Good Morning Lois I see the time you posted was the exact time I got up and looked at the clock. Ken was headed to the rink so I got up...I had big plans for today but with the time change my body says maybe not...but duty calls,, the kids at the auto tech class did so much work on Kens jeep and they didnt really charge labor at all it is a learning thing for them but there is a price,,,,they want home made chocolate chip cookies...( according to Liam) so today i will bake them for them...Laundry is done and put away so I will bake and try to get a few appts and phone calls made. I will start the spring cleaning too...one room at a time...
I do have binding and label to put on the country road quilt and finish it. I will research a yoyo quilt too...but I did find a pattern I really like called "Garden Friends Honey comb," By MSQC. I bought the pattern and have everything I need,,,Blocks are done with embroidery and I have tons of free patterns I printed so I can stirch away,,,Im sure this block could be done with an embroidery machine but I like hand work,
Well that is all I can think of today,,,I should have all the cookies baked by the time everything opens for appt for my hair and toes and a few other appts to be made...I also need to get all the tax papers together and get that ready, Hope you have a great Monday,,,we will be in the low 60s today too...so FLorida sends its weather home with us...

Good morning to all-it has rained for the last few hours and should (hopefully) for the whole day. The fires are calming now but are still being watched for any flare up. 1 woman was arrested for starting it with her fire pit. She didn't have any hose or water bucket near her--get this--her neighbors told her NOT to light it but she ignored them. The area was under a DO NOT BURN alert. STUPID PEOPLE!!!!
Yesterday, I couldn't even get Sunday to appear on the community site at all. But today it appears. POOF! gone one day and shows this morning. Is MARYQ up to her jokes again??
I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Coffee is ready and time to get my day started.

Morning
Repeat of last Monday..friend coming over with her 5 kids, DDIL with DGD....chaos will ensue. I made chocolate sourdough muffins yesterday, kids will finish them off today. I also need to go to the amish market nearby for apple filling to make turnovers with.
Tomorrow I have appointment with eye doctor then we will go to Baker Seed company for garden seeds. The company only an hour away, and eye doctor half way there!
Have a sew great day

Re: Monday March 10,2025
Good morning,
I am late today - I showered before I came here because I have an appt right after my walk this morning.
DIANE - were any homes lost in your fire? What an idiot woman to have started her fire even after neighbors' warnings, not to mention the fire ban. What are people thinking??
LOIS - your house is going to be so lightweight after ridding yourself of so much stuff that it just might up and float away! You started a second pillow? Is it just like the first one?
JUDI - what a great class Liam is attending! Is this through high school? Vocational? We need more programs like this! Checked out your pattern. Nice! QIAD also has a honeycomb quilt pattern, too, but it looks different. I also think curbside shopping is a cheaper way to shop. We have done it quite a bit while in Texas and they've always chosen meat and produce very well. Sorry about the spring cleaning. Blame my sister - they are coming to visit and will be here a week from today. Their house is always spotless - even the garage is spotless even though he is always doing car/truck/ATV work out there. And our house hasn't been cleaned since last October! So I really had to get with the program. But cheer up! I only have our bedroom/bath and the garage to go!
LORI - doing embroidery while sitting with your dad is a nice thing. I used to do that, too, when I sat with my dad. We'd have a Mariners game on and he would snooze off and on. Daddy said he enjoyed it because sitting and doing handwork while watching the game was what Mom used to do.
VAL - I hope you beat your MC into submission. Could you tell us the name of your quilt so I can Google it? I'd like to look at it again but can't recall the name. I've had a few NYB blocks I just had to walk away from and sleep on it. So far, it's always worked out eventually, though the more difficult blocks are coming up this week.
TINA - I agree they probably should pick a time - standard or daylight - and stick with it - no changes. But personally, I don't really mind the changes. And not living in a hot climate (I hadn't thought about that before), I prefer more daylight in the evenings. So it really sounds as if no one is going to be completely happy no matter how it goes!
CHRISS - Wish you had been here for soup last night. It was tasty! You could have had Mary Q's share!
Did you buy your new oven at Costco? Sounds like a purrfect solution for you. Glad you had an outdoor day. A day outside refreshes my soul. I could probably easily get by with 1 dress and no skirts. But I love them! So I keep some and occasionally wear them just to wear them, even around the house. But I did let go of a few old favorites so someone else could use them. I don't throw any clothes away. Even old worn out stuff, Goodwill and a few others shred them and sell them to insulation companies. Your dentist's plan sounds like a great option. We don't have insurance. We just go twice a year for cleanings and about once every 10 years have a crown. Bill gets his crowns and fillings in Mexico for the last 18 years for about 20% of the cost. I prefer my dentist that I know. Though he is retiring this year.
MARY Q - What don't you like about the fabric you were planning for your baby girl quilt? Color? Shade? Print? It probably seems like a coals to Newcastle situation, but you might have to just go looking for new fabric. Maybe you can find some little girls' fabrics at that big warehouse you like to go to. And have you ever actually tasted split pea soup??
JANA - I bet your 'failed' eclairs were delicious! Isn't this how many new recipes are born? Mr. G would be very frustrated at our house. We have a big clock over our living room fireplace. We have to bring in the big ladder to get it down. So we just don't. It's set on DST all the time. We have a couple weeks in the fall and again in the spring that overlap the time changes and we just "remember" to take that into consideration when checking the time. I had trouble with QIAD site over the weekend, too. S L O W. But I never got the "moderator" message.
VAL! Only 3 more patient visits! How long do you spend with each patient, on average? Because you are down to counting the hours! Your patients will miss you. I especially like our little oven in summer time because the big oven heats the house even more. If we are having a particularly hot spell I even take the little oven out to the deck to keep the house as cool as possible. No A/C here in most homes.
FLO - have fun with the kids today! Is this the gal you are teaching to sew?
I've been so busy with cleaning my NYB has slowed some, but I'm still making progress. I think today will be block #26. The halfway point is #27. But I'm still spring cleaning. Today will be bedroom and master bath. After this, the garage. I have a hubby who just doesn't see mess (at least I assume he doesn't), which is generally a good thing for me. But I have never, ever known him to clean the garage by himself. Or even think of it by himself. Or clean anything by himself for that matter. He will do it if I declare it cleaning day. And he will "help" with anything I ask. But doing it on his own will never happen. ISo, this week it will be done, come hell or high water. I also need to start planning some meals for my sister's 10-day visit. But for four of those days she and I will be in Alaska (Mar 21-25) for Gene's birthday (shh.... it's a surprise so don't say anything!) and the boys will stay home and feed themselves. And speaking of feeding, I think we'll have a second round with the split pea soup. It was really good.
Have a great day!

Good morning Girls
Here we are... Monday again!! Supposed to get up to 64 here today, do you think it's safe to put away the winter coat?
Lois... .Do you have one of those flat grills--I think they are "Blackstone" (I don't remember ) My Shawn has one and loves it and cooks on it all the time. He's even been known to go out in the winter and throw a steak on it!! We had burgers on it last night!
Judi... Welcome home!! I'd say you got off really well, if you just have to bake cookies for your automotive team!! Nice to be home? Sounds like you have lots of thing to keep you busy now that you are home!
Diane.. When somebody starts a fire like that, after they have been told NOT TO---do they get a ticket or a fine or anything? I wonder if the city fined them like $1000. if that would motivate them to NOT start a fire!!! I think a lot of stupid people forget there are laws for a REASON!! ( but them I'm finding more and more just plain stupid people in the world)
Flo...There's a big Amish community near where Viv lives in WI. They make pies etc to sell at the big rummage sale---but I have to say-and this is being kind---they taste awful!
I hope the apple filling you get from them is good.
Maryz... It's not so much the taste of peas I hate, it's the texture. Kind of like Liver. My dad always made me eat at least 6 peas and I swore I would never make my kids eat things they didn't like. And because I never liked peas, I never had them in the house. Now my boys love peas! Go figure! I'll have to send you a picture of the baby girl fabric.... it's pretty and it's pink but a little too flowery for my taste, but it would probably be fine! I'm hoping to get borders on today. I think it's a proven fact that men just don't SEE! must be in the DNA!
Chriss... Now that's a recipe I can get behind... chicken, onion, bacon (not sure about the beans--again a texture thing) with rotel! I might have to add those ingredients to my grocery list.
Lori... I do like getting the hour back in the fall.. I figure it's an extra hour for sewing!
Need to run a few errands today. Before I forget I better take tax papers to my CPA and while I'm out I'll drop off some items at the thrift store near their office. And you know that when you drop off stuff you are required to go and look for stuff! Grandson Brennen is home from college so he's going to stop by this afternoon and help me with a couple "tall person" chores in the garage---that's what I call them when I need a person to reach a high shelf.
So if I am going to sneak in some sewing time today, I better get going!
Have a great day everyone!

Sunny and 52°.
I didn't try and get on yesterday because it took forever just to refresh the page. I helped set up for the gospel jam, we do that in the morning. Then went to the jam in the afternoon. I got some more hexi's glued and clipped together while listening.
Any chance one of you has a toy sewing machine, KAYanEE SEW MASTER, that is battery operated? I have researched on line for photos and any info. There's a wire missing and I'm trying to figure out where it hooks to after it leaves the battery post.
Today I have some paperwork to sort and then try to get online with social security or on the phone. I also have to take the Jeep to Discount Tire. Yesterday I pulled a lawn chair between Jeep and MH, to sit out of the wind, and found a nail in the front driver side tire.
Happy Monday to all.
Lyn

Good morning!
Looks to be a very nice day here. Glad for that, as I wait out in the car while Mr G does PT. Around my part of the world, not quite time to put away the winter coat just yet. Getting close.
Figured out the eclair issue. I used Sarah's eggs, which was great, except her chickens lay huge eggs! I didn't take that into account, so I had too much egg to flour ratio. Baking is a science and I blew that big time! So I punted that whole mess to the garbage and quickly made a old fashioned jello poke cake with orange jello. Topped with whipped cream. Grandma was very much loved by the grands!
But my kitchen looked like a tornado had gone through and I knock a plate on the floor and it went poof, shattered into pieces. Right before leaving, so I left it until we got back. Mr G took care of the plate, I did the kitchen. All nice and clean.
When it comes to garage cleaning, the best one at keeping it clean, is Daniel. He has three that he keeps up. Everything has a place and he keeps it there. He has storage slat wall systems in all of the three that keeps the tools visible and therefore useful.
Now when it comes to not seeing, it's Mr G hands down! Yesterday, after church, he was changing out of his suit and white shirt. Now he carries a small blood sugar monitor in his shirt pocket, at all times and he doesn't pay attention to where he sets it down. Then its panic city, until its found. It's only about 2x3 and less than a half inch thick, and its white. Most commonly he puts it on my white fireplace mantle. I find it there all the time, but I first let him fuss, looking, he cleans as he looks, then I find it in about 2 minutes.
Time to scoot, Mr fussy wants food,
Hugs,
Jana

Those of you that go to Costco, do you have an egg line only? I went this morning, and it was crazy. The egg line snakes it's way though the entire store for eggs being distributed at the back of the store. All the isles are blocked on one side so you can't get into the line any other way. And on top of that the store was packed at 1000 when they opened. I don't even buy my eggs there. It made for a very trying shopping experience.
Jana, Bill suffers from that affliction as well. My response when he can't find something, "Oh well." I'm done getting up to show him it's right in front of his face. And yes, egg size does matter when baking.
Lyn, bummer about the tire, but good thing you noticed it before you had to be somewhere.
Maryq, Nice of Brennen to help you with the tall stuff. I have little step stools throughout the house.
Maryz, hand embroidery is a great take along project as long as you don't need too many colors of thread. Are you excited about your up coming trip? Seems like you were just there.
Flo, have a fun day with the kids.
Diane, you can't fix stupid. Too bad it started a big fire. Hope the rain keeps up to put it out completely.
Judi, that is a cute pattern. What size are the hexies?
Lois, enjoy your nice days. I like to sit on the patio with the furry ones when it's nice out. They just like to hang out with me.
Chriss, did you get your piles of dead things burned?
Costso run is done. Don't know that I ever want to go back if it's that crazy. I did the shopping online and pick up for my dad and brother. When it was just my dad, I would pick his things up when I went shopping. It saves a little time, but I do like to read labels and I buy a lot of organic foods. So I'd rather do it in person. The nurse will be out to see dad in a bit, so I need to head over there. I don't know what else is on my list for today. Dinner will be soup and bread.
Have a lovely day.

Re: Monday March 10,2025
Good afternoon, what a crazy day so far. Turned on my laptop and my cursor went into hiding and my touchpad isn't working. Thankfully I have a touch screen so can use and try to trouble shoot my problem.
Went to my dentist and found out I get to have $750 worth of dental work done, that's after the discounts through the plan I have with them which cost me $350 today. The dental work will be done on Thursday.
Called Verizon because I got a text telling me I could have a free iphone16 with my trade in, I did have to pay the tax and startup fee of $107. Found out that I could save $20 each month by bundling my phone and internet through them. They are sending the phone and internet devices which will be here on Wednesday.
So it's been a see saw kind of a day. There is a country song that says "sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug" Today I have been both.
Lois, I have so been wanting a bbq burger. Not sure why but my burgers are never as good as they are when eating out. Wht are you bbq'ing?
Judi, sure hope those cookies let you ride in the front seat of that jeep. What a great deal, all that work for a batch of cookies. Bet Ken was happy to have the work done.
Diane, here we had a fire start because someone decided to mow at the wrong time. He had the "no one is going to tell me what to do on my own property" attitude. He now has a lot of time to rethink his actions.
Flo, yay for a house full of fun. What ages are the kids coming over to play? It's good to be the fun house to go to.
Maryz, yay for getting so much done. I do wish I was there for pea soup. Sure would have been better than the salad I had for dinner. I have no reason to travel as far as Mexico so instead just have dental work done in Mariposa and doctor stuff in Merced. If Bill could tell me how to find my cursor arrow I would be overjoyed. Stinkin' technology. I had a messy garage, then cleaned and purged. Then my dad came and messed it up and added things to it, so I cleaned it again, he messed it up again and the unending cycle continues
Maryq, I don't notice the texture of foods if it's all mixed up. I really like pretty much everything. Nice to have tall people around you. I get stopped in stores and asked to get something down from a high shelf sometimes ( I'm 5'8')
Lyn, Perhaps you tube could help with that sewing machine? Sorry about the nail. It was breezy here yesterday. They said it was a burn day but I was too chicken to burn, Perhaps tomorrow.
Jana, I'd put that monitor in an eyeglass case in his shirt pocket. Love a nice clean kitchen. Jerry had done most of the housework here since I was still working. I have to say I am kind of proud of myself for keeping up with it. Although one person does make less ofa mess than two
Lori, I also like to read labels and check expiration dates. I always think that the person picking out my food might not pick the freshest whatever. Yes, our Costco has an egg line. It does move quickly, but I was also able to get around the store and get the things I needed without looking near the eggs. Nope didn't burn anything, Perhaps in the morning if it is a burn day. If not tomorrow it will get moved to Friday, depending on the burn day report. Hope dad is doing well and that you get to chat with the nurse, I hope things are being communicated better.
I am not overjoyed with this curser thing. It's driving me nuts. I'll have to look at you tube. Dang it.
Not quite sure what will be for dinner, perhaps burgers. I have leftover roast and hamburger thawed out.
You all have a great night.
