EASTER SUNDAY - April 20th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Apr 20, 2025 6:10 am

Happy Easter, Everyone!

Wishing you all a blessed day no matter how you are celebrating this holy season.

LYN - Your mixed variety of talents continues to amaze me! Baking and changing hydraulic hoses! All in the same day! Thanks for the recipe. I will give it a try one of these days. And there is no real article about CHICKIE in Block magazine - just a lengthy caption about how she makes a lot of tablerunners at Christmas for all the women in the family and baby quilts for all the littles. This year BLOCK is sharing quilt/project photos submitted by readers in every issue.

LORI - Your quilt is a beauty. Love the name of it - "Shooting Stars". And good golly, but Miss Molly is the purrfect quilt model! And yep, the kids have had nothing but problems with this house. Just some of the biggies are gas hooked up improperly and dangerously, plumbing flooded the house, and now mold. It's as bad as the last house they lived in where the hot water heaters (2) didn't work, the roof was disintegrating, and they found tree roots growing out of the toilet among other things. They are moving to a townhouse in June and crossing their fingers.

JANA - thanks for that recipe. I have a similar one, though I haven't made a cheesecake in a very long time. We prefer the graham cracker crust, though, when I do make it.

CHRISS - a conveyer belt for loading/unloading RV's! Genius! Would sure save me a lot of steps! Sorry your kids are having problems. Especially problems that keep Gramma away. Waist high weeds are some big weeds! Toss some vinegar on them, too. I don't think weeds like vinegar. Will you spend time with your parents today?

VAL - sorry you haven't been feeling too swell. Hope Easter brings you renewed good health. I don't remember a Susan Thorson, though I might recall her forum name. To be honest, I'd forgotten we used to do Secret Pal until you mentioned it. Postage is just too high any more. In fact, first class is going up again to 78 cents in July. How is your Mariners Compass coming along?

MARY Q - Oops! Newly discovered UFO's? I need to take inventory of those, too. They are all together in one place, but I should take a count, I guess, and see what's what. I usually keep everything up to date, but swaps and lotto wins kind of put me behind, plus the projects I made last winter still need quilting. Though, if it's just quilting they need, shouldn't they be Bill's UFOs?? Ahh... the birds are singing you a happy good morning song! We have them, too, plus the neighbor's rooststers. It's a good thing I like getting up early!! And the pickle roll ups - I forgot about the thinly sliced ham! Thanks! A large flour tortilla spread with cream cheese and rolled with ham and dill pickle spears, then sliced. I haven't made those in lots of years. You are so nice to make those patches again. How long will it take you to make 65 of them? Do you complete each patch one at a time or do you work on several at a time to minimize thread changes?

TINA - that dirt must be awful. I can't imagine it nor can I imagine ever being able to truly clean it up. Do you use any kind of air purifiers and if so, do they help or would they just get clogged? I know you will enjoy your day today at Kevin's house. Will your whole family be there? Dad, too?

LOIS - what is your main dish going to be? How many folks are coming to dinner? You're making me think about making an old fashioned macaroni salad to go along with our pizza and tossed green salad.

JANA - are Sarah and Joseph driving back today? All in one day? It's roughly 700 miles isn't it? At least it's a good, easy traveling route most of the way. Will they get home in time for dinner.

JUDI - you are off to your son's today. Do you know what's for dinner? Did you get that piping block finished?

FLO - Do you have big Easter plans with family today?

Yesterday was a sewing day. And my bobbin ran out!! :o I did get my last two NYB blocks finished and most of the quilt assembled. I just have two more rows of blocks to add, then very thin (1/4") border before tackling the large, scalloped FPP border. I hope to get those blocks added today. I've been studying the border pattern and it looks so confusing. But I'm not going to let this bugaboo of a pattern stump me now! But first - I've got food to prep for tonite - pizzas, salads, and dessert. The boys won't be here until 6pm~ish. The house is in OK shape though I should wipe down the bathroom and sweep the kitchen floor - but not until after I do the food. Then if time is left - I'll head for the sewing room.

Did anyone here color eggs? I think this is the first year I never even gave it a thought until this moment. The grandsons are 31 and almost 28. I don't think they will miss them. Their "Easter basket" will be a bottle of wine for each of them to take home.

Have a joyous day!

Good morning and happy Easter the holiest of days for Christians everywhere. I spent the entire day in the sewing room yesterday and finished the piping block. It isnt what I rememebr but I have to do it twice and gave up the fancy details...after all the quilt is for me. i wont judge, I did make supper and spent a good deal of time trying to find the quarter inch foot for my babylock...I really liked that foot and it seems to have diappesred. I checked even under the sewing table ( yes I moved it and it was no easy task) got it back in place and continured to month 11. i know in my heart that if I buy a new one it will turn up...I liked that foot. so i had to set the bbylock up for 1/4 in seam by hand, I was tired by them and started the next block which has chenille for the flower stems sewn on a prequilted backround, No chenille tape ( I think I gave it to my sister and she used it up) cut and fused the flowers and got ready to stitch them down and I completely forgot to prequilt the block...I went to bed,,,,will try again another time...
Today I will make apple crisp for dinner at my oldest sons house...and then get ready to go...I will get to see Navy today and found her a really cute purse with a tea set inside...among a few other Easter goodies...I didnt buy candy because my grandaughter has some pretty strick rules about dyes and sugar,,,so I stay on the safe side...I bought Bunny bubbles...she loves bubbles. and some stickers,,she also loves..
Well i need to do some hair combing and get dressed...hope you have a great day,,,we dont dress up for Easter but I try ti look decents LOL
tHose of you who are making cheese cake,,without baking, My mom made this for years it had jello and cream cheese, and dream whip ( can you still buy it?) And she used graham crackers too... I have a deicious recipe by Martha Stewart for key lime pie cheese cake,,,it is so good but so labor intensive,,,I make it when we can get real key limes..the are about the sixe of large grapes and need to be zested..and juiced...I think we did 32 key limes...whick was enough to 2 cheese cakes made in a spring form pan. It was so good I cannot get real key limes and i guess it is good with the green limes found in the grocery store but we like real key limes..
i check with the big box stores for key limes when ever i rememebr,,,We didnt bring any home from flroida this year either,,,
Have a wonderful day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hi y'all!

A beautiful Easter morning. Saw the sun come up over the purple east, yes, He is risen! What a glorious gift, given to each and everyone on this Easter morn!

Church is a bit later this morning for us. We're singing a couple of new bed hymns and a loved one too. Ethan is still here and will go with us to our Ward.

Sarah and Joseph are already on their way home from California and should be here around dinnertime. Yes, they are driving straight through. Sarah has requested that I dish up their plates and set them aside, just to be sure they get dinner. The funeral service yesterday was on Zoom, so we were able to watch it. Saw many of our old friends from the Ward we lived in there, for 37 years. The camera was in a fixed position, but as we watched, the friends stepped into view. Many I didn't recognize as we have all gotten older. White hair throws me for a loop! I kept asking Mr G if I looked that old? I don't think I do, but?................ Sarah got lots of hugs for us. I'm really not that old, in my own brain, but of my friends in that Ward, I'm the only one that's not a widow. We are all near the same age, so old is getting there!

Dinner is in the final stages. The plan is being executed. Table number one, the grown-ups is all set. The littles table will be done this afternoon . Windy outside at the moment, so that table may be moved to inside. At least it's dry and no snow for the egg hunt. The plastic eggs have a piece of candy and some with money. Then there's the grand prize egg - a slip of paper that says - bunny. It's a small robotic bunny. It's really cute, squeaks and hops about. The little girls will all want it, but we're not telling them, until one little or big, finds that egg. Ethan knows, but he won't tell.

Time to get ready,

Happy Easter!

Hugs,
Jana

A Blest Easter to everyone.

MaryZ, I had watched a video about the changes to the Block magazine, sounds like it is more interesting than before.

Valerie, Hope you are feeling better.

Jana, Safe travels to your kids.

Judi, I bet Navy will have fun with her purse and tea set.

Lois, Enjoy your company, how many will be at your table?

Chriss, I'm sorry your kids are having problems. Hope you get to see Elliott soon.

Lori, Your quilt is very nice. Miss Molly must be well cared for to have reached 20 yrs.

MaryQ, I posted the Cheesecake recipe I'm using, last evening. No fancy pan.

Tina, I'm sorry you are living in a dust bowl these days. All that cleaning is taking away from your sewing time.

Flo, You are so nice to help out this young family. I bet they really appreciate you and Joe.

We had a storm come through about 5 a.m. and my modem isn't working now. I called to see if there's an outage, but there isn't. This is a big problem. I need the Wi-Fi working so I can keep track of things when we are gone, cameras and thermostats. Apparently while I was typing this, everything is back on line. Yeah!

We are going to our friends for lunch. I better do what I can before hand. My list is still long.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Lyn

Good morning peeps. Get it? peeps, it's Easter. And time for my annual Easter joke. What is invisible and smells like carrots? Bunny farts.

Yesterday I cleaned the parents house, got my car washed and filled with gas. Today will be yard work and an audio book in my ears.

The local college has a mascot, the Blue Devils. it got me thinking. They removed mascots that were Native American Warriors like the Braves, Cheif's etc. But they are keeping the devil. Pretty sad

Last night I figured out how to make one of those action figure things of myself that I had been seeing posted. It's on my FB page. Anyway, it's called the Barbie Box Challenge. It was fun but I thought I was skinnier than it came out. Guess it's time for me to drop a few more pounds and have a redo. Even when I was fat I never saw myself as fat as I really was.

Lori, I think sourdough walnut cranberry bread sounds wonderful, I bet it makes a heavenly turkey sandwich. I love your quilt, it's really pretty.

Maryz no egg coloring here. but colored eggs do remind me of colorful potato salad that came after Easter. I had forgotten about those tortilla roll up things. Mine was chive cream cheese, ham, spinach, red onion and swiss cheese. They were sliced in rounds. Dad always was happy to eat the cut off ends. I think, if I were to put vinegar on the weeds, I'd need a vinager factory. We have to clear 100 feet around all structures for fire clearance. And the fire department does come and check. Enjoy Easter with the boys, did you ever think you'd be buying your grandkids wine?

Judi, crazy how things disappear then reappear when you buy a new one. I had the same 1/4 inch foot trouble, bought a two pack from amazon and poof, found the first one, now I have 3. Smooch Navy for me.

Jana, Your kids are smart. If I was driving home from anywhere I'd also be home by dinner. ha ha Your egg hunts remind me of ours when I was a kid. There were three grandkids finding eggs and it seemed my sister always found the egg with the grand prize, my cousin and I each got the much smaller prize. Other than the plastic grand prize egg everything was hard boiled and dyed, so the smaller prizes were just consolation prizes.

Valerie, happy Easter.

Lyn, phew, glad the wifi is back. Enjoy your lunch with friends.

I need to get dressed, have breakfast and get to those weeds. But first, I will open up all the windows in the house. It's going to be a beautiful day. No clue what dinner will be, yesterday was crockpot granola with almond milk.

Hope you have a great Easter.

Happy Easter Peeps.

Hope you all are enjoying fun times with your family.

Chriss, I saw your action figure. Very cute. I thought it should be thinner and taller. Hope you get all those weeds wacked. I see you used the Peeps too. Twins.

Lyn, I'm glad your WiFi came back on. I hope dropping the signal won't be a problem for you.

Jana, it's funny how we see older people and think that we couldn't possibly be that old. Bill does that a lot and he looks old. His hair has been white for years. Glad the kids are on their way home.

Valerie, what are you up to today? Did you get a lot done in sewing yesterday?

Judi, the foot will show up. Maybe after walking away for a bit it will just pop out at you. Have a fun day with the kiddos.

Maryz, Oh no! Empty bobbin! It happened to me yesterday as well when I was quilting the Star quilt. I think the boys will like the wine better than colored eggs.

We took the boys to the park and walked this morning. There were lots of people set up for family gatherings. The walkway wasn't very busy though. Came home and I made myself some breakfast. Bill went out to breakfast early with Shane. I'm going up to dad's to look for a few things. Then I'll finish quilting up a smaller wall hanging. I started it yesterday. It's going to be a beautiful 75* and sunny. Door and windows are open. The Cub game is delayed due to weather, so hopefully it will be on in a bit.
Don't know what's for dinner yet, but I do have choices.

Have a lovely day.

Thought I'd share this short video with you. It was done by the church for Holy Week. The children throughput all the Primaries in the church all love this hymn /song. A side note, In Aaron's Ward the children were to sing this as part of the Easter Program. The Bishop changed during the service and asked the entire congregation to sing this hymn with the children. We all know it. The Bishop asked the children to sing it out loudly. They did. Especially my Gracie and Lila. They have beautiful little voices and as they sang, the people around them were brought to tears hearing these two little girls sing from their heart. It was a very moving moment. So, I thought to share this video with you.
