Good morning,

Another fairly nice day here today - 52* and some sun. I would prefer 72* and some sun, but considering that Mary Q was mentioning snow the other day, I'll take my 52* and be thankful!

LOIS - Sometimes we need a slump. I think it's Ma Nature's way of getting us to recharge when we need it. So I say, grab a good book, a cuppa, a cat, and a quilt and enjoy your slump! I just might take a slump day today, too!

JUDI - Today is your laundry/packing day. Will you cook one last meal or go out tonite? Do you carry a cooler in the car so you can take any leftover foods home?

JANA - Ooooh, a million bucks is a lot of bucks to mislay! Does Sarah think it was one lump some missing or dibs and dabs? I'm sure if it can be found Sarah is the one to do it. I'm with Mr. Grumpy Pants re the confuser.

TINA - So glad you are getting your PT! I sure hope it helps. I didn't think you had west-facing windows - maybe in your bedroom? I think my whole house would be encased in plastic if I lived there.

MARY Q - That's a sweet pattern for a little girl! I've never been in a real blizzard but some of my family (both sides!) came from your area - and some still live there. I've read the Laura Ingalls Wilder books and she wrote in one of the books that there was a blizzard and the Ingalls family went to a neighbor's to ride out the storm. And when Bill and I visited my relatives in Mankato back in 1997, they told us that the neighbors were our family. True or not, it makes a good family story and raises the question - could you and I be cousins??

CHRISS - Interesting about the weed killer. I don't know about using Oven Cleaner in a shower (but I might try it on a small spot!) but we use it to clean the soot off the inside of glass doors on our wood stoves (we have two - upstairs and down). The are over 30 yrs old and the glass still sparkles. And we've had Tina's chili rellenos - better than any restaurant! You should go next time she makes them. Autumn's library gave out flower seeds one year. It's amazing what libraries offer these days!

VAL - Great news that you only will probably work 3 of your last, now, 8 days! It's going to feel weird at first - more like you are on a really long weekend. It took about 3 months for my retirement to sink in. But beware - everyone I know that is retired - and that is everyone I know - is busier now than they ever were before they retired! It's great!

I didn't get to a lot of my list yesterday, but I did accomplish quite a bit of other stuff anyway. 4 loads of laundry, and I finished NYB #22. Then I put labels on Amara's birthday quilt (Be You, Little One) and Autumn's Twilight Creatures. I auditioned big boxes to get the package ready to mail - both of those quilts plus a third one that was Autumns but she included it in the quilt show at her library, and one of the folks who helped pack up my quilts didn't realize that one was supposed to stay. So - 3 quilts, a photobox crammed with 7 new little summer outfits for Scabooch's birthday, and half-a-dozen skirt hangers that were also Autumn's and got mistakenly packed at the quilt show. It took me quite a while to find the right box and get everything to fit. Then I cleaned my quilting room. Just need to vacuum it today. I also pulled out the only quilt I have in the quilting queue right now and draped it over the quilting frame, my hexie Grandmothers Flower Garden. I posted a photo of it last summer. Trying to decide what kind of quilting it should have? Bubbles? Old fashioned simple meander? Simple flower? I'm taking ideas and suggestions. . . .

I texted Becca to check up on her. She said she has been busier than ever with church, family, friends, but she said she reads the forum often and says 'hi'. But all is OK in her life. I also texted Irish but haven't gotten a reply. I know she did get new flooring in her house maybe a month ago?

Today's plan - Vacuum the quilting and sewing rooms, but then I have a massage appt at 11:00. My massage therapist, David, is back after his spinal surgery a month ago. I don't know what I'll do this afternoon. Maybe take it easy, maybe sew, maybe clean the garage or the laundry room.

We received an e-mail yesterday from the developers who bought Vicki's house next door saying they finally got the permit to demolish the house and that will probably happen this week or next. You may remember a homeless couple moved into it while we were in Texas - and the guy was arrested for failure to appear for a court date regarding burglary charges. Then he was released, came back to Vicki's house and OD'd. So - sad to see as Vicki was such a good friend and neighbor before her Huntington's Chorea got so bad, but it will be good to finally have it gone. It's an attractive nuisance and practically falling down and is only about 70 feet from us.

Hoping you all have a great day today!

Good day to All.

MaryZ, Relax after that massage. Good to hear that David is back. Thanks for update on Becca. Garry has a friend that was raised in Mankato. You have any relatives with the last name of Cooper?

Tina, I hope PT helps and I also hope you told the person that it hasn't been Xrayed yet. The plastic on the windows should help, but a chore to put up.

Chriss, How do you cook your spaghetti squash? I rinse it off, then I take a knife and stab it about a dozen time randomly spaced out. I put it on a couple paper towels in the microwave for 5-6 minutes, depending on size, then turn over and another 5-6 minutes. It cuts open easily, spoon out seeds and grab the fork. I do the same with acorn squash.

Judi, Safe travels.

Yesterday was beading and just like sewing, sometimes there's ripping out. I had to remove 5 rows. I should have known better, I designed the pattern several years ago. On the positive side, it's nice to sit with ladies and visit as we all work on different beading projects.

Today Diana and I are hitting antique row in Corpus. There's one street that has most of the antique shops. Of course there will be lunch, not sure where. I really don't need anything, but fun to look and spend time with a friend.

Hope you have a good day.
Lyn

The fire now has claimed almost 2100 acres. Still we are lucky and the people nearest to the site are home and safe. What a mess.

Joe had a treatment yesterday and not feeling well since then. Thankfully he won't get another round for 6 months if his scans come down clean and clear. Again thank you for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers.

Good morning!

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring! More today!

Not much here. Sarah did find the million dollars and still has a bunch of other stuff to find and label straight. The previous bookkeepers, suffice to say, didn't know how to bookkeep properly. Oh, just put it here or there, no big deal. So Sarah is fixing all that. I did play in the Batt Cave for awhile too. Daniel and Karlie are heading to California this weekend. The Blue Angels are performing. Daniel's golfing buddy is over fire at the airports in Sacramento and gets special VIP tickets. Karlie has seen the show before, loves it, . So today I need groceries and playtime in my Batt Cave. And the big accomplishment is, that one stubborn pound from a mid goal is gone! It has been a very stubborn pound! Now on to a new mid weight goal. Slow and steady, I'll get there! I pick achievable targets, a small bite at a time.

My chores are done and my entertainment is out doing his,

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good morning everyone 🌞
Frankie got the plastic on the West windows, 1 is a small one in our bedroom and the other is our bathroom window. Schools are all closed and I believe the City offices are too, they actually prepared for this one. We are under the extreme dust advisory from 11am to 7pm. We're staying inside except Frankie will take care of the chickens afternoon care at 3...... that's their second feeding of the day and egg gathering time.
I can't stay long right now, I'm off to do my foot exercises so I can get in the habit of doing them.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need 🙏
Tina

Good morning. It's a beautiful morning. Our sky is a brilliant blue with white fluffy clouds floating around. It's chilly, but gorgeous. We should see a sprinkle here and there but nothing worth sharing.

My experiment of weed eating during the winter wasn't worthwhile. It sort of just left some mud because of the rain. I'll stick with my old routine of weed eating in the spring.

Some time ago I bought a little toaster oven. I wanted it to toast and broil as well as be an oven, but it's too small. So I'm looking for something bigger. I'm pretty sure my bbq days are over. Just not worth it to mess with the charcoal and all for one person. Broiling will be my go to. I don't do a lot of oven cooking so a larger toaster oven/ convection oven is more my speed.

Valerie, the chemical I bought for weeds is what they use in the orchards. It's supposed to be stronger than roundup which can still be bought everywhere. I didn't know Sears still did repairs. That's a store I wish was still open. Hope they show up and fix you on Friday. We also got a new weather man last year and the weather hasn't been the same since. I would say that we never had these issues when Angelo did the weather.

Lori, I bet Goodwill loved seeing you show up with all those clothes. I used to buy all the colors when I found a top I liked, but now I only shop at the thrift stores. Sorry your dad is still feeling pain but glad they are working on managing it. I really like spaghetti squash to use in place of pasta. It's not as watery as zucchini. I've been looking at a recipe to try it "loaded" cheese, bacon, chives etc. It could be good.

Tina, thanks, I'll put some Dawn in the sprayer. Well? wht do you think of PT? Does it sound like it might be the thing to "get you back on your feet" Thanks for the chili rellenos, sorry I didn't make it. Hope the plastic on the windows helps. Jerry made wood frames and covered them in a thick plastic called visqueen. It kept the rain from blowing into the screened breezeway but the plastic is not see through and I want to see before I go outside.

Maryz, glad the work will beign on Vickies house. What is the developer putting in to take it's place? I think I will try the vinegar and baking soda in the shower first. I do need to buy some of both, I use it in my sink drains every so often.

Judi, Sounds like Ken is very ready to get home. Happy packing and safe travels is my wish for you.

Lyn, I cut my spaghetti squash in half, remov the seeds and put it in the microwave. I've seen many ways to cook it but this is the easiest. I wonder if it would change the flavor to bake it, but haven't wondered enough to actually try that method. I've never tried acorn squash, I'll have to google recipes and see if it's something I want to try. Have fun hitting the antique shops. In downtown Sonora there are a lot of antique shops, it's a fun place for antiques and thrift stores.

Diane, great news about the fire, hope everyone has a home to go back to.

Jana, yay for getting rid of that pound. I know exactly what you mean about it being stubborn. You definatly will get there and I'm glad you aren't giving up. High five to you.

It's raining now, guess our sprinkles will be a little more than that because instead of just seeing the rain I can hear it. and my beautiful blue sky is now grey.

I have no plans today, guess I'll have some breakfast and go from there. I have some rotisserie chicken and bacon in the fridge, perhaps I'll put that in my leftover spaghetti squash for dinner. one spaghetti squash makes a lot of meals.

Happy Thursday, hope it's a fun day,
Chriss

Chriss
Someone once told me a combination of dawn dish soap, water and vinegar don’t know proportions was good for cleaning fiberglass showers. She said spray it on wait a bit, wipe down.
Has anyone else used this solution?
Loving all the quilts you are all working on.
Still making charity tops.
Prayers to all,
Hugs and blessings

I bought a garden sprayer and use one gallon of white vinigar, one cup of salt, and a few drops of dawn soap spray the weeds (Non toxic and really works) It is not permanent the weeds die within a day and stay gone for awhile...I spray once a week my drtiveway cracks and anywhere I dont want weeds...if you dont repeat they will come back in a week or two...but this is cheap and it doesnt kill people like round up does...I lost 2 friends to Lymphoma who where avid round up users...both families recieved a settlrment from Roundup for their lawsuit..I have one guy I know who is still suffering from it but he is still alive...xxxooo

Maryz, sounds like that box is packed full of fun things. I bet the little miss will love them.

Judi, hope you enjoyed your last day of vacation.

Hi Tinab. Good to see you post.

Tina, I hope that will keep out the fine dirt. Glad you are getting into a routine with your foot exercises.
Sure hope that does the trick for you.

Lyn, beading sounds fun. My grandma did a bit of beading. I have her beads, but I didn't keep the loom.

Diane, maybe you'll get some rain to help with the fires. That's what happened here in CA. It took a while, but once it rained it put everything out.

Chriss, anything with cheese is good with me. Maybe you could find a convection/toaster oven. My friend has one and she likes it. Thanks for the tip on cooking spaghetti squash.

It's another cold rainy day, but that okay with me. We need as much rain as we can get. Dad seemed to be better today. Not yelling that he hurt. They upped to drugs quite a bit. I did a little work at his house this afternoon. I've been drawing this afternoon as well. I'm working on an embroidery project I want to make. Dinner will be Orange chicken and rice and a veggie.

Have a lovely evening.
