Re: Tuesday April 15th Its tax day
We had a cool front come thru, so today will only be in the 80's.
I mailed the taxes, so those of you who get some back, Uncle Sam has more to give out. lol I got all the paperwork ready for an appt this afternoon at Parks & Wildlife in Austin. I did get into the Cabin long enough to get what I could onto the shelves. There's some bags that have kits in them, that were stored in the barn door cabinet which isn't unloaded yet. If I get it all in the Cabin, I will be happy and organized will come later.
I'm up early, for me, I want to weed eat around the Cabin before the guy comes tomorrow to skirt. We have to be on the road by 11 to make the appt which is over an hour away.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Lyn

Morning
Yesterday was dreaded colonoscopy..2 days without coffee! I could have had black coffee, but that's yucky...Joe had to deal with a grouchy Flo.
Saturday, the young family we are mentoring, needed help on house they are building. Currently the 7 of them are living in a 20 foot camping trailer. They are rehab-ing an old old small house. So, Saturday we took a shed. Moved to to back door, put it on a block foundation so it will be a laundry room. This kind of add on is normal out here.
Today is all stuff that didn't get done last 3 days..bur I have COFFEE.

Re: Tuesday April 15th Its tax day
Good morning,
Tina, what a huge project, catching and relocating all your fish and turtles and water. Then what will you do with the big hole in the ground? Maybe all the dirt you sweep up from the wind can be dumped in there
Chris, there is always a chore list at our house. Probably in every household. I always think “when all the chores are done. I can do whatever I want.” But I don’t think in all my life the chores have ever truly been done.
Lynn, seems like God did quite a bit of laughing yesterday and He pretty hard with that fence problem. But once again you rose to the occasion. I am excited for you to finally get the skirting and steps on your cabin. Will it be all completed then? Glad the taxes are in the mail. I don’t think I know anyone getting a refund this year. We had to pay more than we ever have before.
Flo, glad the colonoscopy is “behind you”. You are right-no coffee is the worst. Though I can drink it black if I really have to. I don’t like it but it’s better than no coffee. I like mine with one and a half spoons of powdered coffeemate. No fancy flavors, no sugar. And just this moment, a fresh cup was set beside me. Ahhh….
Jana, hooray for Quilty hugs! You probably needed one even more than Michael. Hope you enjoy your BIL’s visit. We have a Tanner James in our family too - my brother Jim’s youngest grandson. He is about 18 I think.
Will the painting be all done today? Y’all are really starting to put me in the mood to do some at our house too.
Lois, did you get your curtains swapped? Are you putting up new curtains? Seasonal swap?
Mary Q- you must have been busy yesterday working on that wedding quilt!
I received a PM from Becca. She has some cardiac and respiratory issues going on and could probably use a prayer. She asked me to tell y’all hi and she hopes one day to feel well enough to be back.
And I also got a text from Irish! The big news at her house is a friend left a kitty with her. A black-and-white kitty which is, as we all know, the best of kitties. And this kitty turned out to be a mama cat who had 6 babies. They are just to the eye opening stage. I already dibs the black and white one and mama cat too, though Irish says I will probably have to fight her for mama. If you want in on this free kitty deal, you know who to contact!
Yesterday was perfect weather here. T-shirt and shorts on the beach. We took Scotty and walked the beach for quite a while. Last night, we grilled chicken and had rice and salad on the side.
Not sure what we are doing today. Maybe driving 40 miles south to Tillamook. The big cheese factory is there, an air museum, and a wonderful quilt Shop. I did sew for a little while and finished number two of the 4 NYB center blocks and got a short start on Number three. I also got a lot of embroidery done as we sat outside all afternoon in the shade. Tex sat with us. Tex is a talker which is why I got so much embroidery done. I was planning a baby quilt for my walking buddy’s new grandbaby but she miscarried over the weekend. They are heartbroken. But determined to try again. So my baby quilt is on hold for now.
Thinking about supper. My outdoor cook seems to not want to cook breakfasts this trip. So maybe, since I brought so much breakfast food, we’ll have that for supper - bacon, eggs, hashbrowns. Yum! My favorite meal.
Have a terrific Tuesday!

Re: Tuesday April 15th Its tax day
Good morning everyone
Man oh man did I ever sleep last night! I was sooooooo tired! Ready for the new day today.
Judi, I have trouble with high things too but I'm a couple inches taller than you.....the Dr asked me the other day how tall I am LOL I couldn't remember if I'm 5'2" or 5'4"
I think I'm 5'4" on good days when I stand straight and tall.
Lyn, we're a little cooler today too, 85° is supposed to be our high today. Sadly tomorrow starts a 4 day wind fest. Are you getting metal, wood or vinyl skirting?
Flo, 7 people in a 20' travel trailer?! I bet that's crazy! We had a 20' trailer and we were bumping into each other....I hope they get into their house soon.
Maryz, we only had 4 goldfish left, a blue heron about wiped them all out last year. We had the 3 big turtles that went to a family, the mom was talking to them like they were little kids so I'm hoping they will be loved and taken care of. The rest of the pond and a baby turtle we found yesterday are going to a young couple with a 12 year old boy, the dad is coming this morning to take it away. Frankie said.... "maybe I could take a section of fence down and put a giant funnel there and fill the hole in with the blowing dirt".... LOL. It's going to be a big job filling it in, it's between 3 & 4' deep and it's 15' x 24' . He told me to call Kevin last night and tell him to come fill this hole in he dug 17 years ago....I called him and told him but he just laughed. I hope Becca is ok, thanks for letting us know.
Well I better get busy seeing what I can help do, it's going to be a busy morning for sure. My inside house needs attention too but I'll be stuck inside for the next 4 days so I'm going to enjoy outside while I can.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need

Re: Tuesday April 15th Its tax day
Good morning Girls
I Is up showered and dressed!! YEAH ME!! Just trying to decided which direction to go this morning ---- Lots to choose from. Was thinking I might go get some groceries, then you know how I feel about that!
Judi.... I agree, you should go get a Handicap permit! Do you have to get a whole set of licenses to put on the car or just a permit you hang on the rear view mirror? I've thought about asking my Dr too, but I'm not sure I'm ready to admit I need one just yet. There are people that need those handicap spaces much more than I do.
Lyn.... I'm sure the government thanks you for your contribution! Now that you are getting your cabin all set up, you will be hitting the road soon and won't see it for months!! That would make me so sad.
Flo... OMG .. 7 people in a 20ft camper!! YIKES!! Do you, in MO, generally have laundry rooms upstairs or out in the garage? I remember being in CA many years ago and thought it so odd that laundry was in the garage. Most homes, especially older ones, the laundry is in the basement. When my kids lived in Canada, the laundry was upstairs by the bedrooms, which made a LOT more sense!
Maryz.... I started typing a note yesterday, but hit the wrong X on my screen and lost it all. By that time I needed to get my butt up and get to work. Do you get to buy some cheese at the Tillamook factory? Even to kind of stock up? We get Tillamook here, but it's a bit pricier than the Target brand!!
I'd never heard of it until I saw it in Alaska. Better yet, do they give out free samples?
Tina.... You are filling in your pond?? Will you have to have loads of dirt hauled in to till it up?Every time I go to the dr, they measure me, I think I lose a couple centimeters every time!
(just went back to read yesterday's messages)
Chriss.... They took that part out of the Pledge?? I'm surprised they haven't take out "Under God" though that part wasn't in the original Pledge. I've heard there are some crazy rules for education in California--which doesn't actually surprise me considering your Governor.
Yesterday I did get the wedding quilt together, though now the fun part comes in getting it squared up, my table isn't quite big enough. Here's a sneak peek.
I'm hoping I have enough of the background fabric to put even a narrow border on. I doubt I have anything big enough for backing, so that might mean a trip to fabric warehouse. But since the wedding isn't until October, I have some time.
For now I need more coffee, then I'll spin around in a circle to see which direction I should go today. Maybe I'll start the next baby girl quilt.
Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Good morning!
Beautiful day here. Slightly cooler, but warm will be here this weekend. In time for the family Easter egg hunt at Sarah's house. No real eggs, just plastic ones. Filled with a piece of candy and some money. I found a reasonable priced chocolate bunny for the grands too. Dinner is at Sarah's too.
Sarah is taking Mr G to a pacemaker check. The Dr checks to make sure if's functioning correctly. That machine is up at the main hospital in SLC, so it's a trip uptown.
I'm staying home, getting things done here. Daniel is sneaking out of work early to get his uncle for our visit. Daniel's worksite is up in the area where our BIL is staying.
Tina - that's a big hole! Instead of filling it, turn it into a human swimming hole!
Well, time to hurry up Mr G.
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Tuesday April 15th Its tax day
Good morning ladies, I am back. It was not the vacation I had invisioned but it was a vacation. Had to spend lots of $ in boat repairs, my son's mother in law passed away so he had to leave, her funeral is today, and a gazillion other things but I need help in making a decision.
My granddaughter is dating (almost living with) a young man who has been in prison. For the most part, I am not opposed to that as people can and do change. I try to give people a chance until they show me I should not. I have asked my daughter several times why he was in prison and I always get "I don't know". I honestly don't believe her. I think they don't want me to know. So I searched the internet. This gentleman has told the family that there is video that shows he is inocent and so he was let out but is still on parole. My experience (not much) is, if you are found inocent while in prison, they let you go, clear your record and no parole. The actual situation is he had a child very young (15), the child was 7 months old, he slapped the child as the child was crying a lot and the baby ended up dying. I think he is now out because he was a juvenile and when he reached the age of 25 he was released and is now on parole. This is the senerio that fits. I have not told my daughter I know this and I am a concerned with him being around the GGrands. I suspect part of his parole requirements are not to be around children yet he was around them. I don't know who does or does not know this. And not sure what I should do with the information.
Yesterday I started cleaning out the RV. The boat is still at the marina. We have to take it back to the repair place as one of the repairs didn't hold. DH will do that this weekend. I hope to do a bit of cleaning out everyday, RV and house. If I can just spend an hour or two every day, eventually I will get through it.
I almost forgot to add, DBIL is coming back to California as my DH cousin passed away. His family is weird with deaths. There is no funeral. They wait usually several weeks and then the family has a get together. Everyone is cremated. So Karen's get together will be May 10. DBIL is coming the day before. Thankfully, he has a round trip ticket and will be leaving after the event. I have already committed to helping the ladies at my friends church with their quilting that day so won't be attending. They want to do a Disappearing Nine Patch. I am looking for a book if anybody has any suggestions. I haven't found one yet.
Well I need to catch up on reading what is up with all of you. I also need to get to the RV before the heat of the day. I don't like to run the AC as it jumps my electric bill so much. Hope you all have a wonderful day and I will talk a bit longer tomorrow.

Re: Tuesday April 15th Its tax day
Good morning. Today is going to be a beautiful day.
Just before noon I will take a friend to a doctors appointment. It will be an all afternoon thing. She has another one on the 18th.
Yesterday I started a jigsaw puzzle. I purchased it at a rummage sale, we will see how far I get before putting it all back in the box and donating it. It's 1,000 pieces, I should have started smaller. I haven't done a puzzle in a long time.
Today is tax day and I took some of my refund and just bought a new weed eater, it comes with two batteries and will also fit my existing batteries. Now I will be able to weed eat non stop and not have to wait for a battery to charge. I'm so glad that I will be able to just get it done without waiting. I can also thread both weed eaters, the old and new, and have full spools of string on both. Yep, no waiting. And, in the long run, it will be cheaper than hiring it done. woo hoo.
Tina, you could fill that hole from the pond with all the dust and such that blows into your house. Just a thought.
Judi, I figured that all that painting would mean no huge meal cooking at your house. Sometimes sandwich fixings make the perfect meal.
Lyn, organizing might include purging, you might end up with more room in that cabin than you realized. Glad you paid your taxes, I appreciate your part in funding my new weed eater.
Flo, you are so kind to help this not so small family.
Maryz, you add biscuits and gravy to your favorite breakfast and that would be my favorite breakfast. I mix it all up and add a little more gravy and chow down. Looks like we were both thinking the same solution to Tina's hole in the ground issue.
Maryq, what a beautiful quilt. Nothing regarding political stuff surprises me anymore, I'm just fed up with all of it and have even stopped reading or watching any of it. Wow, you're up, showered and dressed. That's two steps ahead of me.
Jana, what is for Easter dinner? hope the pacemaker passes inspection. Nice to get to stay at home alone for a little bit.
Valerie, I hope DBIL is staying elsewhere, how did he afford a round trip ticket? hope that means he has a job and is loving where he lives. Are you looking for a disappearing 9 patch book? I use El's pattern. Sometimes I just look at YouTube. I understand your concern about DGD's boyfriend. I wonder if you could figure out who his parole officer is and call or send a note with your concerns? I do agree, innocent people don't have parole or probation. And my worry would be that he still has a temper. hope that your rv and house clean up quickly so you can go out and play.
I think I will fry up the bacon I have in the fridge and have a blt salad for brunch. Then I will hit the showers and be ready to take my friend to the doctor.
You all have a super duper day
Chriss

Re: Tuesday April 15th Its tax day
Valerie, welcome home. Sorry your trip wasn't what you expected. Did you have fun anyway? The situation with your granddaughter is a tough one. If he was a minor when he committed the crime he gets out at 25. If he was innocent, he wouldn't be on parole. Unfortunately criminals lie and don't feel bad about doing it. Hopefully your granddaughter will see the truth and get away from him. Some women go for the bad boy type and end up in bad situations. When is your cross country trip?
Chriss, 1000 pieces will just take more time. I like doing puzzles. I think I'll get one out too. We used to say the pledge at guild, but somewhere along the way it stopped. I don't know why. It's a good reminder of what a great country we live in. Weeding non stop doesn't sound like fun, but if it needs to be done I guess it's faster that way. I've been doing some trimming at my dad's house. My mom was the primary gardener for years. That yard was so beautiful when she took care of it. It's still nice, but needs a lot of work.
Tina, my goodness woman. That's a lot to do in one day. I wouldn't be able to move after all that. Glad it's one less chore for Frankie. As we age we need to cut things out just to keep up. How's your foot doing? Glad you were able to find homes for the turtles and pond. My parents had 3 ponds in there backyard. The would put in fish, and racoons would get them.
Jana, I bet the kids will have a blast looking for eggs. Eggs are cheaper now, will you be dyeing some with the kids?
Maryq, that's a beautiful quilt. Sometimes when I'm typing I hit something, I don't know what, and my post goes bye-bye.
Maryz, I love Tillamook cheese. I bet they give you samples at the factory. I follow a dairy farmer on FB that sells milk to them for their cheese. He's up in Oregon too. Embroidery is a great thing to do while people are talking. Are you working on the Christmas embroidery quilt? Breakfast for dinner is always a good choice.
Flo, no coffee for 2 days? Yikes! I bet the first cup was wonderful. Crazy to have that many people in a 20 ft trailer.
Lyn, we too made a large donation to the government. Hope they spend it wisely. haha Here in CA, if the wind blows over a wooden fence the insurance company will replace it. We had one years ago then went down and we put up a cinder block wall 90 ft long. The neighbors split it with us and one of Bill's fireman friends built it. So it didn't cost us much out of pocket. We used to get a lot of work done with trades. Most fireman have a second job on their days off.
Judi, hope you finish up the painting today. I'm surprised they didn't give you a disabled placard when you had your knee done. I keep trying to have Bill get one because he has a bad back and knees.
Both the boys walked me this morning. It's back to cloudy and cool again and will stay that way for a while. Definitely better walking weather. I spent 3 hours at the bank yesterday getting a few accounts changed over. The fun is just beginning.
I went to my line dancing class last night. It was fun, but I was having trouble following one part. I'll practice it this week and see if I can't get it down. Don't know what I'll get done today. Bill's off golfing. We'll do our usually late lunch and call it good for dinner as well. I need to think about where I want to go for lunch.
Have a lovely day.
