Saturday, April 12
Good morning.
This will be a shorty, I am on my phone and we have very poor Internet and cell coverage in this campground. Actually that is part of its charm-no electronics. But we are only here one night so I’m not going to try to adjust to life without my Quilting peeps.
We had a nice drive down here to the ocean, a good visit with Bill’s sister and brother-in-law, good weather, and Scotty had a good walk. About 3/4 of a mile. But he was tuckered at the end and wanted no part of an evening walk. But he was excited for breakfast and walk this morning at 4:30.
Today we will drive down the coast, cross the Columbia over the Astoria bridge, which I believe Jana knows very well. A super high in the air bridge several miles long at the mouth of the river. Then through Astoria, Oregon, and down the coast a wee bit to seaside for the week. Weather looks to be good for the coast in April. 50° to 65°, no rain predicted for the week we are there.
That’s all for now, coffee is ready and I’m sure someone will serve me a cup because I am cat locked in my chair
Judy, I would love to go to that fabric store with you!

Good morning It is sunny and cold here, But I have laundry going and we will head tot he hockey game at 1230 Ryker 's first game of the spring season. Ken will resume work on his bar and I think I will start spring cleaning by painting my stairway to the basement, ti isnt a lot but a lot of woodwork. It was never done when the basement was remodeled so I thought it could be done now. It basically is a one day job for most but it will take me a lot longer,,,I tape and clean then paint walls when they dry I do the trim then the cleanup...I would never make a living as a painter,,,but while at home depot yesterday ( that is a whole nother story) I picked up a bag of very inexpensive paintbrushes that can be thrown away after use,,,I know that isnt very ecological but Im old and get a pass sometimes.
Wouldnt it be fun if we all could head to Shiloh Ohio to the Barn and shop.....they wouldnt know what hit them...I think we are planning s trip some time in May,,,see you then.....
Laundry is singing so off I go...Have a wonderful day,,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo

Sunny and warm.
Judi, I looked up Ohio and that town is quite a distance from Nappanee, IN, so I will have to pass. But I hope you find treasures that follow you home.
MaryZ, You have dusted off a corner of my brain with your location. Back in 2001 we took our new truck with slide-in camper through Salem, saw a niece, out to the coast and up through Washington to Canada. It was actually a fishing trip at Langara Island Lodge. But, we took several extra days to explore the NW. That was back when Garry was open to such things, but then we were still in early relationship mode and maybe that's why he agreed to more than just fishing.
Yesterday I met our friends at Lowe's to pick up the storm door. After we unloaded it in the garage, Carol and I left the guys on the back porch with ice tea and watching Minnie explore her yard, and headed to Llano QS. I found a piece of silver fabric that will work on a future project and Carol found a couple patterns. I overheard a lady telling another customer about the other QS in town. What!!! I've been here 3 years and didn't know about another shop, so of course we had to check it out. It's smaller, but she has different fabrics than the big shop. We didn't find anything, but are happy to know about the shop. We picked up Cooper's BBQ and brought it back to the house for a late lunch. Of course Carol and Bob had to see the slow progress in the Cabin before they headed home. They will come back in a few days when I'm ready to move the sewing cabinet and other big furniture in. It's wonderful to have helpful friends!
After coffee and Minnie's walk, I will be in the Cabin getting those shelves up and totes stored.
Hope y'all do something fun.
Lyn

Good morning Girls
Looks like a nice day here! Alexa says we will hit 60 something!! Can I believe that spring is finally here? Still too early to set plants outside, you never know when a frost is going to move in.
Maryz.... sounds like Scotty is getting back to his old frisky self. Is it scary to pull the camper over that long bridge? There's a bridge between Duluth, MN and Superior, WI that I drove once and it scared the be-jeesus out of me. Steep curve so couldn't see more than about 5 feet in front of you. Wishing you smooth roads and clear skies! Love Amara's birthday picture! When I saw Autumn, first thing I said was.... boy she looks like her Mama!!
Judi...Oh gosh, I'm chuckling as I write this... "I'm old, so I get a pass!" I'm going to remember that when somebody (a child of mine) gives me crap about something. I too rarely buy the expensive paint brushes, but then again, I don't paint any more. Climbing up on a ladder is just out of the question around here. Heck, I get a grandchild to come over to change a ceiling light bulb for me!
Jana.... Is the Batt Cave all cleaned up and ready for the next project? Which is? Another squirrel running through the Batt Cave?
Chriss.... I'm thinking a better option would definitely be new blinds/curtains in your windows! Going too long without a shower would just not be healthy. You could possibly lose some friends over it!!
Lori... How are things going over at Dad's house? Are you still working on cleaning things out? Its' quite a job isn't it? A year after my Dad passed we spent months working on cleaning up the house--the house I grew up in. My Dad saved everything.... every tax return from 1945, every bank statement and all the canceled checks. There were some really neat things--letters from My grandfather when he was stationed in France in WWI. I feel bad, that I think some of those things are lost now.
Lyn.... So nice that you have friends close to help you with the heavy lifting! I'm anxious to see you cabin once it's all set up. Will you do a lot of moving etc before you head north?
Peg and I had a fun day at Goodwill. I bought a few more books I don't need and a cute little pot for a house plant (like I need another one of those
) Then went to Marshall's across the highway. Do y'all have Marshalls? I think I've only been there once before and forget all about them most of the time. I did find 3 new blouses/tops for summer---as everything else in my closet it UGLEEEEEE! I looked at GW for summer stuff that wasn't bu-ugly but they had none. Didn't get much done when I got home, stitched up some NICU little vests and will finish those today. When it warms up a few more degrees I'm going to throw open the windows. We are at the stage here---windows open during the day, closed at night with the furnace back on!
Need a refill on coffee and a shine up in the kitchen, then you will find me in the sewing room!
Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning!
Another beautiful day here! Goldilocks weather, just right! Our warmth is heading East for me to share some of it.
We're both up and bored! The day is just beginning! So we're cleaning the sliding window tracks in my bedroom. It's covered in thick dirt from when we did the yard landscaping. All the window tracks are a mess. So I'm getting my handy dandy power spinny scrub brush thingy with the pointy attachment and putting it to use. When Mr G gets bored, my cabinets get cleaned and rearranged. Right now he's fussing around in our bathroom with the sink cabinet. Thank goodness it's not that big!
The great news is that we've graduated from the Cardio PT program! We have a final appointment on Monday for the finall testing and checking the numbers. But we are done! 32 weeks of going, three days a week! So I have my days back! We still have Dr appointments, but they are being stretched out longer too.
Well I got squireled by Mr G to clean that window track. Right now, so I did, stopped here for a few minutes. Nice and cleaned and waxed too. When I was little, my mom used a product called Johnson Jubilee Wax on our formica counter tops. I found some to keep my laminate clean on the sewing island, so tried it on the window tracks, after I washed them. Seems to work well. I'll add a second coat later today. So that's done.
After breakfast, I'll be 8n the Batt Cave!
Yes, Maryz I know that bridge well! Not getting me on the spindly bridge! Did you know that the movie, Short Circuit was filmed in Astoria? It's about a robot, who was much like a human and there's a couple of famous lines that this family quotes from that movie. One - "more input", two, "no disassemble ", and three, "your mama was a snowblower" The came out when Stu was a little boy. Fun kids movie.
Hunger strikes,
Hugs,
Jana

Jana, kindergarten cop was also filmed in Astoria with Arnold Schwarzenegger. One of my favorite movies.
Mary Q, sounds like your shopping day was productive. I don’t know which bridge it was but when I was barely 16 with a brand new drivers license, we took a trip back east to Washington DC. My parents thought it would be neat if I drove at least a little bit in every state. Not knowing a bridge like the one you described, was coming up I had no chance to pull over. That was indeed a scary bridge. When we got to the other side, I pulled into a parking lot and let my dad have the wheel. That’s when he told me we passed of flaming 4 car wreck in the lanes going the other direction. I was so focused. I never even saw it.
Lynn, hope I resurrected good memories for you. You also jogged my brain the other day with your talk of mason jars. I never gave all my canning jars a thought. They would be great for storing things like rice, dried beans, etc. in the pantry. Better than my 49 yr old clear plastic containers.
Rain has stopped so it’s time for a short walk before we hit the road again. See you down the highway.

Re: Saturday, April 12
Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today.
Last night a friend and I went to dinner. There is a little restaurant in town that during the summer has bbq's Friday and Saturday nights. They are very slow and unorganized, but it's a decent meal and fun once in a while.
Our quilt group meets this morning. I am not sure if I am going or staying home. I will decide soon as I will need to be out the door within the hour.
I must work on cleaning this house this week. I am just not wanting to do much of anything.
Lori, how did the cubs do? I like Moose to be outside when I run the vac too. He just bark at it. He will chase the mop and broom, but the vacuum cleaner is not his friend.
Maryz, I'm with Scottie, love morning walks.
Judi, I'm not a painter either. I love the idea of throw away paint brushes. I found a tote of painting things in the garage. Hope the hockey game goes in Ryker's favor.
Lyn, I have an app on my phone called Needle Travel. It finds quilt shops, embroidery shops, yarn shops etc.
Maryq, I went to a rummage sale yesterday and only found books, today there is another sale but I'm not sure I will go. I really need to tackle my window covering. I'm rolling the shade up and wedging it in between the walls that frame the window, and rolling it down when I shower. Oh, I forgot about the climbing on a ladder part of painting, I have cathedral ceilings. Maybe I will rethink painting all together.
Jana, happy graduation. Just what will you do with all that free time you are recouping?
Ok, I will get dressed, go to the quilt meeting, come home and clean this messy house. but first breakfast. Dinner will be rotisserie chicken, with the leftover cauliflower salad. yum.
YYou all have a great day,
chriss

Maryz, sounds like a perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself. Glad Scottie went for at least one of his walks. I remember Astoria for the Kindergarten Cop movie too, and wasn't the Goonies filmed up there as well?
Judi, we need to paint and do some updating to our house. I've been consumed with my parents for so long we just kept putting if off. Well it's time to start doing. We need to decide on a plan of action before we just jump in.
Lyn, It's always fun to go to a new quilt shop. You never know when you might find that perfect thing you weren't looking for.
Jana, Yay for graduation day. I bet it will be nice to have that time back to do other things. Like make a mess in the sewing room.
Maryq, funny you should mention the taxes back to the 40's. I found my mom and dad's taxes back to when they first got married in 1953 all the way to now. Why would you keep those all these years? I'm taking a break from going though the house. Sounds like you found some fun things yesterday.
Chriss, BBQ sounds yummy. I was thinking the other day that I wanted to some BBQ ribs. Haven't had them yet, but I'm sure well be getting some soon. The Cubs lost to the Dodgers last night. Hoping for a win today, but not optimistic. The Dodgers are a really good team. They won the would series last year.
So did you go to the quilt group?
It's a bit cooler today. Only getting up to 76, cloudy and clearing out now. I just printed out all the envelopes for the taxes, so well sign them, write out checks, and take them to the post office on Monday.
I played around drawing this morning. I'm not going to the drawing class anymore, but just having some fun. In the fall I want to take the watercolor class, because you can never have too many crafts. My mom painted with oils on canvas. I'm thinking about checking with a gallery to see if they would show and sell some of her paintings. There's too many for me to take. I already have several.
Dinner will be spaghetti, meatballs, garlic bread and salad.
Have a lovely day.
