Good morning!

It's quite lovely outside and we'll get nicely warm too. It could be a great do nothing day. We'll see.... I'd hear the birdies chirp and sing , except for a few noisy dogs barking!

But the Batt Cave needs tackling. Didn't get down there yesterday. A long time ago, we rewrote the words to Mary had a little lamb - they go like this, in our house, Matthew has a little room. It's floor was dirty as soot. And everywhere that Matthew went, he could not put his foot. Well that's the best description of the Batt Cave. Just change the name to protect the guilty! 😀 it will finally be the great toy purge. Then maybe I can sew a little. I'll stage all the donations in a contained area until they kids can haul it upstairs to my car. I am also backup to drive Sandee over to the bank.

Kari changed jobs back in December and the new company fibbed on what she'd be doing, so she contacted he old boss and friend and has gone back to work at her old company, with a pay raise.

Well that's about it from here. Maybe the norm of quiet and boring is back! I doubt it, but it's worth a thought,

Hugs,
Jana

On the Road Again. Looks like good weather for today.

I got quite a bit done yesterday. I have trouble sleeping before a trip, so between midnight and 1, I arranged a little in the Cabin. It will make me happy to look on the security camera and see that I made a little progress.

Have last items to load and we'll be on the road to Texarkana.

Sew something for me. Have a great day.

Good morning,

LOIS - sorry your Bill needs a 'scope'. My Bill is having PT today for his achy breaky hip and then tomorrow an ultra sound for a suspected lump near his thyroid. I'll pray for your Bill if you pray for mine.

VAL - so what did you think of the CPAP? More and more people are using them. I joined QIAD July 7, 2008. I'm trying to remember Scrappie but so far - no bells. To retrieve lost posts you have to hit ctrl/z immediately. Or no more than one or two typed letters following the lost post. Any more than that it won't work.

LORI - Is there lawn at your dad's house? Do you mow it or have a lawn service come in? Do you have any siblings or other relatives who can help with the house? (would you want them to?) My Bill would be the purrfect match for your Bill and for Lyn's Garry. He's kind of quiet, doesn't have a lot of stories, and is a good listener (to other men's stories, at least). And after spending a week camping with Tex the Talker, Bill's a pro at listening!

CHRISS - The only person I can remember from England is Jules who did indeed almost die of Covid, but survived. She is on FB though has quit our forum. And you sucked me in! I ended up doing laundry yesterday, too. I washed 3 loads and I don't know now they came to be since I did laundry on Friday afternoon after returning from camping. Bill was washing the RV so I couldn't use the clothesline which is in direct line of fire of the hose. And yes, hitting the X will close your tab but check that little caret at the top left - your recently closed tabs are there and you can reopen them.

MARY Q - How many patches are done now? Do you do each one completely before moving on to the next or do you do - like - all the yellow on several, then move on to all the green then blue, and such - assembly line stitching, I guess you would call it. And a caret is also on the 6 key. And I use the right and left carets for whiskers on my little signature kitty. And the caret to recall closed tabs is above the back arrow at the very top left corner of your screen.

JANA - Good luck to Keri in her new old job. I was going to ask if she'd ever changed jobs. When I was little I had a pet lamb named Susie. My sister was jealous that she didn't have a song, too, so my mom also changed the words to Mary Had a Little Lamb to "Teesie had a little dog and it was black as coal". Thanks for the explanations of wards, stakes, etc. I've always wondered. How big is the choir that you direct? Funny that you can't read music but you can direct the choir. I was thinking your college degree was in music. Ours is simply a parish. Most parishes have two or three Masses on Sunday, often one Mass will be on Saturday evening. And we can attend any Mass in any parish we like. Our parish is St. Nicholas. Alter boys assist the priest with Mass. But for daily Masses or for Masses said in places like quonset huts in the Alaskan bush, there are no alter boys so my brother, Gene, steps in. He was an alter boy as a kid and now is the oldest, serving alter boy in Alaska, perhaps in the entire U.S.

LYN - wishing you safe travels today. How far is Texarkana? Neither of us sleep well either the night before we leave on a trip, especially long trips. Nice to have a farewell lunch with your friends and their son.

JUDI - how was Easter Sunday at your son's? How much of your clan was there? I'm sure you all had a great time! Are you back in the sewing room today? We hear ya on painting! I want my kitchen and 25-foot stairwell painted. If I ever get around to it, I'm calling a painter! Hope you get to see Liam today.

Yesterday was laundry. It was all done on Friday but Bill had a load of work clothes, there was a big tablecloth, bath towels, and "darks". Anyway, it's all caught up now. Again. Then I couldn't stand it any longer, so I emptied the big storage closet in our office and cleaned it. By the time I was done, it really didn't look any different. Sigh. In there we have office supplies, pet food and pet food containers, gift boxes, wrap, ribbon, bows, brief cases, extra picture frames, and vacuum attachments. This was actually a stall tactic because I've come up against the borders in my NYB. I copied all the border patterns onto foundation papers. This pattern doesn't have very clear instructions. I guess they are written in "Australian", where the designer lives. So I am feeling my way on these four borders. The first border is just 1/4" and is meant to kind of separate the light and medium fabrics in the blocks from the other borders and is to be sewn directly to the quilt. However, the FINISHED border is 1/4" but the book says to cut 1-1/2" strips for that border. Now, with 1/4" seams, which it says to use, that doesn't compute, does it? I don't think Australian math is different from American math, is it? This is the part that is confusing me. Other parts are, too, but I haven't gotten that far yet. The next three borders are sewn to each other before attaching to the quilt, mitering the corners. The measurements are crucial or the rest of the borders won't fit. I think the wider strips are meant to give me "wiggle room" in case my pieced borders don't fit and I'm supposed to trim them later?? Like I said - I'm feeling my way. There are a lot of corrections for this pattern posted on their website but none addressing this issue. Maybe I'll go spend the afternoon in my side yard which might help me to reboot myself.

Anyhoo - I'm going to dive into borders today, and see what kind of trouble I can get into. Supper plans are thin pork chops with piccata sauce, saute'd broccoli, and salad.

Have a super duper day! And forget the bobbins - I pray there are no confusing directions to block your way today!

Good Morning Girls

Cloudy morning, but apparently, per a weather app on my phone the sun is supposed to make an appearance around noon!

Lois...Ah yes, allergy season! Do you have meds for it? I've never thought I had allergies, but Kris gave me some Flonase to use at night--thinking that it would help keep my nasal passages open to breathe better. So far it seems to be working! I suppose you have a medicine cabinet of things to use.

Judi... Man you've gotten a lot done in the wee small hours of the morning! I'm with you, I'll never paint again! I am oh so grateful that Kris painted my entire house before I moved in here. So you are pre quilting blocks and then doing embroidery on top of that? I bet that looks really cool!

Jana.... When I was a kid, my room (that I shared with my sister) would get pretty messy. My Dad would put a big sign on it "Disaster Area. Authorized Personal Only" ---it seems to be pretty appropriate for my sewing room almost every day!

Lyn.... Sending prayers to St. Christopher for safe and easy travels today!! Are you all locked up in Texas and on your way to Colorado?

Maryz.... 27 patches done 37 to go! I can only do one at a time. They take 28 minutes to stitch out and require 5 different colors. If I had a bigger hoop I could probably do 2 at a time, but with only 4" hoop it's one at a time. Will send some prayers for your Bill that the little lump is nothing. Your office closet sounds like my furnace room closet--- a lot of misc stuff shoved in to keep it hidden and out of the way. It was going to be a winter project to clean it out, but now it will a rainy day summer project. Crossing my fingers that your borders turn out ok!! :D

Valerie... Boy I sure don't see that ^ anywhere on my screen. I'll get my grandkids to come over and help me!!!  I peeked in at photo's for just a seconds this morning and your quilt for Xavier is amazing!! I bet he will be so happy to have that to snuggle up with!!

Chriss.. I checked out that ChatCPT app thing and I'm not sure I want to download another app. I get so nervous about those things. I have Facebook and I think Instagram, but not interested in Tik Tok or Snap Chat. Since China owns a majority of Tik Tok, I think I'll avoid that for a while. I ended up cooking the ham lefts overs with a can of pineapple for supper last night-- I do love Pineapple and Ham. Still some left -- I think I might throw on a cheese pizza I have in the freezer!

Lori.... As I was watching the news the other day, they were already talking about the new Pope. Some suggested a Cardinal from Africa. Have you seen the movie "Conclave" ? I watched the whole thing up to the shocking ending. Prayers for your Bill too.

So my sweet Evie stopped by yesterday--always such a treat. She dropped off SIX quilts that Viv had quilted for. I couldn't even remember which ones she had. So you know who will be in "binding hell" for the next few weeks. I will need to get them all trimmed up and bindings made---some day this week!!

For now I'm getting myself ready to go deliver things to the Bundles of Love office--in the same building as Shawn's office so I will bring him lunch and just stop by a few minutes. Then I'll head home and fire up the embroidery machine and get busy with patches!!

Oh guess what... my coffee is cold!!! Time for a refill

Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday!

Chriss, I think it was Leah from Canada that was Scrappie66. And yes she died in September 2017 from stomach cancer.

Maryq, I haven't watched Conclave, but I do know about the process.

I need to walk the boys. I'll be back later.

Good morning. It's going to be another great day today. It should reach 80* but be in the high 60's mid 70's for the next ten days. Saturday they are threatening rain. I was considering uncovering the compressor so I could have the a/c ready but will wait. A few over warmed days do not make summer.

My weed eater should be here today, I will be glad to see it arrive. I still have a lot to do. But I am enjoying the work.

I found them, all of them. The dust bunnies are all here under my bed. My goodness, I have swept under that bed more than once, and yesterday while making the bed I was on my knees and looked and yep, there they all are. I have even used the shop vac under that bed. Guess dust bunnies know how to avoid capture.

Not sure what I will come up with for my day today. There is no laundry needing to be done. Yesterday I hung everything except my undies and socks on the line. One load was almost dry as I hung the next one on the line.

When I hung up the things in my closet I hooked all hangers from the back of the rod. As I wear clothes and rehang them up I will turn the hangers around. Anything with a hanger going the wrong direction at the end of the season will go to the thrift store.

Lori, I forgot about the breezeway fan. I also do the indoor ceiling fans regularly but also have oscillating fans and they get forgotten about. Glad you found your paperwork. Your dad must have been organized. Enjoy the gardening, It's nice to work outside in this beautiful weather.

Valerie, hope that adrenal mass shrunk or disappeared. It took me a while to get used to sleeping with a cpap but it is a wonderful invention. I no longer wake up in the middle of the night. To get used to it I slept for a week or so in my recliner to limit my movement. I was taking it off during the night without knowing it. Now I won't go to sleep without it.

Lois, glad your house is no longer crooked now that you have it all straightened out. And I hope Bill's scope shows what is going on. Aren't how to videos the best.

Judi, I think pizza will lure Liam. I also look around that am not going to do any painting here either. I have vaulted ceilings. happy sewing.

Jana, awww, the great toy purge. I bet the thrift store, or whoever gets the old toys, will be thrilled.

Lyn, happy traveling.

Maryz, when is the last time you used a briefcase? I have a theory. Bill gave you that pattern to drive you nuts. Sorry it's overworking your thinker. There was another person from England, or maybe Canada? She was SS the year she died and Lyn stepped in to fill her spot. I think she had been sent a quilt from El's Angels and was buried with it according to her brother who I also think Lyn was able to contact. I think she was also your SS too. Anyway, sorry about the laundry jobs I added to your list, but we don't have to even glance at the washer today. I don't have a caret on my screen, guess you are special.

Maryq, I loaded that app to make the action figure. It's in the app store so you are loading it from a safe place. I also don't do snapchat or tick tock. I do have instagram but rarely open it. I love ham, or any pork, with pineapple and bbq sauce. But I haven't eaten pork in years, not sure why.

Lori, yes, Leah, that was her name. happy walking, wish I could go with you.

Dinner last night was enchiladas without tortilla's. Kind of a casserole thing. This morning it will be fried up with some fried eggs. I love things like enchiladas but hate cleaning the pans because of the cheese. I have chicken tenders thawed for tonight, perhaps they will go in the air fryer with some lemon pepper.

Time for breakfast, Maybe I will work outside for a while. I need to make the wells around my trees a little deeper, but probably need to wet the rock hard ground first. I'd also like to clean the inside of my car.

You girls have a marvy day

Good morning everyone. Not much on the list today. Post office to mail Xavier's present and a few things at the grocer. Yesterday I got the back bedroom all straightened up and reorganized. Moved my large totes into the sewing machine room. WE will see how this set up works. Also got the vacuuming done.

The CPAP did not go so well. I have a hard time falling asleep and then when I did eventually fall asleep, after about 30 min or so I suddenly woke up. Felt claustrophobic and took the mask off. Left it off the rest of the night. I will have to try better tonight. This is a CPAP that is diagnostic and I am supposed to wear it minimum of 4 hours at least 6 nights a week. I will do my best.

56* now and supposed to get to 70* or so. It has been getting warmer than they say so I am guessing it may gegt to 75. Possible rain on Saturday.

Chriss I tried sleeping in Dad's old bed because the head and feet go up and down. I will try it again tonight but put the head up more. That's an interesting idea to decide which to send to thrift shop or not. I have a box started and have thrown a few things in. I had forgotten about the adrenal mass. I think it's a non issue.

I copied this from a post under Christmas cards post in July 2007."My forum name is scrappie66 and I live in West Central very rural Minnesota. My husband and I moved here from sunny southern California 2 years ago to be closer to our seven grandchildren. Have not regretted a minute of it. Again, I hope you all had the happiest of Holidays and I wish for you all a fruitful New Year. :>) Always in stitches...Susan Thorson"

There was a girl who either moved from England to Scotland or vis versa. She and her DH got divorced and then she remarried another person. Can't think of her name.

Maryq let me see if I can take a picture, are you on your phone or laptop. It doesn't show on my phone. I don't do TikToc and Snap Chat either. I think those are more for the younger group.

Maryz next time I mess up I will try that. I think the other process might work better though.

Lyn safe travels.

Judi I was amazed you were painting. I don't do that and I am younger than you. Of course when I was growing up my Dad would never let me paint the walls. He said I didn't do it right.

Lois all I have to say is Good Luck with that ruler. I may try it again sometime in the future but for now, it can be packed away.

Anyway, need to get cleaned up, hairs brushed and out the door to post office and store. Have a great day everyone.

I'm back

Chriss, I threw away 10 t-shirts the other day. I get little holes in them at my pants belt buckle. I think because I'm short, it hits the counters and creates holes. It makes me crazy. I did order new ones, but only 5. I need to go through the rest of the closet soon. I have bags of clothes up at dad's to take to Goodwill and there is still another closet full I haven't gone through.

Valerie, we have an adjustable bed. We keep the head just slightly up. It's great for reading before bed. I put up the head and feet.

Maryq, how nice of Evie to stop by and bring quilts.

Maryz, yes there is lawn at dad's. We have a gardener that does a lot, but I like working in the yard and it's a big on with lots of plants. I forgot the name of your pattern. I saw one with a curvy spiky border that looked pretty crazy, but if it's pp it shouldn't be too bad. I say this because I'm not making it. When I start a new pattern, I always look for ways to make it easier. Don't know if that's possible for you.

Lyn, safe travels. Nice that you can check on the cabin.

Jana, glad Kari was able to return to her old job. I laughed at your quiet and boring comment. With your family, that will never be.

Judi, I bet you are glad to be done the the painting. I've eliminated most knick knacks from my house. I got tired of moving them to dust.

Lois, hope your allergies aren't too bad. My son in TX said it's really bad there. He lives on 3 acres with lots of trees. A sunflower quilt sounds fun.

I'm going to make some cookies this morning. I keep putting it off. Also I want to get dinner in the crock pot. I need to find a few more things for my appointment tomorrow. I worked on quilting a quilt yesterday and want to finish it up today if I get time. I'm finally getting back into sewing again. It's been a while.

Have a lovely day.
