Tuesday, Feb 4

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Feb 04, 2025 4:07 am

Good morning,

We are still sleeping on Texas time. About 7p to 3a. Harder to adjust going west.

Doing the one finger tap thing on my phone. Will be crossing the Mojave Desert today, thru Tehachapi, and down into smoggy Bakersfield for the night. Watching weather. Snow predicted in Siskiyou Mtns which straddle the CA/OR border so we may have to hang an extra day, maybe two, in northern CA. We have a Super Bowl date on Sunday but we may not make it. Oh well

Val, i assume the Farm Girl BOM you are doing is Lori Holt’s FGV? I just watched a Stitchin’ Heaven video by Rob Appell (of Man Sewing fame) about FGV BOM. Hope you saw my travel hint yesterday - nursing stool. Helps low back a lot.

Judi, i set that FPP pattern aside where I will see it easily when we get home.

Chriss, did you get sashing/ borders on? Dont forget photos! Is this First Kiss?

Lois & Jana, anything to report on your OWLS?

Lori, no worries -whatever you dont get done today will still be there tomorrow. Or next week.

Well my finger and hand have gone numb so guess that’s my cue to hang up. We want to get an early start to beat the afternoon wind in the desert.

Later, Dudettes!

Good morning Back to the laundry room today,,,then I will go with my DDil tio a Dr appt. She can drive but cannot lift her wheel chair in and out of the car. It is 20#s I can do that for her, I have done it before. I am on the 3rd border of 4 on the quilt. I get distracted easily..(Thank you Mary) but it will get done...
Ken came into the sewing room yesterday and asked me if he could use my scissors to cut something out of paper. ( I hear you all gasping)..He now knows there is a death sentence connected with that crime...we have paper cutting scissors (so labeled) in this house but he couldnt find them ( they are in the same place they have been for 20 yrs) it just required looking,,,and moving,,,and returning them to the correct drawer when finished with them.. He has been schooled...
Hope you all have a great day. 8 more days for me XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Judi, i’m here to help. 😘. Funny about Kenn and the scissors. They are all the same. I just finished a cozy mystery about three quilters in the 60 to 70 year-old range. They were going to take down the perpetrator so one brought a gun, one brought duct tape, and one brought her sewing scissors. When they got the perp all tied up with duct tape, they asked for the scissors to cut the tape and she said no! These are my sewing scissors. She was willing to stab somebody with them, but not to cut the tape. Left me laughing.

Lois, sorry you caught the bug. I hope your wishy-washy feeling improves through the day.

We hit the road this morning at 5:45 AM. It’s not that we are in a rush, but that we keep waking up so blinkin’ early. But at least we will beat the worst of the headwinds that are forecast to start around 10 AM in the desert.

Overcast morning but no rain.

MaryZ, I almost always post from my phone, using one finger or thumb. I've tried 2 thumbs but not very good at it. Hope you get down the road before the wind picks up. Thanks for the Super Ball reminder. I guess we'll wait to go back to the coast and watch here.

Lois, I'm sorry Bill was so generous with his illness, hope you both are better soon.

Judi, Only a week til you head south, is Ken packed? Hope DDIL appt has good news.

We went to town yesterday. Garry was 2 weeks past due on a haircut. I had to pick up the replacement light and I bought the correct trim to finish cabin.

Cabin is at a stand still. Miguel was going to finish the trim, but text that he has to go to Austin. I called HVAC and the add on part didn't come in yesterday. I will text the electrician and let him know I have the light and hopefully he can come finish that. I have plenty to do around here, not sure which squirrel to chase. As for squirrels, the one at the bird feeders seems quite happy with the food that said squirrels don't like this kind. Dinner will be leftover meatloaf and a veggie.

Enjoy your day.
Lyn

I have 4 male Cardinals at the feeders this morning. Such beautiful birds.

Good morning everyone 🌞
We hit 80° yesterday, it was a beautiful day. I gave Rosie her bath and haircut, she looks so sad when I'm doing it all to her but she never complains.....I think she gets tired of standing so she sits most of the time. I now have 2 nice clean, good smelling and pretty good looking cocker spaniels ☺️ 2 days in a row is a lot though, I could never be a groomer, the hair gets all over me plus I get my shirt soaked during the bathing, not to mention how exhausted I get and the pains just from doing 1 dog a day.
I need to do laundry today and the floors need a little attention and I might as well take the duster across everything.
Tonight is Dad's night, we're having chicken something..... just got to figure out what. Jazmyne is still here too even though we're not cold enough for her car to not start 🤣😂 you all should be here when she gets home from school LOL it makes my head spin as fast as she talks and tells me about her day, she switches subjects faster than I can keep up ☺️ I get such a kick out of her.
You all have a great day! We're supposed to be in the 80°s again, our fruit trees will be blooming and then freeze, ugh.
Prayers for all in need 🙏

Good morning!

I'm still in Utah, I think. The wind howled all night long and calmed a bit as the sun came up. But is still blowing hard. Maryz, you probably won't miss that head wind, it's already blowing!

Today is my eye appointment. I'll get stuff done around here before. No sewing, most likely either.

On the way home from PT yesterday, I noticed that the city finally finished paving a new road. So checked it out. Yup, and it's a good thing, as it cuts off driving time, by skipping a large corner of downtown. Also a shorter way to Aaron's house. And eliminates 5 stoplights! Funny how odd things are entertaining! Like my robot vacuum and my automatic dust pan having a territorial dispute. When the vacuum scoots by the dust pan, the dust pan turns on , making all kinds of noise! Silly things are laughable!

Off to get my day started,

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning Girls

No sun in the sky this morning and per Alexa, tho she didn't actually say it... It's Stinkin' COLD! 3 Below right now getting only up to 11*. I was going to go out to the garage and dig around in some fabric tote boxes, but I'm serious re thinking that plan.

Since I've spent too much time watching the news on line this morning, I won't chat too long now. I have a few things on my to-do list, such as finally put away the clean clothes that are folded in baskets in the laundry away, so that I don't have to walk in my undies to find something to wear. I got a good start on baby girl quilt yesterday and may try to make some more headway on that today. I figure if I get it all done, and I don't like it or I mess it up, I still have time to make a second one. I've also been thinking a lot of seeing if there are other quilters in the area and maybe organizing a little group (did I tell you this?) so I'm kind of working and how to best put that together. Sometime today I also have to work on typing up board meeting minutes before I forget!

So with that... I better get in gear. My coffee is cold!

Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday

My cold still hanging on. But it's minor.

Well day is not starting off well, was trying to bring some sewing stuff in from my car and move my nursing stuff around, miss stepping up high enough and fell on the brick. Fell right on my right knee, it is scraped up, cut my thumb on something and hit my head on the handicapp ramp. Jarred my back by this evening or tomorrow I expect I will be quite sore.

My chair is in so need to go pick it up which is why I was trying to make room in my car. Also have one patient to see this afternoon. I did meet the new quilter yesterday. She said if I can get the quilt to her by the end of the week, She can have it back to me by next week so that is good. Same price as my other quilter.

I was able to get the center of my KT quilt done with the exception of the bottom sashing row and sewing the top half to the bottom half. Then just the borders. I will try to get some of that done before the next meeting so I can be sure and call it finished at the next meeting. We meet the first Monday of every month. Next KT quilt will be Ryan's Sampler.

Maryz yes the Farm Girl is Lori Holt's. It is ready so will pick it up today. Yes I saw your hint about travel. I will look into it. My friend lives in northerm ca and yes they are getting significant snow. I can't think of the name of the town but it is not far from the Oregon border.

Judi hoping Ken learns quickly. DH knows to never ever use my scissors. When the kitchen shears broke, he had me to go buy new ones right away. Guess he didn't want to get into a bad situation.

Lois so sorry to hear you are under the weather. Nice of Bill to share but really?

Lyn I am no good at the typing with thumbs either. Have no idea how the kids do it so quickly. They say California has Cardinals but I have never seen one.

Tina Wow, 80 degrees, we will remain in the 50's and today is supposed to be the worst one for rain. And at just about the time I have to go see my patient. UGH!

Jana sure wish they would do something with roads here. They are horrible. So many potholes.

Maryq sounds like a wonderful idea, and I don't remember hearing it before.

Flo prayers for successful surgery today.

Chriss what is happening with your weather?

Well I am off to take some IBU cuz I can feel things starting to hurt. Have a great day everyone.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!
