Hello from Longview, TX.

I appreciate all the travel prayers ❣️

I truly believe God watches over us. I won't bore ya with details, but several things happened to slow our leaving and then the GPS in the MH had an error message and I wasn't sure it was reliable, so I used my phone for route and it showed that I-35 in Temple was closed, so phone had a different route. If we had left earlier, we would have been stuck for hours, from what the story I found said. Anyway we didn't leave until after 12 and by 5 we still had 150 miles to Texarkana and only 80 miles to Fernbrook RV in Longview, we've stayed here before.

I will decide how far we travel today, after my coffee kicks in.

Prayers for your needs. Hope y'all have a nice day.
Lyn

Good morning,

Today I have started cutting out my sunflower quilt and I will try to get it done.
I got a text from bjs telling me my sunglasses are in so we will leave and go get them.

Also have to call a repair man my ice maker went and we have to get a new one installed so when we get back I will put a call in.

That fire in NJ my niece and nephew live over there
They are my sister Dolores children they can use a couple of prayers.

Well that's all the news from here.
Prayers go out to all.

Good morning

Prayers for all impacted by the NJ fire. The good news is that so far, no injuries have been reported or at least that's what I read this morning. May the angels work extra shifts to keep residents, firefighters, law enforcement, and wildlife safe .

JANA - you are correct - Leah was scrapquilter, lived in Canada, and passed away several years ago from stomach cancer. She was my Secret Santa once. She had so little but was very generous with what she did have. I think Scrappie66 was before my time here, too.

LOIS - you are thinking of Jacquie from Scotland. Her DH, Colin, was in the military. But they divorced and she remarried a man named Steven. She is occasionally on FB. I'll be thinking of your niece and nephew who are close to the fire. But NJ isn't that big, so even you are probably at least seeing some smoke? Are you doing the sunflower wall hanging or the bigger sunflower quilt?

JUDI - your DGD, Cheyenne, also lives in NJ, doesn't she? Hoping she and family are OK. How did it go in the sewing room yesterday?

VAL - you are brilliant. I never thought of taking a photo of my computer screen! I hope you are able to adjust to the CPAP if you need it. I don't think I could, but I suppose nobody thinks they can until they have to. Thanks for taking the time to research Scrappie66. Sounds like she made that post about 7 months before I joined the forum. I hope she is still alive, well, and enjoying those grandchildren.

LORI - that is where I get little holes in my tee shirts, too - right over the button on my jeans. I didn't realize you were among the Elite Petite, too. How tall are you? I am 4' 11-1/2". I've lost 1/4". Sadly, what I'm losing in height I'm gaining in weight! The name of my pattern is Dazzling New York Beauty by Cinzia White of Australia. It does have the spikey border. The spikey border is the third of four borders. I thought about skipping the borders or doing something simpler. But my OCD is my enemy - I had to at least try it. I feel for your son - allergy season in Texas can be bad even for folks who don't have allergies!

CHRISS - you know how bunnies multiply! Glad you were able to round them all up. Did your new weed eater arrive? Have fun with that! haha! Last time I used a briefcase? Probably never. But I used to do a lot of creative writing and Bill got me a thin case to carry writing supplies when we traveled. It's covered in cat print brocade. I love it, but don't use it much now. It lives on the top shelf of the office closet (aka Autumn's old bedroom) along with Bill's (which he does use for the computers when we travel). And you, too, were on top of our "mystery" surrounding some of our old members. So, do you remember Joyce in Kentucky, who had horses? I wonder what happened to her.

MARY Q - 28 minutes to stitch out just one patch. With 5 thread changes?? You are a saint! I would be bug-wacky after a day of that! When do you have to have these done by? I agree with most of the social media sources. Partly because I'm so electronically illiterate, partly because I don't need another time-sink in my life, and partly because I don't trust them, especially Tik Tok. I do have a Facebook account but don't usually go there. Only if I've got time to kill in waiting rooms, etc. Nice to have all those quilts back, quilted! Viv is a great friend! Now if you did your bindings by machine you could have them all done in just one day.

LYN - sorry things haven't gone according to plan so far, but then, sometimes they work out for the better - your missing the traffic jam on '35', or worse - being involved in whatever caused the jam! Keep safe! I'm reading a mystery right now by Livia J. Washburn, a Texas author, and it's set in the Rockport, Aransas Pass area. Makes me think of you - and friends we have who live in Rockport.

Yesterday I started paper piecing the spikey border of my NYB. It's the third of the four borders but I figure once I get this one figured out, the rest might "fall into place". We'll see . . . And Bill and I made a video for Amara - We read The Little Red Hen, my favorite book when I was little, aloud to her. We set up a tableau outside to look a bit like the pages of the book. We wore funny hats and we took turns reading the book. Then we popped the book into the mail to Amara and sent the video to Daddy and told him to hold it until she receivs the book and they could help her follow along. It was great fun!

Tonite for supper - no cooking! Friends, Doyle & Susie invited us to join them at Il Lucano's Italian restaurant downtown (downtown being a mile away, down a steep hill to the harbor). In the meantime I plan to work on my spikey border some more. And I don't know what all else. Maybe I'll bake some bread. Bill is down to eating some old hamburger buns that have been in the freezer since we were in Texas! And I'm too lazy to go to the store for just one item.

I hope there's cotton in your day! And full bobbins!

Good morning!

A bit cloudy today. But that's OK. A bit of muted sunshine helps with my eyes.

Got paperwork done for my dental stuff. What a mess. We were told that we pay the oral surgeon the full amount and that took care of everything. Nope. There's the fee to the anesthesia guy and my regular dds who's in on all this. So the payments are made to each, and now I have to call my dad's to see how he wants the money! I don't need this headache!

Not much here. Still fussing in the Batt Cave.

Maryz - I think, which is sometimes a dangerous thing, that the instructions on your current pp project have a built in fudge factor for that border you cut at 1 1/2 inches. It seemed to me that gives you space to trim it down, allowing the paper pieced spiky border to fit perfectly. That border is a very fixed size and you can then adjust to fit, by trimming. Sounds like the designer thought ahead!

Time to try to be useful,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning everyone. Two things to accomplish today, need to get the car washed and get my CT scan this evening. They schedule up till 8 pm so I was able to get in at 7:15 pm. The doctor said I don't need contrast so no prep. It should just take 5 min or so.

Lyn it certainly does souond like God had a plan. Continued prayer for traveling mercies. It's a tough world out there. Be Safe.

Lois certainly prayers are in order for your family. These fires over the last few years are getting worse. I never would have expected this in NJ though. It's been years since I have been there. Hope they come out okay. Wonder what Jacquie is doing these days?

Maryz I am thinking yes, Scrappie was before your time. She didn't stay long, same as many others. You know, I still think about Leah. Her and her kitties. I am sure glad her brother stepped up in the end to help her. Not brilliant, I just take many photos of certain things, I delete them when I no longer need them. I looked up that pattern, not for me. I have too many irons in the fire already. I remember someone who had horses. That is as far as my memory goes.

Judi that banana bread sure smells good. I don't hear from the grandkids much either. I did send the owl quilt to my DGD but she has never really thanked me for anything so not expecting much. I am her last living grandmother so we will see. I try to like her but it is really hard. I did get some fabric to make something for her brother so he doesn't feel left out. I need to get a back purchased before the pricing goes up. It is made with strips and squares so should go together fast.

Chriss I made it with the CPAP last night about 5.75 hours. That was broken up though into a 2 hours session and a 3.75 hour session. I bought some different sleep medication and I was able to fall asleep faster. Will try that again tonight and my goal is to go over 6 hours tonight. If I ever slept all night I would likely think I had died and gone to heaven. It has been so long I can't even remember. Since retirement the most I have slept straight is 4 hours. I am afraid to take regular sleeping pills so I will just have to deal with it.

Jana sorry about the dental mess. I need to figure out who Kaiser pays for as my left back molar is hurting. Need to get an appointment.

Well, I will go get a few things out of my car so I can take it to the wash. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Prayers for NJ.

Good Morning Girls!!

Oh What a lovely day!! A few degrees warmer and I'll be throwing open the windows and turning down the thermostat!!! These are the kind of days I wait all winter for!

Lyn... Sorry there was snafu to your travel plans, but you are so right!! God does work in mysterious ways. Hope He continues to watch over you and keep all those highways open!

Lois... Every morning when I turn my computer on, and go to the internet, all that pops up for news is political stuff--probably because I have been watching a lot of it lately. Anyway, there was nothing on my screen about the fire in NJ so I had to look it up. Gosh I hope they stay far away from you and Dolores Kids. I did see some residents of an area were able to return but still so many evacuated. Will send some prayers!

Maryz... I need to make a total of 64 patches before May 15th or so. They award these patches to the participants of a 3 high school Invitational Trap Shooting Team--which Brennen was in when he was in high school. Kris help them set up the "booster club" as a 501.3c Non Profit so I "donate" my time and only get reimbursed for supplies. The kids really like getting the patches and I'll do just about anything for kids. What a cool idea to send a book and video for Amara!! Just think.... a mere 6 months and you will be getting ready to hit the road to head south again. Hope all goes well with Bill's appointment today!

Judi.... Sure beats me how you can be up so early with Banana bread in the oven already!! I'm just lucky I'm dressed!!! Tho I did make my bed   Is Cheyeanne coming to visit this summer?

Flo... Hope your family in NJ is all over and can stay in their homes. This sure has been an awful year for fires.

Chriss.... Ok I downloaded that app, Now I just have to figure out how to use it!  I usually just buy Deli-ham and make that work for anything but I left overs from Easter dinner. Last night I took the pepperoni off and frozen personal size pizza and added ham and pineapple--(put the pepperoni on my salad) Worked out pretty good. I don't buy much pork either buy once in a while will grab a small pork tenderloin and throw it in the crock pot--with a little BBQ sauce it's nummy.

Valerie..... OH I remember Sue Thorson... I don't think she lived to far from me. Don't you wonder sometimes what happened to all the folks we've lost along the way. Do you remember IOWAGAL? I know she passed away. I see Izzy on Facebook a lot. When I type my message here I'm on my laptop.

Lori.... Doesn't it feel good to get back to sewing again! Sometimes I think I'm ready for a break from it ---I sew every day--but then I don't know what I'd do all day if I didn't sew. Hard for me to sit still to just oh say read a book or something. And from the pile of UFO's I have--there's always something to do!

So yesterday I took a load of baby stuff over to Bundles of Love to drop off and pick up some more little projects to work on--no rush. Brought lunch to Shawn as his office just happens to be in the same building. Came home and got all 6 quilts trimmed and a few bindings made. Today, while the embroidery machine runs non stop I'll attach the bindings then put them in a pile for hand stitching unless I decide to stitch them by machine. Truthfully I do enjoy the hand stitching process--good TV project!

Time for a coffee refill...If you need me you know where I'll be! Later on, if I remember, I'll post pictures of all the quilts!

Have a most wonderful Wednesday

Good morning. Gosh darn it's a beautiful day. I love this weather.

The plan today may or may not be to go into town and get a new strap for my weed whacker. It arrived yesterday and I promptly plugged in the batteries. what a game changer. I was able to get an easy fourth of the whacking done, non stop. The goal is to have the job complete by the middle of May. I'll get there.

Valerie, Woo hoo for those 5+ hours of sleep. I think the reason my chair worked best for me was the arms, it limited my movement, I had to be on my back and couldn't roll over, so I didn't feel the mask on my face. Marilyn used to take Melatonin and Varian Root for sleep. Don't give up, I pray that cpap machine is as much of a help to you as it is to me. I don't have one of those chevron's on my screen. I use Edge, perhaps it's because we use different formats?

Lori, I bet, before you are done going through your closets and your dad's house that you and the people at Good Will will be on a first name basis. What was in your crock pot yesterday?

Lyn, Funny how many routes there are to get to the destination you want. I wish Google maps didn't exist, for me they just take me everywhere the long way. I like Apple Maps and dad likes Waze. Glad you weren't sitting idle in your travels, that would have been frustrating.

Lois, prayers said for your family in NJ. Dad fixed my icemaker, seems that the calcium had built up not allowing the water to flow, but now I have way more ice that a person can use. Hope those new glasses are perfect for you

Maryz, I guess one way to empty the freezer is to not go grocery shopping. I also wouldn't venture out for one item. Very cool book reading idea for Amara. Is she signed up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library? I was able to sign Elliott up because my county participates in the program, he gets a book each month until he turns 5 years old. I kind of remember Joyce with horses. but not too well. There was a girl, hummingbird?, who made soaps or lotions I think. A long time ago there was a big blow up and some went one way and others stayed here. I was thankful that it all happened while I was at work and I didn't get involved. Can't remember the spelling of the person who sort of was the instigator, Tupjle or something like that? Lots of crazies have come and gone but only the craziest remain.

Judi, I think, because of your tuna salad idea, that I will go into town and get some celery and finally make my tuna salad. Guess I had best boil a few eggs too. I love tuna salad, not sure which soup you should have, maybe something creamy, I love creamy soups.

Jana, yes, you are right, it was Leah. She always made me smile. I also love an overcast day, makes for a nice cool time in the yard. Today we have a bit of a breeze blowing, which might just be the excuse I need to not work outside, my allergies aren't liking the weeding, but it needs to be done and I am able.

Maryq, I didn't know Iowagirl had died. There are others that I wonder about. that was a lot of years ago. To make your action figure google barbie box challenge, it will help you with the wording, you also need a picture of yourself to upload.

Last night I didn't have my chicken strips so that will be on tonight's menu. I think I need to get dressed, have breakfast and go into town now so I can have the rest of the day to get some stray chores done.

You all have a fab day

maryq I am up early and usually I have to start doing something first thing or it doesnt get done...I am up between 530 and 6 and try to get all my chores done by 10 or so...I also like to go to the stores by 8 if they are opened,,,our dairy store opens at 10 and the meat market opens at 9 so I get what I can done by then. lately I have been ordering my groceries and just have to go and pick up my order...i could have them delivered but then I might not leave the house and I do need to get out. xxxooo++
