Good morning!

Happy Flag Day! We have a flag waving at our front door.

JUDI - I'm so glad Colleen is feeling better. She's been through a lot - those infections are painful! Bill has a pair of cargo pants. They make him look shorter and wider that he is and I hate them. So I put them at the back of his closet. Out of sight - out of mind, and he never looks beyond what is right in front of him. I think he's forgotten all about them but I don't dare get rid of them. I made that mistake once before with an old long-sleeved tee shirt that he never wears. But it was still in the trash bag so I could retrieve it when suddenly, out of the blue, he asked if I'd seen it. Whew! That was a close one! I think he still has it though I've never seen him wear it since.

LORI - It sounds funny to hear you say "going north to Napa". But the Charles Shultz museum is one I'd love to see. Guess I didn't realize there even WAS a museum, let along within 800 miles of home. I've read that Charlie Brown is roughly based on Schultz's childhood and that there really was a little red-haired girl that he had a crush on. And that he hated the name "Peanuts" for his strip, that it was supposed to be a working name only but it stuck. What kind of LA does your friend have? We have a Nolting with a 17" throat. It was a demonstration model from a big quilt show in Seattle back in 2010. The LA frame is 11 feet long and has hydraulics and it can be lowered or raised to accommodate height differences. And when we use pantos we stand at the back of the frame and follow the design with a laser. As for hip fractures, sometimes they happen spontaneously. Our old friend, Lois, walked around for 6 weeks before her dr did XR's and found the fracture. Ditto knee fractures with both my brother and my sister.

CHRISS - Love the idea of a book of your sage advice for Elliott. Another one is Never Spit (or pee!) into the wind. Glad you found a more friendly dealership. Is Modesto further than Fresno? I could go look at a map, but then I'd have to disturb Foxy and I know you wouldn't want that. Did you find any treasures at the thrift shops you visited? Lara and I went to a few garage sales yesterday that were close to the house. They were all a bust. Of course, moving into a 300 sq foot home, she was very limited in what she could buy even if she'd found anything she wanted.

VAL - That quilt show in Oct looks like it would be nice to check out. Isn't Angels Camp fairly close to Chriss near Yosemite? I'm not sure of all of CA's little towns. Sorry your RV sounds like it's on it's last legs. What kind is it? Are you going to the quilt show near your house today? When your DH retires I hope you move to a safer place.

MARY Q - we don't have AC but we do have a furnace and we had to turn it back on! It's chilly! But Sunday we might be back in the low 70's. I remember you used to dream of an RV. We love ours, and spend about a third of our lives in it (thanks to Amara!) but I don't think they are any cheaper than traveling by car and staying in reasonable motels. We get about 11mpg of diesel if we're lucky. RV parks and even some campgrounds can cost more than motels. Factor in purchase price, insurance, repairs, and it adds up. But if you travel with a cat, an RV is the way to go.

JANA - You lost me! You argued about how to use your deck?? What BP med are you on? My doc put me on Lisinopril but it's making me cough a lot. Did your oral surgeon call you back with dates yet?

LOIS - our national weather map looks like you might not be sitting out on your deck this weekend! What's Plan B?

LYN - are you there? Are you sewing? Did your supplements arrive? And do you still plan to be on the move tomorrow?

Yesterday I started looking over the small pile of Amara's clothes and parts and pieces of clothes Autumn sent me to "make something". Ideas are coming to me. I have one block done, though I need to stitch it down. Part of a sleeper made from Llama fabric. So I cut a llama shape out of the llama fabric and fused it to a background. There is just a sleeve from another sleeper so I'm going to make a little hand coming out of that sleeve, clutching a teddy bear, which will be made from part of another sleeper. Blocks will be different sizes, and some will have a 3-D effect. Ideas are slowly coming to me one block at a time. L&L want to go out to lunch today probably at the iconic Tides Tavern. It's been there for 100 years, was the town's grocery store in my grandparents' time. Built right on the water with a large deck for outside seating and a gorgeous view of Mt. Rainier. And lots of seagulls! And every year the same Canada goose couple nests in one of the planters and raise their babies. A fun place to go. We have a lot of summer tourists and it's where they all go. Bill and I also need to do a little grocery shopping for our camping trip this coming week.

So I went to my orthopedic appt yesterday. I waited five weeks for this appt! And when I got there they said they wouldn't take me because I have an open injury claim from the accident in Texas last Dec!! This dr does not deal with MVA patients. I don't even know if this is a result of that accident or ??? That's what I was hoping to find out from him. So they made me an appt with another dr - 6 more weeks of waiting. Grrrr.... I asked why, when I filled out the pre-registration on line 10 days ago where they ask all about if there is an MVA involved, they didn't call me at that time and tell me this. Just blank looks and promises that they would "look into that". Oh, and we FINALLY have an appointment to get our truck repaired! We take it in June 30. They will probably have it for 2 weeks. We can probably do OK with just one vehicle, but this insurance company has ticked me off so badly that I'm tempted to make them pay for a rental anyway! But probably won't.

Supper tonite depends on lunch today. Sometimes we're still too full. Or we have leftovers from lunch. But if we're cooking, we'll have leftover porkchops cooked in the crock pot in Cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and salad. If we don't cook tonite, then now you know what we'll have tomorrow night!

Have a happy Caturday! >^+^<

Sunny in Grain Valley.

MaryZ, I like the 5th L & L picked. There were people parked next to us that had that brand, but a different model. They left just before I read your post or I would have asked them about it and if they like it.

The free supplement bottle showed up yesterday. So we can leave tomorrow. It's cheaper to pay for a week than 6 days and gives me an extra day to get organized.

As for the Super Box TV box, I returned the first one because I couldn't get it to work and it was missing some things that were supposed to be with it. Luckily there's an Amazon distribution center about a mile away and I ordered another one, from a different vendor and it was here by 9 a.m. yesterday. It had instructions in the box, which the first one didn't. I did have to watch a YouTube video to download the android app where you get what they call Blue TV. There are 1,865 channels. You can make a favorite list, which I'm working on. I'm canceling my YouTube TV and had not renewed Paramount or Peacock. You buy the box, there's no monthly fees. It runs off the wifi, which we were doing with streaming.

Time to get dressed and get the estimated tax check to the post office. Then start packing to leave tomorrow.

Hope y'all have a great weekend and Happy Father's day to all the Dad's.
Lyn

Good morning!

Bright sunny and HOT! Getting even hotter in the next weeks! Oh well, I do live in the high desert!

My BP med is Telmisartin80. I was on the 40 strength, but my doctor doubled that. He was pleased with the first trial, but knew he was watching to make a adjustment. I go back in 3 months for another check. I have a BP cuff and automatic machine here at the house and take my BP once a day.

Well, I got those names done, almost. My machine was giving me a headache of the first water! I was on the last name, down to the last 2 letters, and boom, my machine decided to eat the fabric, grabbing it and pulling everything out of registry! So i called and she'll get another sweatshirt, I'll pay for, and redo the name. And this particular name wasn't needed until August! Whew, dodged that one!

Today I'll straighten up the kitchen and then the Batt Cave. I have the music for tomorrow and I know the hymns well. It's a new adventure as Sarah has a new calling, to serve, in the Stake. She's the music chair, which sort of makes her my boss. Sarah will work with all the choristers and organists in our stake. She wants to teach them how to make the hymns ,we sing , more meaningful, by how we present the hymns to the congregation. There are several hymns I love to lead, and as I put it, rattle the walls of Jericho! My organist is fabulous and loves to do that too! Sarah is professionally trained as a conductor, so she knows what to do. I guess I'll be her guinea pig in a class. 😀

Off to get my day going,
Hugs,
Jana

HiMary and Lyn, wow I was up at 6 sat and did a bit of embroidery to get myself motivated...I just wasnt feelin it this morning,,Ken left to meet the kids at the alzhiemer fund raiser golf outing, Then a friend called to complain about her adult kids...we all have a few complaints every now and then. But they are adults..right?
While i was talking to her I made bread dough. then watched a bit of news to see if the protestors were going to destroy the country,,,Dont think so. then Baked the bread it is a different recipe using milk and beef tallow..It was good last time so I thought I do it again.... Now here I am going to stitch a bit more. This quilt is a UFO/Wip I figure if I can get the embroidery part done i can fire up the new machine to stitch the blocks and get another quilt on the que. Then i think my next project will be to tackle the hexis I have in a big box ( yes there are a lot of them,,) I seem to like making them but assembly is imy short coming,,,I started to just randomly sew them together,,,so we shall see how that goes...might end up a table topper...at least.
Hope you all have a great dayXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning. What a beautiful day today will be. We aren't supposed to get to 90*, nope, it's supposed to stop at 89*

I have a load already drying on the clothes line and the undies and socks are in the dryer. Soon I will head out to my quilt group meeting. The plan for the rest of the day is to sort pictures. I have so many duplicates and don't need them. Most are ancestors and cardboard photo's. I will make a pile for my dad to identify and send people their pictures. The plan is to go from three totes to one. Wish me luck.

Lori, they also have a Peanuts, or maybe it's a Charles Schultz, park in Monterey. I didn't know there was a Schultz museum. I'm going to check it out.

Judi, so very glad Colleen got her tooth taken care of, what a blessing. I also have randomly sewn together hexi's. I need to put the rows together and see how many more I need to make a quilt. It's a someday thing

Maryz, sorry for all the insurance trouble. Which company is making this such a hassle, I want to be sure to never go through them. Now I see why there are so many lawyers on tv asking if you've ever been in an accident. Glad the truck will be fixed. Modesto and Fresno are about the same distance from me, but in different directions. Yes, that quilt show Valerie was looking at is nearish to me. It's by Sonora, Columbia State Park and Jamestown. I like that area.

Lyn, this must be your day, everything is lining up so you can travel. have an uneventful trip.

Jana, ugh, it is frustrating when the sewing machine doesn't cooperate. Remind Sarah that she's not too old to be sent to her room is she misbehaves.

The parents are supposed to be here today, perhaps I can get my stepmom to help sort pictures. She always says she's bored, I ask what she would be doing if she were home. She always says cleaning or reading. I tell her she should bring her book or we could do housework, she always says no. We go for a ride, come home and 10 minutes later she asks me if I want to go for a ride. ugh.

Allrighty, time to move my butt. I need to put a little food in my belly before my meeting and take Moose for a morning walk down the driveway. Dinner will be heaven knows what. You all have a fun day
Chriss

Good morning Girls

Not much in the way of sunshine here this morning, but at least it's not raining!

I got all my chores done yesterday and my house is now about 80% clean enough for company--so if you don't mind a sewing machine set up on the dining room table, come on over for a cup of coffee.

Maryz.... That cough/tickle from Lisinopril is quite common--I had it too. A quick phone call or message to your Dr and he/she can fix you up with something different. Hope you have a great time camping--with sunny weather. Fun to meet up with friends!

Lyn.... Ready to pull out tomorrow? From Grain Valley do you get to I-35 and then head north? Lots of construction going on in Minnesota. I'm assuming you might have an App that shows you where all that is. If not, there is a MN511 app, that will give you road conditions and traffic cameras.

Valerie... When you are ready to find some designs to stitch with your embroidery unit--let me know!!!  I've bought quite a few on Etsy and from Designs by Juju. But there's a few that Lyn told me about too that have some cute ones!

Chriss... I use that side winder bobbin thingee too! For some strange reason the bobbin winders on the machines, never seems to work right. It will be interesting to see the difference between Costco and Sam's. Only reason I go the Sam's card was when the kids moved in with me--to buy a few things in bulk---frozen pizzas, laundry detergent etc. Now I only go there to get the giant canisters of coffee--and buy about 6 or 7 at a time to get me through most of the winter months!! I can easily drop $300. there but that takes quite a chunk out of my monthly budget. Do you have a recipe for "heaven knows what" for dinner? I think I have one but mine usually involves peanut butter!

Lori... Viv uses the red snappers too! I tried helping her snap them on once--I'm just not strong enough!! Tom helps her load her quilts most of the time. I agree, panto's are tedious and you can't blink while you are watching the laser light! I did a couple free motion and while I certainly wasn't good at it--it was much easier!! Did you know Charles Shultz was originally from St. Paul, MN?

Jana... Telmisartan? Man, that's a new one on me!! I had to look it up. But then I've been out of the pharmacy business for a while now and lots of new things have come up. New stuff like this is why Pharmacists and Technicians have to do CE classes all the time! Glad it seems to be working. I take LOsartan and it's in the same class--called an ARB. I'm for what ever works!! Glad it's working for you and you can now go forward with your dental work.

Judi... So glad to hear that Colleen is doing better. Smoothies are a great idea, but just not through a straw!! I'm chuckling about complaining about our adults kids--as Katie and I were having a discussion about our adult children just the other day. I know my kids would do anything for me---but to get them to actually SHOW UP and do it!! That's a whole other issue!

I'm showered and 1/2 dressed-- jammies and jeans--- until I do hair and face. Need to run to pharmacy to pick up my BP meds, then I'll head home and get back to the sewing room. Since floors are cleaned, dust bunnies have been chased away and carpet vacuumed, I can sew guilt-free! With luck I'll finish a top I'm working on. I saw a cute pattern in a book I borrowed from Viv and as it happens, the fabric shown in the book --- I have a tote box full of it. I think this is probably the 3rd or 4th quilt I've made out of fabric I bought in 2020 during Covid, from a guy whose wife passed away from breast cancer.

Wishing you all the very best today ....

with prayers for all -- Here and around the world!

When Sarah and Sandee did their road trip a couple of years ago, they stayed at Maryz and then down to the Peanuts Museum in Santa Rosa. Sandee is a huge fan and nuts over Peanuts! In fact her truck is white, with big black mirrors, black front grill, and named Snoopy. Snoopy pulls her fifth wheel, referred too as the doghouse. Sandee collects all things Peanuts. When Covid struck, I made her masks from Peanuts fabric for when she was teaching. They really enjoyed the museum.

Maryz, I am a big Snoopy fan so it's been on my list for a while. My friends machine is a Millie 30. It was super easy to figure out. We did have to add the red snappers though. I didn't know that about fractures. I guess as we age our bones are what they used to be. Your quilt for Amara sounds fun. Bummer about the ortho appointment.

Lyn, I would love to change over the TV to something like that, but Bill wouldn't be able to figure it our. He's electronically challenged.

Jana, at least it messed up at the end rather than the beginning. Glad your meds are working out for you.

Judi, glad Colleen is feeling better. Sounds like that was a really bad infection.

Chriss, I wish I had a clothes line. I love the smell of towels and sheet off the line outside. Sometimes I set up my little drying stand and do a few small things. How did the picture sorting go with your stepmom?

Maryq, I did not know that about Schultz. He lived in Santa Rosa which is why the museum is there.

Valerie, Hi. You must be off sewing something somewhere today.

I got the binding on the two quilts. Now to sew them down. We had leftovers for dinner.

Have a lovely evening.
