Good morning,

Happy Father's Day to all our dads, step dads, dad-figures, and heavenly dads. Where would we be without them!

JUDI - We are probably doing much like you and Ken this morning. L&L have invited us to go with them into Tacoma to see our grandson, Alec, at work - a bakery with seating and eating. After that our plans are grocery shopping, packing rest of camping food, and clean house. Bill wants to move the fiver to the front yard. Any leftover time, I'll spend in my sewing room or on the deck.

LORI - I've always loved Peanuts, too, but Mom was a Peanuts freak! She loved Snoopy! You used to be able to buy paperback books of Peanuts cartoons, and I have all of her books now. She must have had 15 or 20. We always think of Snoopy and Spike when we travel through, and sometimes, stay, in Needles, CA. Turns out Charles Shultz lived there for a time as a kid after his family left MN! I know you're going to love the museum in Santa Rosa. I was checking it out. I'm the one in our family who is electronically challenged. I've never even ordered anything off Amazon by myself! But I comfort myself knowing I'm light years ahead of my sister!

JANA - we remember Sandee's "Snoopy"! And the Doghouse! And so enjoyed their visit and wished they could have stayed longer. In our life, our trailer is called Bill's Cathouse! Foxy loves it! Close call on that sweatshirt! Are you going to do the second one on the same machine?

MQ - I already have a follow-up doctor appt June 23 after we get back from camping. She said if I'm still coughing she'll make a change. I do think my cough has lessened a little, but then I cough a lot anyway. Fabric dust! Putting an air purifier in the sewing room helped so much (on Antonio's advice - he put them in every room of their house!) that we put one in our bedroom, too. I remember when you acquired all that fabric from a man who had lost his quilting wife. I would say odd coincidence that you happened to have the same fabric as used in your pattern, but that has happened to me before, too. Bill bought Red Snappers years ago at the Houston Quiltfest. They make loading (and unloading!) quilts go much faster. No more pins! Ouch!

CHRISS - did you get all those photos sorted? It took me months to go through just 1 cardboard carton from my parents. Yes - our truck will finally be fixed and hopefully back to us by the 7-month anniversary of the accident!! Lee asked us to keep our truck (BART) backed into the shop where his new truck, Hercules, can't see the hurt of the crumpled back end. We're lucky it still drives! This insurance company is Auto Club County Mutual Insurance Company, out of Coppell, Texas, but marketed by AAA. I would never use either of those insurances. This repair should only cost them about $5,000 but they sure have drug their feet. But we have learned across the industry, the secret insurance motto is "Delay, Deny, Defend". And they don't want the public to know that. So spread the word!

LYN - happy travel day! I hope no more delays for you! Are you about 3 days from your Canadian 'home'? Brinkleys are a pretty new brand - maybe 3 years old? We are seeing more and more of them. Bill inspected it closely and he pronounced it very well made - even better than Grand Designs, which says a lot. They have lots of sizes and models to choose from, but this one with the back office space was purrfect for L&L. Wouldn't that make a great little travel sewing room??

I have two baby clothes blocks finished. I was wandering the house about 1am last night and got a couple more possible ideas. This project is turning into a fun challenge! I guess we don't really know what all we can do until someone challenges us to do it! This morning, after visiting Alec at his bakery in Tacoma, we need to grocery shop, finish packing, and clean the house. And bake an apple galette for Bill - his favorite dessert. If any extra time, it's back to the baby clothes for me. I've just about ruined the little Black and Decker iron Bill got me for Christmas by accidentally ironing the WRONG side of double-sided fusible with it. TWICE! So my Kohl's Cash is good starting tomorrow so before we leave I want to run get a new iron. Though, come to think of it, maybe I don't want to use a new iron to finish this project! In the words of Young Sheldon, "Think, Monkey, think!" I'll probably just ruin it, too!

Yesterday the kids took us to lunch and then come suppertime brought over a charcuterie board and we shared it on our deck and talked until nearly 10pm. We poured the wine and I think for the first time they, especially Lee, totally relaxed since he retired 6 weeks ago. It's all been pack pack pack, drive, drive, drive, get the truck, get the trailer, move their stuff. Now it's all done, they are here, and I could almost see him decompressing. And then our owls came to visit and put on a little owl show for us, talking to each other and flying around, chasing each other in the trees. A very nice day and evening! Tonite we're having our leftover pork, mashed potatoes, and salad for supper.

Have a great Funday!

Good morning ladiess, missed you all yesterday. Got up and went to Napa by 9 AM. Meeting with the church quilting ladies. Then, as DH, has to work today, we went to the fair yesterday to celebrate Father's Day. Didn't get home till beditme. A little too much sun I think. Slept for 7 hours straight. I never do that. The fair has become quite small. No vendors, some rides, a craft building with not too terribly much in it. Some local music talent, and that's about it. We did manage to stay the day and stayed for the Demolition Derby. Only two heats but they were good. One female driver. I did buy tickets to win the opportunity quilt but certainly won't hold my breath.

Today will be a variety day. I do have some chores, my roast is in the crock pot. I have some sewing I would like to get done. I have to bindings sewn on the front of the quilts and are now hanging in the closet I will take there so hand sew the backs while on our trip. I think I can get a lot done while DH driving. Right now I am watching trooping the colour as I couldn't watch yesterday. I have a lot of British ancestory and enjoy the pagentry of it all.

Not much else is new.

Lori I have been to the Charles Schults museum several times. Dad used to take us skating there when we were yougng. It used to be popular for groups such as scouts to day events. It is less than an hour from my house if there are no traffic delays.

Maryq I think I really need to plan these things into my life in a more realistic manner. I also plan more than I can get too. Keep forgetting I'm not 25 anymore. There are designs built into my machine and I vaguely remember what the guy said about accessing them. Thank God for YouTube videos.

Maryz yes Angels Camp is closer to Chriss. I think it's about 65 miles. Drive times in Ca can vary quite a bit depending on road condiitons, day of week, etc. It is not so far from me though that I couldn't do it in a day. One year though I would like to go to Sisters. Love your ideas for Amara's quilt.

Chriss how was the visit with your parents. Maybe you could keep a book for your DSM at your house for when she gets bored. Can she do puzzles still, maybe just a small one. Possibly a fidget quilt?

Well not much else to talk about. I will catch up on reading what I have missed and likely be back tomorrow. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning!

Happy Father's day to all the wonderful guys that are in and passed through our lives! I'm sure we'll be invaded after church by most of the kids.

Sarah is up in the Yellowstone area until next Sunday. As they drove up there, Ethan saw a sign for the Potato Museum in Blackfoot Idaho. He wanted to see it. Sarah said, why not. Don't know much about the Museum, but learned that it was in the old train station, with a very nice park next door and the train tracks are still in use, in fact a UP freight rolled through. Trains and food, Ethan was happy! 😀 These next days, they will be exploring bike trails throughout the area. Sarah has a E-bike which makes it easy for her to get around. The trails they're taking are pretty flat. The owner of the sod company she works for, has a vacation cabin up there and gave her where to go for the easy trails..

Church is a bit later this morning. Not much else around here. Need to feed and then get dressed. I have a favorite dress, that I washed and it has to be ironed. So did that last night and it took me 30 minutes to iron! It has swirls of bias cut fabrics, so it looks flowy and ruffly, a pain to iron. But looks great on me and I love it! Also my favorite colors, red and yellow.

I was thinking, yes you saw smoke - once it was suggested to get better wear out of shoes, buy two pairs and switch them for wearing. Maybe the same idea would work with our irons. Have two and trade them off, resting one for a week, then the other. Be sure to empty the water each time. Just a thought.....

Off I go,
Hugs,
Jana

HAPPY FATHER S DAY to all the dads

I hope everyone has a nice day. The weather today is for sun although we'll get rain on and off for the next few days. Joe and Fran will bring dinner here later today--they cook it there and bring it here. After dinner we'll play cards- (hope I win at least 1 game-even if I have to cheat-lol)

Sounds like everyone is having fun in their world "sew keep on it"

Good morning Morning All

Happy Father's day to All the Fathers in your lives!

Judi.... Think of it this way, in all the years that you and Ken have worked, these are the days that you were looking forward to! There isn't a day that go by that I'm not so very grateful that I've reached this point in my life where "nothing exciting" is a dream come true.

Maryz....How fun to jump in the car and head out with L & L!!! and to see your grandson! How exciting for the to be setting up their new home on wheels. Lee retired young so they will have a lot of years to travel and see the country! So weird how insurance can be so different from one part of the country to another. I've had AAA for years and never experienced a problem. When my house had hail damage the claim was approved in less than a week! Health insurance companies on other hand... well I could write a book on that!!!

Valerie... I think you should bring your new sewing machine with you, You can leave it with me while you continue your trip. I'll be your "baby sitter"  Do you know what format your machine uses? Mine are all PES files. I think some formats are interchangeable with different machines, but not all.

Jana... That's not a bad idea, to alternate irons. I do have 2 irons but one is next to my machine in the sewing room, the other is on my big ironing board in the kitchen. There's a little space in my kitchen where most people put a dinette set or something ---table and chairs, but my big work table is in there. My house is a work shop!

Lori,... When the Mall of America was built--the whole center of it was "Camp Snoopy" and it had like an amusement park inside--roller coasters etc. They have since changed the theme, but I don't think I've been down there in about 15 years! It's in my hometown on the site when Metropolitan stadium used to be. Home of the Minnesota Twins.

Chriss... How did picture sorting go? Funny I just did the same thing the other day. I think I have finally passed on all the picture OF the kids to them!! It's their problem what to do with them! I did make sort-of-scrapbooks for Jen and Kevin but never got around to one for Shawn. Maybe the next time he & Kris go out of town, I'll sneak over and grab the box of photos--I know right where it is!!

SO here we go again, my dishwasher is completely loaded with dirty dishes and so I thought I'd run it this morning. BAM!!! It's started freaking out again!!! Had to turn off the circuit breaker!! Guess I'll call the repair people again tomorrow. But looks like I won't get in the sewing room as soon as I thought as now I need to go hand wash all the dishes.

Time to crank up some music and get busy! Need more coffee!!

Wishing you all the very best !

Maryq, I think your dishwasher is possessed. My friends family had a house in the mountains and when we went up there the oven would only work every other day. It was very strange.

Diane, how nice to have dinner brought in to you.

Jana, I've never heard of a potato museum, but it sounds interesting.

Valerie, the fair sounds perfect. Glad you had fun. Was it roller skating or ice skating? I wonder if they still have it.

Maryz, I have a couple of Peanuts books too. I pull them out every once in a while and read the comics. When I use fusible I keep a piece of parchment paper near and use it on both side of the fabric to save the iron and my ironing board. I like it better than a silicone pressing sheet. How nice that you got to have lunch and dinner with the kids. I bet it will be nice for them to relax a bit.

I went over to a friends house this morning after our walk at the park. She needed help decorating for a party on Tuesday. There was 3 of us so we got it done in about 2 hours. I'll take picture to show you what we did. It came out really cute. Then we went to lunch. I came home and finished up one quilt binding and just need to sew one more down. I was going to machine sew it, but I sewed in on the front instead of the back. So I'll hand stitch that one down.

Hope everyone had a great day. Sleep well.
