We did finally make it to the Ilani Casino in Vancouver, WA Saturday. We spent the night in their RV parking lot and drove home yesterday morning, arriving here at 7:45 am. It was so nice waking up in our house this morning! I love camping, traveling, but I'd never make it full-time living in an RV. I gotta have my house and beautiful property. Though right now that beautiful property needs some serious yard care! It's going to be a full week of settling back in.
JUDI - how was your trip to visit Nolan? I'm guessing he was pretty happy to see that bread! Yum! Bill's grandparents owned a tavern in Ironwood - The Whitefront Tavern. Then Prohibition came in and it became a "candy store". But there was a basement that wasn't full of candy! And Bill's dad and his brothers became delivery men - on their bikes.

LOIS - Nice of your DBIL and DSIL to help with the outside mess. Especially with you and Bill just getting over the flu. We have quite a mess outside, too, but it isn't snow or ice. A winter's worth of blowdown from all the trees. I think I'll use the snow shovel to push it off the cement parking pads and all into one pile. Bill can use the tractor bucket to haul it to the slash pile in the woods.
VAL - I've never done a BOM. I prefer to work at my own pace. What happened with FGV? Which block were you working on the messed up? Do you really need to buy more fabric? Is there nothing in your stash that you can substitute? Are you making the 12" or the 6" blocks? Are you making FGV I or II?
MARY Q - you were so close! You posted yesterday at 7:20, "As I type this you are probably pulling into your yard". We pulled into the yard at 7:45. Good guess! And yes, I think Lois was the leader of the OWL pack on our forum! I think you would have liked this pattern. You love applique, and the 12" blocks are just that - all applique. The 6" blocks that make up the border are all fairly simple piecing. There is just a lot of quilt! How great that you learned about your overlock foot! I know my machine does overlock stitching but I'm not sure if it needs a special foot or not. Guess I'll look. Maybe I have it. I use my serger for pillowcases, jammie pants, and anything I do with flannel.
LYN - Have you moved anything into your cabin yet? Glad you found the fabric you needed. You have 6 windows and 7 yards was all you needed? Tell your friend, Carol, I say hi! Hope you get the mini-split app figured out.
JANA - glad you got the dresser. I love the smell of cedar! (but then, I live in the middle of a grove of huge cedars.) They make dressers and chests from cedar to prevent moths and preserve your fabric. I wonder if just using drawer liners would work for you. Yesterday's commercials during the game were mild, but a few were pretty good. Lots had big name stars. My favorite was the Budweiser colt making the delivery.
CHRISS - at 8am yesterday that was exactly what we were doing - backing into our RV shelter! And letting the boys out and watching them joyfully run all over the yard, exploring. Glad you declined to do that quilt. What a headache it would be with all those little bags! Several years ago a friend asked me about making a football quilt for her son. When I totted up the costs of fabric, batting, thread, etc. she never said another word. She thought quilts were made out of thin and FREE air, I guess!
LORI - I think Bill was just tired and thought I was done with the pantry and trying to help. And yes, it seems every trip we take has its trials - in 2021 my sister fell and shattered her knee. Plus we all got Covid. Another year 10 friends and relatives died while we were gone. Another year my kitty, Bunny, got sick and died. Another year Bill got really sick with Covid. Another year I ended up in the ER. I tell you, Texas is jinxed!! Everything down there bites, stings, poisons you and the weather will either fry you with the heat, freeze you with the cold, drown you with the torrential rains, or blow you to Louisianna with the winds. The kids do plan to move one day, but not for a few more years.
Yesterday I emptied the trailer pantry, fridge, & freezer, taking everything into the house. Seems we had a lot more food left than I realized! It's quite a trip hauling everything down the trailer steps, through the garage, the family room, up the stairs, and to the kitchen. I must have made 20 trips. I also brought in all my sewing projects so I have a lot of unpacking and organizing to do in the sewing room. I wiped down
all the surfaces in the house first because we bug bombed before we left. They say it's safe for humans and pets, but I like to be sure. We just relaxed in the afternoon. Doyle and Susie brought pizzas over at 2:30 and we enjoyed a long visit in front of the fire then watched the game together. We were all rooting for the Eagles so it was a good game for us.
Today - back into some routine. Bill's going to the gym and Scotty and I'll be walking with Lori Across the Roadat 8:00. There's a lot of laundry to be done, more stuff to bring out of the trailer, and If it warms up enough, I will try to clean up some of the winter blow down outside. It will take me a week or so to get completely resettled. Our fur boys are already in their home routine. Animals, not just elephants, never forget!
Enjoy your day!
