SUNDAY, May 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun May 04, 2025 6:11 am

Good morning,

JANA - are all those flowers going into your yard or Sarah's? Wherever, it's going to be a beautiful show!

LORI - are you going to Temecula today or was that yesterday? I bet working with that alpaca yarn is luxurious! Both of us are also "lay it down wherever" people. We have a buffet right where we come in through the garage and it's always a mess - purses, keys, hats, mail, whatever gets piled there along with things going out to the car, trailer, or garage. What a mess.

LOIS - you've been doing too much cleaning! You haven't had any time to any mess things up.

MARY Q = I hope you get over your cold quickly so you can go meet your little great niece! Love her name. And our friend, Doyle, loves Jameson like your dad. But he buys Kirkland Irish whiskey and fills his Jameson bottle to offer his whiskey drinking friend. If his friend notices he hasn't said anything. Your dad would probably choke this deception.

JUDI - have you heard how your son is doing in Vegas?

LYN - are you all packed up and ready to roll this morning?

I have NYB all prepped for quilting and while I was in a prepping mood I got last winter's Star Silhouette ready too . I had to piece the back of that one. It's on Bill now. He has 3 quilts in his queue. The third one is my hexi GFG. I pulled five different llama fabrics and cut a few pieces before calling it a day. I'm making the throw version which has 15 different llamas in 5 different colors. But I am kind of down and out right now with a severe case of what I believe is sciatica. This is the third day of it. I'm going to muscle my way into the chiro's office tomorrow morning. So much of my day will be spent on the couch, whining. It's much worse at night. I've used heat, ice, IBU, muscle relaxers, Biofreeze, and PM's to help me sleep. Not much helps. So if I do anything today, it will be to cut more llama's out. Supper will be leftover pizza.

make it a Sewing Sunday!

Good morning and May the 4th be with you! Lina is 5 today. So hard to believe. Kindergarden come a few months.

Didn't get here yesterday. Did get the rest of my MC cut. Wanted to make sure I would have sufficient fabric as the shop owner is leaving the management position and not sure I would be able to get replacement once she leaves. At least not for no charge. Not sure what will happen in the long run as she is part owner. Also got my sewing room mostly in order. My machine tables are all cleared off. Floor is clean. I can just sit and sew at eithre machine right now. Dad's old room is at least organized. DH cut me lots of 2 1/2 inch strips out of left over fabric so will make some jelly roll quilts. They will definately be scrappy. I have enough set aside for 3 quilts at this points. I will just make simple utility quilts so we can take camping or something.

We also went to Napa and walked around a bit. Had lunch and then came home. Vegged the rest of the day. Tomorrow is Mad Monday and then 3 days of open sew. I have been working on getting together what I will work on.

Our temps are going to be up for a couple days. We will be into the 80's tomorrow but doesn't look like it will stay hot.

Judi I have something covering all my windows and it would be impossible for me to do them except the sliding glass door. Wonder what someone would charge to do them. So glad your son gets to go but wishing he didn't have to take meds while there. I went to Vegas once, the day after having a tooth pulled. The first 3 days were really not pleasant.

Jana good to hear the SS got all straightened out and you were able to collect. I am assuming they have you on BP meds, thinking if it's still high something additional may be needed. Are you eating low salt? 2,000 mg a day is sufficient.

Lyn "ouch" is usually what most peaple say with RV repair bills, they are just so pricey. Not sure why, but they are. Nice that you could have your breakfast while you wait. What is Church PB?

Maryz I may just start taking a nap when I can. I will look more into the class but so far haven't found it on their website. I think I am well enough hydrated. I have had insomnia a good part of my adult life and yes, I am sure after 6 years of night shift calls and day shift life, my body is all screwed up. It is what it is.

Chriss I am surprised to hear you have MVP. I agree you are an MVP though! Does this run in your family? You are a bit young. Luckily, it tends to be more serious in men over 50 and I don't think you fit either of those categories. I have it also but it's mild and the doctor said as long as my BP is controlled, I should be fine.

Maryq, no men do not know how to dust! at least mine doesn't. It's like he see's nothing. I in fact told him the other day there is plenty to do he just doesn't see it. Congratulations on the baby girl! So happy to hear all is well.

Lori I remember my sister talking about Alpaca wool. She loved it. She in fact had quite a bit left when she passed away. My DBIL did find someone to take all her wool so glad it didn't go to waste.

Well need some more coffee and some breakfast. Will catch up with you all later. Have a great day.

Good morning I was a slug this morning and stayed in bed til 730. After doing a lot of cleaning yeterday I sort of passed out in bed,,I got all 6 windows done in my room and cleaned out the tv cabinet,,,getting rid of an old gaming system and a boat load of excessories that go with it, a VCR player and a bunch of woodworking vcr tapes Ken doesnt need,,,I will take this to the salvation army store next week.along with Kens too big clothing he will part with. a pair of work boots that are no ones size we know..( somehow they got left here and no one knows who) I sorted out wires and extension cords from the tv cabinet and it is clean and presentable... My windows are triple panes with storms and screens,,2 storm windows top and bottom, and all the upstairs window tilt in for cleaning but that means each window has 8 sides to do and the sil which collects dust and rain and bugs sometimes, I also had to clean the blinds that cover them Ken asked me how long it took to do one window and the answer is about a half hour or more...I did have to move a few things,,,I checked into having a company come out to do them and it was aLOT of money so I just muddle through it twice each uyear,,,In the spring to put in the screens and in the fall to put in the storm windows,,,I actually love the look of clean windows as I have good views of all my windows...so now you know why it takes mr so long to do a room...and I spring clean while I am at it,,,,My sewing room is next on my list and the 2 windows in Kens office,,,that will be an other day,,,In my sewing room I need to move the LA to get to the windows and that is no easy feat either, I will try to get this quilt done first. its coming along,,I turned the page to read "Finishing the top" so I am moving right along,,,not fast but moving,,,
Today I am making greek salad with hummus and pita bread for supper. I need to get the dough ready for that and make the hummus,
Maryz sorry you are hurting, My friend just had back surgery and the first few days she wasnt happy but yesterday almost a week she is pretty much pain free, hope yours can be fixed soon too...
Val you sound like you get a lot of sewing done,,i am envious...
Everyone have a great day,,,,has anyone heard from Kathy in mass. I wonder ho she is doing.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Last i heard my son was doing good in vegas,,,went to see Circe show yesterday,,,and enjoying the festivities

May the forth be with you!

Good morning!

Oh we are Star Wars groupies here. In fact, training the next generation too. Aaron took the little girls to see Revenge of the Sith on the big screen the other day. They loved it! At Disneyland, most of the grands have built light sabers or BB-1 robots. The big ones too!

Church is in awhile. 3 hymns, only one has a odd time signature, but doable.

The weather looks beautiful at the moment, but a storm is due in with rain. That's good for my new flowers. All that we bought yesterday are for my house. My big new brick planters that we put 8n last fall, 8n the front yard. Sarah got all the plants in the ground last night and hooked up the drip system to each plant. Went to check the water controller, no water. That will be a easy fix, we need to turn on the main supply valve at the street. Forgot to do that. Sarah has the special t--handle tool and will do that this afternoon, after church. This main street valve controls the entire irrigation system for my yard. We still have several planting areas to fill in with perennials and annuals.

Played in the Batt Cave a bit too,, before being squireled to buy flowers. I traced another OWL month,, ready to fuse..

No bp meds yet. That appointment is the 12th. I do have a BP cuff and monitor. Know very well how to use it. I was doing Mr G's BP, everyday, three times a day for the past three years. My numbers have dropped more than 50 points for the top number and the bottom number is in the normal range. Top is still too high, but getting down.

After church, I'll be in the Batt Cave. We have a routine of BYU shows, devotionals and such that we watch on Sunday afternoons. Mr G sleeps through them, most of the time, so there's a tv and his chair down there to watch the shows. I can sew and see them too.

Andrew is home and Sarah teases him with a count down time in texts she does with him. We'll know, tomorrow night, 7 pm, my time, where he's going.

Time to get ready, curlers in hair, might not quite appropriate for conducting,
Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning All

So wonderful to wake up to a sunny day!! Per Alexa, I might have to dig out my shorts today as we could see 79*!! But this is Minnesota, so I could be back in sweat pants tomorrow.

Maryz... Oh gosh, sorry to hear that your back is out of whack!!! A day on the couch with heat and ice doesn't sound like a totally bad way to spend a day! Maybe a little hand work? Some embroidery or a good book?

Valerie.... Oh my DEX could SEE the dust, but only to point it out to me! Are you just going to do the "jelly roll race" type quilts? I have several jelly rolls that KC gave me that I'm itching to do something with--the race quilts would be pretty easy!!

Judi.... Gosh I wish I was closer, I'd come help with those windows--with the paper towel on a belt around my waist!  My mom used to use newspaper to wipe the windows, but I gotta have my Bounty paper towels (actually Target brand are pretty darn good!) When I was in my house it was about $100. to have just the outsides done which I didn't think was too bad, but I only had 12 windows... I think you have me beat. Glad to hear your son is doing ok in Vegas..

Jana... Glad to hear your BP is coming down a bit. It's good that bottom number is done. Mine was up quite a big last time I was at Dr and I'm on BP meds!! So I check it now and them with my little wrist machine--not totally accurate, but gives me a good idea. It's been spot on with that little machine. OH NO the plants are out at Home Depot!!! I'm afraid my HD card would take quite a hit if I went there this week! I do need some flowers for my patio!!!

Lori.... Yup, my son too does just about everything around the house, he's usually the one that cleans up the kitchen, does his own laundry, takes out the garbage etc. Did you find your yarn? Is Alpaca yarn really soft?

Chriss... Any good deals at the garage sale? I'm thinking when I go to Wisconsin in a couple weeks I should only take a little bit of money so I won't be tempted to buy stuff I don't really need!

Up and Showered here and am going to force myself to run to Target. Don't need a lot of groceries but there are no veggies in the house, no fruit, and no bread. Once home I'll probably hit the sewing room and see what kind of damage I can do in there!!

Have a most wonderful Sunday!!

Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today. We never got that rain that the weatherman hinted at yesterday, instead it was a not too hot not too cool day, I have a feeling today will be a repeat of that.

There are three birds that visit my yard each morning when I check in here. The mockingbird that I can only hear and never see. A bluejay who apparently is in charge of my yard. And a black bird, the size of a small Robin, with a verry bright yellow beak and he walks around like Charlie Chaplin eating whatever he finds. I love these birds.

Today I have no plans, maybe I will get to some of that housework I have threatened to do, and I could do some outside work and I could also sew.

Yesterday I spent $5 at the sales. Nothing really was catching my eye. I found one of those camping chairs that folds up and is in a draw string bag and it's toddler size and has a harness system to strap the kid in. We did go to lunch which was very underwhelming. But I did have a fun time

Maryz, funny about the whiskey. My grandma drank Jim Beam, her son, my uncle, bought a less expensive brand and poured it into the Jim Beam bottle, she never said a word. When my sciatica acted up I found some exercises on You Tube, for me they worked. Hope your chiro fixes you.

Maryq, some day, I'm not sure when, but I am going to come there and go to those sales with you. I think that would be so much fun. Glad the baby decided to venture out. so exciting.

Lori, I read Lyn's church peanut butter and thought it was a food program and the church was giving out peanut butter. I hadn't heard of that brand either. My dad will be here on Monday, he had some of his own projects needing to be done and my stepmom is requiring more attention.

Valerie, I've had a MVP for many years. I've had a few echo's and so far nothing needs to be done. My blood pressure is fine and I only notice the fluttering once in a while. Personally, it's been a tough 12+ months and I think stress is catching up to me. Nice of DH to help you by cutting strips.

Judi, you are to windows that I am to weed eating. It's just too expensive to have someone else do it.

Well I have two choices after I get dressed. I can leave the windows shut and weed eat so no dust blows into the house or I can open all the windows and dust what blew in from the other day when I weed eated. Think I will have some breakfast and consider my options. Dinner will be leftovers, eat 'em or toss 'em.

You all have a fantastic day,
Chriss

Maryz, bummer your having pain. I can usually get rid of mine with ice. On 20 min off 40 min. I also take a NSAID. I repeat this for about 5-6 hours and my sciatica will quiet down. I also do stretches. Our trip to Temecula isn't until next month. We have a friend coming out from Alabama and have a week of things planned.

Valerie, do you have the GO 2 1/2 inch strip cutter or did DH do it manually? Alpaca and wool yarns are very pricey. Glad your BIL didn't throw it away. Napa has a nice little town.

Judi, I too need to wash window. The rain we had made them very dirty. Maybe this week when it warms up a bit. It's still a bit rainy today.

Jana, glad you got all the flowers planted. I bet your yard is beautiful.

Maryq, my trip to the Alpaca farm is next month. And yes, it is very soft.

Chriss, bummer you didn't find anything you couldn't live without yesterday. I'm sure it was still a fun day.
Your weather sounds perfect. We should be warming up a bit by end of week. Yesterday was only 61 as will be today. With yucky drizzle.

Well I'm waiting for the weather to clear up before walking the boys. I let Wrigley out a bit ago and he just lays in the misty rain getting wet. He's such a silly dog. Yesterday I did absolutely nothing. Watch some shows on TV and also the Cub game. Maybe I'll actually do something today, but I don't know what.
I think fried rice with chicken will be dinner.

Have a lovely day.
Lori 8-)
