Good morning,

It's another cold day and I have to finish up cleaning just dusting vacuuming and washing floors.
No laundry to do so everything should go fast once Bill gets out of bed  .
I've been kicking around to do the radiant star quilt I have had the book and fabric since 2011 also the rulers.
So that quilt may be just the ticket here is something to think on the fabric is marked at 6.99 a yard and it's all benartex fabric so .
I bought that in Lancaster Pa when Eleanor use to do the Aqs shows.
So that's my challenge.
Well this is my day I might go out after my cleaning and go buy a new iron will see what the boss says.
I hope you all have a great day doing whatever makes you happy.
Prayers to all.
Lois

Good rainy morning, everyone!

LOIS - I say if you have the pattern, the rulers, and the fabric, let's do this! Er - I mean - let's YOU do this! I'm busy right now. Though I think I have that booklet, too. Fabric did take a BIG jump several years ago, I think, when there were floods overseas and ruined a lot of cotton crops. However, I lot of cotton is also grown in U.S. Plus, after that bad year, the prices never went back down!

JANA - so glad to hear all went well! And you have your beloved home with you again! Thanks for letting us know. 😻

MARY Q - Yes, I've made a king sized reversible quilt with totally different blocks on each side, floral "snowballs" on one side and scrappy sister's choice blocks on the other. For my sister. It turned our great. And yes, it was the squatter in Vicki's house who died. Turns out it was a couple, not a single person. The girl's mother came and took her away. So for now, anyway, the house is empty again and still not locked up. We checked. The odd thing is, that couple had been working in the yard, cleaning off the deck, and painting over some black graffiti Vicki had spray painted on the garage door. Like they were actually moving in! And yes, it's nice to live so close to the Warm & Natural factory. The buildings are set back in the woods. You'd never know anything was there unless you know it's there. In the tiny town of Elma - pop. 3,000.

CHRISS - I don't call checking your credit cards so often OCD. I call it smart! I think most cards have an option where you can receive a notice on your phone instantly when your card is used. You might look into that feature if you don't already have it. Sometimes it comes over our phones before we even leave the checkstand.

TINA - well, congrats to Jaz! Somehow I missed what her first place was for.

LYN - Sorry you have to post pone the coast a few more days. But at least you'll know your house will be good. A bummer that extender didn't work for you. We had friends who put one on their RV and it worked well for them. They worked when on the road so they needed good internet access. But that was 8-10 yrs ago. . . Thanks for the update on Izzy. Is she still home-schooling her DGS? Still have goats?
Glad you have happy, well fed birds!

JUDI - how was Chinese supper last night? Who is doing supper tonite? Do you have plans to do anything special today or are you just going to relax. I kind of think after the last year you've had, you can't relax enough!

I've been working away on my NY Beauty. I have Block #6 halfway finished. Bill got Amara's quilt quilted using Hearts Meander pattern. So now I need to get binding on that and get Twilight Creatures ready to quilt. That one is for Autumn just because she loves twilight creatures. And if it's done, I'd like to send it along with Amara's birthday quilt. Yesterday was kind of a "fowl" day here. The roosters next door were a chorus of good cheer in the morning, then I saw a beautiful little goldfinch at our feeder, robins on my walk, crows and a blue jay in the front yard, an eagle soaring over my head, and finally owls softly hooted me to sleep last night. 🦉 Today Bill has a CT scan of his thyroid. He has a mysterious lump and doctor would like the mystery solved. If you have a spare prayer . . . .

And for supper - I'm thinking chili relleno casserole, Mexican rice, and a salad. All you gourmet cooks out there - do you have a favorite recipe for a simple basalmic vinaigrette dressing? I need to take a salad to a dinner on Friday. I looked on line but there are lots of different ones. We don't usually use this dressing ourselves but for a crowd I think it would be a better choice.

We are having a "juicy" day here. Hope the juice lets up soon so I can walk without getting too drenched because I have a chiro appt right after my walk.

Make your day a good one!

Good morning!

I'm up and pouring water in my patient. He needs lots of that! He is getting around well, still a bit foggy brained from the anesthesia. Told to be back to a normal routine. What's that? 😀

My plan is to sew.

Lois -- I've got the book and the ruler for the Radiant Star too. When I did my teacher training with El at QIAD, my class made blocks for one of her display star quilts. I put together my section, had all the match points absolutely perfect, took and showed El for approval and she took a look and said no, it's wrong. That's all, no reason why. So I thought I hadn't got the points sharp enough and ripped them out and tried again. Nope, again it was wrong. I finally just put that block in my pocket and didn't do another. I finally figured out my mistake. My points were perfect, just sewed together on the wrong side of where I was to sew! I'm left handed and reversed that seam! That's why the book has left handed instructions too! I've made that quilt for my mom too and that's a whole different story!

Well, time to get going,
Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good morning everyone 🌞
Lois, I think it's ridiculous how expensive fabric is these days and like Maryz said, it went up for a supposed reason but then it never went back down. Here by me they grow enough cotton for 1000+ times us that post on QIAD.....
Maryz, prayers for Bill 🙏 I bet you'll get both quilts done in time to mail together, isn't her birthday in April? I like all your foul sightings and sounds, we're getting bunches flying through now, Spring is on its way.
Judi, floors bother me too, nobody else says a word..... I'm thinking it's because they don't want to clean them.
Flo, stay in and warm. Are your chickens doing ok in the cold?
Jana, so glad he's doing good. I bet that was frustrating about your block.
Dad had his injections yesterday, he looked pretty rough last night and he's really hurting bad today. The Dr took him off his cancer pills (the ones that cost 25K a month but he qualified for a grant thankfully), it was really affecting his thyroid. He says he's going to ask the Dr about taking him off these injections because the pain from them has gotten too much for him to handle. He also read that they shouldn't be given for more than 12 months and he's been having them for several years now.
Maryq, I got my shelves filled up LOL but thanks for the offer to help me ☺️
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need 🙏
Tina

Cold 19°, wind 13 gusting to 20 mph, so feel like is 6°.

Back when the price of fabric took a jump in price, a QS owner told me the companies also changed how much was on a bolt. I think she said it had been 15 yards but was now 12 yards and the increase in price.

Jana, Good to hear all went well for Mr G. Normal...you sewing in the Batt Cave sounds normal.

Lois, I think I have that book and maybe the rulers. I will find out when I set up the sewing cabin, probably in April.

MaryZ, Prayers for Bill. Yes, Izzy is still home schooling Wm and still working for a school in NM. I see FB pictures of the animals and there's still goats.

Judi, 40 yo-yos, I thought you were relaxing!?

Flo, Stay warm. Good time to have a fireplace. I wish we had one here.

Tina, sorry Dad is hurting.

MaryQ, You really didn't have to send this cold. I well remember growing up in Iowa and the 6 feet snow drifts and bitter cold.

Plenty of things on my to do list, just need to pick one. Dinner will be leftover Chicken and dumplings.

Have a blessed day.

Good morning Girls

Just a quick hello... I spent to much time catching up on the news this morning and now I hear my kitchen calling me "COME CLEAN ME!" I'm not one of those people who goes to bed at night with a spotless kitchen... it's always a morning task.

It is still cold here but it looks like today/tomorrow will be the last of it we'll see 40's by Monday. I don't think we are done with snow yet, as March is sometimes the snowiest month of all. Needless to say I am looking forward to green grass and flowers blooming!

Several squirrels are running around my house this morning, so I best go chase them!

Wishing you all a Wonderful Wednesday

Good morning. It's going to be a fantastic day and rest of the week.

Dad will be here today, plans change often here. He will fix the last light I have that needs fixing. He had some things he needed to get to so I was on the back burner but here I am now, on the front burner and glad that the job will be done. Not sure if he has another project planned but I will go with whatever he says.

I talked to a man across the street from me yesterday. He cuts and sells wood. I have some dead trees that will one day fall down and a couple that have already fallen. He will come and take care of these trees and his payment will be the wood. I don't have any use for the wood and will be so overjoyed that this will be a job checked off my list and I don't have to pay someone to do it. He will be here on Thursday to see what needs doing.

Lois, you have quite a chore list going today. Tomorrow I will be doing most of the things on your list. When I first started sewing fabric was around $7 a yard, I bought a lot and still have some of it. It's really gone up since then. The radiant star is a beautiful quilt. You're a great quilt picker outer. Hope today is the day you have hoped for. New Iron Day.

Maryz, How big is the salad you need to make? If it's just a few perhaps a salad kit that includes the dressing would be easier, unless you already have everything on hand that you need. I do have a favorite bottled dressing. Italian by Wishbone, it says Robusto on the label. It's what I use for my tomato, red onion, cucumber concoction. Don't you just love a chorus filled with bird sounds. Prayers for Bill. I do have the notification feature on my card and bank account. It's how i knew at midnight there was an issue.

Judi, I think it's a conspiracy. I think Ken, your sister and friend are all texting eachother to see how long it will take you to sweep the floor. Yep, they are in cahoots. ha ha.

Flo, Jerry's cousin sends me pictures of his snow every so often, he is in Illinois. Not sure I am cut out for living in the snow.

Jana, so? did you ever sew the radiant star correctly? Not sure what your "regular routine" is but mine is "be ready to change direction if the phone rings" Because that ring or texting chime often changes my plans.

Tina, I get why your dad is tired of the injections and all that goes with them. Prayers said for him and you.

Lyn, I'm making two lists. One for chores and one for groceries. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather so I can do a little outside work.

Maryq, I almost always have the dishes done each evening but empty the rack in the morning. I've tried to keep my messes at bay and the squirrels away. I do have some things that seem to creep up and need doing.

Again, like yesterday, I have no clue what is for dinner. I told myself many times to thaw out some hamburger but didn't listen to me, I can be so defiant. I have been wanting a taco salad, or a hamburger salad. so maybe today will be the day for that. Or not, who knows.

You all have a fun day,
Chriss

Valerie, I prefer the look of hand binding too, but do machine binding on most of the charity quilts I make.

Lyn, thanks for the update on Izzy. Sounds like she is busy as usual. Will you make it to the coast this weekend?

Jana, glad things went well for Mr. G.

Lois, I have that book too. Maybe someday I'll make it.

Maryq, a reversible quilt sounds wonderful. I've often thought about doing that, but never have. Let me know how it works out if you do it.

Maryz, hope the rain stopped so you could walk. Sounds like you are moving along with the New York Beauty. Can't wait to see it. Hope Bill's scan goes well and it's nothing major.

Judi, nice of your neighbor to keep you walk cleaned off. It probably gives him something to do.

Tina, hope you dad is feeling better. How he doing otherwise?

Chriss, nice you could make a trade with the neighbor. It's a win win. Did dad find more projects to take care of?

I spent yesterday with friends. We went to Temecula wine country and met up with some other friends that were at a quilting retreat in the area. It was a fun day of eating, wine tasting, and we even went to a casino for a bit. We were killing time wait for traffic to thin out. I was gone from 0900-2100.

I didn't do much today. I was still tired from yesterday. I'll do a little hand quilting this evening.

Dinner was leftover lasagna.

Sleep well my friends.
