SATURDAY, February 22nd (Washington's birthday!)
Good morning,
It's the weekend! Though, the only difference from any other day is I don't walk with Lori Across the Road. If I walk on weekends it's with Mr. Bill. And Scott, of course. And speaking of Scott, he's looking pretty sharp after his $88 shampoo & cut.
CHRISS - how many trees altogether is your neighbor taking? Such a good deal for both of you! Your roast in the crockpot is great for a few days of meals. When I have leftover beef I like to make veggie beef soup. Also, if you made chili and don't want lots for the freezer, you don't have to make a huge batch. Now you're making me hungry for chili. Fortunately, I have some red chili in the freezer and some white. I make my white chili the same except use chicken and white beans. I think we'll have chili over half a baked potato tonite for supper.
JANA - oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your teeth! Are you going for a second opinion? Is the plan to get implants? Chickie has 10 implants - got them all at one time. Under anesthesia, of course. I was afraid to get my two, but she encouraged me. They are stronger than natural teeth. But I'd sure rather you were getting a new car or sewing machine!
VAL - love the place you walk! Looks like it's good place to walk for your body and your soul! My daily walk varies - through different neighborhoods/developments or on a paved walking trail through woods where there is also a little lake and often ducks that come paddling for treats when they see you.
LYN - I hope you make it to the coast tomorrow. As for your coverlet - do you have a preference about binding it or turning it? If you don't, do what's easiest. But if you do, you will never be completely happy unless you do it the way you want.
LORI - I bet your boys are lookin' fine today! How much do you pay per dog for a groom? My bill was $88 after the coupon that I didn't even realize they had but they used it automatically. And I tip $10. And you are right - when Scottie is gone, there is an energy missing from the house.
MARY Q - I love it - "bednight snack". My kids always called grapefruit "group-freight", popcorn "poop-kine" and pajamas were "bunnies". At bedtime, we "bunnied up!" Kids really do say the darnedest things! I think we also have about 7 pizza places within 2 miles of our house. Not to mention all the grocery stores have take'n'bakes. But if we do take out pizza it's usually Papa Murphy's.
LOIS - have you been sewing at all this week or are you on break?
JUDI - what wonderful thing are you doing today to make us all jealous?
Bill got his results from his CT scan and they are nothing more than what we were told last October! He has a soft tissue nodule about 1x1.5 cm and maybe a second one. So now they want a more specific scan (March 27th) before he sees an ENT on May 6th. They used to say the wheels of justice grind slowly, but I think the wheels of medicine are square! So we wait.
In the meantime, we had a nice dinner party at friends last night. Lasagna was the main course, garlic bread, salad, and tiramisu and sorbet for dessert. We haven't seen these couples since last October so it was good to catch up. I finished my 8th NYB block and will probably get #9 done today. I'll probably find a few house uglies to do. And given the weather - upper 40's and rainy all weekend long - I think the idea of chili for supper will be a good one.
Hope all is good with everyone!

Re: SATURDAY, February 22nd (Washington's birthday!)
Good morning,
It is a weekend alright I've washed two loads of clothes will switch them over in a bit.
Mary I haven't sewed but that's ok I want to clean up this mess that I have in here I put owl on the back burner again.
I have to also go upstairs and give my long arm a good cleaning so between today and tomorrow that's what most likely will happen.
Bill has 2 Dr apts next week so will be out doing that.
So more then likely I will not be sewing for a bit.
Well I hope you can enjoy a sewing day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Re: SATURDAY, February 22nd (Washington's birthday!)
Good morning Girls
Such happy news here! We are going to get above freezing!!! Dear Alexa says we might hit 33*... means there is hope for us yet! Makes me even want to get out to the garage for a little re-con--tho it's still too cold to do much out there!
Not sure what the plan of the day here is... will probably just wing it. From the looks of things it will be probably require hauling out the vacuum for a little bit but other than that and a little shine up in the kitchen, I'll probably spend most of the day in the sewing room. I did end up going to Sam's Club yesterday and stocked up on coffee and butter (way cheaper than the grocery store) And gosh darn if a couple good books didn't jump in my cart. I've been reading a lot of Kristen Hannah and really enjoy them. Kind of like Hallmark movies in a book! Since I'm a firm believer in brain exercise, I try to read at least an hour every day.
Time to crank up the music and get to work!!
Hope y'all have a great day!

Good morning!
Yes, it's a much better day here today. I've gotten past my news yesterday. I've known for years that I would face the day of implants. I made the appointment with the oral surgeon to start the ball rolling. I am not hurting, since the antibiotics are working.
Today is straighten up here. Everything got postponed, so I will quickly get things done. A bit of laundry too. Then I can sew! I'm in the mood for a new tote bag, so will see what I have in stash and maybe even play with adding embroidery to the tote. My pattern is very versatile and I have added things to it before.
So other much else here,
Hugs,
Jana

Re: SATURDAY, February 22nd (Washington's birthday!)
Happy Birthday George.
Maryz, yes, the boys are clean and smell nice to the tune of $220. Once it's warm again we we do their baths for a few months. We like to bathe them every month. It keeps the dog smell down. I'm sure if they thought Bill's scan was serious, they would reach out. I bet Mr. Scottie looks very handsome after his bath.
Give him a little scratch behind the ears for me.
Lois, hope you get are you chores done quickly and get to enjoy most of your day.
Chriss, I go to Bestbuy and talk with the staff about which computer does what before I buy one. I just don't know enough about them anymore. The progression of technology moves too fast for me to keep up. I make chili from scratch, well sort of. I use a package mix, add ground beef, tomatoes, and kidney beans. Super easy and it's way better than canned chili.
Maryq, I've read a lot of Kristin Hannah. Which one are you reading?
I got most of the house done yesterday, so I will work on my OWL today. It's been on the design wall staring at me. I do need to go water the plants at dads as well as visit dad today.
Dinner will be leftovers. We have many choices.
Have a lovely day.

Jana, bummer about teeth issues, but a least you have options. Have fun playing with your embroidery.

Re: SATURDAY, February 22nd (Washington's birthday!)
Good morning everyone
I got up at 5:15 yesterday so I could be out the door by 6:30 to leave for Cruces, Holly had a dr's appointment at 8 and mine was at 1:30, it was a long day for us both......my foot didn't like it one little bit. My insurance deductible on medical equipment is $1500, the insoles are right at $450, so it will be all out of pocket..... can't afford them right now
Maryz, I hope Bill is all ok. I like all kinds of dressings, Frankie only likes ranch or Italian but he did try French and will eat it if we don't have the other 2. Have you ever had Roquefort? I really like it too but can't find it here anymore. Blue cheese is my top 5 fav. I do clean a lot but I can't stand the dust and it bothers my breathing so I have no choice but to try to keep it up as much as possible.
Lois, I have days that I don't get in my sewing room too.
Maryq, yay for above freezing temps!! I have to vacuum here too.
Jana, oh my goodness, do you have dental insurance? I'm sure even with it it'll cost a lot though hugs π«
Lori, I like mine bathed once a month too, sometimes it's 3 weeks cause they get to smelling like doggies. Speaking of dogs, I saw an Irish Setter yesterday at the gas station, I hadn't seen one in 44 years! They are so pretty. He was very friendly
Well it took me over 2 hours to get through all my emails and get caught up on here, I gotta get busy.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need
Tina

Re: SATURDAY, February 22nd (Washington's birthday!)
Good morning. It's going to be a gorgeous day and rest of the week. We just may see 70+ degrees.
Not sure what I will get into today. I do have Pete cutting up my trees, I'm leaving it to him to decide what is dead and what isn't. It will be so wonderful to not worry about what is going to fall where. And he is cleaning up the mess. He will stack the small stuff and I can burn it on a burn day. yay me. He's already taken a pick up load of wood out and it appears he will be able to do that today as well. I love that it's going to be cleaned up and not on my mind.
Maryz, you're just up the highway from me and you are having rain cool weather and I am thinking I'm with Judi in the Fla sunshine. crazy. Hope no matter how many tests Bill gets the answer is always nothing. The roast was good and I sent some home with dad. Not sure how many trees will be cut down but I will be glad to see the dead ones gone. There was some kind of a beetle that attacked our Oaks.
Lois, I am going to do my darndest to sew today. Seems like I've had a pretty busy week. Hope Bill's appts go smoothly. That poor Owl of your's I bet they think you don't give a HOOT anymore. ha ha, I'm so funny.
Maryq, I do read a lot in the morning but my brain exercise is the NY Times free puzzles. There are maybe 5 of them and they make my mind have to think
Jana, I am a tote bag aholic. I love them and have a shelf full in my closet, some never used, that I can't seem to get rid of. Sorry about the teeth, hoping that once they are fixed you have no more issues.
Lori, refrigerator pot luck. my favorite kind of dinner. I'm going to go to best buy and also to the dell store. I think I have a laptop picked out but it sure would be easier if I had some input. I didn't think of a package seasoning mix, I'm going to try that next time.
Tina, my emails take a long time too, but it's my own fault. I subscribe to a lot of devotionals and quilt shop things. I need to pare things down.
Well, that's my morning. Pete is loading his pickup and Moose can see him and is barking. Pete isn't as afraid as Moose wishes he would be. Moose seems to be done barking but is growling in disgust at the going ons.
Pete will leave soon and I am going to go outside and move some dirt that is around a tree, the squirrels have made their holes and Moose has turned them into trenches. I'd like to turn them into none of the above.
After that I may go into town and buy some new porch lights. I have 5. Two on the front of the garage, two in the breezeway and one at the front door. I'd like them to match. And perhaps a stop at best buy. The Dell store is a trip for another day.
Dinner here will be the same as Lori's, refrigerator pot luck.
You all have a fun day
