Good morning,

News on the fire it's 50% contained that's good no houses burnt and no lives taken they say it should be out by the weekend.
My niece and nephew are fine thank you for the prayers.
Today Bill has another Dr appt and afterwards we will be home I will finish cutting the sunflower quilt but now I have a detour before I can start that .
I got a call from my sister Rosie yesterday she wants me to make a baby boy quilt for someone so I pulled out my owl quilt pattern that I used 8 yrs ago for one of her other friends so I will do that.
Yes we are supposed to get some of that smoke up this way  .

Well that's all the news from here .

Good morning from Judsonia, AR.

Yesterday's travel started with some heavy rain, then overcast most of the day. The day was good until, get this, on the 23rd, at 2:23 p.m. we had a rock hit the middle of the windshield....ready....in Little Rock! I hope it can be filled.

MaryZ, I will have to check that book, sounds interesting.

Valerie, I've had a CPAP for almost 4 years. I found using a small travel pillow works best especially when I lay on my side. My face is on the edge and not pushing on the mask. My daughter suggested a grounding mat that is at our feet and legs on the bed. I think it helps me get a better night's sleep.

Today will be a longer one, to Effingham, IL, so I better get moving.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Lyn

Good morning,

We're chilly this morning, but going to 73* this afternoon - the warmest day so far this year. Whoo hoo!!

JUDI - I'm glad Chey is out of fire range. Not sure how I mixed up Maine and NJ. So did you get your blocks finished yesterday? How many are there altogether? I still haven't inventoried my UFO's. I'm determined to finish NYB before even thinking about anything else. I, too, am an early riser but I think everyone already knows that. I'm up between 0430 and 0500. I push the coffee button, feed the kids, and sit on the living room couch with my laptop and chat with all y'all while I have my coffee. Then I usually sew until 0800 when I meet Lori Across the Road to walk. After that, I get into my day - chores, appts, shopping, or more sewing. I try to do chores and appointments as early in the day as possible, too, and that includes getting dinner prep done. Have a fun day with Sophia! She must be on spring break?

JANA - thank you! I believe you are correct about my first border. If not, we'll both go back to head scratching! When I had my implants, my oral surgeon was also the anesthesiologist, so those fees were one lump sum, but my dentist was separate as he was the one who set the finished crowns. Once it's all over, you will love your new teeth. CHICKIE has ten implants and assured me, after I'd procrastinated for 2 years, that I would love mine and she was right.

VAL - you are making progress with your CPAP and sleeping. From what I've heard most women "of a certain age" don't sleep well at all. I'm one of them. My mind just won't shut off. Occasionally I will take a "PM". But Tylenol PM can leave me a bit logey in the morning. IBU-PM doesn't. At least last night, I was quilting in my sleep and not fretting over troublesome issues that I have no control over. Sorry about your tooth bothering you. I hope it's no big thang. Our dentist is retiring and selling his practice to a new dentist. We went for cleanings last fall and after paying nearly $1,000 for 2 cleanings and one set of Xr's, the new dentist told us, between the two of us, we needed another ~$7,000 worth of work done. :o Not sure I'm going to stay with this practice. Just when I found the best hygienist I've ever had.

MARY Q - my internet news had nothing on the NJ fires either. I didn't know about them until I got on our forum so I had to pull them up myself. You are a doll to do those patches - but how like you!! As my dad was wont to say - your reward in heaven shall be great! I remember the name Iowagirl. But I'm trying to recall her real name. Was she the one who was raising her grandkids?

CHRISS - Did you eat some more weeds yesterday? So how many more times this year will you have to do that chore or will the weeds be done for this year when you finish? Dolly Parton's book program is great. I'm glad Elliott is signed up for it. Amara isn't. Her mama is director of two libraries. Their house is filled with books! Plus, Mama brings home a big bag of different books every week. Books are kind of a theme that runs through my family. Besides being a nurse, my mom was also my high school librarian. And I'm a big reader and at last count have over 2000 books in my house and have read almost every one of them, many more than once. My decorating "theme" is books, quilts, and cats. My house is tacky, but warm and cozy and, I hope, welcoming. As for maps when traveling, my preference is paper maps, but then I'm not usually the driver. We use the Garmin GPS system in our truck (oriented towards RV's) and if traffic is looking 'iffy' we pull up WAZE which will give us an alternate route. And WAZE hasn't failed us yet!

FLO - glad your brother is OK and I pray his home is, too. How was Easter dinner at your house? Turkey sounds delish! You remind me I have a turkey breast in our freezer. I should make that one day soon.

LORI - I hope you get to sew at least a little bit every day. Handling estates is no picnic. Are you still taking bridge lessons? And Yes, this NYB quilt is a crazy and crazy-making pattern. In the designer's bio it says she needed a "quickie" gift for her son's wedding so she "whipped up" this design and then made it. She calls it a wedding quilt. Her other son laughed and said, "there's no way! You should call it an anniversary quilt instead." And she confessed that son was correct! It wasn't finished until long after the wedding. lol!

TINA - good to hear from you! How is your foot feeling? Did you get your inserts? I was wondering if you were able to sew with the dirt blowing. I hope by now it has stopped. I know when I bought my sewing machine, they said the warranty would be voided if I sewed outside. And that was without dirt storms blowing!

LOIS - is your icemaker in your fridge or a free-standing ice maker? Ours is in our Samsung fridge and it goes out every so often and needs to be "reset". I hate it. Bill did that yesterday - had to go on-line to get the directions on how to do that. Which owl quilt are you doing for your sister's friend's baby? I have an owl pattern from a magazine years ago. It's an owl sitting on a branch with a window pane in the background. I've made it once and it's so cute! Good news on the fires!

LYN - What a bummer about the "little rock" chip in your windshield! Is it a whole windshield or half? I hope it's fillable and doesn't spider on you. I know you know an RV windshield is big bucks! I hope your day today is trouble free!

Yesterday I went with Bill for his ultra sound which, as the two before, confirmed yes, there is something - cyst?, growth?, nodule? near his thyroid. He has an appt May 6th with an ENT specialist. I worked on borders yesterday. Have one short border nearly finished. Then we went out to Italian restaurant for dinner. Today, I'm doing a ride-along with Bill as he goes to Lakewood to get his new Real ID drivers license. My license isn't due for renewel for another 11 months, but maybe they'll sneak me in on his appt anyway. One can hope. I didn't think about this until yesterday. I have every intention of, when we get home, sitting out on the deck, enjoying the nice weather, and reading a book. We'll see if that happens. As for supper - it might just be poached eggs on English muffins topped with queso. Or baked potatoes topped with broccoli and queso.

Make your day a good one!

Good morning!

Looks like some rain may come my way. Appears Chriss is sharing. Thanks for that!

My Andrew called last night with news - Good and I have to be patient. Andrew's mission call came through! He's very excited. We all are! Andrew is still at college in St George. Matt and Crenda went down yesterday as Andrew opened the letter for his mission call. Opening that letter is a big deal, so they shared that moment with Andrew. Now, my be patient part, Andrew is keeping where he'll serve for 2 years a secret until May 5th! That pill! Andrew, Matt and Crenda know, but won't tell until a family get together on the 5th! I am in on part of the secret from the rest of the family, Andrew leaves for the mission field on June 2nd. That is a very quick time, about 40 days to get prepared. Most of the time after getting the call and leaving is about 3 months. Nope, we've got 40 days! Grandma will take Andrew, Crenda will come too, to the suit shop and buy what Andrew will need , clothing wise, for his mission. Suit, white shirts, shoes, etc. The Church sends a list of what to take. When I did all this when Matt served, I looked at that list and thought, it will never fit in one suitcase! It did! So I have a missionary again. Don't know where he'll serve, he may be coming to your area! 😀

Worked on the Batt Cave. Made a run to Costco and got the storage boxes needed. I definitely need to get all tamed down there as the gremlins have piled things high and deep on my sewing island. In straightening up, I ran across a gift card of $100 that I had forgotten. I did a small project for Daniel's company and I told the company I would just do it for free. No, they sent me this gift card. Now a free trip to the LQS!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls

Just a quick fly by this morning... I'm showered and dressed, but need to do hair and face then make a mad dash to Joann---one more time! I'm not sure I have enough fabric on hand to finish more patches. It's a duck canvas fabric and I'm hoping Joann has a little bit left. I have a little left over from the stuff I used last year but it's a little different color---not sure if that will be a big deal or not but I'd like them to be all the same. I have about 30 more patches to make.

Once I get home I'll start up the machine and get to stitchin' and while that is running I'll throw in some laundry and finish attaching bindings to the six quilts I have back from Viv! One more to go!

If I get a chance I'll peek in later!

In the meantime .... have a great day!

Happy Thursday, internet issues this morning so went on and started my day. Breakfast is done, vacuuming is done. Load of laundry folded and put way, load in the dryer. My stuff is together for open sew today. Just going to see how far I can make it on a small table topper quilt. Can't remember the measurements. Maybe 20 x 20 but don't hold me to that. I looked at so many patterns, can't remember the size of the one I chose. I pulled all the fabric from my 1800s yesterday and I am ready to go.

Oh the CPAP. We are not getting along. I do fine when I go to bed, can read for 45 min or so till the Melatonin and whatever else is in this pill kicks in. But usually wake up around midnight ish. Then I can't manage the mask. I am pretty claustrophobic and it just bothers me. I tried to relax and just go with it but ended up taking it off and going back to sleep.

Maryq the Joann's here just hasn't had anything that is calling me back. 6 bindings! Do you do yours on the machine? I have not mastered that so do mine by hand.

Jana uhm, 40 days is a familiar number. Wonder if there is a connection. I am wondering if the destination is Hawaii or some place like that. I have friends who came back from mission in Hawaii not long ago. They loved it. Maybe Africa? That would be fun. South America, oh I can think of so many wonderful places to go.

Maryz I do not inventory my UFO's, that would be an overwhelming task. I have to start focusing more on my sewing. That MC really burned me out and it still isn't done. Sunday I will work on it. I made no progress on figuring out the dental situation yesterday. May need to call. I did go have my CT scan last night and no changes were seen. Mass is the same size so likely a cyst. I guess I also have a few cysts on the kidneys. The radiologist said nothing to worry about.

Maryq I do remember Iowagal but not much about her. She had grandkids that were born early. Don't remember much of the details but one was having significant issues. That's all I remember. There was a girl that lived close by me in Stockton, can't remember her name. She passed away too.

Lyn thanks for the suggestion. I will see if I can find such a pillow, may have to make one.

We shoot, I didn't realize it was so late. I am not even dressed, car is not loaded, lunch is not made and I have to leave in 15 minutes!

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning. It's going to be a great day today. Yesterday was a little sewing, housework and yard work, today will be more of the same.

Tomorrow I take a friend to the doctor so she can have a colonoscopy. It will be a long day, I will listen to an audio book and take some hexi's to work on while I wait. I sort of wish the appointment was a little later in the day but such is life.

Lori, It is funny how so many people have come and gone here. I wonder if there are more than 10 or 15 of us left. Hope whatever the trust atty gave you as homework was an easy task. How was the stew? I love stew with thick gravy. While grocery delivery isn't offered here, I would also want to pick out my stuff, I am also a label reader, twins again.

Tina, I'm hoping that tiny breeze doesn't bring more dirt. Has it always been so windy and dusty where you are?

Lois, glad the fire is almost out. I have an app on my phone called Watch Duty. It gives updates on fires by location. Hope that baby quilt goes quickly. You are a nice sister to make one for her.

Judi, I will look into that smile face to see when I can see it. I think this country could use God's smile. I hope you and Sophia have a wonderful girls day. sounds like lots of fun.

Lyn, dang, what a series of events. Little Rock is where my ancestor lived in the 1830's He built the columns for the state house there and had a grog and a boarding house which are still on the state house property. Effingham is near Sumner where Jerry grew up. His aunt lived in Olney. Wish I was traveling with you, but you'd probably not want to stop and let me explore.

Maryz, both of your dinner options sound wonderful. I got my real ID some time ago, Dad and I were going to fly someplace. It was a few months before my actual license expired. They told me I may have to pay the fee again when my license expired, they were right. Dad and I never flew and I paid twice. Thank you for telling me about that library app. I go outside just so I can listen to the rest of the book, I sure cruise through the weedeating quickly. I've got my audio book and extra batteries for the weed eater, it's good to be me. I weedeat once a year, usually in May. I jumped the gun and started in april but then we got a little rain and that made everything grow again. I'm pretty new at doing it myself and it's a learning curve. I think the gal raising her grandkids was SharonKL. I don't remember Iowagirls real name.

Jana, woo hoo for found giftcards. What a treat. Exciting news for Andrew. Will he need to leave college while on a mission? And does he stay in one place for the entirety of his mission or move around? Personally I don't think it's fair to have you wait so long to find out where he's going to be, but it is fun wondering. Curious to know if the stuff to take list has changed since Matt went on his mission.

Maryq, you go girl, get those patches done.

Valerie, was it Bethstreet that lived near you? I heard she passed away. Sorry about the argument you are having with your cpap mask. I know it took me a while to get used to it. I have an app on my phone called Lectio 360 and listen to it before falling to sleep. It's about 15 minutes long and is quite soothing, sometimes I fall asleep before it is over. There are masks that just fit in the nose and don't cover any part of the face, maybe that would be helpful?

I think I will have some breakfast and start my day. Dinner last night was air fried chicken tenders and broccoli. I think since I am repeating yesterday's chores I will repeat yesterday's dinner.

You all have a fabulous day,
Chriss

Yes, the biblical proportions have not escaped us here. Her another to add to that. When Michael retired, it was after 40 years and 40 days from his date of hire. Yes, 40 is common. Mr G reminded me that the date of retirement was 11-11-11, which throws people for a loop too,.
