Tuesday March 4,2025
Good morning,
Today will be in the 50's so I want barbecue chicken so that's what will have
Yesterday I sewed most of the appliques down on my butterfly pillow all but the flowers I didn't have matching thread so I ordered some from connecting thread so in the mean time I will do some more cleaning out the garbage cans are empty.
Well that's all the news from here I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good morning to all
It has been a few days of worry here. We have 3 fires within a mile going on for the last few days. Its been very dry here. Rumor has it that someone was burning trash and left it alone, but who knows. These fires are behind 3-4 housing dev. So some of the people were told to either go to family or friends if possible, if not go to the club house. As of now they were allowed to go into their homes. We have a bad storm headed our way with the #1 thing that has everyone spooked--Bad winds-- to start tomorrow morning. Joe has a treatment at 9am and hopefully we'll be home before it gets bad.
I posted yesterday and it went poof.
I try to keep up everyday but the time has a way of getting away from me.

color=#0000FF]Good morning,
Today will be another indoor day. Just as well. I've got plenty to do inside. My sewing has slowed a bit as my chores have taken priority. Today I'm going through my kitchen, cleaning, and purging. I've already washed some of the cabinet doors and jettisoned a set of clear mixing bowls that I never use. That was hard. I LOVE kitchen stuff and hate letting anything go. My sewing report - Working on NYB #21. It's a toughie. I studied the directions last night and I'm still not sure about it. But will give it a whirl today.
LORI - I looked up your Echinacea quilt. It's amazing! Would you do it in similar colors or go rogue and do your own thing? I vote you do that one next. I'm glad you had a "care conference" about your dad. I pray it fixes things for him. I just can't see opioids being much of an issue in his case.
VAL - Hooray!! Pi Day is THE day for you! I would bake you a pie to celebrate if I were there! When your patient tells you you need to retire, you probably should listen. But one questions - why were you crawling around on the floor? I find with PP, if I let time pass, I have to figure out how to do it all over again. And I can't tell you how many silly mistakes I've made. But I love the process and I love the finished look. But I'll tell you, when I finish this NYB , I'm taking a break! I want to do something simple for a while. Maybe just empty my sewing room, and start over 'arranging' it. I've really trashed it with this project with more than a hundred different fabrics in piles around the room. Oh - and no, Beth Hayes retired from APQ several years ago. Doris Brunnette is now the editor.
FLO - I love your bear, and being made from Grampa's shirts is a great idea. And being as the shirts are Hawaiian will make them so personal and distinctive and unique.
CHRISS - How lucky for you to have married two cooks! Bill SAYS in his past life he was the cook. I have yet to figure out what he cooked! If we cook outside, he wears the Kiss the Cook apron, wields the BBQ tools, and rakes in all the compliments, you know who does all the prep work and side dishes. Lucky for him I LIKE doing all the prep work and the side dishes. Sort of. Isn't it great to know your spring cleaning is done! I did go a little crazy this year and washed all my valances. We have no actual curtains. Great that KISS is almost finished! Mitered borders always make me scratch my head. Often I go rogue and just do regular corners. Happy birthday to Marilyn! Hard to believe she is 22 yrs old. How is she doing?
MARY Q - Glad to hear you are warming up. I've never spent a winter with the temps you experience. Just an occasional cold snap and even then, not as cold as you get. Harbingers of Spring are always welcome, but I bet no more so than in MN! Sorry the baby girl quilt doesn't quite 'go' with the room. Though, it's been my experience that the quilts are rarely in the room, but all over the house, getting used for tummy time, in the car, on picnics, etc. Or - maybe you could add one more border and use a fabric that bridges the quilt to the room . . . Lee & Lara are retiring the end of May.
LYN - I checked out your patterns. So pretty! Is that Water Lily PP? I love RV parks with libraries. I always keep a few books in our trailer for trading. Is your hexie project new? Are you just making them to have a portable project or do you have a specific plan for them? I've done two hexie quilts. Not sure I have another one in me. But I might go back to Yoyos as I have about 200 left from my last yoyo quilt which Autumn absconded with.
TINA -I saw a video of your haboob on the internet. Wow! Having been caught in one years ago and not realizing exactly what it was was until it was one us is one of our RVing experiences we'll never, ever forget. Was Frankie having dental work done that he needed a driver or just a cleaning?
JANA - When is your dental work starting? I hope Tommy will have his own kitchen or food storage area. My niece is also extremely gluten intolerant. She has to be very careful. Our DIL can't eat gluten, eggs, soy, or walnuts. With them, plus 4 vegetarians in our family, making a meal for us all is challenging.
JUDI - a head cold should be gone by now. Are you sure it's not allergies or even Covid and maybe you tested too early early or got a false negative? Is anyone else sick? Did you finish with your heart monitor and send it back? Enjoy your dinner tonite with your camping friends. Fun to reconnect. We always try to see old friends when we are in TX - among them Cindy and Sue.
DIANE - we saw on the news about the fires. I didn't realize they were so close to you. Do you have a 'go' bag packed for worst case scenario? Saying prayers for you, your family, and everyone around you!
LOIS - Did you ever finish cleaning your sewing room? Your pillow is going to be sweet. My machine doesn't like Connecting Threads thread. It is too linty. We order Masterpiece thread from Superior for sewing, and Magnifico for quilting. Funny how different machines like different threads. And just an FYI, I plan to be busy in the laundry room all day tomorrow - please plan accordingly.
I got my dining room all spiffed up and a small start on the kitchen. Then I did cleaned the trailer. Bill will do trailer carpet and floors today. I hope. I'm ready to shut it up until my sis arrives March 17th. They will be staying in it. I never even turned on my sewing machine yesterday though I did cut the fabric I need for NYB #21. Today I'm cleaning my kitchen, polishing cabinet doors, countertops, and crawling into the garden window to wash it and the wire shelf and the knickie knackies I have displayed there. That is a BIG job. I have to crawl up onto the counter and sit with my feet in the sink. I should have enough time to clean the bathroom, too, and maybe all the framed photos I display in the hallway. Tomorrow's task will be the big family room downstairs and laundry. You hear that, Lois?! I hope to find an hour or so to sew, but we'll see . . We just ordered a 40 yd x 90" bolt of W & N batting from Walmart. We discovered it is WAY cheaper than picking it up at the factory. Joann's is doing close-out sales on-line but they were already out of batting by the bolt. I know at least some stores are already closed. Not sure about Tacoma's.
Supper tonite is going to be pasta. I have leftover marinara sauce to use. Bill loves kidney beans added to spaghetti sauce instead of meat. A hold over from his childhood when his mom was trying to feed 5 kids and 4 of them were big-eating boys. So that is probably what we'll be having tonite.
Give someone a hug today!

Morning
Yesterday my friend came by with her 5 kids, my DGD was her. In total 4 boys, 2 girls. Stated outside and they ate me out of marshmallows and cookies. But no baking today...meeting my sewing partner for lunch. We have been trying to get together since before Christmas and life kept happening.

Very windy, a small shower coming thru now, high 85° and fire danger warnings.
MaryZ, Water Lily is done with the Rapid Fire and Tucker Trimmer rulers.
I had finished making my hexi's into flowers and they are now ready to be sewn on blocks. I did enjoy making them and when I found the 30's Playtime fabric, I decided I would make it my hand sewing
project. I like going to the jam, but feel I'm wasting time just listening. So I sit at the back, and do something. Last spring I was crocheting dishcloths.
Diane, Good to see you. Stay safe. Prayers for Joe.
I will try and get my laundry finished so I'm not in the way tomorrow.
Have more paperwork to go thru and making a pile for tax info. I have an Amazon order being delivered to our mail center in Rockport, so I'll go get that later.
I hope all y'all have a good day.
Lyn

Re: Tuesday March 4,2025
Good morning!
Raining off and on. A good thing.
Yesterday was my consultation. Went very well with and we have the ball rolling with a appointment on March 19th. All will be fine. The sooner we get started, the sooner I'm done. Maybe even lose some weight too!
I have found with paper piecing, that besides the other stuff needed, that a roll of scotch tape and a glue stick are very helpful. I use a dab of the glue stick to hold the first piece in place as I start. The scotch tape to repair the paper pattern, so I could resew, my mistake. Judy Niemeyer patterns are hard, but are very well made and have great instructions. You have templates for all the fabrics that you use, cut to fit together perfectly and also the paper pattern you sew them on too. When you cut the templates for the fabrics, you hold each together with a huge paper clip until you need that piece. They are numbered, so it's like a old paint by number kit! Zip locks are your friend for keeping things straight and not losing something. So it's really more time consuming than really hard. I have my JN done to the final assembly . It's the fire island hosta pattern. I also have the Bali wedding ring pattern in the wings. Just need the mood! There are some wonderful patterns on her website. Even computerized quilting patterns for many of the quilts for longarmers too.
I am trying to ignore a few uglies upstairs and head down to play. I do need some laundry done, but that's about all.
PT has added Wednesday back in the routine. In the afternoon , so we'll work around that again.
Yes, it's sad across the street, but I stay out of it. They are grown adults and someday, as my mom would say, get their smarts! I'm still waiting.
So, I'm off,
Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Re: Tuesday March 4,2025
Good morning Girls
Cloudy and rainy here, and I think I heard the word snow in the forecast!! Not unusual for Minnesota in March. I had plans to run a couple errands today but I think I'll stay in.
Lois... You've probably seen a lot of "JoAnn Closing!" ads of Facebook. I've tried to warn people in the comments that they are probably scam sites and to check only the official Joann website. Katie ordered a bunch of stuff from Joann on line and it came in several packages over a couple weeks time, so I have a sneaky feeling they are really struggling at their warehouses too! The ads are deceiving as the say "UP TO 50% off... but most things are only 25% off. I've been to two different ones and there sure are a lot of empty shelves, tho both have had a good supply of their "Keepsake" fabric.
Diane... I so thought of you the other day when I saw the news about the fires. They showed a map and I was sad to see Myrtle Beach on the map. Sending prayer that all is well for you on that front and that Joe is improving with his treatments.
Judi... How fun to meet half way for dinner. When my brother and sis-in-law camped a couple years ago they were telling me about some of the people they have met along the way and I thought how fun that would be to meet folks from all over. They've even run into other Minnesotans along the way. I think Carol even has kept a little journal of their travels.
Maryz.... You are getting rid of your clear bowls!! I love bowls!!! The time for me to clean out kitchen stuff would have been when I moved, but I sure dragged a lot of stuff over here. I have a set of stainless bowls that were my Mom's and I just can't let those go. I don't feel bad about having to start baby girl quilt all over, I just have to decide on the pattern. I got the see the baby room the other day so I have a better idea of what to do. The quilt I was going just would have looked funny. It might require a trip the Warehouse to get the right fabric. It's pink of course, but a dusty rose kind of pink, not the usual baby pink. Kidney beans in Spaghetti??? That's not as weird as the guy I knew the put spaghetti sauce over a thick peanut butter sandwich.! gag
Flo... FIVE kids!!! yikes!! Glad you are able to meet your sewing friend, sounds like you need a quieter day today!
Lyn.... You had to say "Laundry"
Reminds me that I still have a load all folded in a basket in the laundry room that I need to put away, would probably be easier than running to the laundry room every morning trying to find something to wear.
Valerie.. Have you ever heard of "Factor 5" as it pertains to blood types? My nieces and my sis both have that as part of their DNA or whatever. It means that their blood tends to clot. My niece Erin (sister) was on Coumadin for a length of time as they discovered blood clots in her legs. So they are trying to be very careful with Meg (baby momma) She's also 39, so considered a geriatric pregnancy and has PCOS.--The lovenox does make me nervous so I'm hoping she doesn't go into labor on her own. CONGRATULATIONS! So excited for you to be able to retire!!!
Lori... I talked to one of the clerks at the Joann I was at the other day. He has no idea what their schedule is for closing. At first some stores were going to close, then it became all of them. I haven't bought a lot of fabric there in the last year or so but noticed the quality went down and the price went up.
Chriss... I don't always remember dreams, but I seem to dream more early in the morning. This morning I dreamt I was driving on a highway through a big fire and I was trying to find a way to turn around. Maybe it was the glass of wine I had last night! You are getting ready to plant a garden? Do you do veggies and/or flowers. I was jus thinking about flowers for my patio this morning.
Well, in between typing, I've showered and dressed and dried my hair, so now it's time to get to work. It's just a matter of which direction to go today. Always something to clean up around here and I should actually run the vac, but I get sweaty doing that so I'll save that for tomorrow.
Have a terrific Tuesday Every one.

Re: Tuesday March 4,2025
Good morning everyone
We didn't blow away.....yet. last night we didn't sleep much, the wind was really bad all night.... we're draggin this morning. Gotta get a vacuum out and try to get the windows vacuumed out and on the floor in front of them.
Jana, I think I missed it or forgot, what are you having done March 19th?
My brain is mush.... I'll try to get back later, maybe I'll get a nap in and my brain will be better.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need
Tina
