I'm sure many of you are colder than I am, but I'm still shivering at 27* this morning. And as it gets light, it will probably go another degree or two downhill. We still have some emptying and then some cleaning to do in the trailer but maybe it will wait until it's warmer - say, June!
FLO - sorry about your lengthy cold. I prescribe a whole day in a comfy chair, snuggled under a quilt, hot tea at your elbow, with a stack of quilting magazines! Signed, Mary Z, R.N.
LOIS - I think the same orders should be prescribed for you. It simply takes a while to gather up our get up and go. It took me 6 weeks to find mine after Covid last August. You like Murder She Wrote. Do you know there are a few dozen books, too? I have most of them. I collect them at thrift shops. They are fun reads.
JANA - We all agreed here that halftime was the second worst show of all Super Bowl history. A few years ago they had the field covered with "dancers", all in costumes that looked like giant condoms. Now THAT was bad! Personally, I think they should have performances from the high school bands and drill teams from the cities where the teams are from. Or at least music that is of more general interest. So you got your dresser? The one from Costco? We were at Costco yesterday and went and looked. Did you get the one with the 6 drawers - 64" long? And Andrew! So grown up! Where would he like to go if they let him choose? And what if he doesn't want to go but instead wants to enter college right away? Does he have to go?
VALERIE - I have the FGV book (actually I have two of them - it was a good Christmas that year! Plus I have FGV II, and FGV Christmas. I am FGV rich!) Anyhoo - I have lots of 30's fabrics. If I can help, I'm happy to share with you. Let me know. As for illustrious forebears, my mom said one of her aunts had their ancestry traced back to an Irish king. Another aunt snorted at that, so she went further and found a horse thief. So that's my claim to ancient fame!. Mom chose to believe the horse thief story. lol! And is it you that's going to a tea and has to bring hot finger food? What about mini quiches? You could buy little phyllo dough crusts and make your own, or you could buy ready made frozen ones. Quiche is a classic tea party food.
MARY Q - you betcha! Nice to be home and look out at our own trees. Not that I mind looking at other RV's, but home is always best. When are UFO's born? I say, it has to be a project that you have actually started, not just planned. But I've always wondered at what point does it stop being a WIP and become a UFO? Like the Star Silouettes I just finished, or my Crazy Jane, or my Just Plain Crazy quilt. They were all always intended to just be travel projects. I do know that I now have a stack of projects from this winter that need to be finished - backed, quilted, labeled, and bound. Plus two of them, I just made the blocks - still have to assemble them. I think I have 8 all together to finish. (Not to mention a swap and 2 lottos still waiting in the wings.) I am going to be busy for a long while! Glad to hear you got your Alaska quilt out again! Will you go to AK once more before the kids move back to MN?
LYN - Did you get your curtains finished yesterday? Given your use of those curtains, I would think you wouldn't want much gather in them anyway, so I hope you had enough fabric for them all. How about the skirting? Did the guy show? How soon can that be done? I hope it's not too expensive. And not another problem to deal with! Is the come & go leak in your bathroom the reason for the plumber yesterday? Hope it's a simple fix and that it hasn't been there long,
CHRISS - you are off to play the Gramma Game - best game in town! I remember you said Jerry had saved many gallons of water. Maybe he used it to water your yard and trees in dry times? You could do that, too. Or pour it all down squirrel holes. BTW, I got eggs yesterday at Costco - $8.49 for the 2 dozen pack. White or brown.
JUDI - what a brilliant idea! Leave ahead of the storm!

Well, yesterday I got 4 loads of wash done. Still have sheets, blankets, and rugs to go but as Bill is always reminding me, speed kills. So I will do them through the coming week. I got a lot of the trailer cleaned while sitting out the storms in Red Bluff and Houston, so mopping, dusting, and polishing are all done. Next is unloading all those quilts and putting them back where they belong in the house - walls, couches, shelves. I received a thank you card from Leah (of Lemur Quilt fame last year) at the library who was in charge of organizing the quilt show. The library was very pleased with the class and she shared all the comments they received from the students. Apparently I was a hit! And am asked back next year. But now I know more about how to do this. Registration! Class size limit! And must have basic knowledge of sewing and operating a sewing machine and peferably HAVE a sewing machine. And a better one-block pattern. I already suggested that they offer some basic sewing classes through the year, perhaps taught by one of the members of the sewing group that meets in the big room at the library every month. . .
Today is regular grocery shopping and more putzing in my sewing room, putting things away, getting more organized. And my machine really needs to go into the shop for a few weeks at the spa. I remembered I wanted to do that AFTER poor Bill carried it, in it's custom padded case, all the way through the house and up the stairs to my sewing room. So he had to carry it all the way back down again. Next trip to Tacoma, the machine goes along. For now, when I get time to sew again, I have my old Bernie.
I'm trying to decide what to make for supper out of leftover cooked chicken. But when it comes to me - that's what we're having tonite. Along with a salad.
Have a great Tuesday!
