Good morning,

Can you believe it? February is gone and it's March already. My weather person says today starts meteorological spring. Not sure what that means actually and why the meteors can't share Normal Spring, but that's what it is. So - Happy Spring!

CHRISS - that's a lot of eggs you gave your friends and dad. I'm sure they were VERY Grateful! I like to keep some boiled eggs around, too, for snacking, salads, etc. And if I happen to have a jar of dill pickle juice, pickles gone, I fill it with boiled eggs and let them sit a few days. My brother, Jim, and I love/loved our dill pickle eggs. Bill and Terry wrinkle their noses up. I tried sweet pickle juice but didn't care for it as much. But scrambled is my favorite. What will your job be at the enchilada fest? Will you assemble, cook, or sell? I went all winter without taking vitamins but started again since we got home. This is usual for me. My blood work is always fine, but my energy level is low. Within a week of starting my vitamins again, I'm feeling more energized. I take Centrum Silver for Women or One-a-Day.

LORI - I used to set up my dad's meds, too. He didn't completely trust me but he trusted himself less, so I got the job. I am sentimental and save too much, I know. But I have very few of my parents' things. I could probably count them on one hand - a vase, a small ceramic Santa, a cracked mixing bowl, and my mom's Sunday hat and gloves. I have very little mostly because they had very little. And I have 5 siblings so things got distributed thinly. Make sure you check every pocket (don't forget coats and robes!), purse, sugar bowl, etc. People (especially older people) often hide money and valuables. I knew one person who hid $50 and $100 bills in lots of books. Sorry to hear Dad's not doing well. A hug for him. And you.

JANA - you are organized with all those meds! Do you carry a copy of his meds with you in your purse and his wallet? Did you decide on which Skinnie you want to make?

MARY Q - preemie vests?? I worked with preemies for 20 years and never heard of "vests". (though, I've been out of it now for 23 years so new things are out there) Are they for wrapping tightly? We did snug burrito wraps using receiving blankets. And covered them with little 18x24" quilts that were donated.

LYN - I know those panels indicating all the tank levels are notoriously inaccurate in RV's but sounds like yours is more than just 'levels'. I hope it gets squared away soon. When does the MH go back to the mothership for its annual check-up? If you cut the wires, what will that do? Just stop the red light from glowing?

JUDI - Still another week to go! Hooray! Tell Ken to cool his jets and get busy soaking up the warmth and sunshine while he can. It will be over all too soon. Your rum drink sounds delicious. We have spiced rum and cranberry juice, but I may go out and buy some pineapple juice and do some experimenting. 🍹 :D Enjoy your dinner party tonite? Does your cousin live close to your FL sister? Did you say they live 3 hours away or was that the baseball game that was 3 hours away?

KATY - I was wondering where you were! Figured you were cleaning something. Happy curtains! They can really refresh a place. Is all the farm stuff signed, sealed, and delivered now? Did you decide if you are going to stay where you are or sell? You mentioned a while back that you were thinking . . .

LOIS - hello??? Are you home?? I got my APQ and BLOCK magazines yesterday. Which APQ patterns were you looking at that interested you? I like the quilt on the cover.

VAL - another thing about FPP I don't think I mentioned - spray starch is your friend. Pieces are often cut on the bias and this helps with 'stretching'. The new BLOCK magazine has an big article and pattern with the basics of FPP. Made me think of you and me!

Yesterday was a whirlwind of medical stuff. Dr. appt for BP check (and I'm good to go there- no meds needed.), Chiropractor appt, then the XR's he ordered (just to make sure nothing happened to my spine when we were rear-ended in Texas last Dec.) I had an hour between two of the appts and there was a Marshall's next door, so, being a good gramma, I browsed little girl clothes, size 3T. And found several summer outfits that I know will be a hit come birthday time in April. I did have time to sew a little but didn't get a block finished. I will do that this morning and start another, the 20th. My good friend, Esther, passed away while we were in Texas. Today is her memorial from 1-4pm. We could walk to the memorial from our house, it's so close, but we are taking our other elderly friend, Norrie, who is 97. So we need to drive into Tacoma to pick her up, bring her to the event, then take her home again. It will be a long afternoon. So no more yardwork here for now - the weather is turning chilly again and rain returns Tuesday. So I guess it will be time to stay inside and start my spring cleaning. But not today. Maybe tomorrow.

We had chicken enchilada casserole last night. Everything enchiladas have but layered in a casserole instead. I cut the tortillas up in bite size pieces. I think, if we are hungry after that memorial reception we'll have the leftovers for supper tonite. And the last of our salad veggies.

I'm hoping for sunshine in everyone's day! And time in the sewing room.

Good sunny morning!

So beautiful outside and Mother Nature is so deceiving! It's below freezing! That's so not nice!

I have a beachy scene skinnies I'm leaning towards- sandy dunes, bucket, shovel, starfish. Need to pull some fabrics, trace, fuse and sew. Today's fun.

Daniel found a few new trains for Mr G. Daniel is like Maryz scoring with treasures at thrift stores when he goes to train shows. He'll be over today to start gathering the dump run.

Not much here. We may go out to look for a new loveseat size sofa for Mr G's office. The old one is more than 20 years in use, downright ugly, to the point of what was I thinking when I bought the set for my Concord house and now has a broken frame. I am so happy to see it gone! We also need a new bed mattress, it's 25 plus years too. Costco has one that will work. Just need one of the many trucks in the family to be put in use.

So that's it from the mountain west, I think spring is about 20 or so odd days away, yippee!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning everyone 🌞
We're supposed to hit 79° today with only a 10mph breeze but it's from the east and it's a cool wind. We've been spending a lot of time out back transplanting things, I'm mostly the supervisor saying where I want things to go unless it's to put things in pots and that I've been doing. I had 1 pot that grass got into so Frankie dumped it and put all the bulbs in a bucket of water for me to wash off to make sure no grass was entangled in the roots and I got those replanted in fresh soil, I had about 30 or more rose of Sharon in that pot so thinned them up into 3 different pots. Today Day lilies and irises are being thinned and moved and that'll probably be it for about 5 days because the wind is supposed to be bad for those days.
I got a surprise text yesterday, my massage lady had a cancellation and asked if I'd like my free massage from us giving her eggs so I was out the door fast. She worked on my foot some a long with my sciatica and back, it helped my foot but then Frankie needed a haircut so yesterday evening I did that and it was all I could do to get through that standing, ugh.....I hate complaining about it so I think I'll just ignore it.
I hope you all have a great day and do something you enjoy!
Prayers for all in need 🙏
Tina

Good morning. It's going to be a great day today. I just called the burn hotline and today is a burn day. I think that will be my plan of action for this morning. If time permits I will do my kitchen floors.

This afternoon I volunteer at the Enchilada feed which is a fun event. I will seat people and clear tables, basic hostess duties. And that will be my day.

Maryz, so much easier to make enchilada's into a casserole and just as tasty. Glad the chiro xray is just a precaution. I like the cover of this issue of APQ too. I thought about subscribing to MSQC, maybe someday. Not a fan of pickled eggs so yay you, you get to have them all to yourself.

Jana, Mother nature does like to fool us. My uncle used to say, Mother Nature is an onery Heffer. Sure would be nice if Daniel would swing by here and pick up a few things needing to go to the dump.

Judi, your meal sounds perfect. We often had burger dogs for dinner. I hope, that for you, this coming week lasts a very long time.

Tina, day lillies and Iris make me think of my grandma. She had lots of both. She had a beautiful yard too. Yours is going to be so pretty. Thing about ignoring the foot pain is it doesn't make it go away. Because you had some relief with the massage seems like it would be a good sign that it can get better.

Pete has driven his tractor up the driveway for the second time. He's picking up things that are too heavy to lift. Moose is huffing about it. Not a real huge bark but a humph kind of a bark followed by a growl.

I think I will go have some breakfast and start my day. I won't have dinner but instead will have a late lunch. Perhaps hamburger salad?

Have a groovy day.

It's going to be a nice day on the Texas coast. Minnie and I just may have to sit outside and soak up some Vitamin D. I can look through several magazines I picked up from the free box at the QS.

Jana, I'm in charge of pills here, mostly supplements. Because they have to be moved from MH to house I have 2 totes, one for each of us. Garry's is much bigger. I have marked on lids if a.m. or p.m. and a G or L, for who takes them. Pills box organizer didn't work. I bought the little plastic cups with lids like you get salad dressing in at a restaurant. I count out a weeks worth for Garry and tops are labeled. I only take about 6 supplements, so I don't pre-count them.

Well the black tank sensor behaved, as I told y'all yesterday morning, until I was getting ready to go get my hair trimmed. Red light came on and Silverleaf monitor said 100% full. This means you can't flush the toilets. Our system is all electric. I dealt with it after I went to my hairdresser here and she fixed the mistakes made by the lady in Marble Falls. That lady had not layered it correctly and with the waves I have now, it looked really stupid. I've gone to this gal a long time, so of course there was catching up to do as she trimmed. Got back to MH and Red lights still on. I called Newmar and we had a conference call with Silverleaf and I'm happy to say that I didn't have to cut wires. I did have to crawl into the bays and disconnect a wiring plug thing. It runs the red light and info to the Silverleaf. Toilets now flush. I know we can go a week before tank is full, but I will dump every 5 days. Newmar has added this to our May appt.

With that fixed, I went to Corpus to the QS that is having to close. The Mom had told the one daughter that everything inside the store was hers, but Mom didn't write it in her will and there's a sibling that wants her money, Now! I bought 2 kits, some batiks, machine needles and a couple patterns. They have a box of free magazines, which says take one, but we're happy for me to take several. I tried to find the one Tina needs, but it wasn't there.

I have some laundry to do and we're going to dinner with friends.

Y'all have a great day.

Hope all is well, I am still struggling with this Mariner's Compass and may need to go to the shop for instruction today. I get the first and second part but can't figure out to get the third attached. UGH! And I have lots to do before Monday's class.

I have had breakfast, went on my usual 2 mild walk around the wetlands. Not much waterfowl out today. Wondering if it's because our weather is supposed to change. Weather is coming in later this evening supposedly. Then a wet week ahead.

Chriss yes everything seems to be going up. We are paying almost $8 a pound now for Hamburger. I have started trying to find stuff on sale and then freeze it. Safeway has some pretty good weekly sales if you have one there. WalMart also marks things down in the meat department when they are within 2 days of the do not use by date. Since I started to walk again I did start to take Vitamins again. Just one multivit a day. My Grandma was Pennsylvania Dutch, I love pickled eggs!

Lori if I may suggest you ask that Dad be put on a routine pain regimen. My Dad did the same thing. We put him on Tylenol 500 mg twice a day and that seemed to work. He was on hospice for a year and had no narcotic up until about 1 hr or so before he passed. I remember his hospice nurse was tearful and even though I didn't think he needed it, she felt she had to do something and so gave him a dose of Morphine. I am sure he was comfortable. Just be clear in your expectations.

Judi sounds like a nice lunch you all have planned. Great weather you are having.

Jana you know I always forget about Costco for stuff like mattresses. We need a new one too. Ours is probably 25 yrs old also. DH has a truck so maybe I will start looking.

Well I think I will go heat up the calves, they are starting to ache from my walk. Maybe it was too cold. Then back to tearing my hair out.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Valerie, I have been very clear about pain management, but there has been resistance. Finally after a different nurse came yesterday, they got him a patch for time released pain management. It would amaze me how they would tell him to drink more water every time they would visit, knowing he has dementia and didn't remember what they said 10 seconds ago. I would reply every time, he doesn't remember what you just said. I would not recommend this hospice company. I will review them online.
Did you figure out what you needed for the block?

Lyn, bummer about the quilt shop. Too bad her mom didn't put it in writing.

Chriss, have fun this afternoon at the Enchilada fest. I bet they are yummy.

Tina, glad you got some relief from the massage.

Judi, sounds like the perfect day.

Maryz, my dad's aunt had money in the hem of her drapes. Also, in books, framed pictures and more. She had Alzheimer's and was living alone before his mom took over. I'll keep a few small things, but not too many. I'll probably take pictures and do a digital scrapbook. I want to upload some of the pictures to Ancestry for historical purposes. Sounds like you found so fun things for someone's birthday.

Hopefully hospice has finally honored my request. They claim to be about comfort, but I've had to fight them constantly about pain management. I need to go to the Italian market to pick up a few things they don't carry at the local market. Then I want to work on my OWL this afternoon. Our weather went from 87* on Thursday to 62* today. Hopefully we'll get a little rain tonight as well. Lasagna is on the menu for dinner.

Have a lovely day.

Lori still frogging a lot trying to get things lined up right but feel better than I did this morning. Quitting for the night, back is done and realized I have some fabric in the wrong places.

Hope you can work things out with your dad, but do know that you have a right to switch hospices if you want.
