Good Morning,
It's early and I'm up I really slept well last night so I'm ready to go.
We went to Walmart yesterday I got 2 of the 3 draw plastic cabinets and a new garbage can for the kitchen then we came home and went back out again to harbor freight because I thought I wanted a table from there but I didn't like it so the only thing I got was 2 flashlights that have a hook on it I had one and after a long time it went I like them for my sewing room.
So we came home and I ordered my table off Amazon it's similar to the one I bought for upstairs for my long arm and cutie frame but this one has locking wheels on it and I can store plastic 3 draws underneath that so it's a win win for me and the table has 5 adjustable heights and an electrical outlet on the side.
That will be here between the 19th and the 20th.
Bill has a dermatologist apt for this afternoon and that's the only thing for today.
I'm going to try and get things going in my sewing room.
Mary I hope your enjoying your sister and brother-in-law's visit and that Scotty is improving.
Mary z they have a smaller version of starry nights called oh little town.
Well that's it for all the news here.
I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good morning I guess we both hit the floor running today,,,I am done with the kitchen bed is made and I am dressed I will load up the car for the salvation army run today,,,
Yesterday I pulled 12 jackets out of the coat closet and laid the on the couch...Ken asked if they were going to the cleaners ( silly boy) I told him he needed to go through them as most of them do not fit him anymore since he lost 50 lbs a lot has to go...so he did ( Praise the Lord) got rid of many coats and jackets, A win for me as I was able to find a newer winter jacket hidden in the closet that I forgot i had,,,so I am set for coats and jackets...so is Ken he ca use a new heavy winter coat so maybe he will find one he likes...
I did start block #3 of the Garden Friends quilt...I did a practise run on the Y seams and although it wasnt perfect I saw what I did wrong and corrected it...the embroidery is not difficult but my satin stitches need a bit of work...I am enjoying the process...
My errands today include the post office and a stop at the market,,,Hope you are all enjoying the process whatever iit be,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,
LOIS - I had to go look up O Little Town quilt. I'm glad I've already done the big one or otherwise I'd be tempted. Sounds like you found the purrfect table. Is it a double-sided, drop-leaf cutting table?
LORI - great Irish saying. I hadn't heard that one. You are closing in on OWL. If you think it makes a mess with pulling fabrics, you should see the colorful explosion in my sewing room with this NYB! I have about 130 different fabrics out and sorted into stacks by color. When I finish this project I'm going to have to go through all my fabrics and rethink/refold/reshelve. lol!
CHRISS - How did your corned beef turn out? I've never made it. Neither of us care for it much. I don't watch much news myself but Bill is a news junkie - especially political news - on phone, computer, and TV. But the news isn't news anymore so much as it is entertainment - anything to draw viewers in and keep them watching. So they use the buzz words to catch people's attention. It is depressing. Also, my dear friend, go a little easy on yourself. You are coming up on Jerry's first anniversary. I've learned the days leading up can be worse than the actual day itself. I know wherefrom I speak - all too well. It's different for everyone, but my own way of coping with these kinds of days is to try to do something I love doing or be with people I love being with. And sometimes you just have to gut it out. This is a hard time for you but you WILL get through it. And better days are ahead. I promise.

VAL - I thought Sears came and fixed your washer. They really don't seem to be very good at this kind of thing, do they. I hope your old boss eventually gets together with you to get all the supplies left from your job so you can finally be shuck of them for good and move on.
MARY Q - what town is that warehouse actually in? Years ago, maybe 2002, we went to a big warehouse with all kinds of crafts and every fabric you could think of. Can't remember the name of it but it was about 30 miles from you. (didn't know you then). And which baby is coming first - baby boy or girl. I've forgotten. I'm waiting to find out what kind of grandbaby my walking buddy, Lori From Across The Road, is having. I want to make a quilt for her.
JANA - All the SS stuff can be so confusing. I was lucky - Bill reached it before I did and he really throws himself into research for everything. So most of the work was done for me ahead of time. Your chicken and rice dish sounds more delicious than corned beef and cabbage. And what does "corned" mean, anyway? As Irish as we are in my family, we've never had it as kids or adults. I do like the potatoes, cabbage, and carrots it's cooked with but I'm not much for the meat.
JUDI - We work together on sheets here. I can't lift the corners of the mattress to tuck the sheet in. It kills my low back. And we wash the sheets and put them right back on the bed. We have a cotton set and a flannel set. Hooray for Ken and the coats! I wish Bill would do the same thing. Your hexie quilt is going to be beautiful! Is it for you? Or simply for the challenge and the love of making it? Sounds like you will have those Y seams well in hand.
Yesterday I got in about 2 hours of sewing. Not enough to finish NYB #36, but almost. My sis and dbil arrived about 3:15pm. We got them settled, had happy hour, supper, visiting, TV, and we all went to bed about 8:45. Not sure what we're going to do today. Tina and I might go into Tacoma. I have a couple errands to run and we'll probably hit some thrift stores. Not sure if it's worth it to stop at Joann's but we might.
I thought yesterday was going to be Scottie's day. He just laid in our closet all morning so I sat next to him on the floor and read a book and stroked his coat. And then while I was at chiro, Bill said he suddenly was up, asked to go outside, then came back inside, climbed the stairs to the kitchen, and asked for his breakfast. He ate well most of the day, moved about the house, laying here and there. His back end is shot because of his severe arthritis, but otherwise he's acting kind of normal this morning.
I'm still working out supper details. Maybe pork chops, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and rolls.
Happy today!

Re: Tuesday March 18,2025
Good Morning, hope all is well in the world. I have had breakfast and sewed a few seams. Taking a break. I have absolutely no where to go to day. I could clean house but why do that why I can sew.
Maryz Sears did show up but of course did not have the part. So they are supposed to be mailing it (last time this happened it took 4 months for the part to arrive). I have an appointment scheduled for Saturday but we will see. I did finally hear from boss and have delivered 3 boxes and my bag. She seemed surprised that I brought back the BP cuff and similar items.
Lois after I did Starry Nights, I really have not had the desire to use that ruler again. I am glad I had the experience but once is enough. I have so many UFO's and a gazillion more not started. I am set for life with projects.
Judi I do better if I can hit the floor running, I sit around too long and loose all my mojo. Uhm, interesting how you got rid of those jackets. I may try that. DH has coats he hasn't worn in over 20 years. He seems to not be able to let go of things.
Lori any update on Dad. Hope the hospice has gotten things under control.
Chriss I am not a news watcher either. I just can't take all the negativity. And the political back and forths, oh &^%$ no! Just can't take it. What are Miwuks? Sounds like an indian tribe. Retirement is wonderful. I do not miss work in the least! No desire to go back! Wish I hadn't given Dad's TV away. It's just what you need. Shoot.
Maryq How is the baby quilt coming?
Well think I will sit and bind for a bit. Time is wasting and I really need to get this binding done. Have a great day all.

Windy on the coast of Texas.
MaryZ, Glad your company arrived safely. Hope Scottie is doing better. We will leave the coast on April 1st and go to the TX house. We'll leave a day or two after Easter, for our annual service appt in Indiana. Then to Colorado for GS graduation.
I don't watch much news on TV. I do have some email newsletters that I get that are more fact, not option. And there's usually a trivia about the day, like last week the story was the first 300 game in bowling. I sent that to GS1, he bowls. Anyway if you want to check them out here's what to search for:
The Brighter Side of News
The Flyover
1440 Daily Digest
Also The Flyover is specific to some states. I get the Texas Flyover and the Colorado Flyover. I know there's other states, they just started the Ohio Flyover.
Chriss, I think MaryZ has good advice especially since she has walked that path. I hope y'all have a wonderful visit with Elliott and get some 4 generation photos.
MaryQ, Your Warehouse sounds similar to one I visited in Winnipeg 2 years ago, when we spent the weekend with our Canada kids. Frank purposely found it just to irritate Garry.
I did find some fabric for the Cardinal I made for a swap.
Yesterday we both went to the Chiropractor in the afternoon. Garry wanted a Whataburger, I'm not much on them, so I picked up my meal at Chick-fil-A to eat later.
Today I hope to sew. Have some laundry to do, which will include sheets. Dinner will be leftover parm chicken and a veggie.
Good day to all.
Lyn

Re: Tuesday March 18,2025
Good morning!
It's snowing! One last big hurrah for winter. The proverbial they put schools on delay start and there's even power outages. You would think by the hype that the apocalypse was happening. Looked out my window and the grass blades are still showing! Sheesh, what storm! Still have wind though. All in all a nothing storm and my excuse to stay home and sew! Which is the plan.
My family always camped in Yosemite. My mom bought a Miwuk Indian hand woven basket before I was born. It's the tribes well know pattern and my mom used it for years to hold the embroidery thread she had. It's just a nice size . Well, on Antiques Roadshow, I saw the exact same basket, only a larger size than mine and it was appraised at $5000! My basket is smaller, but still, I have a expensive antique! It's in fantastic condition, as my mom kept it on a shelf in her closet and didn't use it much. It now sits in my quilt cabinet, so it's seen and not used. Another fun story of stuff at this house, is a small wooden carved trunk. It has cats carved on all sides. I saw it in a consignment shop and had to have it, I love cats! So while Kari was living here, she saw for sale the exact same trunk here on a local board. The ad stated that it was a one of a kind, hand carved trunk. And they wanted a very pretty penny for it. Kari showed me the listing, with pictures and wanted to know if we wanted to burst that person's bubble , since I too have the exact same one! We behaved. And I call this wooden trunk, the "cat box", which does carry a whole different connotation!
So not much here, need to do a few uglies and then it's down to the Batt Cave!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Tuesday March 18,2025
Good morning everyone
We went to Cruces yesterday and visited Maria, Matthew and Elijah; they are off in Spring break and it was a nice driving day. We really enjoyed the visit and were home just before dark. Today is going to be a bad wind and dirt day; up to 75mph gusts are possible with sustained winds of 35-45mph... we're staying inside.
Lois, sounds like you found the perfect table!
Judi, look at all that space from those jackets you just got rid of, that's the best part
I don't like doing the bed either, it's a killer for me but Frankie has gotten to where he helps now. Our next bed will be a queen size bed, kings are way too heavy for me now.
Maryz, oh my goodness, I bet that was a hard day but so glad he's starting to do better. I like corned beef either as a roast with potatoes and veggies or as a grilled Reuben sandwich.....so yummy!
Valerie, glad you got all your work stuff turned in. I think whoever is doing the repairs for Sears needs to be replaced with someone different.
Lyn, I choose Chick-fil-A over Whataburger too
I need to do sheets too but with the wind today think I'll wait till tomorrow.....I just never know how bad it'll get inside.
Chriss, I'm sorry you've been having a rough time π« get an extra smooch from Elliot
it will help some.
Jana hopefully your storm won't get bad. Here the school admin is so bad that she'll wait until the storm hits and then say they're closing the schools when visibility is already zero....the DOT has chewed her out several times. She's supposedly resigning at the end of this month after 1 of the school buses wrecked getting to school in one of those dirt storms, thankfully no kids were on the bus yet and nobody was hurt bad.
I have to do some paperwork today and hopefully get some time in my sewing room. Dad won't be coming over tonight for supper because of the winds but he has groceries in his house and knows how to cook so all is good.
I hope you all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need
Tina

Re: Tuesday March 18,2025
Good Morning all
Not much to report from here today. It's semi-sunny and not getting very warm and my weather app says we have 65% chance of snow tomorrow---but that could mean anything from the 10 flakes we got the other day to a few inches!
Lois.... Sounds like you are making good progress on the re-set of your sewing room!! Personally I'm a huge fan of those drawer things, but then I like anything I can put STUFF in!! KC left a couple behind so I'm using one just to store my yarn and finished baby hats in. It's not pretty but it does the trick.
Judi... Oh what fun.... a new jacket!! I have a few in my closet I should get rid of too. There's even a coat in there I bought in Ireland in 2000!! I can count the number of times I've worn it. At one time it fit, now I'm sure it's a little tight around the tush!
Maryz... The warehouse is in Brooklyn Park. It's about 15 miles from my house (east). I bet you are thinking of Crafts Direct, which was in St. Cloud about 40 miles west of me. They closed last year, but had just about every craft you could possibly want to do. It was really a shock when they went out of business. The Warehouse carries brand name (Timeless Treasures, Andover etc) fabric. If they bolt price says $14.99/yd. actually price is $7.50/yd. They have a TON of batiks-bolt price $16.99, hence $8.50/yd. It's actually kind of funny---both babies are due at the same time. I think Meaghan's girl date is May 8th (tho she will be born on May 1) and Samantha's boy is due April 29, I think. Would be funny if they came on same day! Sam is in Colorado. Glad to hear Scottie is doing a little better. I didn't realize he was older, seems like you just got him yesterday!!
Valerie.... I nearly spit coffee out my nose when I read "I could clean...." My sentiments exactly!. Both baby quilts are done. The little boy one turned out really cute. I'm not happy with the girl one and still might do a different one later. How are you enjoying your first week of retirement?
Lyn,.... I too get the 1440 e-mail. I have not let myself watch too much political stuff or I just get upset. I was good girl at the warehouse and didn't go over budget too much.. It's so easy to do there. They have every type of fabric you could possibly want---cottons, knits, batiks, upholstery, bridal, flannel. Google SR HARRIS ... they show some pictures.
Jana.... Looks like the snow you are getting today will be on it's way to me..... Thanks but no thanks.
Tina.... Is this normal for this time of year that you get such strong winds? The last week has kind of been crazy weather wise all across the country, tornadoes in Missouri and wind storms near you and in Texas. We must have really ticked off Mother Nature!
Chriss..... Agree.... you can't trust the news any more. I trust a couple more than others but I take everything with a grain of salt. I've been tempted to totally quit Facebook, because NOTHING there is the truth, just somebody's opinion--which is fine, they are free to say what they want, but I'm free to not listen to it. I've blocked a couple relatives because I refuse to listen to their rants.
Well, I'm showered but need to do face and hair and run into town to pick up an Rx. (to keep my BP down while I watch the news
) When I get home I think I might do a little re-con in the sewing room and then sew up some baby sleeps sacks that I cut out the other day. Might do a test block for Erin's wedding quilt... we'll see how the day goes.
Here's Baby boy Quilt (with Thanks to Chriss)
This is the Needlepoint kit I bought on Ebay... I've been wanting to do this for ages! Finally found the kit! This is the postage stamps we used to mail our wedding invitations in 1973!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Re: Tuesday March 18,2025
Good morning, it's going to be a great day today. We might get to 55* and there is no rain predicted.
The parents will be up today, dad wants to help me remove the old tv from the wall. There used to be a satellite hookup from when we had Direct tv, and there are other wires and cables that are no longer needed. Dad wants to play in that area. The only thing that really needs to come out of that wall is the wall plug and the cable for the antenna. My dad likes to figure things out and solve the puzzle. This will be another chance for him to do that.
Last night I got a burst of energy, washed all the bedding and any quilts I could find. Washed clothes and decided to clean the house. This morning I will dust and my house will be clean. Only thing left to wash is Moose. He will get his bath when I come home from the dentist, but shhhh, I'm not telling him yet. Crazy dog. He won't go into the bathroom where I give him a bath on his own. But, if I put a leash on him he follows gladly and hops in the tub.
This afternoon the dentist appointment that was cancelled becuase of the snow will happen. three fillings and I should be good to go for a while. Since I will be in town I will drop off my donation for the Miwuk rummage sale and have an empty spot in the garage.
I was less than thrilled with my attempt at corned beef and cabbage. I followed the recipes I found on the interent, but the beef was pretty bland. I think next time I will get a pound at the deli and go with that. I don't see myself preparing that meal again.
Lois, that sounds like a perfect table. Nice that it is adjustable. I live Amazon and how quickly they can deliver anything you want.
Judi, So glad Ken went through those jackets. What will you do with all that empty closet space? glad you've mastered those Y seams.
Maryz, I haven't gone into a Joanns since they announced their closing. I just picture a shopping frenzy and I don't want to be in the middle of that, but I do wish I could join you in thrift store shopping. Glad your sis made it safely. Well I sure hope Scottie has you trained now. Maybe he just needed his mama to give him some extra loving and read him a comforting book. Yep, I pray that's all he needed. Jerry also had to sign up for SS and all that went with it. That is why I got into HICAP, I saw him struggle and decided that before it was my turn I had best learn a thing or two. Now I'm getting survivors benefits so only need to think about medicare in a few years, I'll be 62 in July. Thanks for your support. I have been thinking about it alot and knwo it's not going to be easy, but I also know I will get through it and be good to go. I appreciate the hug.
Valerie, the Miwuks are an Indian tribe here. They are decendents of Chief Tenaya. Google them and read about their time in Yosemite National Park along with the brutal attack on them by the Mariposa Batallion. A very sad time in our history. Glad you don't miss retirement, I don't miss it either. It's a good thing to be in our situation.
Lyn, yum for chix parm. I just love it. not quite why it is so good. I don't put chicken in my spaghetti sauce, but I do love the sauce over my chicken. crazy. I will follow MZ's advice and have already planned a celebration for myself. It will involve a cupcake and a bit of a celebration for doing so well in the past year. While I am sometimes weepy I am mostly happy that Jerry knew where he was going and I know where he is. I'm very thankful that he and I talked about his death and both of us were comfortable (not sure what word to use here) about the end of his life.
Jana, you can buy kits to make those Miwuk baskets online through the Mariposa Museum. They are really beautiful. There was a big rock slide on hwy 140 between here and Yosemite. Not sure when it will be cleardd. There is an Indian legend that says mother earth is not happy with the way we are treating the earth and causes these slides to try to get us back into caring about nature.
Tina, this too shall pass, I'll get passed this and be fine. I've only been to chic file once, never been to whataburger. I think, if I were to go to fast food it would be El Polo Loco.
Maryq, love your needlepoiunt. so happy you found it. Yay for finishing the boy quilt. It really turned out great. I've also been tempted to quit FB, but it lists different events going on around me and I want to stay connected to that. So I look at the page where people sell stuff, the low carb page and the events. I rarely comment on anything.
The parents called, they will be here soon. I need to move things so dad and I can get to the tv and have a little breakfast. I also might run a dust rag just for appearances.
Dinner, ugh, who knows. probably a salad.
You all have a fabulous day,
Chriss

Maryq, love your needlepoint pattern. I haven't done needlepoint in years, but I always enjoyed it. Just not enough time in a day. Your warehouse sounds similar to a place here. It's called M&L.
They have flat fold fabric for $3.98. Lot of Riley Blake and other big names.
The black kittle just popped up on the wall outside my window. I think he's just going to hang out a bit while I type.
Chriss, I do cleaning at night. I feel like I'm not wasting my day if it's at night. Moose is not going to be a happy dog when it's bath time, but a clean dog is nice to have around the house.
Tina, sounds like you had a nice visit yesterday. Bummer the wind is coming back again.
Jana, your cat box sound pretty cool. I have a table on the patio with 3 carved cats. We got it at a furniture store years ago when they were going out of business.
Valerie, Isn't it nice not to have to go anywhere? After I retired I think I stayed home and didn't get in my car for almost a week. Yes, Hospice has things under control. They are visiting everyday now.
Maryz, I can imagine your sewing room looks crazy with all those PP blocks. I keep pulling from my stash and not really putting it back neatly. When I'm done I'll have to organize everything again. Glad Scottie had an okay day. When we got Jack, they gave us information about his genes and hip dysplasia. They said there was none in his family genes. I know Wrigley has some because his legs move when he lays a certain way. Plus he's a big boy. I think keeping them active helps a lot. I didn't realize Scottie was almost 12. So far he's had an awesome life. Let's hope he hangs in there a little longer. All of our dogs have made it to 13-14 years old. Our Tortie cat Molly is 20 and still going. I had another Tortie when I was a teenager and she lived to 19. I just wish they had a longer life span. Have fun with your sister. I think you head to AK this week.
The boys took me for a walk already. Wrigley wanted to stop and smell every little thing. I finally had to short leash him so we could get our walk finished. I think I'll head up to dad's today and see if I can finish up a room. They are taking way longer than I expected, and I tend to get side tracked. I walk in another room and see something that catches my attention. Squirrel. I don't know what's for dinner just yet.
Have a lovely day.
