Good morning,

I've been waking up about 0330 for the past week. Even Scottie isn't ready to get up that early. I'm going to have a real problem when we go home. I'm a early riser, but this is just ridiculous.

TINA - I can smell your banana nut bread from here! Mmm.... Normally I'm not a fan, but if you put nuts in it, it changes everything! Yum! Once we had a problem with our Nolting long arm. We were on the phone with the company back in Iowa for about 1/2 hour. Turns out we had the needle in backwards! And another time, the bobbin case was "out of round" after we dropped it on the carpet. Now we keep a spare handy.

LYN - I'm sorry you and Garry had such a bad night. And then company coming for lunch! I hope last night was better for you both. Funny about the woman who thought the train should swerve to miss her. I'd like to think she was in shock or maybe even joking, and not that she was just that dim-witted. And no, Amara didn't ride or even sit on the little horses. I don't think any kids did. And she wouldn't pet them either. But her eyes were wide and she did get close.

LOIS - a bummer about the bobbin. And you had to remove the entire quilt to put in a new bobbin? Yikes. Do you pin something bright to mark your place so you can find it again?

MARY Q - 200 pencil cases!!?! Man, I'd be bug-whacky if I had to do that. You should hire elves to do the job. I hear they work for cocoa and cookies. I don't know what your budget is, but a gift certificate to get car washes or a detail might be a good gift for your kids. Or a winter yard spruce-up.

CHRISS - and a gift certificate to go out to a nice dinner - complete with free babysitting, of course - might be a nice gift for YOUR kids. And those sewing cards you described - I had those as a kid and I loved them! And you could remove the yarn from the holes and do them all over again. I've been wondering if I could find some for Amara in another year or two. When "someone" in our household forgets to thaw something for supper I use a quick thaw method. I put the packaged meat in a sink or pan of hot tap water and cover it. If it's a big package or really densely packed I sometimes have to refresh the hot water once or twice but usually it takes less than an hour.

JANA - well, if you do go to CA, I think you should take the train! And take a pillow for Michael to sit upon. But you know, they actually make fake hineys for men suffering from disappearing hiney syndrome. It's a lot more common problem than you might think. Maybe an idea for a Christmas gift?

LORI - I've never made tortellini soup mainly only because I never have tortellini on hand. I make my chicken noodle with any kind of noodle or other pasta, orzo, rice, etc. Though my favorite is wide egg noodles or homemade noodles. I have a recipe for SW Black Bean soup that is really good. But still, split pea is my favorite.

JUDI - I hope you're feeling a little better today. You have really had a bad year! Saying a special prayer just for you.

Yesterday was laundry day. It seems it comes around pretty often and yet it's been 10 days. (I counted the undies). After that we walked the campground with Scottie and then I settled in to work on my sewing. I finished all 49 Ohio Star blocks and packed them away. I'll put that quilt together at home. I relaxed and read a book the rest of the afternoon. I'm still waiting for my Twilight Creatures to arrive. Tracking shows that it's been kicking around the Austin area for 5 days but STILL isn't in my mail box. Maybe today. This morning I'm going to shorten a pair of jeans for Bill before going to Amara's house. Every time we are there, we sneak another present (or two) under the tree. She watches us but doesn't bother them. She learned on day one that pines are pokey! We're taking some quilts to Autumn's office today. They want to take a photo of me with some quilts for background for their notice of the January quilting class. We are planning the photo for Saturday, 21st. Right after my hair appointment. Supper tonight is going to be a scramble - potatoes, onions, peppers, kielbasa, eggs. My favorite! We'll cook it on our outdoor griddle.

My sister is having hip replacement surgery this morning. If you have a spare prayer for her . . . .

Have a wonderful day!

Good news is my sweet Liam thought I should have a treat so he brought me a little hanburger and some fries..and a sprite...for lunch,,,I was able to eat some of ut and no tummy trouble and all me plumbing seems to be working,,,He spent the day with Pa and they worked on the truck and watching our poor Lions lose a football game.
Well I am going to get some toast and try to sanitize both bathrooms...Its almost like covid here trying to prevent more "critters" from invading,,,,we are not germ o phobic but this is ridiculous...Breaking out the lisol Hope you are all having a good weekend and a wonderful day,,,,I am praying for wellness,,,

Overcast, 69° and possible rain today.

MaryZ, There are dim-witted people out there. Her's may have been shock, but here's another story that an Engineer told me. A lady lived next to the tracks in a town north of Salt Lake. She called the police to make a complaint, which was, she had lived by the tracks for 30 years and not once had the train yielded and stopped for cars near her house. Sadly they're allowed to vote.

Lois, Congratulations on getting the quilts done.

I have texted our friends and canceled lunch. I woke up at 2:30 to find Garry in his recliner. BP a little high. 7 a.m. I have given him his Thyroid med and in a bit will have him eat something and take BP med. Shoulder pain was 2, he said in the middle of the night. Now it's gone. He's had this pain before because he pushes on the table to stand up and the shoulder doesn't like that.

So, not sure what I will be doing today. Right now, drinking coffee and watching the birds and squirrel having breakfast at the bird feeders.

Hope your day goes well.
Lyn

Good morning!

Cloudy and expecting snow, so the they say. We'll see.....

Not much going on here. As per usual, Sarah needs my help sewing some shirts she's making for Ethan and her DH. So she'll be over sometime today. So there goes my sewing to the back burner. I have my shopping done. One last package to arrive Friday. I do need to go get gift cards and I'll do that when I get the roasts for Christmas Eve dinner. Aaron will cook them, well smoke them for that dinner. And since that method doesn't make gravy, we'll do a small pot roast for the gravy and make enchiladas with the meat for a future meal. Tradition rules here for certain meals. I can't go too far in left field with this family. LOL!

Prayers for all y'all to get better, we all can use them!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls

I hate to say this, and if asked I will deny that I ever did, but we could use a little snow up here!! It's so dreary and ugly as it was warm yesterday and the little bit of snow we did have has all melted away. BUT, that being said, it can wait until after Christmas when I know I don't have to go out!

Maryz... Is there such a thing as Banana bread without nuts? I mean, what's the point right? The loaves of cranberry bread I've been making are in two versions--some with and some without because you just never know who is going to have an allergy! Man that sucks waking up at 0330!!! How about this... try a shot of NyQuil when you go to bed  Worked for me last night and I don't even have a cold! I think I am the elf for the pencil cases!! Yes the kids are getting gift cards and a bag of little goofy stuff. Someone suggested jammie pants for Shawn and Kevin and as luck would have it, the Walgreens close by has them with a St. Michael Town Logo on them! Little Miss Boots, looks like she's not quite sure of that horsey!!

Lois. YIKES!!!! Six quilts!!! Doesn't it feel good to have that many done. Have you been doing the bindings right along or do you now have a pile of quilts to bind. If you don't find the cookie boxes at Hobby Lobby, I did find some at the Dollar Tree store! 2 in a pack for $1.25!

Judi...This is not a good time of the year to be sick!!!! Not that I have to tell you that. I'm glad you did go to urgent care though. I'm wondering if all this stuff with hospital and special diet for a while and testing has left you a little immunocompromised. For sure, I'll send some prayers along that a little prednisone and antibiotic can work it's magic and that you will feel better soon.

Lyn..... Love this little stories about goofy people.. You just wonder where they were when the the Good Lord was handing out brains. I was in line to get the singing talent but the Good Lord skipped me on that one.

Jana... Your special Red Velour Christmas dress reminds of the Red Velveteen dress I made for myself, probably Christmas of 1968? I'd made my sister and both an special Christmas dress in red or one year it was deep rose pink. Somewhere there is a picture! But pantyhose???? NEVER again will I struggle into a pair of panty hose!

Tina... Sounds like you have a big fun project! Rearranging the sewing room! Oh how I miss my nice big room. You can't have too many shelves IMHO When I moved into here, we took the doors off the 2nd bedroom closet and Brennen helped me install shelves top to bottom! Ok I admit, they get a little messy from time to time.

Chriss... Did you have a great day all on your own? I'm sure it's been wonderful having Dad come over and do little chores and fix up for you, but a day on your own to even stay in jammies all day---well that could be a very good day too!

Lori.... Last fall I was making pencil cases for the "Project Pencils" program that a gal runs here in my town. They put backpacks of school supplies together for kids in need in our county. The gal also goes to the Honduras twice a year on mission trips and asked if she could pay me to make pencil cases for the kids she visits there. I said sure... though I don't need to be paid! She ordered me a couple batches of zippers and I'm just using fabric pieces I have left over from other projects and fabric that Katie or KC gave me. They actually do whip up pretty fast. I'm just happy to use fabric I have and so are my kids as it will mean less for them to worry about when I am gone!

Yesterday I spent the day stash diving in the garage and cutting out pieces 5"x 10.5" --that size seems to work the best and fusing them with a very light Pellon. So far I'm up to 187 I think, so I'll cut a few more today, then spend the afternoon sewing. Found out from Peg that both she and her sister tested positive for Covid--we were all together on the 7th but so far I feel fine. A little throat tickle, but a chug of Nyquil again tonight and I should be fine.

Time to crank up the music and get back to cutting!!!
Wishing you all a sunny day... and please send a little extra up here!

Good morning. It's going to be a marvy day today.

The parents will be here again, dad is having trouble getting my lights repaired. He's finally caved and will be bringing up new ballasts today to solve the problem. To go get any parts is a 30 mile trip each way. But he's having fun and can still do the job so I just let him do whatever he wants to do.

Load two is in the washer, and today I need to vacuum a bit and perhaps dust before I can do anything else.

Lori, yes, Elliott received his box. He has his stocking and his letter and gift from Santa. Next year I will have to send the Santa letter and gifts by itself. I want to see that Christmas quilt, I have the blocks from a swap we did some time ago, they are all different sizes, it will be a challenge so perhaps after Christmas.

Lyn, I hope you feel much better. I'm always amazed at how much I need my cpap machine. It's a life saver for sure. I wonder how many people would have stayed alive if only they used one? Hope Garry feels much better soon. your dimwitted train not stopping story is as bad as the tourists who ask how they shut off the waterfalls in Yosemite.

Tina, It will be good to have a year of finishing the unfinished. I never thought of Jazmyne as a hot rod kind of a girl. I pictured her more sporty, like maybe a jeep.

Maryz, prayers said for your sister. too funny, I sometimes count undies to see how long it's been since the last laundry go round. Wish I could be there for dinner, I've been thinking chili relleno casserole lately, I have eggs that need to be used. Hoping for no wind on photo shoot day for you. I got each of the kids a Cal Poly Alumni hoodie, Gloria's is here and Richards is on it's way. I also found a set of coins in a Merry Christmas case from this year for Elliott. Then I laughed, the cost was 9.99 for 41 cents worth of coins. They are also on their way. I have used the sink method of defrosting but since I don't HAVE to cook I just put it in the fridge, and have a salad insted. Great Amara/horse/Bill picture.

Lois, my goodness, what do you put in your coffee. Your post is full of energy. I'm still in my robe and slippers. Hope you find everythign at HL that you are looking for. congrats on the 6 quilts, will we see pictures?

Judi, I am praying for your health too. Hopefully, as you eat real food and get the nutrients from it your health will improve. That Liam is a wonderful young man to think of his grandma, what a smile making treat. Glad your DIL is home and doing well, I've added a prayer of thanks for God working with her health. I think facetime is a wonderful invention, so nice to see people you want to se.

Jana, I'd like some enchiladas please. Do you make your own enchilada sauce? I've always bought canned sauce, but it's just not as good as it used to be. Making new traditions is one of the things I am looking forward to with Elliott. As for the old traditions, they have gone by the way side and now that there's a new generation there will be new traditions.

Maryq, yesterday wasn't a me day and today won't be either. But it will happen. How nice to get rid of all of those scraps and make pencil cases, I bet they will be used till they wear out. My spare room closet has no doors and is full of shelves. I have my fabric stored there in totes, although I need to go through all those totes and see just what I have. Hope you get your snow, after Christmas.

Well, time is up, I need to get busy. I havea meatloaf and chicken thawing out, one will be dinner tonight, the other will be dinner tomorrow. I really need to make a Costco run, I'm almost out of hamburger.

You girls have a great dya,
Chriss
