Good morning,

Our last day in Austin. Will spend part of it with the kids, noshing and celebrating a great visit, pick up the last of my quilts from the library, and, I'd say make an early night of it, but if we went to bed any earlier, it would still be daylight out! lol!

VAL - I'm excited for your trip. Do you know what month you'll be on the road? There is a lot of beautiful country you will get to see in between all those folks you are visiting. Glad you are planning to see MSQC. I think of it as Quilters' Disneyland. We stopped there about 7 years ago and it took us half a day to see it all and that was rushing it, and I believe it's nearly doubled since then. Be prepared to spend an entire day at least. And save a spot in your car for all the wonderful goodies you won't be able to resist!

CHRISS - your wish for me is coming true! Yesterday was everlasting - we're going back today! Our regular hours - 9:30 to naptime which happens about 2-ish. I thought it would be just a shortie visit to say goodbye but Antonio said come for one more whole day! So Marilyn's plans changed. I hope she finds her happy some day. Has she thought about a school of some sort. Our friends' DD finally decided to go to school in her mid-30's to become an ultrasound tech and it turned her life around. I think her training was about 15 months. You and your dad have a little dance going on. I bet he makes those messes on purpose just to make you smile.

TINA - Lucky Frankie to arrange to have Pie Day on his Birth Day! Nice Jaz and friends have a safe and fun place to go after school! I understand being attached to a car. I still miss my 1964 turquoise Impala. What a beauty it was. I feel so sorry for Holly. Sorry she doesn't have replacement insurance. This same thing happened to Sue when they still lived in Bellingham, WA. They had just arrived in Houston for the holidays with their kids when someone checked on her house and found the flood. So they raced home (racing is hard to do towing a 34 foot fifth-wheel 2,800 miles). Kenn did much of the repair work himself - floors, cabinets, walls, and wiring all had to be replaced. They had to move out of the house for four months while the work was being done for fear of mold. (after their experience we now ALWAYS turn the water off to the house even if we're only gone for overnight. We even turn it off at the trailer if we leave for just an hour. We have seen RV's with water pouring out of them and the people gone for the day.)

JANA - we found eggs at Safeway (called Randall's here in TX but it's really a Safeway) and bought for us and some for Autumn. But there was a sign warning people to expect a shortage soon. I am making deviled eggs to take to kids because Antonio loves them and I'm going to make sure he realizes what a gem of a DMIL he has! What a bunch of hoops to jump through for Ethan's math class! Glad it's all worked out but does this mean YOU have to pick him up every day? Or will it be whoever is available? Can he ride a bike to/from school? I hope you found those glasses.

LYN - thanks for the tutorial on Pie Day. I figured it had something to do with real pie, not pi. Lois told me she is taking a break from QIAD because, since Judi, me, and my DH (Q has his e-mal addy, too) all got that bogus e-mail a few weeks ago she feared it might have originated with Q being hacked. Bill traced it through channels that IT people have and learned it came from an area 2-3 hours north of San Marcos, but as a cautionary measure, Lois has left us for a while. Not sure how long a while that will be. Oh, I hope your scratchy throat is nothing. The news here is that lots of stuff is floating around Texas now: Flu, Covid, RSV, pneumonia. Stay well!!

MARY Q - glad that quilt is done! Now, what will you do with it? Did you quilt it or are you sending it to Viv? And yes, that's the plan - to make an annual scrapbook for Amara of our visits to Texas. The books cost us about $50 each (we get one for her, for her parents, and for us) which is MUCH cheaper than scrapping it the traditional way. And every visit we'll take a special photo of us with her to put in the 8x10 frame we bought her last year. There is a cam in her room and Autumn says can hear and see her talking to our photo. So, is the plan that your kids will move back to MN as soon as school is out in 2026? That's only 16 months! Months go by quickly!

LORI - I love Buttermilk Basin's projects. I have two of their books and an overflowing tote of wools (mostly wool clothing I picked up at thrift shops, cut up, and washed in hot water). And now handwork is hard for my hands! But I keep on keeping on - just much more slowly. Are you getting the hang of bridge?

JUDI - I well remember when your kids were in MN and how hard it was on you. Was that for about 2 years? Autumn moved to L.A in 2006 and then to TX in 2012. I doubt they will ever move back to WA. His aunt who raised him lives in PA and he feels responsible for her as she ages. And both their best friends, plus my two sisters all live in CO. If they ever leave TX, my guess is they will go to CO. You and Ken really made a night of it, didn't you! At least you messed up only one night with your equipments, not two! I have also purchased a few back issues of BLOCK magazine from them. I have them all from the very beginning, but somewhere along the line, I lost a couple. Bill replaced them for my birthday one year.

FLO - I've never heard of strawberry snickerdoodles, but why not! Just change out the flavoring and add color if desired. I love snickerdoodles. And what a fun little "not tea party" y'all had!

So, while it's not a work day - hence a babysitting day - we are still invited back to the kids for our regular hours - 9:30 to 2-ish. We'll leave when Amara goes down for her nap. I'm taking Brie cheese w/nut and dried cherry topping & crackers, deviled eggs, fancy olives, and swiss cheese and spicy brown mustard (Antonio's favorite snack common in PA). And a bottle of proseco. We'll pick up our last quilts on our way home as we pass the library on our route. Packing the last of them in will take up what's left of our afternoon. I am going to count those appetizers as supper. If Bill needs more sustenance, he can always make popcorn. Tomorrow morning we will pull in our connections - water and sewer hoses and power cord, hitch up, and be off to Houston for 4 nights before starting for home next Thursday. We expect to be home in time for Super Bowl which is Feb 9. We have company coming to watch the game! The company being Doyle & Susie. Doyle goes through our house every 2 weeks checking things he thinks should be checked. Would it be tacky to ask him to clean the house to make ready for our Super Bowl company??

Enjoy your Saturday!

Good Morning up and moving we have volleyball tournament today,,we will stay for the first set and then see when Sophia plays again it is at ken's rink (they have ice and volleyball and soccer there, ) So I am sure everything will be in tip top shape for his granddaughter, The tournment goes to 730 pm but there is no way we will stay for it all....DD has to stay since Jeff is out of town this weekend...but we may go back if she calls us...
Liam has pneumonia and is on meds so no hockey this weekend...he is better and is hoping to play on tuesday,,but pneumonia takes a lot out of you...we are hoping to get a few games in before we leave for florida/ Speaking of I have been going through the summer clothes and over thinking it again,,,,i have too much set out to take...and I havent even gotten to the shoes yet,,,I am out of control.....
I have about half of the quilt pieced and will work on more this weekend if i am home...ken seems to find things to do and places to go.

Apparently my monitor is meant for someone who lays perfectly still on their back at night...I had to change leads again last night and at this rate I wont have enough. replacements to last the entir month.
.. also had an event (rapid heart rate) and got a call to go in and have an EKG at my cardiolofgist office,,seems the newbie dr who works on fridays, when my regulat is off was too worried, so we ran in there last afternoon

Good morning Girls

Not much in the way of sunshine here this morning...hence it will get a little warmer today. I always look at the weather a few days in advance too and by next Wednesday it looks like we might hit 40 !!! Winter isn't over quite yet here, but I sure enjoy the warmer days! My furnace likes it too as it doesn't have to work so hard!

Maryz.... Wouldn't it be fun if Autumn could sneak in and video Amara talking to your pictures!! When Bren graduated from High School, the kids had one of those books made for me of all his graduation pictures!! Yes that $#(&$(%^$ quilt is done, except for binding) and I have NO idea what I'm going to do with it. Just add it to the pile I suppose. I did talk to the activities director at a local assisted living center and she was going to ask some of her residents if they wanted a little quilt and get back to me---that was 2 weeks ago. I may call her this week, if nobody wants any, I'll go with plan B---as soon as I figure out what that is! You have a perfect menu for the day!!!

Lois..... Great to see you!!! I was just thinking about you yesterday. You haven't had any more issues from being hacked? I think my e-mail mailbox is 99% junk when I check it in the morning. I even got a text the other day that my Amazon order was cancelled---I hadn't ordered anything from Amazon! at least not that I remembered, but I was able to look at my Amazon account to verify--nope!

Judi.... You know, I never used to think pneumonia was that big of a deal... until I had it!! It sure can just suck all your energy out of you. Hope Liam feels better soon! A little bit of Levaquin should fix him up! :D I even had my pneumonia shots! HHHmmmm I wonder If I need a booster. Do you suppose they could set you up with a different monitor? That's crazy that you have to change the leads all the time. My heart rate only goes up when a really cute/handsome man walks by! Maybe Ken walked by you?

Lyn... Sounds like they are making good progress on your little building. Do you have a name for it? as in "She Shed" or "Sewing Fort" or "Creativity Center" ? Were you able to get enough outlets without needing to borrow electricity from a neighbor?  Can't wait to see it all set up and I bet it will take a little while to get it all just the way you want it.

Jana... $7.00 a dozen for eggs???? I think I paid $5.99 for 18 at the Target the other day. I should probably cook a lot of them up -- I do enjoy a good egg salad sandwich. Nice that they were able to work out Ethan's schedule. He's a smart kid if he realized that new math class just wasn't going to work for him.

Tina... OH my gosh... Poor Holly!!! What a mess that has to be with water everywhere!!! I had a toilet leak, slow leak, not a gusher and it wasn't covered by insurance at all! Well, kind of sort of... generally a slow leak isn't covered but since there was some damage they covered part of it!! It was the upstairs toilet so it leaked through to the downstairs ceiling. Cleaning up water mess is not fun at all!!

Chriss... So Marilyn didn't move to Michigan (?) after all? She got back with the boyfriend? Sometimes that can be a good thing, to break up for a while. Dex and I broke up before we got we eventually got back together and got married ,... but then again, maybe that's not such a great story   I got my kids out of the deal, so it all worked out in the end! The onesie that I did yesterday, knock on wood, turned out pretty good! But since I only have small hoop, it's kind of pain to do them... I take out the side seams, and that helps, but I don't have a serger to sew the seams back up again and they get a little wonky in my regular machine.

Valerie.... Once you get your trip laid out... IF there's time I'd love to try to meet in Minnesota!!

Since it is Saturday I suppose I should do a few chores today, I think the floors are ok for another week, but it sure looks like a fabric store blew up in here!! I need to re-org some of it and get it back out to the garage. Since I finished Carrie Nation, I might haul out the either the baby boy quilt or the baby girl quilt and get a little start on one of them.

But first, more coffee... then a shower!!

Wishing you all the very best the day can bring

Good morning!

I've got snow! More like a dusting of powdered sugar on a cake, but it's still snow!

Daniel just stopped by. He on his way north to a area called Willard Bay. He found a guy selling a piece of track, real live rail and is going to get it. It's to be laid in the backyard and look just like a railroad track. We even have a real set of crossbucks - that is a sign placed that indicates a railroad crossing. The sign makes a big X, with the words, Railroad Crossing. Daniel found this one in California when he was fighting a wildland fire, the pole burnt away, and now the sign lives here. You'd be surprised at what a fire engine carries. πŸ˜€

Aaron's on duty, dealing with snow and the accidents it causes. Yesterday he had to deal with a major road closure caused by a contractor breaking open a large natural gas line. Evacuations, etc until they got the line capped off. So happy on some of the deportations happening here. There's a violent gang that is trying to operate here and some of PD crossed them and that gang issued death threats against those officers. That included Aaron. This has been hanging over my family for several months, hence the joy in the new immigration orders. It's been scary.

Since it's snowing, I have no place to go, it playtime n the Batt Cave. Yes, we found Mr G's glasses. He has 4 different sets of glasses for different tasks. We have all accounted for now. So far nothing missing, well maybe my sanity!

Hugs,
Jana

Cloudy, 42Β°.

Well my cabin is ready for the electrician to finish his job, then HVAC guy to put in mini split and finally the flooring guy. Flooring is scheduled for next Thursday, I hope the other 2 can get their part done so I don't have to reschedule floor. Here it is so far. I'm glad they enclosed the little attic space that's over the front porch. I can still store things, like batting up there since they put 2 small doors in.

MaryZ, safe travels tomorrow. Tell CindyG hello and give her a hug from me.

Hope to sew a little today, may need a nap.

Good morning everyone 🌞
We're finally out of the single digits and the teens! We're going to be 64Β° today πŸŽ‰
Maryz, I'm not sure if Holly turns her water off when they go out of town but this just happened when they were all at school and work, kinda crazy. If anything gets done by them the them will most likely be Holly, Frankie and Jazmyne since we all know that Adam can't do anything....it is what it is 🀷. I'm really hoping she gets enough money to get it all done by a professional so it gets done faster and better really..... Frankie has so much to do these days that he's not able to get to everything but I know him, if she asks he'll do his best to help her.... we're both crazy like that LOL
Lois, looking forward to seeing your quilt! You've gotten a lot done in your week.
Judi, I hope Liam gets well fast! πŸ™ Oh goodness, your monitor must be a pain, hopefully your time with it will zoom by. I love to watch volleyball 😊 enjoy!
Chriss, I looked up your Janome 8900qcp, it's a really nice looking machine! Almost exactly like mine that I use all the time, if I lived close to you I'd buy it from you 😊 Why don't you like it? Or is it one you just don't use anymore?
Well Holly asked me to make donuts last night but then Frankie said we were going to Cruces to get rollers he needs for the last barn door so I told Holly I couldn't make donuts this morning......now Frankie says he doesn't feel like going to Cruces today so donuts are back on. So I gotta get busy.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need πŸ™
Tina

\Tina, I'll be over for some homemade doughnuts. That sounds yummy.

Judi, I'm sure you'll figure out your wardrobe soon. The thing about warm weather clothes, is they take up less room in your suitcase than winter clothes. So you can take more. Bummer Liam is under the weather. Hope he's feeling better soon.

Lyn, your sewing space looks wonderful. I want to come sew with you.

Jana, that will be a fun thing in your backyard.

Maryq, it was 80 for 2 days and today might make it to 60*. We always have a few days in January like that.
It's crazy weather though. It was only 48* when I went out for a walk this morning. Brrrr

Maryz, I know you are enjoying every last minute with the family. I remember when Sue had the water leak in WA. What a mess. We've had water lines break under the sink when we're home. When it's ready to spring a leak, it doesn't matter where you are.

So what's the issue with the eggs? I saw there was a shortage and some places are out. I know chickens lay less in winter. I need to finish up some cleaning today. Then I'll work on my new wool kits. I'll get them all cut out and ready to sew down.

Dinner will be a roast I need to put into the crockpot. I didn't do it yesterday. We had orange chicken and fried rice last night instead.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning. It's supposed to rain here and dump a bit of snow in the mountains. I'm not holding my breath.

I've made myself a small chore list and when that is complete, I am going to go sew. I have sashing to cut for the kiss quilt. I also have some outside chores needing done but with this impending deluge of rain in the forecast I think it's best I stay inside and retreat to the safety of my sewing room.

Valerie, nice of DH to plan the travel route. Make sure he isn't stopping by where his brother is living, if he's still living there. I sent an email to the quilt shop where I bought that Janome 8900 Horizon machine. I'm hoping they will let me trade it in on a smaller lighter machine. I only paid $500 for it and it was a trade in when I bought it.

Maryz, I think your dinner sounds wonderful. Making Antonio deviled eggs is paying off, he invited you to bring the food today. woo hoo. So glad your yesterday lasted a long time. I hope Mailyn wakes up one day too. Sometimes I think it's just in her genes. Her goal is to fianlly get her drivers license. She will be 22 in March. and take online classes so she can be a veterinary assisstant. I'm hoping she actually follows through because if she doesn't then her only claim to fame will be the oldest employee of Dollar General in history, providing they give her her job back. I'm not really sure what her future will be, but she is an adult and on her own, she will need to be in charge of her own successes and failures.

Lois, I have been thinking of you the last couple of days. Nice to "see" you. Now that the Sandi quilt is done what is your next project?

Judi, I think Mexican food is a marvelous reward. Lucky you. Is the monitor malfunctioning? Hope Liam feels better soon, and I hope the game for Sophia is in her favor. It would be easy for me to pack to go someplace, I don't have a lot of clothes, or a lot of shoes.

Maryq, I get lots of junk email too. The one I get often during the day is from Microsoft and it's the numeric code to reopen my account. I don't use the microsoft email address but went totheir site and changed the password just incase. I bypass those emails and go directly to the website. You'll figure out who to give those quilts to.

Bet you didnt even know I was gone. A friend called, she wanted to walk. We normally don't walk on weekends but did 2.5 miles. I've had breakfast, did a little around here and here I am to finish my morning post.

Jana, sounds like a fun place to be, your yard. I'll bring my engineers cap if I head your way.

Lyn, wow. What a wonderful playhouse you have there. I love it all. Plugs above and below, storage, great lighting from all those windows and the lights in the ceiling. It's just perfect. we may never see you again. What a dream space.

Tina, I don't know why I even bought that machine. My old Singer was causing trouble and I bought the Janome to be it's replacement. The Janome is quite heavy and I just never got to using it. I have a babylock Jazz2 that I quilt on and last year bought a Singer similar to the one I had. I really want somehting smaller and light weight. Hoping that will happen soon.

Lori, eggs. Seems that the bird flu has, from what I read on the internet, killed off 10% of the nations chickens. Sounds to me, and I'm no expert, but if some of those hens just had a rooster or two run through the henhouse once in a while they could hatch some of those eggs and taaa daaaa, more egg layers. I have a roast thawing in the fridge now, probably stick it in the crock pot tomorrow.

Not sure what dinner will be, I've had a turkey lunchmeat with cheese the last couple of nights. Time for something different. I really need to hit a grocery store but just haven't done that yet. Perhaps next week.

I need to start my day, you girls have fun

Well, I get down here and start working on stuff in the Batt Cave and my good sewing chair broke! So my sewing for today is done! I spent time researching a new chair for the Batt Cave and found several that would work, until I read all the reviews, back to research and did finally fine one that wasn't outrageously priced that will work. You see I am tall and need the extra height from the floor to the seat because of my long legs. So ordered it and it should be here on the 30th! Hurry up Amazon!

The Batt Cave is toasty warm too, from the mini split system we added at Christmas. Even the floor has the chill gone - it's just the normal cement for a basement floor. We also got about 3 inches of the white stuff outside. Yippee!
