Good morning,
It's nearly 50* here this morning. But in a few days - brrrr....!!! It's coming. Weβre going to grill chicken tonight while the grilling weather is somewhat passable.
LOIS - I Googled Sandi's Tulip Talk quilt. Very pretty! What colors did she use? Did you get it sandwiched?
JUDI - Your quilt may be a bit tedious but it will be so pretty! Do you think you will you get it finished before leaving for FL?
LYN - Thx for sharing your photo. It's been 48 years since I was around sheetrock, tape, mud, etc but I do recall if it dries too quickly it will crack. I think the same premise is true of lemon merengue pies.
When you go back to the coast, how long will you be there before coming back to the house again? I hadn't read that Block will be changing it's size. Rats. It's the purrfect size for my storage place I have for all my back issues. I hope they don't mess with the paper quality. Again. It's better than other magazines but not as good as it used to be.
LORI - I hope you got your shopping done and today is all about your sewing room. Do you have any big projects in the works right now?
JANA - I saw a van yesterday all painted up for Christmas. They were a light hanging business and I thought of you. Such a smart idea to start a business like this. And what is Stu doing these days? We haven't had an update on him lately. Job? Girlfriend?
MARY Q - Did you ever get your groceries? My DMIL used to shop every day. She never had more than about 3 days worth of food in her cupboards, freezer, fridge. They would have starved in a blizzard! Stock up is my advice. How is your C.N. quilt coming along?
TINA - Will you have your placemats finished in time for Valentine's Day? Did you say your have more snow on the way?
CHRISS - your family really has had a hand in settling your area! Your roots go deep. Just like mine in Gig Harbor. So - did your Gr Gr Uncle ever find any gold? Tomorrow is Thursday!!
Yesterday was sweet. We took Amara for a long - 1-1/4 hour - walk/stroll through their neighborhood. Daddy was going to be on a business call in his home office and wanted a quiet background so our job was to ensure that quiet. Turns out that call lasted 3-1/2 hours! After our walk Ms Boots was jazzed like we've not seen her before. Usually she's very quiet but yesterday she was playing dog I guess and kept running through the house, giggling, and barking ARK! at the top of her lungs. lol! So much for quiet. So we all went out to the backyard where we spent a while giving Scottie a haircut and then eating lunch al fresco. We got home about 4pm and I finished up my Star Silhouettes. Took longer because I sewed the third to the last (of 22) rows upside down! Arghh!! So I spent an hour frogging. Today I'm taking my top to the kids so I can spread it out on their carpet and take a photo. If I don't find any glaring errors in the quilt top, then I'll pack up all my sewing stuff tonite and start cleaning this tin box. It can get away from me quickly.
Bill is dropping me at the kids at 0800 this morning - we usually get there at 0930 - and then he's going to the hitch place to have the new hitch installed. Hoping that all goes well. We expect it to but you never know. Fingers crossed.

If you look hard, you can see her new cowboy boots!

Mary Z she use the same fabric that was in the pattern and she did a fabulous Job.
So today I will sandwich that quilt and start it.
I m also looking at irons again that classic iron I was going to buy has an aluminum sole plate so thats definitely not for me.
So I will look again.
What ever happened to the basic iron

.
Well thats all the news here I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.

Morning
We had 5 inches of snow last Fri. Not much compared to what we saw in Big Bear CA, but a lot for out here. It's almost melted off, and Mother Nature is threatening us with more next week.
I have been working on tearing apart jeans and upcycling them into a purse. First attempt didn't come out perfect, so it will be a play purse for DGD. Learning from my mistakes and working on number 2.
Joe has befriended a young mechanic that moved to town. He enjoys working at his shop . He teaches the old school ways to this young man, and learns the new stuff from him. This young man's wife hangs out here with me &DDIL one day a week and we are teaching her to cook and bake. She scored a used sewing machine off Facebook and we will teach her to sew, quilt, & care for it. It's a true gift from God to pass on skills and knowledge. This gal has not had an easy life. She is very shy and sweet.
My oldest boy is having a kidney dialysis port put in on Feb5. He doesn't need dialysis yet, but just in case. He has a congenital kidney ailment. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
Sorry for rambling on.
Flo

Good morning, hope all is well. Had a rough time sleeping last night. It was almost 1 am before I could fall asleep. Then woke up at 5. 2 patients to see then maybe I can get in a class or two. I am at the part when many are coming up due in a relatively short period of time.
Lyn nice picture of Maryz. Can't see the design on the stand they are looking at but it looks like it might be quite nice. Reminds me of a black and pink quilt I was making years ago. I have never finished it. I should find it and get it done.
Judi my Dad's father and step mother lived in Ft. Meyers for years. I was only there once.
Maryq I don't watch much news. Too much negative stuff. I am considering MSQC as a stop on my trip. Sure wish DH could get 4 weeks off. I could make a few more stops.
Tina I still haven't attempted any embroidery on my machine but it's in the plans. Those placemats really are cute. Perfect for up coming Valentine's Day.
Chriss is there a limit to how many projects we can have going? I have a gazillion. My Radiant quilt is back from the quilter already so I can start thinking about the binding. I think I have enough border fabric left.
Maryz since the great grands are with their Mom and Dad now I don't hear much about them. Their grandpa Luie does take turns taking them out somewhere fun but only one at a time. He does post pics of them on Facebook so I have a litle bit of news. They seem happy when I see the pics. Sounds like your having a great time with Miss Boots, sad it will soon be over. What a great picture for her to remember you by.
Flo I have seen pictures of those jean purses. They are pretty cool I think.
Judi glad the roads are clear. I lived in the snow when my kids were small but don't think I could do it now. Just too cold for me.
Well if I am to get anything done before work I need to get going. I think I have to leave by 9:15 cuz it's Calistoga day which is an 75 min drive.
Have a great day everyone.
Lois I am going to plan a day to do nothing. Uhm, that means I don't have to work, no charting or sewing to do, no groceries to get, no house chores, yep, sounds like something I need to do.

Good morning!
Beautiful, bright and cold! Not much here new. Mr G has conflicting appointments this morning. So PT needs to be rescheduled, probably later today. Appointments get scheduled months in advance, then they added PT. Sarah is taking him this morning.
Stu now works for a company that started out as a quilt company, but has expanded into other ventures. Stu handles customers calls about computer problems and straightens out those messes. He's living in the basement at Sarah's. No girls in the picture at the moment. He's doing well otherwise.
Well, while visiting with y'all, I have had to deal with Mr G and text messages, ugggh! Got them straight now. I'm off to sort a closet full of clothes and thin out the herd . Finally got the tote of missed Christmas decorations packed, but won't take it down for a day or two more, just in case. Yup, remembered where one is I forgot.
Do fun stuff! I need fun stuff around here!
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning Girls
Well, today is the day I am actually going to get out of the house!!! The fridge is now completely empty, all the things I had in the freezer to be saved for later are used up! I'm just glad I had stocked up on coffee and TP as those things are in abundance!
Maryz... Your Star quilt is amazing!! You have to be so proud of yourself to have that all done. I don't think anybody could get that put together without a block turned here or there. I did work on CN yesterday, but I think I spent more time UN sewing that actually sewing. Fingers crossed here to that the installation of the new hitch goes off without a HITCH!!
Lois... Still in the market for a new iron? I remember the iron my Mom had, man that thing lasted for years!! and My Mom LOVED to iron, and ironed a LOT of Dad's shirts. I think she even took in ironing once upon a time. I did get one of those basic B & D ones from amazon, but sent it right back. If you want, I can send you the link for my favorite Iron from Amazon. Though Walmart carries them too. Check out Hamilton Beach, but be sure it says DURATHON!
Judi... Don't you love grocery pick up? I don't do it too often, only because I prefer to hand select my veggies and fruit, but it sure does come in handy... and it saves me money as I don't get distracted on other things---I especially like the "clearance" racks at Target!
Flo... What a great thing you and Joe are doing for that young couple! I met a young gal the other day that's learning how to crochet and she mentioned she wanted to learn to knit and quilt too--so I told her to keep in touch and I would help her. We have to make sure that these arts are passed on! Prayers for your son!
Valerie.... I didn't watch the news much before and I have to be careful about watching too much. I just try to catch up to have some idea what's going on. Are you still working one of you hospice jobs? When will you be able to call yourself completely retired?
Guess I better get in gear... I am kind of looking forward to getting out of the house today. I haven't been out for over a week, except to go to Shawn house for dinner last Saturday. So look out Target... here I come~
Wishing you all the very best today!!

Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today.
I will go into town and clean the parents house today. It's been two weeks. Today won't take me as long as it did the first time I went. After that I will head on over to HL, the only place in town with fabric, and get something in red, white, and blue. I do have a few things on my list I need to pick up then home. Perhaps a haircut could be added to my todo list.
Tomorrow is Thursday Grandma day. I think we should rename every day Thursday, but that' s me.
Lyn, yes, George Thorn, the story goes, made 40k in gold. I don't remember the year. There is a lot of family history here, most of it revolves around gold, I don't know if future generations really are interested.
Maryz, love the boots and the horse. great picture. I think playing dog is a great way to spend an afternoon. Your quilt is great. I wonder how many 2 1/2 inch charms you have leftover, enough to do another?
Lois, I hear you about irons. I think mine is a Hamilton Beach but I wish it got hotter. I am afraid to buy an older one at a sale because I just know I will get one with a bad cord and cause a fire.
Judi, hope your adventure is short and complete. I will be on my own for dinner tonight too. Glad there is no snow so you can travel safely.
Flo, prayers said for your son. How nice of you and DH to befriend the young couple. I bet it's fun for all of you.
Valerie, nope, there are no limits for you. I have to have limits. I have quilt tops that need to be put together, but don't do well working on more than one thing at a time. Hope you get to have Valerie Day very soon.
Jana, you are so busy. glad Mr. G has you to keep him straight. While purging in that clothes closet save the hangers, you will need to put your new skinny clothes on them.
Maryq, happy grocery shopping. Lots to get when you haven't gotten anything in a while.
I need to get moving. Dinner tonight will be spaghetti made with spaghetti squash and a jar of sauce (RAO's brand) that I will add hamburger and mushrooms to.
Have a groovy day
Chriss

Good morning.
The Block magazine will be the same quality paper, so Natalie said. They will be adding a section on indepth discussion of notions.
MaryZ, I very cute photo of Ms Boots looking at the picture. When we get back down to the MH at the coast, I don't know how long we'll be there. I haven't heard from Garry's friend from MN, who have come by the end of Feb the last 2 yrs. If they don't, then we'll probably stay to the end of March. Come back to the house in April for a couple weeks then head to Indiana for our annual service appt, which starts the last Monday of April. I had to move it up to give us more time to get to DGS graduation in Colorado the middle of May.
I questioned the construction guy about calling it sheet rock vs drywall. So, if you call him and say you have a place that needs a drywall patch, that means sheet rock, tape, mud, and whatever else for the whole project. So my cabin is a drywall project plus other finish and paint.
Lois, I have a Panasonic Cordless Iron 360, love it. I only use distilled water in my irons and they last a long time. My cordless Maytag had some issues steaming after 20 years, they don't make it anymore so I went with Panasonic. I like being cord free when ironing.
Judi, I'm glad the blizzard hit before you started your errands.
Flo, The purse you posted on FB was cute. It's wonderful for you and Joe to pass on your knowledge and skills to this young couple. Prayers for your son.
MaryQ, I don't watch much news either.
Well, I think Garry has come down with a cold. Started sneezing yesterday, then blowing the nose. He's still in bed but I hear him using Kleenex. So far I'm fine and am taking some extra supplements.
The guys are here putting up the wainscoting today, and might prime everything.
Has anybody tried the coffee loophole recipe, to lose weight? I'm going to try it, it gives the coffee a bit of different taste, but hope it works.
I have a list, so better get to it. Prayers for those in need.
Lyn

Was just perusing the news and ran across the story, JoAnn's is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, for the second time in a year. The company that bought them recently, said they are planning a liquidation sale and closing all stores, going out of business. To quote a Disney movie character, , the parrot in Aladin, why am I not surprised! We all knew this was coming.
