SATURDAY, March 15th, 2025
Good morning,
The Ides of March! And it sounds like it outside - cold, wet, windy. Ugh. Normally, I don't mind the rain, but right now, I could sure use some warm sunshine.
Scottie was still sleeping this morning and I tend to let sleeping dogs lie, but yesterday we think he turned a corner. We started him on Abx and he is a new dog. Still weak, but he ate some canned food, drank water, and walked pretty steadily. Much more alert. Still can't do stairs or get in/out of the car, but we're so happy to see him awake, alert, and begging for plates! (which he did not get!).
LYN - The Shop Hop sounds like it was fun for you and you found a few bargains. There is a shop called The Cotton Cupboard, 15310 Storm Dr, off 620 in Lakeway, just south of Hudson Bend. They also give points for dollars spent and I usually have about $25 credit on record. But I never got a chance to stop in this year. Remiss of me. Thanks for the Janome info. I used to have a small one for travel but I gave it to Autumn. I should tell her - or just buy some needles and give them to her. She doesn't sew, but wanted a machine on hand 'just in case'.
LORI - That is such a sweet love story about your dad and mom. How old were they when they got married? I'm happy that he still remembers her.
TINA - I'm sorry about your wind. I think NM's "dust storm warning" signs don't do your winds justice! How long is it forecast to be mega-windy? What did Preston think of f--- for supper?
CHRISS - You are certainly way more electronically smart than I am! If it were left to me, we'd still have a corded landline, no computer, and for sure no TV! Did you make it to Dad's house? I KNOW he is grateful for your help cleaning. I used to clean for my parents, too, and I know how appreciative they were. Has Pete got all the trees taken care of? And the weeds? Maybe we should find out if he likes to mow, too?
JANA - Did you find your mattress? Our new mattress warmer arrived and we put it on yesterday. (the old one died after 7 months). So we were at least in mattress land with you. Congrats to Ethan! I bet he's going to be very capable in whatever he does all through life! And go, Gracie, Go!! Hard to believe all these babies of yours that just got born are doing such big people things! Glad things are working out for Stu. I hope he finds the purrfect new ride!
LOIS - What did you do in your sewing room yesterday?
JUDI - What did you do in your sewing room yesterday?
VAL - What did you do in your sewing room yesterday?
MARY Q - And finally - what did you do in your sewing room yesterday?
I did nothing in my sewing room. We dropped Scott at the vet for the day, then I had chiropractor. Then went grocery shopping. Put all away, cleaned veggies, packaged meats, found sour milk in the fridge so made a clove cake (sorry, JANA) which uses sour milk. Fed the birds, the chickens, watered plants, washed sheets, remade bed. Just a ton of little things ate up my day. We picked Scott up at 5pm. Tex & Annette came over again so she could do more energy work on him. He laid at her feet all evening and he even begged food from her. We took that as a good sign. We had scrambled eggs and bacon for supper. He got a bite of egg.
This morning I have a mani/pedi appt at 9. Bill is getting a pedi, too. Scottie has vet appt at 10:30. I have hair appt at 11. It's going to be a tight morning. But this afternoon, I plan to make NYB #31. I never got a chance to go into my sewing room at all yesterday and as MQ would say, a day without sewing gives me the heebie jeebies! Supper is going to be parmesan chicken.
I hope we all see a little sunshine today!

Re: SATURDAY, March 15th, 2025
Good morning!
Glad to read , first thing a good report on Scottie. Yes, we did get the new mattress, in between snowflakes, yesterday. Daniel, Karlie and I went down around dinnertime. So I brought home a rotisserie chicken and did chicken, rice and asparagus. Still not enough carbs to keep Mr G's meter happy. It just went off with a low sugar warning, so he's up taking care of that.
So not 9nly did I change the sheets, I changed the mattress and washed everything! The bed got made in stages, until everything was dry! Now this morning, I'll finish cleaning up this room.
I was thinking about Irish the other day, and poof, Maryz let us know about her. What fun! Her kitty, Baby girl must really be confused with everything new! Including a new beau!
My Logan has a new , really a old, girl he's had a crush on for years too. Logan turned 16 in September and now this girl finally turned 16 as well, last week. Just in time for Prom! Logan asked and she said yes! They have been best friends since elementary school. There's a suggested rule, that most members of the church follow of not dating until 16, and that is a. group dates. So Logan follows that, and is very happy camper now! Prom is sometime in April.
Missed working in my Batt Cave yesterday. So that will be today. I've got kids in all directions here in the state, out camping, yes even in the winter and snow! They'll be back tonight.
Hugs, stay warm,, and lots of prayers!

Re: SATURDAY, March 15th, 2025
No subshine here good morning peeps. Rain and wind here too...but its ok,,I d have a list of back yard things to do but Ken is happy its raining and they cannot be done but never fear,,,,we have abasement storage room thaat is calling our name and an empty trash can down there,,,lots of ols paint cans and stuff to be rid of...heres hoping i can get him down there,,,he baulks and fusses a lot...we shall see...He does have a shop outside that is a (Liam) disaster,,,too but Liam has said he will come and clean it too...
I did finish test block on the embroidery quilt did a little motif and cut the hexi,,,I will cut a few more and try the y seams. and see if I realy want to continue...I have to say I really enjoyed stitching with the perl cotton...seems so much nicer than the floss...I bought some peel and stick patterns for the flowers. you cut them out peel off the paper and stick them to your fabric in the hoop. Stitch over the entire pattern then rinse with warm water and the paper pattern washes away leaving your stitches,, It looks pretty good.
Well I off to the storage room to see if I can irritate Ken...If I start throwing things in the can to go out he generally comes to see what I am throwing away,,,lol sneaky I am
Mary so glad your pup is doing better
Everyone have a great day, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,
It's very damp cloudy and chilly but this is March and the weather is crazy.
Nice to know that Scotty is feeling much better .
Mary z I didn't do anything in my room just yet I want to replace my cutting table but I haven't found what I'm looking for so that will be on the back burner.
I also want to get rid of these 2 cabinets and replace them also.
So it's in thinking stage this room is small and cluttered so that's what I want to do.
Today I have started going through fabric .
Also thanks for the update on Irish I always think of her on St Patrick's day.
Well that's it for all the news
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Windy and warm.
MaryZ, I hope Scottie continues to improve.
Yesterday at the QS, I spent my gift money on backing fabric for the quilt I need to make for my sister. There was a flowered fabric on the 50 % off rack that I had almost bought on Thursday. It was still there, so I bought it. It will make a good backing and enough for some blocks, too.
I'm going to try and sew the backing for the coverlet together today, I have it almost all ironed. Maybe I will see you at your machine later.

Re: SATURDAY, March 15th, 2025
Good morning Girls
Boy has Mother Nature played a trick on us! Yesterday it was 74*, windows were open, I was just about to break out the shorts--sunny and nice! Today it's 40* and snow is on the way! Had to shut up all the windows and turn the thermostat back up!! A planned trip to the Fabric Warehouse has been postponed!
Maryz... SO glad to hear that Scottie is improving!!! Hope that in a couple days -or sooner- that he will be all back to normal and running around your back yard chasing squirrels again. Doesn't it just feel weird to NOT get in the sewing and even run a few stitches on SOMETHING!!!
Jana... I suppose it's the snow you got yesterday that is headed our way. I'm not too worried--any snow we get today will be gone tomorrow- it's a typical Minnesota spring. I do find that as I age that I don't even like to leave the house if there is rain in forecast!
You know, I don't think it's totally not a bad idea for kids to kind of wait until 16 to date. I think that was kind of the rule in my house when I was 16!
Judi.... Do you have a Sherwin Williams paint store near you? They will take cans of old paint-no questions asked! Don't let Y seams scare you... they are easier than you think. A while back Valerie did a lotto block with Y seams and I was going to pass on it, but I tried it and it was really quite easy!
Lois.... You are looking for a new cutting table? I'll ask Kris where they got mine. I had one from Joann made by "Sullivan"---it was ok but not super sturdy and eventually just flat out broke. So the kids got me a new one for Christmas a couple years ago and it's wonderful! It's permanently set up in my kitchen.
Lyn... Interesting info on Janome machines. Years ago I had a gal that serviced my machine tell me to use only Janome bobbins and I did see they made a difference a teeny bit to the stitches. I did notice my Janome is fussy about the needle and does best with Schmetz. I can use prewound bobbins in my embroidery machine, but I never use them in the Janome. My neighbor Connie has a Janome Memory craft machine, that I'd love to get my hands on!!!
Chriss... Was it pretty easy to get your new internet set up? Sometimes we learn how to do things out of necessity!!! Luckily I have a tech guru (Shawn) that will help me out once in a while--when stuff gets over my head. And how is Mr. Elliott these days? Has he learned some new tricks! I forget when they start rolling back and forth. Sometimes I watch videos on FB of babies and they just crack me up!! Not much more fun than watching baby giggles!
Tina... As I was watching news on the computer this morning, they showed video from the high winds in Texas with the Semi's actually blowing over. That has to be just so scary!! To not be able to do anything to stop it!
Lori.... Sweet story that Dad remembers your Mom as "the love of his life". Right up to when my Dad passed, he was still just nuts about my Mom. He'd say "doesn't she just have the cutest butt" and my Mom would roll her eyes at him. One of my favorite memories!
Yesterday I ran to Target and re ordered new glasses. I just couldn't hand the distortion in the one pair I got and since you can return in 90 days I found another pair I like, so I'll cross my fingers that news ones will be better. Picked up a few groceries then came home to do a laundry. Sheets are in this morning and the washer just sang it's little tune so better in gear and throw them.
I did have an AH HA moment yesterday for the quilt I want to make for my niece Erin, so might go dig in the garage and see what fabrics I have on hand. Colors are greens, tans, browns so I'm think Maple Leaf blocks. Looked at Quilter's Cache patterns this morning and found a block there, but if y'all have any other suggestions... let me know!!
Time for more coffee!!
Wishing you all a Super Duper Saturday!

Re: SATURDAY, March 15th, 2025
Good morning everyone
We have the most wonderful rain! I'm so thankful!! It started raining about 2am and has been drizzling off and on. It should help the dust situation.
Maryz, I'm so glad Scotty is doing better, I know you two were worried about him, me too
Lyn, thanks for the needle info, I have 2 Janome machines, actually a 3rd one but it's not in working order. It's a little MC embroidery only machine and when we redid my sewing room a few years ago it got messed up some how. I'm wanting to give it away but feel bad that it's messed up and needs to be repaired.
MQ, I love your Dad story about your mom's butt

Lori, I love that your dad remembers your mom is the love of his life
so special.
Judi, LOL that's funny, go irritate Ken. I think Frankie does that with me LOL so I'll do something I don't want to do.
Jana, I think 16 is a good age for group dating, I totally agree with that.
I'm running late because I was reading a story about Taylor Sheridan and his Yellowstone series LOL I watch them all, bad words and all even though I'm not a cusser....I really like the storylines. And since it's raining and washing the dirt down I think it's the best time to clean my disgusting house! I hope it rains all day here!

Oh Maryz, Preston ate about half the fish and decided he didn't like it that much and to be honest it wasn't very good.....but he's game to try different kinds when I get them and see if he likes them better. He tried shrimp when they went to California for their first trip and he eats it when they eat somewhere that has it. I've tried lobster and like the taste but not the texture.... I'd like to try crab some day....
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need

Lois - you might try Home Depot for a cutting table. We got a butcher block wooden topped table for Michael there. He uses it as a worktable to hold his chop saw. What's really great is that the table is adjustable height! He can match the height to his table saw,. It's about 6 feet long and 30 inches or so wide. It's a Husky brand, I think. I also think there was different widths and lengths. It looks nice too.

Afternoon!
Storms yesterday did no damage in our little area. We were Blessed.
Today was up early, supper in crockpot, feed & water to chickens, grocery shopping, came to DGD and Granddog. Babysitting while kids go look at a living room chair. Then we will all have supper here. Rolls are raising. Still need to make muffins for DS1...no nap today.

Lois, I bought my adjustable cutting table from All Brands, online. It's very sturdy with 2 shelves under the main body. It's a little pricier at $340. But it's a good table. If you want to look, here's the number on it: UPC: 739301384310
