Good morning,

We are warming up! I woke up to 31*! And we're going to 56*.

JUDI - You know, Ken said you could get a new machine - he never said you can't keep your old one . . . . . We had the same discussion here for 2 years and I finally gave in when I saw my shop had a big sale on a machine I liked. And I love it! My old one is my travel and back up machine. Though I bring the good one to Texas because we are gone so long. I have a Bernina traveling case that is really well padded. Bill got it for me for Christmas one year. That is a lot of paperwork to shred! At a dollar per pound I would weigh it, too! Bill has our shredder next to his desk in his office and he shreds as he goes.

DIANE - I love those memorable moments! We had kids playing in the snow here in our RV park, too, even though we only had about 1/2". It was fun to hear them! We saw Pensacola, FL got 6"! I hope the labs come back better next draw. And it's amazing how many things can be caused by dehydration - headaches, leg cramps, insomnia, electrolyte imbalances (very important!), and more. Sometimes I have to force myself to drink more water.

VAL - wow! Your gas prices are down! WA is much higher - nearly a dollar per gallon, total tax. Our gas prices were about $4.69 when we left last Nov. Diesel was over $5. In Texas, we're paying $3.09 for diesel and I see gas is about $2.49, depending on the station. Really sorry to hear about the mess you are in with your monitoring company. That is a lot of moola! I wonder if the BBB has received any other complaints about it. Also sorry you live in a crime-y place. How long til your DH retires? Will you move then? Good tip about machine needles! Thx!

LYN - what a frustrating day you must have had! But I'm happy that you were finally able to get your fax sent. I sure hope there is more than just $11 in this for you! Oh, back in 2021 we were leaving Austin anyway but we had been planning to go south to the Rio Grande Valley for two weeks, not north to snowy Colorado, but family wins out every time. My DS and DBIL needed us.

JANA - So, no one is staying your your Mr. G at his 2 appts? Will he be OK on his own? I think you said for PT you have to wait in the car (and it's probably cold!) but is the other appt with a dr and, if so, will he be able to understand and repeat to you what the doctor tells him? For everything going on right now, you got a lot of stuff done at home! You reminded me that we should stop on our way home today and look for eggs. (and chardonnay, but that's another list. :D )

TINA - lots of fires for Frankie to put out yesterday! I've heard of people throwing a quilt over their engine in cold weather like other people cover plants. Don't know if it works though. Maybe add a heating pad? And what happened at Holly's house that caused the flood! A burst pipe? And was Frankie able to fix it? What a mess! Sounds like it was a skating rink throughout the entire house! I'm assuming Holly's husband was no where to be found.

CHRISS - I hope it doesn't take too long to re-establish Gramma Thursday. It wasn't me who told you about Durathons, but MQ. But I have one because she told me, too! I like mine a lot. It's going to take me a while to get used to it again when I go home after using my little travel iron for 3 months. If you aren't feeling achy breaky then you probably don't need/want tumeric. But if/when you do choose to start taking it, I'm learning here the last few days that there are different grades of it so I guess I need to do some research. Costco sells it in Costco-sized quantities and in different forms - capsules, liquids - and different brands.

FLO - I'm not sure what you meant by having to "split the case". Sounds like you took an ax to your friend's machine! Every three years I buy a maintenance agreement at my sewing machine shop. The amount at the time is a bit staggering, but then I can take my machine in as often as I want for complete cleanings. They do any needed repairs for free and I get 25% off any parts needed. Though I've never been charged for parts even though they've made a few minor repairs. Also, I thoroughly clean and oil my machine every 5 bobbins but I de-lint it at least every bobbin.

LORI - You must be pretty far away from the new fire if you didn't know about it. Let's hope it, and any other fires, stay away from you!

Yesterday was a good day with Ms. Boots. Both parents were home but out of sight for the most part - Autumn was prepping for today's test and Antonio was working in his office. We played with Amara. Took her outside and we had enough snow left to make 3 little snowmen and set them on the outside coffee table. Sadly, they were about gone by evening. She wasn't too sure about snow until she equated it with the movie "Frozen", which she loves. All the little snowmen we made were "Olaf". ☃️☃️☃️ The kids had a lot of fresh veggies that were going downhill so I made a crockpot full of veggie soup for them. Have no idea how it turned out. I just tossed in what they had, including some of those rogue sweet potatoes that Autumn was peeling when she cut the tip off her finger. (it's healing nicely, btw). Today the parents will be gone for several hours so we'll be on our own. Their front door knob wouldn't work yesterday so if Antonio didn't get it fixed yet, Bill, who never leaves home without a tool box, will look at it today while they are gone. Supper tonite is going to be alfredo carbonara. And a salad.

I hope everyone has as good a day as we plan to have!

Morning
Maryz, split case, means we exposed the inner workings of machine to oil those parts a shop would. A lot if work, but my friend could not afford a newer machine or a service man.
Yesterday I made sourdough bread for supper and apple turnovers for breakfast today. I consider that a good days work.
Piccolo is out of garage for a few days, my poor baby. Joe has the small pickup in garage as he listed it for sale and needs to clean interior.
I may sew something today. I have holiday vests for all holidays in my closet, some if I add a bit to sides DGD can wear them. She's non verbal autistic and much bigger than me...I'm the small Gramma.

Good morning!

Sarah takes and stays through the Dr appointments. Takes good notes because Mr G does mess up remembering. With PT, it's a long walk and that team does all the exercises with him. Yes, it's cold outside, but I take a quilt to keep warm. Park so the sun shines on the car for a bit of solar warming too. PT changed yesterday to now just twice a week. All hospitals seem to have a easy front entrance and then everything is down at the other end of the building, round, up and down , several different halls, and out in the back forty!

Not much around here today. More time in the Batt Cave. We're getting 2 new laptops. Mr G is slow about upgrading, but finally gave in. He gave Matt specs on what is necessary and Matt will get the order ready. After final approval, Matt will order them. The new computers will be Dell Latitudes, wide screen, with built in numeric keypad, with all kinds of internal special stuff. All the kids are very picky on their computers, nothing off the shelf. My only say in all of this, is, my sewing machine software has to run on the new operating system or else I get a new sewing mach8ne! Which ain't cheap! I have been assured it will run,.

Well, it's lightened up outside and is 14 degrees with a possible high over freezing. No snow until Saturday.

I've seen pictures of the new fire and have chased trains and train tracks through that area. Recognized the road. Went that way to San Diego, on our way to QIAD. Never take the main freeways, if there's train tracks to find. That's what side roads are for!

Hugs, and stay warm!
Jana

Good Morning I was up early but have decided to wait for Maryz to start us off each morning here,,,It is easier than editing for double posts. We had another inch or so of snow lst night and we are warming to the 20s...I have nowhere to go so It can look nice till Ken comes home...
Today I inventoried the freezer and I have aboiut 6 months worth of stuff in there so I am good. I will put flour on the list of stuff to buy when I gt home from florida. as that is my only low ingredient. Tonight I will make Lyn's pork chops with dressing as I have that and some home grown green beans from the freezer too.
I got my heart monitor yesterday and since it was delivered in the sub zero weather we decided to wait til this morning when all was warm to put it on. It is NOT water proof and will need to be taken off for pool or hot tub use,,,and re applied each time...The nurse at the office said it was water proof and didnt need to be changed,,,but it is what it is,,,I will deal with it as needed,,,I am hoping it is queit and I dont need any surgical intervention..and they gave me all the postage paid return packaging...I can return it from florida if it comes to that,,,Last time I wore a monitor due to frequent episodes of rapid heart rate,,,I had none for the 30 days I hd the monitor on. Dr said a watched pot never boils....
Since all my chors are done I am off to the sewing machine to try and get more of this quilt made...I am hoping my thread comes soon so I can get sewing and finish this top..
Heres to a great day,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo

Maryz, glad you got to enjoy more time with the little miss. I bet playing in the snow was fun for her.

Jana, following the tracks is a great idea.

Judi, you must be getting excited about your trip. You're definitely in need of R&R after the year you've had. I'll be looking for thread at the quilt show today.

Yesterday was dad's birthday. We took him a cake and ice cream. Today I'm going to Road2CA quilt show. I'll be heading out in about an hour. I'll meet up with a few friends there. It's supposed to hit 80*
today. Crazy weather.

Have a lovely day.

Good Morning Girls

Gosh, sorry I missed you all yesterday! I did start a nice little post and then looked up and noticed a gremlin had run through my living room so thought I would go tackle the mess she left behind (at my house the gremlins are all girls) Once I started that then another little mess popped up---don't you hate that!

Maryz... There's still snow on the ground there? I saw various little videos on facebook last night of the folks in Florida and Houston that got so much snow. We are prepared for it up here with all the right plows and treatments for the roads. Sometimes when they know a storm is coming they can pretreat the roads a bit. I bet there were a zillion little fender-benders all over. I've seen the Houston highways, and if Austin has any like that... what a mess!!! Two things you need to fix anything: Bill and a tool box!!

Flo.... Like most things these days... Getting a sewing machine fixed is quite an expense. The place I bought my embroider machine from charges about $189. (last I checked) to just LOOK at it!! My guy that does my regular machine--his full service cleaning is about $90.!!! I'm glad for your friend that you are able to do some of the maintenance on her machine. Some of the older are so much easier to get at to clean!

Jana... Oh yes, that's a MUST have in a new computer system... that it will run the sewing software!! I have just a little Microsoft Surface laptop which is fine for me, but none of the new computers these days have a CD drive!!! So I had to buy an external CD drive so I can transfer embroidery files from a CD to a flash drive. If you buy embroidery files in CD form, you might want to ask Matt about that!!

Judi...What kind of thread do you use in your LA? From our buy nothing group I was able to get some cones of thread, it's Coats poly thread. I didn't realize Coats did cones of poly thread. I might try it on my Carrie Nation, that I have finally pinned and am ready to quilt. Glide Thread is my absolute favorite! I'd have every color is I could afford it and have a place to store it. Viv uses mostly Glide in her APQS LA. Since does LA'ing for me I order thread for her once in a while.

Diane... Just in case you stop by.... Have you ever heard of Cirkul Water Bottles? If you need to get Joe to drink more water, check these out
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Cirkul-16oz- ... 1a5c8bee4a
They have a little flavor cartridge that can add a little something to water--sometimes it's hard to gag down a lot of water and the flavors really help. I got them from Amazon for the kids this year and they seem to really like them. Got one for me too! Walmart carries a TON of different flavors!

Chriss... Your Little boy is 4 months old already!! I hope you can work out something so you can go see him on a regular basis with the kids going back to work. Will they have weekends off?

Oh dear, I better get going. Need a quick shower--only because I have to go out in public today. Time for my annual eye check up. Since Evie is borrowing my car for a while (hers died) she will come and get me and drop me off. The Dr office is about 4 blocks away, and if it weren't so stinkin' cold I'd be tempted to walk home. Appointment is at 3 so I have a little time before I get eyes dilated to work on my CN quilt... it's all pinned and ready to go. I'd sure pat myself on the back if I could get that done before the weekend!

Keep warm y'all!!

Happy National Pie Day!
I get an email newsletter called, Brighter Side of News, and that was their headline.

There were no birds at the feeders when I came out of the bedroom. Then I saw why, there was some type of small hawk on the fence. He had his eye on two little birds that were trying to hide in the crepe myrtle bush. He would circle it, then sit on the fence. I shoed him off when I went to check on the cabin. He'll have to find his meal in someone else's yard.

MaryZ, I hope Autumn's test goes well. How fun to make snowmen with Amara. You know the nice thing about most Texas grocery stores is you can get eggs and wine in one stop. I have been drinking Estancia Chardonnay, it has a nice favor.

Judi, Bummer that the monitor isn't waterproof. Hope your time in Florida doesn't include sitting in snow.

Lori, Belated Happy Birthday to your Dad's.

I need to run to Marble Falls, on a couple errands, but I'm waiting for the construction guys to show up. It's only 32°, so I'm sure they're waiting for it to warm up a little. I'm not going to say anything about sewing, if I don't, maybe it will really happen.

Tonight will be leftover Pork ribs and asparagus or Almond crusted chicken breasts and asparagus, depending on how much I want to cook.

Hope y'all have a great day.
Lyn

Good morning. Happy Spring. Craziest weather, we should see 65 today and our rain has been pushed out to Sunday. If the weather keeps this up it will soon be 100* at Christmas. And we will be dreaming of a white 4th of July.

I'm hogging the laundry room this morning. load two of maybe 4 but definatly 3 is in the washer. I'm doing the bedding and towels

Maryz, I'm so glad you are getting to play in the snow with your best girl. It's good to be you. I remember when Frozen came out. Everyone everywhere was singing Let It Go. Veggie soup sounds like the perfect build a snowman dinner.

Flo, great idea altering your vests to fit DGD. I used to love getting to be able to wear grandma's clothes. She had some knee high zip up leather boots that I looked beautiful in. You are a fun grandma.

Jana, what fun to have a new laptop. I agree about the numeric key pad, a nice convenience. Hope you love it. You always know that if you follow the tracks you will eventually go right through a town where you could find interesting things. And if you find a town you aren't lost.

Judi, I hope the heart monitor tells on you just enough so the doctors can know what you are up to. 6 months in the freezer is a lot of stuff. I bet there are some good finds in there, while you are in Florida I might stop by and check for myself.

Lori, I would love to go to Road 2 Ca. the local shop hop here is so spread out and only about 5 shops, I don't even bother anymore. They used to have one that was near Buelton, not sure if it's still on or not. Have a fun time.

Maryq, something will get worked out so I can see Elliott on a regularish basis. The kids just need to settle into a routine first. Yes, he's 4, almost 5 months old and considering some new teeth to celebrate. You really need to work on taming those gremlins. So nice that you get to loan Evie your car.

Lyn, nice to save those little birds. Hope they treat you with a song later. I vote for almond chicken and extra asparagas.

I will go for a walk with my peeps this morning then come home and wipe down the window frames in the house. They are metal and sweat, I want to be sure they aren't getting moldy with the moisture. I hate metal frames and some day will have them replaced, but not today.

I did get started on my first kiss quilt yesterday, today I will finish the small blocks and cut the sashing. It is a pretty basic panel thing. Also included in my day will be making a donation pile for the Catholic church.

Last nights dinner, mock chicken parm, was good, I wil have the rest of it tonight. I tried something I read about. It said to take rotisserie chicken and put it in a zip lock bag and massage the meat off the bone. For me it worked. I guess if you had a whole chicken you'd have to do it in parts but what a wonderful way to not have icky hands.

You girls have a great day.

Good morning everyone!
We are still cold but 10° warmer than the last few days!
The insurance adjuster went to Holly's yesterday, they found a leaky pipe in the bathroom. She doesn't have replacement cost coverage so they will depreciate stuff plus her almost 3K deductible......so we'll see what they say. I'd never seen so much water in a house before.
We had 3 water lines break out back so Frankie spent hours fixing those, they were very well wrapped and insulated but it didn't seem to help.
Today is Frankie's birthday so I'm off to make pecan pies, 1 for him and 1 for Jazmyne, their FFA auction is tonight and they get hundreds of dollars for these pies so I do the best one I can for her.
Yesterday I took Preston and Jazmyne to the dentist while Holly took off work to meet with the adjuster......it was a very busy day.
I hope you all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need 🙏
