Thursday 5/8/25
Good morning, hope all is well.
Lori I am looking for actually 2 charm packs, Kansas Troubles Bittersweet Lane. It is from 2020 so getting a little hard to find. I had ordered 5 packs, 2 for me and 3 for my friend. I know they came in, I took them to the shop and thought I gave her hers and me mine but now I have no idea. They were, or so I thought, with the rest of the fabric and the pattern for the table topper I was going to make. But alas, no, they are not there or anywhere else. I did by some stroke of luck found 2 online so I did order them.
Lyn how did things come out at the doctors office? I was hoping to go by MSQC on my trip but not sure. I really need to look at our time schedule. With DH still working, he can only get so much time off at one time.
Judi I do go long periods of time without seeing my children as they live so far away. My son comes most Aprils for the fishing trip but this year we will go see him in SD. I think when you have certain situations you just get used to it. I am hoping my charm packs show up but .........
Lois don't you just love road construction. They do it during the night here a lot so used to run into it when I worked night shift.
Chriss we are heating up here too although I think they said Sunday it would start cooling off and some possible rain around Tuesday. Glad to hear you have that weed eating under control. Love the stories of your step mom, it must be hard for her though to not remember things. My mom and grandma had Alzheimer's so I do somewhat worry when I can't remember something.
Tina wait, college graduation? Already, she can't be that old. Where is she going from here? You know, Texas could probably use some grass, don't you think? LOL My DH also had a cousin pass away actually last month but service aren't till this weekend. His family has a tendency to wait long periods of time, odd to me.
Maryq how nice of you to sit with Zara, I am sure she had a wonderful time. No that is not my son standing at attention. My son is long out of the military now, probably more than 10 years. He was accompanying an elder vet. He never did send me a picture of him and his vet. My son was the one who took the picture. I have spent some time on the machine. I am trying to get a small table topper done so I can figure out the quilting part. I will work on that today at open sew. I have also an M7, MC 6600, 1600P, Gem Gold, and 2 Baby locks. I never use the Baby locks anymore and have never used the 1600. The others though get use.
Jana I do understand the rules placed on the MIssionaries but I think there is enough supervision that they don't get into too much mischief. Sometimes parent do hover too much. My DBIL used to do things with the missionaries in Las Vegas. My sister used to like it when they came to visit her when she was sick. Yes, messing up those insulin shots could be disaster.
Maryz yes, tomorrow DBIL arrives and he stays till Tuesday. I will get through it. I guess I should clean up those bed sheets.
Well, off I go to fix some breakfast, get more coffee and figure out what all I will take to sewing today.
Have a great day.

Looks to be a nice day in KC area.
Valerie, We aren't seeing the Dr until June 2nd. Garry is getting some IV treatments is all. As for your charms, did you accidentally give them all to the friend? Which machine do you take to class?
We need to be at Dr office early today, they only work til 1 p.m. I need to be back to the MH by 1, because Safelite is coming this afternoon to fix the chip in MH windshield.
Have a good day.
Lyn

Re: Thursday 5/8/25
Good Morning I am doing another room of windows..it was raining this morning but has now quit,,,just cool and cloudy,,,perfect for window washing, there are only 2 windows in Ken office but a little tidying up is due in there too,,,I dont usually touch his desk,,,He doesnt get mad for me cleaning in there ( G Knows he doesnt do it himself.) I dust and empty the trash can, mop the floor, then I will go back to assembly of the garden quilt...this quilt has a lot of sashing to make everything fit together.
When my DD moved to Minnesota for a year we made so many trips,,,a 12 hour drive,,,when she was getting ready to move back to Michigan I flew there to help her with packing and 3 kids,,,it was fun but we never were away from them for very long, If my kids moved I would have to adapt also...but it would be hard,,,
Well If I get that room done i can sew...SO hope you all have a great day, I dont have a clue whats for supper if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: Thursday 5/8/25
Good morning,
Thank you all for the kind comments on my NYB. I loved doing it (but I'll ever do it again!), and I'm happy to be sewing something much simpler again - and without all the little bits of paper flying all around my sewing room! This quilt is MINE. It's too big to display on a wall unless I fold it over - and I might do that. But I'll probably put it on our bed, at least for a while. Bill has reached the halfway point quilting it.
LORI - Our own insurance said they would pay for our truck repairs and then they will go after AAA. But if we do that then it's counted as a claim against us and it could possibly raise our rates. So for that reason, we are being patient. But my patience is wearing thin. If something doesn't happen soon, we'll file a complaint with the Texas Insurance Commission. How big is your GMFG? Is it a mini?
LYN - I think I"d still have to go to MSQC. It's like Disneyland for quilters. Though it probably would take a few days to truly go through it all. We were there about 2018 and they've more than doubled since then. And I hear there is an RV park nearby . . . But I know you have a graduation to get to.
This just in! Bill just this minute received an e-mail from AAA authorizing our truck repair and is sending a check directly to the repair shop! Whoo Hoo!!
JUDI - clean bathrooms, clean windows, homemade bread. It would be a good thing to be at your house! Nearing assembly on your quilt is the frosting on your cake of life!
LOIS - I was at chiro yesterday, too. I can go right or left out my driveway and it's 1.2 miles to their office. There was construction with flaggers and one lane traffic on both routes! Arghhh!! So is the quilt you sandwiched the baby owl quilt?
JANA - A great feeling to have Andrew's mission wardrobe all set to go. An even better feeling that you don't have to do the alterations!
A good point about Bill's hip injury possibly being caused in the accident. But he thinks no - he felt something "give" when he was cleaning the shower one day. And the doc even mentioned that my hip injury could possibly be from the accident, but I was pushing furniture around last Thursday to give me room on my "design floor" to take quilt photos and that night, my low back, hip, and leg were on fire. And still are. So I think we did it to ourselves. Funny we did it kind of together, though. I hope you got that med straightened out. One summer I was trying to get some Rx's filled at Rite Aid and they made THREE mistakes. And they were rude to me about it! That was the last time we used that pharmacy!
CHRISS - so glad your weed eating is nearly done. It feels so good to have a big chore like that in your rear view mirror. Did your DSM have a good time yesterday? This is probably why your dad keeps finding stuff to do at your house, you know.
TINA - so sorry for the loss of Frankie's cousin. Losing folks we care about gets more and more common as we get older. Jaz has three graduations??
MARY Q - I saw Cosmic Crisp apples on sale for 99 cents yesterday. I thought of you! Whatever happened to the old fashioned apple varieties like Granvenstein and Northern Spy and Transparent? Those are what my dad had in his orchard. Thanks for the info about the Texas Insurance Commission. But hopefully things are working out soon. But I'm tucking that nugget away until we are all done with AAA. In Texas AAA is sort of a broker for smaller insurance companies and we are dealing with one of those. Though when we both leave messages to two different adjusters - Bill about truck, me about chiropractor - they always answer the phone as AAA. I'm glad you take Zara for the day sometimes. They do say that people who have dogs usually live longer and are healthier.
VAL - Your picture is awesome! I'm thinking you will only need about 20" or 5/8 yd of fabric for your 3" finished border, but I wouldn't cut it that fine. I always like a little extra in case I make a mistake in figuring or in cutting, or to bind around a label. Don't make your BIL too comfortable!
Yesterday I made 3 more llamas for a total of 6 done. I have 9 more to do. But today will probably be laundry. The basket of dirties is starting to snarl at me when I walk into the bathroom. The law enforcement memorial ceremony last evening was, as always, so poignant. And I met a few couples who lost sons in line of duty and their losses were so fresh - 1 yr and 3 yrs. One mom just couldn't stop crying. I gave her a hug and we talked a bit, but stoic dad was standing next to her and I gave him a heartfelt hug, too. He held me tight and whispered, "Thanks. I needed that hug". And I think I needed to give that hug as much as he needed to receive it. We all received blue carnations and a commemorative challenge coins from the police dept who hosted the event this year. Afterward Bill and I went out for a Mexican supper and didn't get home until 8:30.
Tonite's supper might be lasagna. Or spaghetti. Or pesto pasta.
Have a super day filled with super full bobbins!

Lyn I forgot, I also have a 3160QDC which is what I take to class. Yes, I did ask my friend but she didn't respond.
I also forgot to mention I did finish another KT quilt yesterday. I will go post the picture now.

Good morning!
I think it is - we are stuck here in our castle. Funny, most days I have no problem staying home, but now we are a forced stuck, I can think, maybe we could go do this or that or everything else under the sun, that involves driving! Heading out the front door to water my new flowers, Sarah hasn't yet got the main irrigation shut off valve, un-shut offf! Won't today either, until late this afternoon.
I did get my laundry done yesterday, folded, now just need to iron shirts and put it all away. My floors need a quick wash. They are so easy to do now, since they are hardwood! Spray bottle of cleaner and the big dust mop. Yoohoodi keeps them dusted for me.
Time to change the quilts and skinnies to my summer ones. I de-bunnified the house the other day. Next big decorating change is July.
Well, I'm off time to fed the zoo, time to water, and time to go stir crazy!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Thursday 5/8/25
Good morning everyone
I have to get laundry started soon but wanted to pop in here first.
Valerie, I know huh...time has just flown by, I can't believe she's already graduating either. She's going to Las Cruces and will be majoring in agronomy. I hope you find your charm packs.
Lyn, I hope all goes good for Garry.
Judi, I told my kids if they move far away to have a room for me, I had them for me

Maryz, yay for them finally coming through with fixing your truck! Yep, Jazmyne has 3 graduations, she's in early college high school which is a totally different building than our high school but she takes high school classes and college classes so they have a graduation there for them and Western NMU includes them in their graduation because they earned their associates degree through them and their professors and then they walk and participate in the regular high school graduation for their high school diploma...they get to experience it from all of the different aspects. I guess they make it a big deal because it kinda is, most are 17 and have accomplished a lot.
Jana, I'm like you.... happy to stay home until the option is taken away LOL. I bet your flowers are so pretty!
Jazmyne did her presentation yesterday, I haven't watched it, it was on zoom and Holly forgot to tell me. Holly couldn't even talk about it without crying, I imagine she had the professor in tears too. She did it on her cousin that was murdered and how she can't mess up because that chance was taken away from him. Holly said she's going to try to send me the link, she's pretty sure it was recorded, it was a final exam thing for Jazmyne.
Well I better get busy.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need
Tina

Good morning,
Today I'm downstairs sewing on my sunflower quilt I heard from my sister Rosie she doesn't need the quilt yet it's for one of her Drs she is having a boy and my sister really likes her I'm thinking i will start quilting on it next week.
So today I will just enjoy this room instead.
Sandi will be here on Saturday we are going to BJ's and some other places also out to breakfast as early mother's day I love the idea of spending a little time with just her.
Well that's all the news from here.
I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois.

Re: Thursday 5/8/25
Good Morning
They are doing work around my house this morning, so I thought I better get showered and dressed before I opened the blinds and windows here!! Usually I walk around in jammies and it's no big deal. Unfortunately all the heavy equipment is parked right out side my bedroom window so even if I wanted to sleep in--it would have been totally impossible!
Valerie..... I was going to suggest looking for your charm packs on Etsy, but I see you found them. I was even going to check my supply of layer cakes as I think I have one or two KT. What an awesome thing you son does, escorting vets to Washington, DC. DC is an neat place to visit--took 2 of my kids there many years to see all the sights. We missed the Smithsonian, but did get to Lincoln Memorial and the Viet Nam Wall.
Lyn.... Won't it be nice to see clearly out of the MH window!!
Judi.... I remember when Colleen was here in MN!! And how happy you were when she moved back to MI.... and close to you! You can imagine how thrilled I am that my Jen will be moving back to MN in 2026!!! She didn't seem thrilled about me coming to help and driving back through Canada with her!
Maryz... YEAH!!! Finally you are getting your repair taken care!!! I've never heard for those kinds of apples. Probably a Washington thing. My dad used to get Prairie Spys. Boy if I could get Cosmics at 99c a pound I'd be in heaven. We don't get much good fruit around here. I did buy some strawberries the other day that's weren't too bad, but a lot of them in the stores here aren't even really ripe enough and are tough. I get goosebumps just hearing about your ceremony last night.
Jana... Isn't that truth... you don't want to go anywhere until you CAN'T!! I never want to bake cookies until the electricity is out!!
Tina... Jaz did post-secondary too? That's what they call it here anyway. How cool that she comes out with an Associate Degree. Evie has been doing the same program, but I don't think she will have the degree, but just a good head start on college in the fall. She'll be going to the same college as Bren in South Dakota in August--very convenient. Maryz and I were chatting about Christmas block swap the other day. I know it's early but are you up for it?
Lori... It was kind of fun to have Zara around it was motivation for me to actually get outside and walk myself. I'd have a dog here if it could be black lab (we're restricted on size in the townhouse association) and I didn't have to scoop poop!
Chriss... Did you step mom have fun at the senior fair?
Lois.... In Minnesota, there are two seasons.. Winter and Road Construction! Round-abouts are a big thing here now so they are putting them everywhere!!! What project are you quilting today? I ordered that cuter Owl Pattern, but it's taking the long way around the country to get here.
Guess I better get in gear here. The laundry hamper is overflowing and the kitchen definitely needs some attention this morning. After that I'll head to sewing room. I was playing around with a jelly roll and the Double wide dresden ruler a couple weeks ago--think I'll finish the borders on that today and since it's only 46x46" I'll dig around in the garage for some backing and quilt it myself--eventually!!
Wishing you all the very best today!

Re: Thursday 5/8/25
Good morning. It's going to be a overly warm day today, we may see 90*. I won't finish my weed eating until next week since it will be cooler then.
We had fun at the senior fair yesterday. We each won a raffle prize. My friend won a year long membership to a local gym, I won $75 gift certificate to our local grocery store and my stepmom won a $100 visa gift card. She was so excited. And we each came home with a bag full of junk. Now I have post it notes, ink pens jar openers and bag clip things all complete with advertisements. It really was fun.
Valerie, Are you sure DBIL has a return ticket so that he definately goes home. You have a lot of sewing machines. I had more but am down to two and won't increase that number. I thought I wanted a smaller one to take along but realized the weight of the machine I was looking at was the same weight as the one I was using. I think about Alzheimer's too. I picked up information at yesterday's senior fair about it and think I'm ok for now but am very aware of the signs.
Judi, if you come do my windows I will gladly come do your weed eating, and your pierogi eating.
Lori, Marilyn is doing well. Both she and her boyfriend have jobs and are working a lot. She's trying to save money. How are things going for you with your dad's stuff? And with you in general?, I hope you are doing well.
Maryz, glad you were there for that mom and dad, giving and receiving hugs is very helpful.
Jana, hope you are unstuck soon.
Tina, Hope you get to see Jazmyne's presentation. I bet it's a really good one, I'm pretty proud of that girl.
Lois, enjoy your Sandi day, sounds like a fun girls day.
Maryq, Ugh, I just don't care for round abouts. And it seems here they are putting them in the highway. So you go from 65 to 25 and try to get bck up to 65. quite frustrating.
Tomorrow morning I have my ct scan to see if there is anything between my ears. I have to make sure I am well hydrated. I'm a little, not a lot, concerned. Probably just anxious about having the test done.
Dinner tonight will be tortilla-less enchiladas. Basically the fixin's in a casserole dish. Hope you all have a marvy day,
Chriss
