Good morning all. It is sunny and going to be 79 today 80s tomorrow and wednesday, we will probably get thunderstorms but rain would be nice here,
House work to do today, I was supposed to take my DDIL to therapy but she has her sister taking her,,,they like to get together. I dont mind. I have a quilt that needs quilting I am about half done with it...Slow as I decided to do some extra stuff on it a lot of stops and starts, but I hope to put a couple of hours on it today.
The sewing machine is complicated but I am at the "Yeah I can sew a straight line with a quarter inch seam allowance, " stage. I learned all the feet and maintanance and bobbins and threading,,,it will be a fun machine to use I am sure,,,I still might go to the class and get to know the rest of the stuff on it,,,there is a lot of adjustments you can make and stitches to enjoy...I will need to find the blanket stitch for applique I like to do by machine,,,and stitch adjustments for paper piecing,
Well I am off to get coffee and get my chores done...Hope you all have a great day,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,
Had a wonderful day yesterday with Olivia and Sandi she got everything she wanted from bjs we came back home and refrigerated some of her stuff and some in the fridge then we went back out to the fabric warehouse I picked up some for the snowman and some because I liked it.
Sandi got most of hers for the snowman she's work on a dasiey quilt first.
Mary Z thanks for asking about her shoulder it's ok for the most part Dr wanted to do another surgery but she doesn't want to she has had way too many.
Judi I would welcome those lessons.
I must add I got a nice haircut.
Well that's all the news have a great day.

Good morning!
Another beautiful day here. I love thunderstorms! First they're noisy, flashy and bring rain, but also drop our hot temps by 20 degrees in a blink of a eye!
The kids had a great time in Disneyland. Just barely started getting the stories. When I saw them yesterday, they were all quite tired. Up at 3 am to leave and catch their flight home. Got here to Utah at 8:30 am.
The other night, Ethan and parents headed over to the dark skies of Tooele to do some star gazing. They have several large telescopes and those can be hooked up to view on a computer screen. Ethan enjoys this.
Then my little girls popped over last night for a visit. Lots of giggles! Gracie's baseball team is in second place with 2 games left. If they win both, they will play in a tournament, if not season is finished. Gracie is hoping to win. She loves playing!
Well not much new here. A few upstairs uglies and then I'll be in the Batt Cave. My sewing area is a huge mess, stuff piled here, there and everywhere. Driving me bananas! So you'll find me down there today.
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Monday June 2nd, 2025
Good morning, everyone,
JUDI - you will love your machine once you get the hang of it. Those bobbins are so nice! I need to do some housework, too. I thought about it yesterday, and that's the first step, isn't it? - thinking about it. Hope you can get your quilt finished today - or soon anyway.
JANA - great story about Officers Frick & Frack! Made me smile! I pray Andrew loves his mission assignment. I have every confidence he will do well. How is Stu doing? Time for an update on him. Last we heard he was getting ready to move into a new place with a friend. I was wondering yesterday if your kids got home OK. I thought I remembered they were returning on Sunday. Smart to beat the summer crowds! Though I doubt there's ever a time at D-land when it's not crowded. Good luck to Gracie's ball team! Do you go to the games?
MQ - did you try your dishwasher? Did it work? I think you should run your dishwasher during the day - when you are home and awake. Dishwashers cause a lot of fires - 500 a year in the U.S. We never run any appliance unless we are home. And never while we're sleeping either. Congratulations on another new baby! I have a baby quilt pattern that looks like big jelly beans appliqued all over the quilt. So cute! But I need a new baby so I can make it. Not sure that's happening any time soon.
CHRISS - you are way ahead of me in the house cleaning department! Though I will say, with warmer weather we live mostly on the deck so the house stays a bit tidier. But vacuuming and dusting still needs to be done. And we're getting to the crucial stage here. However, I did get laundry done yesterday. Surprised myself with that as it wasn't in the plan! And I pulled about 18 weeds, too. I was really chugging along! I really like the idea of a quilt meeting where you bring your "what was I thinkings" to share. But you risk of bringing home someone else's!
LOIS - did you get all your errands done yesterday? Did you find any goodies at Fabric Warehouse? What are you using for the background in Snowman? When I was in Kenai, AK last August I found pale blue snowflake pattern batik that was purrfect for mine. I don't blame Sandi for not wanting another surgery. She's been pretty much out of commission for a long time with the last surgery!
LYN - are you at your MO location now? Will you be there for the week before heading to Canada? I hope the fires don't affect you Canadian adventures.
LORI - What's happening in your world today? Any sewing-related activities happen at your house over the weekend?
VAL - What's the word from your neck of the woods. Those blocks went into the mail a few days ago in a manilla envelope. Mail being what it is these days, not sure how long that is going to take.
Yesterday I finished purging and organizing all my fabrics. MY SIL, Terry, wants to go through it all, including the wools. I cut a 10" square from the ones I liked and packed up everything. Even though she's moved to Alaska, her house is still here, 2 miles away, so we will just move it over to her house. She is coming for visit in the fall and will go through it then. Now I have a little breathing space on my shelves! I also got my Star Silhouette trimmed and will put the binding on it this morning. Autumn asked me if I would make something from some of Amara's outgrown clothes - a secret for Antonio. But we discussed this months ago, now a big box of clothes, torn bits, and other things has arrived and I can't remember what I'm supposed to do with it all! So for now it's sitting on our dining room table until she answers my e-mails. But when she does, that's my next project - whatever it is.
Then I think I'll spend at least part of the afternoon cleaning the house.
Have a great day!

Re: Monday June 2nd, 2025
Good morning everyone. I started a 4 day run at the LQS yesterday. Yesterday was Open Sew, today is my Kansas Troubles club, Tuesday another Open Sew and Wed is the Go Cube group. I did hear that unforunately, the shop in Dixon will close. They are starting a sale today. Everything 35% off but if you buy the rest of the bolt it is 40% off. I am not sure I will take advantage of it. I really don't need anymore fabric. Need to make what I have.
Maryz good news about Becca. Nice of her daughter to keep us up to date. I didn't get to try the quilting part of the machine. It sews nice though, it actually does so much I may never learn it all. The machine quilts more like a long arm. I don't have to guide it. The project goes in the hoop and then you set it to quilt. The difficulty comes in that having to move it around to quilt the whole project. But I will get there. I don't believe in rushing. I have not gotten any word from USPS as to the blocks being on their way. I will check their site today.
Jana I have a car wash not too far, maybe a couple of miles when I go. I don't go as often as I should though. Have been thinking it's time to go again. Yes, always good to think things through all the way!
Maryq thank the lord our temps are coming down. 54* now and should only get to about 72. Winds kicking back up around 2. They have been a problem. Driving out on the interstate is a bit tough. My machines book is online, I did download it and the one for my M7. I should read it one day. Oh a baby, how fun. I see another baby quilt in the works.
Judi yea, the machine is there. How is it working out? Hope you get to sew real soon. But winding the bobbin is an important thing to know.
Chriss when will you hear about the Echo. For those who don't know its a sonogram of your heart. Doesn't hurt a bit. Our cool down will actually be a cool down. In the low 70's all week with Thursday I think high 60's. I deep cleaned my coffee maker about 10 days ago. I should do it more often.
Not much else to say here. I want to cut the first blocks of my KT quilt for today. I am starting the Ryan's Sampler. It's not too big, 60.5 x 60.5 but a nice looking quilt. I did get 3 more stars done on my Blueberries and Cream. 10 done, half way there. I will make some more tomorrow probably. For now, off to water and get to cutting.
Have a wonderful day!

Stu update -
He's all moved in with his roommate and friend Michael. Those two get along great. Michael is now included in all we do. Michael is trying to set up a meeting of Stu and his younger sister, match making! She's going to school in Idaho, so it's not a long drive. Stu also replaced his car, the one that caught fire and was totalled by the insurance company. Stu bought a pretty, orangey red, 4 door , Tacoma pickup. He was wanting a truck before his car was made toast, so now he has one. His job is going well too. Just a short commute.

Good Morning Girls
Per Alexa... we are looking at 92* today!!! For now it's delightful with a beautiful breeze wafting through the house.
Judi.... Do you use Panto's with your LA or just meander? Viv uses panto's but if she stands on the opposite side of the machine she can "free wheel" it. I've even done a little bit of that myself. Hope you have lots of fun with your new machine and can sneak in a little time--between housework and other things-- to play with it.
Lois.... Doesn't a nice fresh haircut just make you feel oh such much better. Do you have any natural curl or are you stick straight like me! I can curl it with a hot iron and 5 minutes later, my hair is straight and flat!
Jana... Ah, who couldn't have fun at Disney Land!!!
Digging through old pictures last night I found a picture of me from 1973 standing in front of the Big Castle!! Gotta love those little girl giggles! I don't hear much of that anymore, but I have a new neighbor with small grand children and it was great to hear their happy voices the other day! Congrats to Stu on his new truck!! I've heard Tacoma's are hard to come by--a popular vehicle. I tried the new car wash yesterday only because they were giving away free ones!! The place I usually go is owned by a guy I have known for about 40 years--an old drugstore customer--so I will continue to patronize his car wash and oil change place.
Maryz.... Yes the d/w ran but for some reason, it stopped mid cycle! As soon as I fill it up again, I run it again--during the day. Oh I never run an appliance when I'm not home!! And if I'm going to be gone a long time, to AK for instance, I'll unplug a few things, like my sewing machines, around the house! Will Terry keep her house here? Maybe if she does, she and Gene will come down and stay for a while there? Any date for the wedding yet? I have seen videos of people making quilts out of baby clothes--when they just sort of applique them to a big square.... Good luck with that project!
Valerie.... I love that you have many projects going on at the same time. I've decided that my favorite part is #1 Cutting out the fabric and #2 sewing the blocks.... after that I get bored!!! Are you still going to do UGRR? Are you going to use El's book?
Lori... Oh yes, it was a whole day project getting pictures from old diskettes to a flash drive. Now I have a box full of old prints to get rid of. At one time I had a box of slides that were my dad's.... luckily I found an app for my phone that scanned those. My dad loved slide film back in the day. Happy Birthday to Jack---is he the black lab? My favorite dog of all!!!
Chriss.... Did they give you one of those monitors last week? How is the heart beating? Thanks for reminder about vinegar in the coffee maker... I should do that as well---after I finish my coffee for the day.
If there is a plan for the day, I sure don't know what it is !!! I could go in several different directions. But first a quick pass through the kitchen to clean up --the on to the living room couch where all my picture sorting as taken place to clean up that mess! It's a good thing I don't have company often, as there is no place for anyone to sit!
May what ever you do today, bring you joy!

Chriss, did you move the table or dust it?
Maryz, I've seen some really fun quilts with baby clothes. There are so many creative ways you could put them into a quilt. Glad you got all the fabric sorted and purged and it has a place to go.
Maryq, you must be getting the heat we just had over the last 3 days. It's supposed to be nice today. I bet it feels good to go though things and get them organized. We have slides and I know my dad does too. There's a projector in the garage rafters of his house. Some day I'll get to that.
Valerie, you are sewing up a storm. I like the Blueberry and cream quilt.
Jana, I think your kid were at D-land on the hottest days of the year so far. Today it's cooled down quite a bit. I sure wish we had thunder storms here.
Lois, sounds like you had the perfect day with the girls.
Judi, you'll get the hang of the machine. It took me a while because it was so different from my Janome. I have to get out the manual to look things up. The blanket stitch is in the quilting folder of stitches.
We walked early even though it's not supposed to be as hot today. The sun is out and there is still a nice breeze. Only supposed to be 77* today. The Jasmine smells lovely this morning. I need to head up the street and turn on the sprinklers. Maybe sort though some things while I'm up there. I found a small painting in the garage that's 2x2 inches that my mom painted in 1970. It's very cute and will go up somewhere. Dinner will be tortellini with alfredo sauce and broccoli.
Have a lovely day.

Re: Monday June 2nd, 2025
Good late afternoon. It's been a busy day today
I went and got the echocardiogram on my heart. I really wish it would flutter when they look at it, but just like a car making a noise. Take it to the mechanic and nothing is heard. But I looked at the doctors report and nothing stands out. My doctor isn't concerned but wants me to get these doctors lined up in the event I need them. Next appointment is the thyroid doctor on the 26th.
After my doctor stuff was done I went to Three grocery type stores one was Costco. I got in and out pretty quickly but boy was it ever packed. I picked up the over the stove microwave that came in and got gas. $640.00, poof, gone in one day.
The parents will be here tomorrow to start installing my microwave and in anticipation I bought a box of microwave pop corn.
Maryq, I washed my car today. I didn't vacuum it, just a run through the car wash. There are a lot of car washes in town, I pay $10 and it gets washed whenever my windshield is full of bugs. Ugh, I need to bring out that tote of old pictures. I have no clue who most of them are, and really, haven't even looked at them in forever. I gave my dad a smaller box of old pictures and asked if he couldn't name the people to toss the pictures. He tossed most of them. I ran the vinegar through my coffee maker a few times, it's nice and clean now.
Lori, I've been looking at small grills recently. I also vacuumed the other day, and I just don't look at that table anymore. Hope Jack had a great birthday, Give him a belated belly rub from me. Tell Bill he was right, these heart monitors don't stick very long. I bought some waterproof tape and taped it down. I never do a mystery. Just too worried I won't like how it turns out. I wait till it's over, and if I like the end results I make it.
Judi, You are going to have fun with that machine, it will keep you in stitches, ha ha.
Lois, I think, equally to spending time with my son, a girls day with Marilyn is jsut the best thing ever. I'm so lad your girls day was fun and that you got some fabric just because you liked it
Jana, glad that the DL trip was a success. I couldn't tell you the last time I was there, but I do reember that my feet do so much walking I had blisters.
Maryz, what a cool thing to make a baby clothes quilt. When I get done here I will dust, tomorrow the job will be laundry. I hang it all out on the line. As hot as it is the first thing I hang will likely be dry by the time I hang the last thing. Socks and undies still go in the dryer
Valerie, yeah, my son calls me every so often to say it's in the 70's. He lives in Salinas It's still 90 here, but at least I didn't have to hear about 100. Hope you are enjoying that perfect weather. I read the results of my echo online. Nothing stood out as overly scary. I'll probably live. Sorry your quilt shop is closing. I bet, if you looked real hard, you'd find something you can't live without.
I didn't make my bacon cheeseburger yesterday, the hamburger was still frozen. I did make a big tuna salad and sent half home with my dad. So tonight it will be a burger. I wish I could make a burger as good as they are in a restaurant. Maybe I will broil them this time?
You girls have a great night
