WEDNESDAY, March 5th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Mar 05, 2025 5:19 am

Good morning,

Today's the day! Laundry day! Move over, Lois, cuz I've got a growling mountain of it to do!

JUDI - how was your dinner last night with your friends? Today is your last relax day, isn't it? Clean and pack tomorrow and leave Friday? What route do you plan to take home?

DIANE - how is the fire situation? We aren't getting too much news here about your fires. How is Joe? How many more treatments does he have to go? Four?

LOIS - did you set your pillow aside until your threads arrive? I usually use Gutterman for applique and buy it when it's on sale at Joann's. Oh well. Guess I won't be doing that any longer. I'm purging as I go through my house this week. So far I have 2 big cartons in the car for donation and when I get to my closet, my neighbor and her twin daughters take all I get rid of and then pass on what they don't want. I don't have to throw out very much stuff at all.

TINA - Glad you got all that dirt cleaned up. Guess we'll be bumping hips in the laundry room today.

JANA - way to find the silver lining in your big dental adventure! But if I were told "soft foods" my go-to's would be ice cream, pudding, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, etc. No weight loss here! I was wondering if you ever finished your JN quilt. You only had to put the sections together, didn't you?

CHRISS - did you get dad's place all cleaned? I bet he's grateful. I bet it feels good to be heading into "planting season". I've tried tomatoes so many times and get nothing for my $$ and effort, so I've only done flowers in pots the last few years, and this year I REALLY cheated and bought pots at Costco that are pre-planted with begonia bulbs. Just add water. I got three for myself and one for a birthday present for a friend who loves flowers but who has a hard time getting around in her yard anymore.

MARY Q - Did you decide on the baby girl quilt? Does it have to be dusty pink? Could it be a coordinating color like dusty green and cream? How about making a quilt of Sunbonnet Sues all in different pinks? You like making Sues. I wouldn't be able to get rid of your mom's stainless steel bowls either. I have a small beautiful set of my gramma's bowls, too delicate to actually use, so they are in my curio cabinet. With a note about where they came from. But I have a set of four Pyrex bowls from the fifties - the yellow, green, red, & blue bowls that most of our mom's had. My sister has Mom's set but I've collected an identical set over the years and I love them. The clear bowls that I'm passing on came from a friend who was purging HER kitchen. I'm not attached to them. :D And yes, Bill likes kidney beans in his spaghetti sauce. It's a cheaper protein than meat and (for him) a comfort food holdover from when he was a kid and didn't realize they were poor and couldn't afford meat every night. BTW, Autumn also has a clotting issue with her blood and takes a baby aspirin every day.

LYN - I am the same - I want to do handwork while I'm listening to things. I can't just sit. One reason I don't enjoy concerts - Can you see us at a rock concert with everyone jumping around and us sitting there with our hexies and yoyo's? lol!!

FLO - that was quite a kid crowd you had! What ages? The older I get the more I love little kids and even the noise they make.

VAL - 9 more days! and only 7 of them are work days, right? πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

LORI - how are things with Dad? Did you finally get his caregivers on the same page as you?

Yesterday I got everything done that I planned - kitchen, main bath, hallway. And I had enough time left to finish block #21. Once I figured it out it wasn't so bad. I have #22 set up - paper pieces and fabrics are ready to go. It's a much easier one. Today's plan is to clean and dust the stairway and entry (split level house), do laundry, and clean downstairs family room where we spend our winter evenings. Lots of dust waiting for me there since I haven't dusted since October! Bill will help as I can't move the furniture by myself. I also want to get labels on Amara's and Aut's quilts so I can pack up the box that is getting mailed to their house. I'm putting scalloped potatoes and pork chops into the crockpot this morning so the smell of supper will be temping us all day long. I already can't wait!

Take care!

Good morning,

I already finished my wash for today so now that chore is done.
I'm kinda in a slump today so I don't know what I want to do.
It's supposed to rain after lunch but that's ok I didn't plan on going anywhere.
I guess I should finish my bedroom so I guess that's what the plan for today.

Well that's all the news from here.
I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lous

Good morning!

Cloudy and looking very gray outside. A big storm is due in today, so that will make a good stay in day. I sneak in the laundry room, in between the rest of y'all. I won't take up too much space.

The new laptops arrived and made it as far as the front hall space. Sarah was busy and will hopefully find time today. She was working on a company's books and someone didn't post a million dollars correctly and so it's lost somewhere and she's searching for it. A dollar here, a dollar there and soon were talking really big money! :) Too bad it's not lost in my account!

After the growling bear is fed, I'll be in the Batt Cave.

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good Morning All

Oh what a fun surprise I woke up to this morning! SNOW!!! Doesn't look like it's snowing right now but I think we got a couple inches. The good thing about it, it will all be gone by the weekend.

Maryz... Now that you mention it, I should probably start laundry today too! But then again, I can put it off another day or two. I did find a new pattern for the baby quilt and I THINK I might even have some of the fabric on hand for it. It's called "Loving Wishes" by Maple Cottage Designs. I was googling on Pinterest for ideas and this popped it and it just hit me as perfect. I'm coming to your house for supper... it sounds so good!!! I thought of you last night when I tuna salad sandwich for supper!

Lois.... Sorry to hear you feel kind of "punk" today. That's what my gramma used to called when she just didn't feel so hot. Do you need some retail therapy? A trip to Hobby Lobby (when it's not raining)

Judi... There's just no place like home is there? Even tho I'm not a fan of cooking, there is just something about being able to work in your own kitchen. About 40 years ago we all lived my folks for a while and the biggest thing I missed was cooking with my own pots and pans! Silly isn't it!

Jana... Enjoy your day in the Batt Cave!!! I'm so with Mr. G on owning the programs instead of subscriptions. I think it's a racket that you have to pay every year. I have an anti-virus that I pay for every year, and then I can get a Pop up from them all the time for an Add-On!! Why is all the stuff not included in the one annual fee.

Chriss.... You too? Extra 10 pounds found their way to me as well. I did pretty well over Christmas until I got a real craving for sugar cookies and baked some for just me. Hiding them in the freezer didn't help as you know how easy it is to grab a few !!

Tina.... You haven't blown away yet have you? I saw the video on Facebook. No wonder they close the roads! Add snow to that mix and you'll get an idea of Minnesota in a blizzard!!

time to fly here, need more coffee and then I'm headed to the sewing room. Need to tame some of the projects flying around here. Made 5 little bags for Katie's project yesterday and will sew a few more today. Now that I have the hang of my overlock stitch foot for my sewing machine they go pretty fast!

Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday!

Good morning everyone 🌞
We're going to have a really nice day! Laundry is already going and the sprinklers are washing the dirt off the dead grass so the dogs don't track more in, they do get their feet dried before coming inside. I got good news Monday, my PT was approved and no out of pocket expense just the copay, I'm going today.
Maryz, I don't think I get everything finished that I plan.....you rock!
Lois, rain you say...... can you send some to me please?
Judi, it's nice to get away but so nice to get back home ❀️
Jana, rain hasn't arrived yet but I'm still hoping. I hope Sarah finds the money.
Maryq, I'd take snow over the dirt I think.
I'm on the 2nd load of laundry and just 1 more to go and I need to water outside. Tomorrow is supposed to be bad winds and dirt again. I can't just leave the dirt, it affects my breathing and my sanity πŸ˜‚πŸ€£
I think I'll make Chile rellenos for supper.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need πŸ™
Tina

Breaking News.... Frankie just said he's going to put plastic over the windows outside that are facing West! That will help a ton!

Good morning. Happy wet Wednesday. It started raining sometime last night and is supposed to continue until sometime tonight.

Yesterday I got my dad's house cleaned, did a little shopping, and today I will clean my bathrooms. The house sure stays cleaner with just me and Moose here.

So here's stupid. I went to Tractor Supply because I wanted weed killer. I want to kill the weeds between my fence and the street so I don't have to weed eat. I found out that I need to take a class and get a card from the state agriculture department to use this concentrated weed killer. I told the girl, I'm only killing the weeds between my fence and the road, just a strip of weeds. Oh, she says, then you don't need to have a class and get a card. So, if I lie (which I didn't) I can put weed killer in the ground but if I am putting it all over my property, I need the class. Same exact chemical. They did put my name and address in a book that keeps track incase the authorities show up and want to see how much of this chemical I really am using. Crazy.

Maryz, yum, scalloped potatoes. I also had spaghetti yesterday, and have enough leftover for tonight and probably tomorrow. I am looking forward to planting tomatoes. Last year the garden didn't yield anything. This year I am starting with all new soil and hoping that will help. I can't plant till March is almost over. I have two plans. I will start some seeds in the window sill and buy a couple of plants. Our library has seeds you can take home. Different flowers and veggies. I've also saved seeds from tomatoes I have had, hoping I can grow them, we will see.

Lois, sorry about the slump. You could bake cookies and put on the coffee pot and we could all come for a visit.

Judi, I prefer to cook and eat my own meals too. As much as I love to eat at the Elks when dad asks it is not good for my waist. I'm thankful he hasn't asked in a while. Enjoy your dinner with family.

Jana, hope those computers get past the hall soon. I missed it, when does your dental work start?

Maryq, I went into the grocery store yesterday and they have these 5 inch squares of cake you can buy. they were on sale buy one get one free. I stayed away from them. I so love the carrot cake, but none made it into my cart. For me it's taking too large a portion and the sugar. ugh. Loving wishes is a very sweet baby girl pattern. cute. I love tuna salad, drop some off here on your way to MZ's. I'm going to Tina's for chili rellenos.

Tina, I'm so glad your PT was approved. What a huge blessing. Between that and the plastic over the windows it just keeps getting better and better for you. Make an extra chili relleno for me, it's my favorite.

Lyn, I'm going to watch that link you sent me and give it a shot. Thanks

I need to figure out what to use to clean my fibergalss shower. Someone told me to use oven cleaner, but tht seems like a crazy idea. Any hints?

Dinner, hmmmm, I have some rotisserie chicken thawing, perhaps that with some bacon on my leftover spaghetti squash.

Time to have some breakfast and start my day. Hope you all have a marvelously wonderful day

Chriss - simple answer to the weed killer - you live in California! Daniel is licensed for all the different farm chemicals, but he farmed thousands of acres of rice. Most likely you've eaten some of the rice he grew! :)

Good morning, busy couple of of days here. Yesterday went to Calistoga and Santa Rosa for patient and tomorrow I have to go to Vacaville and Windsor. Trying to keep up with my Mariner's Compass homework. Will work on that when I get my charting done which I will do after this. I have been to the laundry mat. Sears has not shown for their appointment. We rescheduled for this Friday, if they don't show then I will be writing a letter. Been to the grocery and those are put away. Had a bit of lunch and here I am.

Maryz I may not be working everyday next week. I will work tomorrow, and maybe a few days next week. So likely not 7. Maybe 3 or so.

Lois we look like rain but I odn't think it is really going to happen. I plan to start going through things once I retire. My first two focus's will be finishing this MC quilt and my Owl binding. Then the sewing rooms and then I will make a schedule for quilting.

Judi we have had wind here off and on but none to serious in the last few days. I always feel better when I eat healthier.

Jana with any luck the Million has been moved to my bank account! I am with Mr. G too. My antivirus program payment is due also.

Tina that was some storm you posted. I am not sure what I would do with that mess. So good to hear your PT got approved.

Chriss how are you getting rain and we are not? My weather man retired and I think that has messed every thing up. What chemical are you using? DH buys it and doesn't seem to need anything special. Congrats on staying away from those cakes. I am trying real hard too to watch what I eat. Haven't been able to walk all week. I would use vinegar and water for the shower. I would think oven cleaner would be too harsh for the fiberglass.

Well I really need to start the charting so I can ge to the sewing machine. Have a great day everyone.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!
