glad he knows this stuff...He actually can fix just about anything around here, I rarely in over 50 yrs have had a repair man in my house..
I need to go pick up groceries I ordered them ahead for pick up I jusy didnt feel like tromping through the big box stores.
I got some weeds done yesterday,,,still waiting on the weed eating squirrels Chris was going to send,,,Here th squirrels eat black walnuts and they are so fat they cannot even climb into the bird feeders,,,We also have hickey nuts here too, Messy trees for sure they drop nuts all over and when it is hot like this they shed leaves too,
Im still stitching on the cathederal window blocks...I had these all cut and ready to sew so "waste not want not" as my grandmother used to say, I will stitch them up and this will be a lap quilt for the couch downstairs...as it gets chilly down there,
Sorted out the fabric for the 'Made in America" quilt I will cut strips for that soon too. At least I have enough projects to keep busy,
Ken just informed me that he is taking 2 weeks off work starting the 4th of July weekend... That is like a miracle around here, We will spend the 4th with family at my sisters annual picnic and the following week we will go up to the lake with DD and family for 5 days. Its about time I say.....
Hope you all have a great day Stay cool or warm as th case may be,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning all
Sorry I have been so absent. I have been busy ,busy, busy. I have been trying to keep up yard work by myself. At lerdast I got two raised beds going with onions ,tomatoes ,cucumbers and peppers. The yard is a loosing battle. I mow and weed eat constantly. To supplement my veggies I have been going to a farmers market. Fresh veggies are wonderful. Saturday I even got some Black rasberries.
I have not been sewing much. I have projects I am supposed to be working on. Purchased some new fabric got rid of some old I no longer wanted. I did finish my bargello quilt top still not quilted. I have not gone to Havana to get backing.
I close today on farm property. Don't get me started on why its taken this long. Gish!!!
Barney is being Barney. Onery little sweetie.
Hopefully i can take the time to chat with you all.
Lois I know what you mean . Fabric on line is tricky. The price appears as one cost but it is usually for half a yard. I wont pay that much. I told one person who I finally talked to that i thought it is trickery. I have a terrible time getting batting. Finally found some at Hobby Lobby. I
stay inside after 12 o'clock. I am up at 5 and get out humming bird feeders then work in yard until I get to hot. Then do house work. I do have to take Barney out .
Well I hope you find your fabric and do stay cool.
I am going to walk Barney and get another cup of Java.
You all have a great sewing day
Katy and Barney

Good morning,

LOIS - there you are! Was starting to worry about you! Glad you are OK. I hope it wasn't Snowman causing you to feel sewingly depressed. It is hard to find fabric with all the shops closing - and now Joann's. Our Hobby Lobby closed last year. And I've been caught in that 1/2 yard trickery, too. Only I didn't catch it in time. Lesson learned. But I will say, the very few things I've ordered from QIAD, MSQC, & Keepsake Quilting have been very good quality. They just take so long to get here. As for batting, we buy it by the 40-yd bolt, and for several years have gone to pick it up at the Warm factory about 70 miles from our house. We bought it wholesale. But then found it either at Walmart or Amazon for cheaper, so ordered it that way. It's a wheelbarrow full of dollars at the time of purchase, but it lasts a long time.

KATY - another of our beloved MIA's! Glad to see you! I can't believe the sale has taken this long to close. I hope, if we end up selling our property to the developer who bought Vicki's, that it doesn't take that long. Yardwork is getting harder and harder for me to do. I am, hopefully, getting some help starting mid-July. Otherwise, more and more of our yard is going back to nature. I gave up on veggies 35 years ago. We just have too many trees and not enough sunshine. And I wasn't willing to sacrifice my trees. Our good friends (a decade younger than us!) love yardwork. A good thing because they have a lot of it! But it's their hobby and they decided to call it "gardening" rather than yardwork. Gives off a more desirable vibe than yard-WORK. And you know, it almost works! But my back doesn't believe it.

JUDI - You and I are so lucky to have guys who can fix things! And by the way, tell Ken our slide is fixed! Though we'll find out if it's a permanent fix next trip out. And so far, none is planned until Sept when we are going cross-country, then on to Texas for holidays. As for sewing, you are so ambitious! You have your projects all worked out for quite a while to come! You are getting my interest in my CW started up again. One of these days . . . (or years).

LORI - I saw your photos on FB. Every one is so purrfect in their costumes! So, did y'all make them? Buy them? Was the murder mystery plot worked out ahead of time and you given parts to play when you arrived? Just how did the whole thing work out? It sounds like so much fun! I love how varied your life is!

VAL - I'm glad to hear you have adjusted your itinerary a little bit. You want your trip to be fun and hopefully, relaxing. D.C. is so full of wonderful museums you will have to pick and choose. Not to mention Mt. Vernon, Geo Washington's home! And my DD told me just yesterday - after living near D.C. for 6 years - that the famous cherry trees are dying because they were planted in a tidal basin and salt water is starting to get in. D.C. is starting to sink! So they've been taking cuttings off the cherry trees for years now, propagating a next generation of trees. Eventually the old trees will be removed, the basin shored up, and the new trees will be planted. That was my something "new" I learned yesterday. I'm sorry to hear I'm on the "not visiting" list, but maybe next time. You can't do it all! I heard (from Irish) that the Columbus Zoo is quite a big deal. Her DGD got married there last year. And the Ark in KY is also supposed to be something to see - I hope we can fit it in on our trip.

CHRISS - what a good feeling it must be to have all your cupboards cleaned and "un-stocked". My problem is I LOVE dishes! I have service for 20 of my daily dishes. (I had service for 12 and the other 8 came from a thrift shop in Lincoln City, OR. I couldn't just leave them there!). I also love my multi-colored Fiestaware . And my American Flag dishes (same as Eleanor's! They are featured in her notecards and also one of her early books for seasonal quilting). And I love my china, all packed away, safe and sound. Let's not forget my Christmas dishes! I had FIVE different sets of Christmas, but I'm down to one now. Which I think is pretty good considering I'm never here at Christmas any more. So, my cupboards are full. And for now I guess they'll stay that way unless you come to help me with a dish intervention. Very nice that you took your friends for their infusions. You are paying forward all your dad is doing for you.

LYN - how are you feeling today? Did you take your BP when you were feeling woozy? Are you on BP meds? A dr appt might be in order when you get back to wherever your GP is because, if I recall, this isn't the first time this has happened. Sorry your weather hasn't been fishing-friendly. But if it were, you would probably go fishing and if you did that, you may end up having to eat fish. A no-win situation in my book! Oh, and yes, Lee is pretty handy, too. He just retired from the Naval Shipyard as a nuclear mechanic. While we're not very nuclear, he did make a good sidekick while they were scrambling around under the trailer! Even Judi's Ken chimed in over the phone! lol! And Bill is pretty sure all is fixed now.

JANA - snow on the road home for Sarah?? Actually, it's not surprising. We spent a week camped in Yellowstone back in summer of 2019. In that week we had VERY hot weather, 2" snowfall, earthquake, and wild fire with smoke so thick it was like driving in thick fog. To top off the Yellowstone experience, to get out of our campsite, Bill had to ride on top of our trailer with a saw while my DBIL drove our pick-up very slowly while Bill cut branches out of the way so we could fit under them. I love Yellowstone! Always an adventure! I hope your plan to play in your batt cave was successful yesterday! Scary about the shooting so close to your house.

MQ - It was actually my DBIL, not my DB on the ladder that fell. And it wasn't him falling, it was the ladder. He just happened to be on the ladder at the time and rode it down. Remember "Imitation Al"? That's the one! I expect next time he needs ladder work done, he'll be back up there! As soon as he gets back from his 2-week camping/ATV'g trip in the mountains. Like my DB, Gene, Al is not your average 88 yr old! Did you get your binding on the Alaska quilt? If Jen decides not to take it, it will make a nice souvenir for you of all your trips up there and of the lush quilt shops you visited.

Yesterday I ended up surprising myself with five loads of laundry. Ugh! Lots of it went on the clotheslines and about half went through the dryer. But it's all done for another week. I also made another baby clothes block, quilted about 1/4 of my "Over the River . . ." embroidered quilt, and made the top of the first of six LOTR placemats for Drew's birthday. I just sort of made up a pattern that matched the amounts of each fabric that I have. I think there will be enough to also make a table runner and maybe some mug rugs for his coffee tables. If I make mug rugs, I'll add in a layer of Insulbrite as well as a layer of regular batting. So today - I hope to finish the tops of the placemats and start working on the next baby clothes block. I dreamed about that project last night, so guess my subconscious is telling me to 'git 'er dun'! And I wanted to tell you - your comments about Rowentas reminded me of how much trouble they are! So the one I bought before our camping trip (and is still unopened) is going back today. I have chiropractor, mammogram, and then return the iron. I'll order a different one off Amazon, I guess. I got out my classic and very heavy Black and Decker, but it also spills water out of it's resevoir so I really need a new, reliable iron. I've already forgotten the name of my last one (Endurance? MQ knows.) and it was a good one. Until it wasn't.

Happy Monday to everyone! I'm off on my morning walk. I don't think Scott wants to go with me today but I'll ask him and see what he says.

Love you all!

Good morning!

We're starting the warm up back to normal temperatures. It got cold and I even thought about warming up the family room with the fireplace. Didn't do it.

The kids showed up for a visit, except Sarah. She was busy unpacking and putting away. They forgot that their house key was on the other vehicles key rings, so broke into the house through a window. Sarah thought Aaron had a key, he didn't, but I'm the one with the key. Sarah totally forgot that! Now she knows.

Then Aaron and Kate stopped over here. Shared news with us - drum roll please - we'll be getting a new grandchild, number 11 in March! More likely around my birthday in February. Kate has a history of early deliveries. During the entire pregnancy, she takes a shot to stop early labor. Shhh, no one knows but us, the kids aren't telling the rest of the family yet, so it's a secret. We'll, until Lila spills the beans. LOL! Quilt is now waiting until I know what color, pink or blue.

This morning I'm making the cello run with Ethan. It's early, then back and get my haircut this afternoon. Also need a Costco run for milk. So it's a busy day.

Enjoy the day, do fun stuff!
Hugs,
Jana

Good Muggy Morning!

A little rain and things have cooled down here. We'll only get up to 80* today, so maybe I will go run a couple errands. Need to get a few groceries, just enough to get me by until I leave for AK.

Lois.... There you are!!! So sorry you can't find what you are looking for! I've bought fabric on Etsy with good results, but yes you do have to be careful they way it's listed. I usually stick with brands I know---Moda, Riley Blake, because I know they will be "the good stuff" Let me know what you are looking for, who knows I may have it my garage.

Judi.... Isn't this heat just a kick in the butt! Yeah, Ken is taking a vacation! It's your old camper that the kids have up at the lake right? If I ever considered marrying again, the prerequisite would be he could fix stuff, and maybe cook once in a while!

Katy.... SO good to see you too! Spring and summer are busy times for your with your gardening. Glad to hear that closing is finally scheduled! That did take an awful long time--what a year or more? At least you will have some cash in your pocket by the end of it!

Maryz... It was AL??? I must have misread your post. I was picturing Gene on a ladder! Glad to hear he is ok and perhaps learned a lesson! The binding is on the quilt and I'm about 3/4 done with hand sewing it down. It's about 80x90 or so, so it's kind of a beast to handle--and heavy. If it weren't so expensive I'd check 2 suitcases and leave one behind for the kids to use on their way home. My favorite iron is the Hamilton Beach Durathon. Tho I have a T-Fal iron that I like as well. I've seen folks mention a CHI iron on Facebook with good reviews. If I can get 2 years out of an iron, I'm ok with that. A $60. iron lasting 2 years--cost $2.50/month! I can handle that   No word yet from your developers. Glad they were able to switch out your meds--now we are BP twins!

Lyn.... Hope the fishing is better up there this year. Brennen just came back from a canoe trip in the Boundary Waters and said they had plenty of fish to eat along the way. It was quite an interesting trip for him! Hopefully you will have a better yet. Kind of stinks that you can only bring back eight.

Valerie... Is there a difference between "enhanced" license and a "Real ID" one? I totally spaced out that I need a real ID to fly to Alaska, but my passport is still good from trips to Canada. I've started gathering up papers to get my license renewed this year, so I can do Real ID and change address all at the same time. I was wondering if you were going to make it down to MSQ---you'll need lots of cash for that stop too!

Chriss... Jen's Dad about 100 miles from me. Maybe 2 hours on the road give or take. Step Mom is looking for a place for them to live. A lot will depend too on where Eli's Dad and his wife decide to settle in--so that they can still have easy custody exchange. But they are all on great terms so it won't get contentious. Yeah for the new stove! Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do---what works best for you. My niece is adjusting to being a single Mom with a newborn and who of us knew what do first time out, but I told her to follow her instincts---same with decisions as make all through the rest of our lives. Go with your gut. To me, those gut feelings are the answers to our prayers.

Lori... Saw your pictures on FB! How fun was that!!! They sometimes have little bus tours to plays etc up here, but I just don't want to ride a bus with a bunch of old people ! Hope your appraisal comes out as you'd like.

Jana.... My lips are sealed!! Congratulations on the new grand baby!!!

Time to shower up and get in gear. Tom suggested I go up to Home Depot where I bought my dishwasher and see they can be any help getting LG to get me the right part. HD is next to Target, so I'll run for a few groceries, but along the way is a Goodwill store I might peek in. I'm looking for some capri pants that fit.

Wishing you all a Marvelous Monday

Cloudy, breezy and 58°.

Lois, Good to see you! Could we help you find the fabric you've been looking for, if you post a picture of it?

Jana, Congratulations on you know who, Shhh I won't tell. :D

MaryZ, I'm not on BP meds or any daily RX. I take a few supplements and I have an inhaler I use occasionally. I did take my BP and it was 130/77. I was better yesterday and so far OK today. I'm glad to hear the slide is fixed. If it was mine I'd run it in and out several times and even bounce it down the road a few miles and then open and close, just to make sure it works for the next trip. The tag axle leak that was fixed twice started leaking again on the last day into Canada. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it. I have to pull the hubcab and see how much oil is in it. It may change the future travel plans for later this summer.

Katy, Happy closing day!! I hope the closing takes a load of stress off. Good to see you here.

There's one nice thing about being here, no appts to get to, not many have to do this or that's. Phone calls do have to be made, like to the plumber in Estes Park. The boiler isn't working so there's no hot water. DD1 and gentleman friend went up to the house Friday for her 50th birthday and found the problem, though DGD was there Thursday and then told her Mom it wasn't a very warm shower on Thursday, but Kaylyn didn't call me. Stacey had a good birthday weekend anyway, they went on a trail ride lead by Kaylyn into Rocky Mtn National Park.

I'm not sure what I'm doing today, maybe get the numbers on the boat and if it clears I will take the cover off and prep to launch tomorrow.

Hope your day goes well.
Lyn

Good morning. It's going to be a very warm beautiful day.

I got a lot done yesterday. kitchen cupboards and drawers are clean, bathrooms are clean. I could run the vac and dust a bit and my house would sparkle. Then Moose would give himself a good shake and fur would be everywhere again.

My stove will be here tomorrow. I saw there is a rebate and I need to send in a picture of my old stove to qualify.

The squirrels are robbing my pear tree, the pears aren't even close to being ripe. They are also stealing from my plum tree, the plums are turning purple but are still hard. I hope the squirrels get tummy aches. My peach tree isn't producing this year, I think it's time for all three fruit trees to go. The squirrels, after eating the fruit, go for the leaves. My hot peppers should be here today and I will mix up a hot pepper and expired olive oil concoction for them.

Nothing else is on my todo list today. I might do some things in the garage until it gets too hot. I'm still working, very slowly, on refinishing that chair. I could also clean up the spare room. We'll see.

Valerie, it sounds like a long and fun trip you have planned. There is so much to see in this country.

Lori, hope you find an appraiser for the NorCal property and that things go smoothly with the title transfer. Your Gretal costume is so cute. Is there a costume shop near you or did you make it yourself? I saw the FB pictures; it looks like lots of fun. Guess, if you don't check in today, we will know if you were convicted of a crime, we can all pitch in for bail money.

Lois, what text fabric are you looking for? I'm curious to know what you are making. I'm so glad you checked in, I was starting to wonder where you were. Enjoy the indoor temps, a few more degrees and my house will be closed up and the a/c on.

Judi, sure wish I really could send you those squirrels, but you'd probably send them back. They eat the weeds along with just about anything green, and they start with the apricot leaves, move on to the peach leaves and when those are gone they have dessert in the pear tree. So glad Ken is taking a vacation, I hope they don't try to call him in. Sounds like you will have a fun 4th.

Katy, I also planted tomatoes, cukes and red onions. Nice that things are winding down with the farm, You've waited a long time to sell and the buyer has waited a long time to purchase.

Maryz, your mug rugs sound like pot holders. He's going to love them. I'm looking forward to seeing what you are making with the baby clothes. I think most all irons are good until they aren't. I have had two Rowenta's and will never spend that much on an iron again. The one I am using is the Durathon? that MQ suggested. so far it's good. I bought a no name iron on Amazon. the goal was the highest number of watts for the least amount of money, it didn't last either. You have a lot of dishes. I got rid of my heavier set of dishes and bought a Corelle service for 4. I have a few bigger bowls that match and that's it. I do have my ex mother in law's China for Richard, but have downsized so much that I have empty cupboards and drawers.

Jana, a huge congratulations on the new baby. How exciting. Glad everyone is home safely.

Maryq, I wear Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda capri's (and jeans too) They are stretch. I've bought them from Amazon and Costco on line. Costco sometimes has a deal where you buy 5 and get them cheaper. Glad the kids will move within travel distance to you. It will be nice to have them home where they belong. Glad your niece is adjusting, I was just talking with my son yesterday about the differences between raising a baby in my time to his time. so much has changed, go with your instincts is the best advice you could give a new mom.

Lyn, I just don't know how you do it. I have one house to take care of and it's on 5 acres. The weed eating alone is a lot, but you take care of two houses, a motor home, a boat and a husband, plus your kids. You are quite a woman.

So? Where is Tina. She seems to have found a perfect hiding place.

I finished up the fruit yesterday, strawberries and peaches are gone, More will be here soon. I love peaches. On my birthday each year my grandma would make me fried chicken, zucchini torte and peach cobbler for dessert. I can still smell and taste it, a smile making memory for sure.

Silly me, I have hamburger thawing and no stove to cook it on. It will either be in the toaster oven or the grill, If there is no wind later today the grill will be the winner.

I just got a phone call, one of the people that I took to get the infusion fell and is in the hospital. He has been getting weaker and had a hard time lifting his leg so he could get out of the car. We will go see him today or some time tomorrow.

I guess it's time to get myself moving. I wish each of you the best day ever.

Lois, that's a bit pricy for 1/2 yard of fabric.

Chriss, nice of Moose to keep you busy cleaning. Silly dog. I had 4 peaches on my tree and only go one. I thing the tree rats ate them. I don't know how you keep them off the trees. I'll sit out and shoot them with you if I was there. Whew...I got away with murder so no bail money needed. How exciting to have a new stove coming.
Lyn, I bet it's nice to have a break from everything. I bet you are ready for some relaxing boat time.

Jana, my parents both went to Richmond high way back in the day.

Valerie, I know you are close. We used to have family that live in Vallejo years ago.

Maryz, we were given basic information about our character. Then when we arrived we were given more information. And then a last packet of information that told me I was the killer. It was a fun game. Some of the ladies did a really good job getting into their characters. I wish I had a clothes line. Things always smell so nice after drying in the sun.

Katy, I bet you are doing the happy dance at last. That sure took a long time to sell that farm.

Judi, must be nice to have your own personal handy man. Bill can do sprinklers but he not very handy with other things. I either figure it out or call someone.

I got one appraisal done and the other will be Wednesday. Glad to have those done. The costume I wore was off Amazon. It would have cost me too much money to make it myself. It was a fun party. Our friend went home to Alabama today, so things will go back to normal. I have my line dancing tonight. Glad to get back to that again. Dinner is Tortellini with alfredo sauce and fresh steamed broccoli.

Sleep well. Chat with you all tomorrow.

Hi everyone 😊
I just wanted to let you all know that I'm stepping away for awhile. I've got some stuff going on and could use some prayers if possible. I also won't be doing the Christmas block swap either so if any of you would like to host it this year...
Sorry I can't go into details but I just need to take some time.
I'll be thinking of you all 🫂
Tina
