FRIDAY, May 2nd 2025

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri May 02, 2025 5:29 am

Good morning,

Today just may be the day I finish my New York Beauty. Fingers crossed!

TINA - Happy for Jazmyne and you both! I think it's pretty typical of her age group to know it all. Especially when she has already accomplished so much. What are her plans for the summer? And Mary Q mentioned Christmas Swap. I hope you do it. I'm in, if you do!

MQ - how is your cold? Or maybe I should ask how are you? The cold is probably thriving! And how is the baby? I'm going to assume she was born yesterday sometime? First name? Autumn has the Factor V Gene, too. But they didn't know it until she became pregnant.

LORI - it will be so nice to have a large design wall to play with! And your Christmas quilt is lovely. I see two, maybe three of my blocks in there!

LYN - I hope the problems found with your MH aren't too big and your week at the Mothership doesn't get extended. You have important things to do! You have about 1,100 miles to travel to Estes?

LOIS - I hope all the cleaning is done for the week and you are back in your sewing room.

JUDI - how is your son doing? When are they supposed to leave for Vegas? Maybe they'll just have a nice celebration at home instead? I made two loaves bread the other day. I was channeling my inner Judi. :D

CHRISS - how did your dr appt go yesterday?

JANA - What's happening in your world today?

Yesterday was a full day! Bill's ultra sound was clear - no blood clots. But also - no visible cause yet for the off/on pain, twitching, slight edema in his right leg. So they'll be ordering more tests soon. When we got home, he took the sheets off the lines and made the bed while I made our chicken tetrazzini and salad for supper. It was 75* yesterday and a purrfect evening to hang out on the deck.

I finally got 3 borders attached to my NYB. Today - Border #4 and then to miter the corners. It might be ready for the LA by end of business today! It's taken me 15 days (so far) just to do the borders. I started this baby Feb 16th and figure I'll have over 300 hours invested in it. It's taken me WAAAY out of my comfort zone and I was ready to chuck it out the window a few times. But I'm just too cheap to waste the fabric! I'll let you know tomorrow if I'm glad I stuck with it. My mind is already turning to other projects - UFO's, comfort quilts, or Elizabeth Hartman's Little Llamas for for You Know Who's Christmas quilt. All the llamas have blankets on them and maybe I should use Christmas fabrics for those blankets . . . . Just thinking while I type..... We might go to Costco today, too. I hate to go on Friday at the first of the month - everyone gets paid and it's crowded. So I'll check the list and see if anything is crucial or if it can all wait until Monday. Supper tonite will be leftover tetrazzini.

Happy quilting!

My nephew and his wife are hanging out in Three Forks, Montana this week. She sent me this picture from outside a Quilt Shop. Cracked me up. And now I want to crack all y’all up, too.

Good morning!

Perfect sign, just add, you can spend whatever you want and not be in trouble!

It's another beautiful day here. May even reach the 80 degree mark! My favorite temp is 75 - 85, that's the Goldilocks just right heat. Not too cold, not too hot, just right!

Everything got done yesterday, so it's playtime for me. We do need a couple of things at Costco, milk being the main necessity.

Sarah was over and changed the blood sugar monitor. It behaved until 6 am this morning. That was good. Sarah got her pathway rock delivered - it goes in her garden around the raised bed boxes and she got the dirt for those too. Her DH and Ethan are hauling it back from the front yard. Most of both piles are moved and Sarah has her plants already started in her greenhouse, ready to be planted. Happiness is dirt and fabric to that child!

Matt is hauling the fifth wheel to Moab today. The Young Men is his Ward are camping there, so the boys will sleep in tents, Matt in comfort. Matt has to do several repairs. Even though he winterized the trailer, some pipes broke and he'll fix them. The group are taking several side by sides, including Matt's. The boys will have lots of fun. My big boys are going too.

So after breakfast, a quick Costco run, then home to the Batt Cave!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning, cool and cloudy here. Maybe will get to the mid 60's. Some wind expected so wind chill factor will play a role. By Monday though we should be into the low 80's.

Yesterday I got some cutting done for a scrappy quilt. Had an hour long phone conversation with the sleep doctor who doesn't want to order me anything to sleep. Sent me a whole list of things to do. Wants me to take a class, read a couple of books. Says I can continue to take the OTC medications. If all else fails and I complete all the tasks she has sent me, she will send me to CBT treatment. I did try what she said last night, no sleep. Did my usual thing and did get a few hours.

Maryz that sign is hillarious. I agree with it completely.

Lois did you get the wash done, I may need the laundry room for a load today, may just wait till tomorrow though.

Lyn my sister always pulled her Jeep with the RV so she could get around. I think since she has now left the road and is living full time in Virginia she sold the jeep. I have seen sashiko projects but have never tried it. There is a lady at the LQS who teaches it once or twice a year.

Judi hope your son gets better soon and can continue with his trip to Vegas. 53 vs 23? What was he thinking.

Diane nice to see you check in. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Flo I have quit trying to grow things here. Our soil is so clay like that nothing will grow. We have spend hundreds of dollars adding stuff to it but it remains cheaper to just buy at the store. So I haven't canned in years. I think I only have a few jars left anyway. We have strawberries in a raised bed. Another raised bed has rosemary and thyme. That about the extent of my garden anymore.

Jana sure wish Andrew would slip and reveal the secret. Do you have any inkling as to where he may be headed? How are the flamingos?

Maryz I did not get that present sent, but will wrap and get it out today. I was kinda bummed after the appointment with the doctor and just didn't accomplish much the rest of the day. The little ones were doing good when they were camping with us. I do get concerned though because the boys really don't get to do much. Bio grandpa does take Lina every Sunday to a kids gym like place. I think it's called Kids Strong or something like that. They do get exercise but also taught to be brave, be strong and something else. He is afraid to take Jo Jo because of his risk for seizures due to his shunt and Xavier is just 2 and not quite potty trained yet. We have a sketchers store here, I may go look.

Tina, I agree, kids Jazmynes age do know everything, just ask them! They will learn as they grow and mature. I have 4 grands in their early 20's and they all know it all. Just ask them.

Maryq I guess I wasn't very clear. The 2 1/2 inch square is made of 1 1/2 inch pieces! I will post a picture later.

Lori I was thinking the shop should start a die library. We could check out what we need just like a library book. I am not sure once the shop sells out what the plan will be. Maybe the tarriffs will be canceled.

Well off I go to wrap the gift and get my day started. Have a great day all and may all your bobbins be full.

Good dreary memory

Doesn't look we are going to see much of the sunshine today! But doesn't sound like we are going to get any rain, so I'm safe to run to Target for a few groceries!

Maryz.... No baby yet. But I just talked to my sis, Meg had a fairly restful night (thanks to epidural). Last I heard the name will be Norah Grace--which I absolutely love. I am feeling fine tho the cold is still here. On my Target list is some Dayquil! Your quilt is just so beautiful and the name is appropriate tho I don't think you really hate Bill!! What a challenge that quilt must have been. LOVE that sign...

Judi... Oh yes, Prior Lake, almost straight south of me. There's a couple casinos down there but I have been there in ages! My DB David lives not far from there. Sorry to hear your son is still in so much pain. A trip to Vegas doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun when you're in pain. Maybe DIL can "phone a friend" Heck I could pack up a suitcase in about an hour!!

Jana... I'm with you...my preferred temp is "Room Temp" Right around 72-74-76 is perfect. But what's funny is, if I would turn the thermostat up that high in the winter I'd be sweating to death.

Flo... My goodness you have had a busy week! You are so brave to babysit a 2 year old!! I don't know if I'd even know how to change a diaper any more!!

Valerie.... 1.5" squares????? Are you nuts.. I may have misread, as I often do. I bet it will be stunning tho! Now wouldn't that be a great idea... a Die Library! Years ago there was a scrapbooking place locally that you could go and borrow their dies and cutters, tho you couldn't check them, but could use them. Unfortunately it went of out business.

Lori... Does your Michael's carry fabric? I heard a rumor that they were going to start carrying fabric. When I was in Canada in 2019 the Michael's up there had fabric about $22.00/yd in Canadian money. Yup, those Christmas blocks look familiar!!! I had a few years worth of blocks and ended up kind of tossing all the blocks together and making a few different quilts. I have so many I gave one to a few of my neighbors! I can only store so many.... but I HAVE to do one every year!!

Chriss.... How did you dr appointment go?

Oh guess what... my coffee is cold!!!  As I'm sitting here blowing my nose I'm rethinking my plan to go to Target! Probably shouldn't go spreading my germs around. I'll give it another day.

Wishing you all a Fabulous Friday

Good morning. It's going to be a wonderful day today and it will get started the instant I hit submit on this post.

My doctor appointment went well. I have an echocardiogram and a ct scan of my head with dye scheduled this month. My heart has a mitral valve prolapse and a second murmer. they want to be sure things are flowing correctly.

Tomorrow I go to a town named Denair. they have a yearly city wide yard sale, fun to be me.

Maryz, your quilt really turned out amazing. So worth all the hair pulling and grumbling under your breath. I imagine this one will not be a gift but displayed proudly. I think llama's with Christmassy blankets is an adorable idea.

Judi, when you mention perogi's it reminds me of my grandma, she made them for almost every holiday, or with kielbasa for dinner. Hope your son heals nicely and the vegas trip is a go.

Jana, I also like things between 75-80. Cooler is fine but hotter isn't appreciated. I've been known to go to Costco for a couple of thigs, but the cart fills up quickly.

Flo, you are busy but I bet you sleep like a log. I was going to stop by but since there are no cookies I will stay home.

Valerie, it took me a few weeks to learn to sleep with a cpap mask on my face. I'm not convinced that books or tricks would have worked. For me, the lack of movement allowed by sleeping in my recliner was the thing that worked. It's just about learning what works for you. I hope you find it and get the same benefit I have with my cpap.

Maryq, go to Target, get it out of the way and make the rest of the day yours. I went back into town yesterday just so I could have today uninterrupted.

Lori, great quilt. I see the block I made. I love your design wall, its really cool.

Tina, when I was Jazmyne's age my parents and grandparents weren't very smart either, but now that I am my age they have gained wisdom. They now know things.

Chicken is what is thawing in my fridge. I will start on the yard this morning and when it gets too hot to play outside I will get started indoors. I've been putting off so many things that I need to do and now I need to get it all started and eventually done.

Have a super day

Chriss, glad your appointment went well and they'll be checking you out thoroughly. How's your dad and mom? He doesn't seem to be coming over as much as he was. Did you get everything done in the house?

Jana, that's my perfect weather too.

Valerie, they used to have the Go cutters at the shops to use when they first came out, but that went away.
Probably takes up too much retail space. Hopefully you'll get they sleep thing figured out soon. After working such crazy hours for so long, I think it takes time your body to adjust to normal again. When I retired, it was about 6 months when I finally felt relaxed again. One day I just noticed it.

Maryq, no, our Michaels doesn't have fabric, but there is a sign outside that said something about fabric.
I wouldn't be surprised it they started to carry some. Although the one I go to has a sewing machine/quilt shop right next door.

Maryz, yippie...it's done, and it's fabulous. Llama would be a fun one to make, but I think Alpaca are much cuter. We have an outing planned for next month to see them. Hopefully get some yummy yarn while we're there.

Judi, what a bummer for your son. I hope he's okay to go to Vegas. We're about 3 1/2 hour drive from Vegas. We used to go more when the Desert Inn was on the strip. They were the last casino with a golf course on the strip and Bill plays golf. I haven't been in years. I was thinking maybe I'll make a trip with some friends this year.

I need to go to the Italian market today for bread. It's gloomy this morning again. Normal for this time of year. They call it May grey. The clouds come in from the Pacific ocean most of May and June. It usually clears out in the afternoon for a bit of sunshine before they roll back in for the evening. I need to vacuum and dust today. I didn't get that done yesterday. I keep holding out thinking maybe if I wait long enough, Bill might dust. Nope. That's not happening. Still plugging away at dad's. I would like to get some sewing in today. We'll see if that happens.

Dinner will be Tortellini and a veggie.

Have a lovely day.
Lori 8-)
