Saturday May3rd

Post by grammiequilts » Sat May 03, 2025 4:40 am

Good Morning, it is dreary and cool this morning 60 for the high, I was thinking about starting the windows today,,we have had the windows opened all week and they are winter dirty, I have 6 windows in my bedroom and thought I would start with those since they are so easy to get to. no furniture in front of them. the sils and blinds are in serious need too...so that is my plan. Ken is still sleeping and he might have other ideas. He is my helper if he doesnt have other plans, He is still working on the plumbing and the eiectrical for the bar, He will do the painting of the cabinets down there too...
my youngest son seen the Dr yesterday and he gave him some meds to get him through the trip to vegas so they are leaving this morning, He was feeling much better yesterday,
I am still working on the 12th month,,,I get side tracked so easy in my sewing room. My add kicks in and I end up doing to many things,,,but maybe today after the windows I will get back at it,
Well I hope your weekend turns out to be what you wanted it to be,,,Safe travels to all who are traveling and congrats to all who actually finished something,,,,,you know who you are <3

Good morning!

No way that I could stay asleep any long. The sun popped over the mountains, shining brightly in my window, right in my face! It will be a beautiful day here. A little sun, a raindrop or two, just right temps, wonderful!

Yesterday was quite a surprise in the mailbox. Great news and some more work needed news. Social security letters were in the mail. We received notice that everything was in order and that our checks would start arriving! Just Mr G's share. What a blessing! You see, Social security also paid us a back sum, since we waited to collect. It was a chunk, going back for 10 months! This helps so much in paying back our savings from where we took the dental surgery money from. Mr G's turnip, as I call it. The still work, is my share of his earnings. Social security wants my application, which I thought we already did, but Social security wants it again. I'll call and set up that appointment on Monday. The timing of all this is answers to prayers. We turned this over to Him, His timing, letting God prevail in our lives. He did, does, and always is there. God does always bless us, knowing what is needed and the whens, wherefores, etc, even if we think we know better. As Paul, in the New Testament wrote, we see through the glass darkly, everything is clear and before God's face., Trust in God and He will direct thy paths. Such a great truth to live by.

Today I'm taking a page out of y'alls playbooks- setting up a specific time to be in the happy place, here, the Batt Cave ! I get down there, but get squireled from actual thread meeting cotton!

My BP has come down a bit, but still high. That Dr appointment is the 12th. No symptoms - just stress over the last few years of everything going on here. Looks like that is the contributing factor.

Breakfast time, the cotton fumes time,

Hugs,
Jana

Cloudy and possible showers here at the Mothership.

Never got here yesterday, but am caught up in reading. It was a busy day. We had breakfast leftovers from a couple days ago. I wasn't able to get them out of the MH, on Wednesday or Thursday, when we were ready to eat because the MH was in a special bay with scaffolding surrounding it so they could work on the roof. It was in the regular bay yesterday, and heating them up in the Service Center kitchen worked out well. Then at 10, 2 ladies who had worked at the Service Center lounge and have retired came over to visit Deb and I. We got to know these ladies well over the years and stay in touch on FB. It was a wonderful 2 hr visit. Then I checked on the MH and went over repairs with the tech. Then it was time to pay the bill. Chaching chuching!! OUCH. I put it on the Cabela's credit card and I will just say, we just got a lot of points to spend. Deb and I ran to Rentown store about 5 miles west. I bought 10# of Church Peanut Butter and some cheese spread that's yummy. I'm not sure I bought enough Peanut Butter, when I texted Amanda and told her I bought 5# for her, she was disappointed it wasn't more. My kids Love it.

I slept in this morning and feel much better. We're going to lunch with our friends and resting up before we head west tomorrow.

Hope y'all have a great day.
Lyn

Good morning,

JUDI - I hope you get those windows done so you can earn your reward of sewing! Glad your son is feeling better. I hope he is able to enjoy the trip to Vegas. How long will they be gone?

LORI - So where are you going to see the alpacas and get some yummy new yarn? A trip to Sisters, perhaps? We mentioned, briefly, going to the Outdoor Quilt Festival there in July. That probably won't happen. We've been to Sisters many times but never to the festival. Your May Grey kind of sounds like the Bay Area's June Gloom.

CHRISS - Sounds like your dr appt was pretty thorough yesterday. Keep us informed when you have those tests, OK? How long have you known you have Mitral Valve Prolapse? Hey! You're an MVP! We always knew that. There is always a lot to do when you have a home and property to keep up. It never ends. Don't rush to do it all because there will always be something more to do. A bummer about there being no cookies at Flo's. Guess I'll stay home, too.

MARY - I LOVE the name Norah Grace! So old fashioned, so Irish, so pretty! Our Michaels started carrying fabric about 4 years ago. Not a lot but some. I have quilts all over my house, though the motherload is stored on a shelving unit in our quilting room. I have a stack of folded quilts on the hearth in the living room just for show. I move them if we have a fire but that's not very often. And I swap the quilts around all the time for seasons, holidays, and whims.

VAL - I sure hope you can figure out a way to get some good sleep. Maybe if you read that book the dr told you about. Reading a dull book usually does it for me! lol! Are you well hydrated? Being dehydrated can cause insomnia. Also, the weird hours you worked for so long. That can really mess with your biorhythms and your sleep.

FLO - you didn't have any storm damage? If I lived in tornado country I would, for sure, have to have a storm shelter! Sorry to hear about the cookie situation at your house - or lack thereof. A real bummer. Chriss and I wanted cookies. You've had some busy days! You must really use a lot of sauce to can it in quarts. But I bet it's so much more delicious than storebought!

JANA - it's such a good feeling to know everything is done. All the chores, the laundry, etc. And you are free to play! Nice to have that SS coming in. Glad to hear your BP is coming down a little. Remember - there are no symptoms of high blood pressure. I bet Sarah's yard will be wonderful when she gets it all done! Matt and Co are going to have so much fun! We loved Utah for riding the RZR. Our problem was getting it there. Triple towing is illegal in WA so we were skirting the letter of the law by towing it behind our fiver.

LOIS - did I miss you yesterday?

LYN - Glad your visit to the Mothership is about over. Sorry about the bill. I was thinking you were still under warranty.

If you were here yesterday you saw that I FINALLY finished my NYB! Whoo Hoo!!! I spent the rest of the day cleaning house and we made a trip to Costco. Six things on our list were no longer there. Then our friends came by in late afternoon for happy hour. We had a fun activity - The friends really like Jameson Irish Whiskey. We have a bottle of that plus a bottle of Kirkland Irish Whiskey. So we had a blind tasting to see if we could tell the difference. And we all decided we liked "Bottle X" the best - smoother, etc. Turns out it was Costco's brand that we all liked! And now we have a big bottle of each in our likker locker. It"s enough whiskey to take us to the end of time and beyond! lol! We aren't as big a drinkers as we like to think we are.

Today's plan is to clean downstairs, and get my NYB ready for the LA. And while I'm at it, I have my Silouette Stars ready for quilting, too. I finished the top in Texas last winter. If I have any oomph left maybe I'll start pulling fabrics for my llamas.

We're going to be 58* and cloudy today but then our temps are going to start climbing and I see several 70's in the coming 10 days. So nice!! Homemade pizza for supper tonite.

Keep those bobbins spinning!

Good Morning Girls

YEAH!! I see sunshine this morning! It's a wee bit chilly but will warm up enough to open windows! It is Saturday and I suppose that means it's chore day, but it's going to take a lot of coffee today---- I was up until after 1:00am waiting for baby news!

Baby girl is here! Afte a very long two days of induction they finally took her in for a C-section about midnight. Not sure of the details: weight, length, or name yet but she is here and absolutely perfect. My sis sent me a picture after she was all cleaned up and she has the most perfect little round cheeks! It will be a while before I can meet her as I don't believe in rushing the new mom with company---especially after a C section.

Judi... Your son is going to go to Vegas? Good for him!!! Oh gosh, it IS getting to be window washing season again isn't it. Do you hire someone to do all your outside windows? I did try to make a loaf of bread for scratch yesterday---not the greatest results. Tried a recipe on Pinterest for no-knead, but I think I messed it up somehow ---just didn't seem to want to rise. Turned out more like a heavy artisan bread--- tastes ok, especially with honey butter!

Jana.... Money is always a worry isn't it. In all the years I was responsible for making sure my employees got paid, I often wondered where the money was going to come from and magically and by the grace of God, money came in and it every body got paid--tho we were often last on the list. It's like a little miracle of money showing up when you need it. Hope your BP settles down.... do you have a monitor to check it yourself?

Lyn.... Hope you didn't faint when you go the bill!!! The points will come in handy at Christmas time.

Maryz.... That's blasphemous!!! To sub Kirkland brand for Jameson!!! Oh my gosh, my dad would be rolling over!!! My Dad used to drink Tullamore Dew sometimes too, but I always remember a bottle of Jameson in the house and I think I brought a little from Ireland back in 2000. I'm still so amazed at the beautiful quilt ! Is Bill going to use the computer for quilting it? Back in about 2001 my Dad sent me a little bottle with a note about how to properly mix Jameson with charged water (I prefer sprite)---I still have the note stuck on my fridge! 24 years later.

Chriss... Never did make it to Target! Just wasn't feeling it--I'm kind of trying to stall to closer to Sr. Citizens pay day! Are you heading to the big garage sales today? Hope you find some great stuff! Big Wisconsin garage sales are in two weeks. Viv is not having one this year, but I'm going to go down and we will go shop at them!
Not that I need more stuff

Lori.... Do men even KNOW how to dust? I don't think I ever saw my DEX with a dust rag. He did clean the toilet once and had to take me in the bathroom for show & tell! Like he wanted an award for it. I should have dragged him around to show him all the laundry I did, all the dishes I washed, all the shirts (he had a ton) that I ironed.

Guess I better get in gear, kind of over slept. I'm the clean up committee today--papers to file, dishwasher to unload and messes to clean.

Hope you all have a great day!!!

Maryz, we're not traveling to Sister's Oregon this year, but will be there in 2026 for the Quilt show and garden tour. A group of us are going out to Temecula wine county for the day and they have Alpaca there. They have recently relocated, so I'm hoping they still sell the yarn. Alpaca yarn is lovely.I bet you are glad to be moving on to the next project. Something different is always fun.

Maryq, congratulations on the new little girl. Sounds like Mama and baby had a difficult time. Glad everyone is doing well. Funny about your DEX showing you what he did. Bill used to do that too. Then one day he did it and I replied with the 10 things I did to his 1. I think I made my point. I taught me son well. He just steps up and does what needs to be done without the for need praise. If it needs to be done, just do it.

Judi, glad your son got to go to Vegas. Where are they staying?

Jana, that's a nice little surprise. Glad you got the SS taken care of.

Lyn, I bet you are glad the MH is done and ready for travel. I've never heard of Church Peanut Butter.

Lois, hope you get all your cleaning and washing done and get to enjoy your day.

Chriss, did you find anything good at the garage sales?

It's cool and drizzly here this morning. We got our walk in and didn't get too wet. I've been straightening up things. Funny how things just get put down and start to create a mess. I wish I was the person that always put thing away where they go immediately. I'm not that person. I didn't dust yesterday, so that's on the agenda for today. Unless by some miracle Bill does it. hahahaha I haven't sewn since last weekend, so I definitely want to do some of that. Don't know what's on the menu for dinner just yet. Maybe fried rice with chicken, or baked potatoes with chili, or soup and cornbread. It will be a surprise.

Have a lovely day.

Just got from plant shopping. Home Depot had some beautiful plants and I turned Sarah loose with my credit card! The only thing I did was kibbutz on the colors of plants - reds and yellows. She threw in some whites and a dusty green plant that grows short, squat and doesn't flower. There's peonies, petunias, allysum, bougainvillea, and marigolds. Maybe more, she had fun. The plants are placed in their pots in the beds. Planting will be after the sun drops behind the Oquirrhs. My house and these beds face due west and it's hot out there at the moment. Oh, the credit card got hot too!
