Friday April 25th 2025
Good morning It is cloudy today and looks like rain though non is forcast. I am doing laundry today,
Had a nice day with Sophia yesterday we went to the used prom dress store but they were way over priced...and had very few yellow gowns that were close to a size zero. ( Sophia is tall and tiny) we went over to hobby lobby and she did find yellow satin 54 inches wide, and bought a yard to just play around with,,,she is teaching herself to make the tight fitting corsette at the top of the dress,,,we also bought some gold illets for a lace up closure. She is doing all of this without a pattern,,,just a photo. We had lunch at Tim Hortons and she sure is a chatty girl...2 of her friends are coming over tonight for a sleep over...for their entertainment they have decided to bake a cake from scratch,,,but the kicker is one will be blindfolded, one will be deaf, and one will be mute. they have to assist each other in the recipe and prep... Maybe my daughter will video tape this adventure,,,although I dont think she wants to be in her kitchen when this is taking place....but Sophia is excited about it.
I will work on month 12 of the garden quilt today, as the laundry runs,,we will have breakfast for supper tonight, Sausage gravy and biscuits,,,I have sausage that needs to be used,,,so that is it,,,
Hope you all have a great day. Shouldnt we all take ourselves out of our comfort zone and do something different,,,maybe today XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo

Re: Friday April 25th 2025
Good morning
Another nice day here in the PNW - cloudy but 71*. I'll take it!
CHRISS - so nice of you to take your friend for her colonoscopy today. I bet she wishes it were even earlier in the day, not having eaten for a few days. Here, they no longer require the driver to remain in the waiting room. We can go run errands or even go home as long as we're no more than 15 min away. I'm glad you are getting good use of the Libby app. But why do you have to go outside to listen to your audiobook? I have mine going while I sew, cook, clean, garden, etc. Right now I'm listening to a cozy mystery by Krista Davis. You are right - Bethstreet passed away several years ago. She was my very first Secret Santa. And again, you are right - SharonKl babysat her grandkids. I recall Iowagal but not her real name. One I miss is Quiltinkay in Florida. But she was much older than the rest of us.
VAL - I hope you made it to your class on time yesterday. No speeding! Yes, it was Bethstreet who lived in the Stockton area. I hope you and CPAP will become friends before long. No sure I could do it. Machine binding takes practice, but eventually, it's not hard. I was forced to learn it because my hands got so bad. That was the year all my grandpets got little quilts for Christmas. And not one of them complained about my stitching!
MARY Q - did you find anything at Joann's?
JANA - so nice to find a gift card! I hope it's not to Joann's!! Did you get your Batt Island all cleaned off and ready to sew? So, can Andrew put in a request for a certain place? Where would he LIKE to go? And this interrupts college? Can he request to finish college first?
LYN - last night, Bill and I were talking and wondering how your travel day went? Hope no more disasters. Hope you found a place to fix your windshield. I know Safelight will come to you, I believe.
JUDI - I know your yesterday was a fun day with Sophia! She is certainly an enterprising young lady! Love the kitchen adventure she and her friends are planning. Can't wait to hear all about it! I have to say, I've followed your advice to step outside my comfort zone with my NYB! And I learned a lot. But I'm ready to come back inside that comfort zone now for a while!
And did you get up early to see "God's smile" in the sky? Do you know yet what your next project is going to be?
LOIS - I see they caught the 19 yr old suspect who (allegedly) started the fire. I just don't understand what can be going on in the mind of an arsonist. How is the baby quilt coming along?
Yesterday morning was chiropractor. Then I worked a little on my NYB borders. We left at noon, delivered a birthday present to a friend in Tacoma, and then drove to Lakewood (small town south of Tacoma). Bill had an appt to get his enhanced drivers license. And as long as I was there and had my passport, license, and a utility bill showing my residence, they squeezed me in, too, even though my license isn't up for renewal until next March. But in case you are like me and use your middle name, they also want to see a second piece of ID with both first and middle names on it. Fortunately, I had my CWP and my voter's registration card in my wallet. But heads up - We chose to renew for 8 years. And it was $140. Each. Ouch! When we got home at 2pm, we relaxed on the deck and I read a book. The weather was just too nice to go back into the sewing room. Today - more border sewing. I got the first, narrow, inner border sewn onto my quilt. Borders 2, 3, and 4 are sewn together before sewing them to the quilt, using mitered corners. I have the top triple border nearly together. Today's plan is to finish that one and get a start on the bottom triple border. And I'm hoping to be able to pick up my pace as I get my feet under me with this project. I'm ready to move on to something else. Anything else!
We are going out to dinner again tonite with different friends. To the other Italian restaurant in town - which is on the water so there is a pretty view. We'll be a group of 8 and the purpose of our dinner is to make plans for a wine tasting trip we're all taking together to Walla Walla in June. It will be a fun dinner!
Wishing us all full bobbins and the time to empty them!

Good morning from rainy Effingham, IL. Radar shows it should be moved through by the time we will leave.
Yesterday's travel was fine, though we did hit a heavy rainstorm for a couple miles. I put the emergency flashers on as precaution, as did the trucker in front of us.
MaryZ, Yes, we use Safelight, but I won't call until we get to Nappanee. I drove 380 miles yesterday. But that means today is only about 280 miles.
I messed up my rock story. It was 4/23 at 3:23 that we were hit by a rock in Little Rock. I noted the time just in case the insurance wants details. I just thought it a little humorous, or maybe I'm tired from driving.
We will leave here after my social security phone appt at 10. A follow up on a letter they sent.
Hope all y'all have a good day.
Lyn

Good morning!
Sunny and bright. Windy last night and Mr G isn't fond of picking up the trash when the wind blows the cans over. So he waited until this morning to roll it to the street. So we're both up. Herriman wind is well known for moving the cans. In fact, in the side yard during the week, before pickup, my cans are attached to a secure post, so they don't blow over.
Andrew and mission calls. Yes, he will put his college education on hold for these next two years. Quite a common practice and many universities also put scholarships on hold too. It's a planned in your life to serve a mission. Nope, no picking or asking where you'll serve. A church committee, made of and called for this purpose, even some of the Apostles serve on this committee, use inspiration from God to know where each individual missionary is called to serve. Each missionary candidate's paperwork is looked at, individually, and prayerfully considered, as to where he is to serve.. It's not by happen chance where Andrew will go. Andrew is fluent in the Spanish language, but that may not have any weight or bearing, in where he'll serve. A mission is a voluntary action, you alone decide to put in the paperwork, no one forces you to serve. It's not a church absolute duty, but a joy to volunteer to serve wherever you are called to work. I think currently that there are 450 missions, areas in the world, and here in the states, where you could go. The church has around 80,000 missionaries currently serving. In a fun way of looking at missionaries, the word MOM, actually is a acronym for Mother Of Missionary. I have a small pin I wore during the time Matt served in Costa Rica and Aaron in Jacksonville Florida. If I could only find a pin that had a G with the Mom - then I'd wear it as Grandma of a Missionary! Andrew leaves on June 2nd.
Yes, the Batt Cave floor has carpet that's visible again! I got the toys picked up, sorted as where they go and put in those boxes. I have a large collection of old Fisher Price sets, Brio wooden train sets, the Duplo large toddler legos, and a bunch of miscellaneous baby toys. I'm keeping the Fisher Price and the Brio trains. The rest will be DI'd -that's donated. I also have a wooden table, painted to look like a farm on the top, with four wooden chairs that are animal shaped backs. A cow, pig, horse and lamb. It's toddler size and my littles are waaaay to big, even though they still sit and play at that table. Some other little will get fun at that table. Sad for me to have it go. I still have under the recliners and sofa to check for the little people figures that go with the Fisher Price sets. Today's project. Is the island. Most big kid toys -- my new computers and gear for them.
Ethan was nominated and won a special award for this quarter at his Middle School. It was for outstanding GPA and citizenship. He was nominated by his teachers and then the school principal chose who won. Ethan had no idea of even being nominated until Monday this week, and received the award on Wednesday. 16 other kids were nominated too and received awards for different categories. The honor roll one, went to Ethan. Wooden plaque and all. We knew Ethan was getting the award, last week, but we're told to keep it secret. Vwe did. On Monday, Ethan came home from school all excited about being nominated. That was all that mattered to him. He didn't care if he won or not. He was quite surprised that he won. Aa side note, observation, all the kids that were nominated, all had music backgrounds. Humm, music does make a difference.
Need a run to the bank this morning. Finally got who all the rest of the money for my dental work. And a stop to grab my antibiotics prescription, it finally was sent over. Down to two small loads of laundry too.
So I'm off to get started,
Hugs
Jana

Good Morning Girls
Never did get back here yesterday, tho I meant to. By the time I got home from Joann I had to hit the ground running and crank up the embroidery machine to get a few more patches done!
Judi.. Oh what fun to go thrift shopping with Sophie!! When I was in high school, I would go to thrift stores and buy skirts and remake them---those were the days when girls could not wear pants to school--only dresses or skirts. But I just think that is so cool that she wants to sew costumes and clothes for herself. Too bad they don't still living in MN --- that fabric warehouse is no far from where they used to live!
Maryz..... I'm trying to remember Iowagal's real name too, but it escapes me. There are many gals I miss here and a few I don't!
Like any group, we've had our share of "drama"! I did find what I needed at Joann, but a few other things fell in my cart. I'm using Duck Canvas for the patches and since they had exactly what I needed I grabbed enough for next year--just in case they need patches again. Glad you were able to get your license and real ID all taken care of, I might go do mine, but I have to find a few more papers since I've had a name change back and forth. I do have a passport to fly to Alaska, so I'm in no hurry. A wine tasting trip.... count me in!!
Flo.... Good news that they arrested the arsonist!!! Are you chasing dust bunnies or real bunnies? How are your chickens doing? Will they start laying more now? The city next to me was going to have hearing a couple weeks ago to decide if they were going to allow backyard chickens... lots of folks want to have chicken now that egg have gotten so expensive!
Lyn... Hope your windshield is an easy fix!!! I think Safelight did mine a few years ago and it was really handy to have the come right out to the house.
Jana... Wow, you sure had a lot of toys!! I wonder if a local Day Care center could use them or do you have a nursery at your church? Congratulations to Ethan! That's awesome--- good grades are one thing, but to be awarded for citizenship--that would make me even prouder. Funny you mention 11-11-11... for some reason I remember exactly where I was that date--at work but it's memorable because an Pharmacist that I worked with.. his grandson was born that day!
Chriss.... If I remember correctly you used to do a lot of genealogy. Am I remembering that right? My dad did lots and I have a lot of his papers, tho passed quite a few on to my niece. I like seeing the dates and the names, but the best part was the stories about the people, like your ancestor that built the columns. I often with I would have recorded my folks telling their stories.
Kind of an overcast day here but I'm expecting to warm up to about 60 so maybe I'll get to open a window or two. Threw my sheets in wash already and need to go tidy up the kitchen--I'm really bad--I don't always clean up messes before I go to bed.
Here's the patches!
40 done, 25 more to go!
Definitely going to need more coffee~
Wishing you all a fabulous Friday

Judi, that would be wonderful if Sophia could figure out how to create her own dress.
When you can't find what you want, that's the next best thing. For my junior high graduation I made my formal dress with a matching blouse cover in sheer fabric. I loved sewing from the moment I was taught.
Maryq, I think Iowagal's name was Sharon. She died a while ago. I remember seeing that on FB. I'm going to get out my signature quilt and look at the names. I've done a bit of genealogy. It's so interesting to read the stories. There's a lot of great information on Ancestry. I like your patch.
Jana, those toys will make some other children very happy. Batten down the hatches! I remember a few years ago when I was at Jonathan's house in West Haven it was really windy. I was surprised it was able to move the outdoor patio furniture to the other side of the deck. Congratulations to Ethan.
Lyn, that sounds like a start of of book. Hope it's an easy fix.
Flo, glad they caught the person who started the fire. Wonder how many other fires he's lit in his day. Arsonist are crazy.
Maryz, we had our id's changed over a few years ago. We like to fly, so it was necessary. Glad you got yours done. Sounds like you had a nice day to sit outside. Yes, that was the pattern I was looking at the other day. Crazy borders. Enjoy dinner. Italian is my favorite. I have a small lasagna in the freezer I might pull out for dinner. Thanks for the full bobbin wish. I need it.
Chriss, did you finish up the weed eating yet? It sounds like a big job. How often do you have to do it?
I was going to post yesterday, but when I went to get on the computer our internet was down. Then I got busy and never came back. I worked at dad's a bit, then took 10 bags of clothes and some other things to the Goodwill. You would think that would be all the clothes in the house since I've made several trip with clothes, but no. There's still another closet.
I've been working on gathering everything I need for the transfer of the trust. I did do a little quilting on a the small PP one. I really need to finish it up so I can do something else. I also go my new Felt Right tiles for my design wall. So I need to figure out where I wan to put it. It will be 71 1/4 x 71 1/4. I like the tiles because they are clean looking when your not using the wall. You can also put pins in them which is helpful.
I think our dinner will be left over stew, but I could change my mind and go with lasagna.

Re: Friday April 25th 2025
Good afternoon. It was a chilly and busy day today.
I left at 4am and took a friend to the doctor. We were home by 1pm. I had to turn the heater on in the house, it was quite chilly and still is.
Last night in our sleepy town 4 sheriff's cars went up my road sirens blazing. Sadly a toddler walked right into a fire pit and got 2nd and 3rd degree burns. I tuned on Brodcastify, a website that you can use to listen to the calls. They had to call a helicopter to transport him.
Tomorrow, if it doesn't rain, I am supposed to help the friends of the library go through books. I pray it rains. I also need to clean the parents house, this week went by really fast.
Judi, I can't imagine being a size zero. Not even sure if that was a thing when I was a teen. Hope her creation comes out beautifully. Her friends evening sounds like a lot of messy fun. Bet they laugh so hard they don't finish making the cake.
Maryz, What is it you order at an Italian rest. My pick is chicken parm. I wouldn't pick spaghetti, too basic. And lasagna is too heavy. It would either be chicken parm or, linguini and clams. I don't have to go outside to listen to a book, the book begs me to go outside and get something done. I can listen uninterrupted. It's why my weed eating is going so well, thanks!
Flo, glad they caught the arsonist, amazing the destruction they can cause.
Lyn hope the SS appointment went well and you are on your way to your next stop.
Jana, high five to Ethan. muss his hair for me and tell him I said great job. Glad we don't have to wait a long time to hear where Andrew will end up, I'm pretty curious.
Maryq, cool patches, Nice that you are able to make them. The stories are the best part of family history.
Lori, I've got a bit of weed whacking to go. And if the neighbor doesn't do the strip between my fence and the road, I will do it myself. I knock down 100 feet around my house and pump house, then I am in a position to mow it. Right now there are limbs that have fallen and rocks in the field that shouldn't be run over with a mower. My signature quilt is from 2010. I can't read a lot of the signatures anymore. I think that if the light in the closet is left off the clothes multiply. Then you have more to take to goodwill. Your design wall sounds wonderful. A great size. Hope ou love it.
I'm pooped, I think it's time to get on my jammies and relax. I had a salad for dinner, tomorrow I will cook up that spaghetti squash and make some spaghetti.
You girls have a great night
