Good morning,

I'm up early feeling alot more better when we went to the pharmacy to pick up our script I asked the pharmacist what is good for nasal decongestant he told me to use the flonase spray and I did and had a good night sleep.

Here is a sort of not so funny story yesterday I got a message from ups that they delivered my new carriage but I looked outside and didn't see it so I went on the ups website and was in a chat they told me to call where i purchased it from so i did and low a behold they told me that the address was wrong it went to 23 chase instead of 29 so the guy told me that if it dosent show up they will send another so i walked down to 23 and took it off the porch and brought it home I didn't mind but the box was awkward and after that I put it together and now once again I'm ready to go.
So far we have had no rain in 30 days yesterday marked 12 years that storm sandy hit NJ we were without power for 11 days glad we had the generator.

So today I'm going to do the 1 load of wash and then I will be upstairs.
I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good dark morning to all. I've been up since 5 am. I hate nights like this. UGH!!
Lois--
Do you get a discount for your "delivery" to the right address. At least yours was only a short distance. This happens too often. Some times the companies just re-sent the item, other times I've gotten 2 of the same items.

I've been working on getting my ufo's done. My problem is making blocks for 1 quilt but because I like the block use all different fabrics that I have and making the same block for future (you never know). So far, I have 3 QOV tops for the men and 4 tops for the PTSD women unit in soft colors. Add 2 children's tops for the guild. Still have blocks for 1 more to sew together. Then start on Holiday gifts.

Please add my sister, Laura, to your prayers today. She has been in pain for so many years. She now is 98 pounds. She has a PET scan on Friday and from there we were told she has to go to the cancer center this Fri for results. It does not sound good given all her problems. She will not go for treatment as she has no energy left to live.

Hubby goes for his infusion today. He goes for a scope on 2 days before Thanksgiving. Then we will know if this treatment from the study has been working.

I hope everyone is doing well.
Diane

Good morning,

DIANE - so sorry to hear about your sister, Laura. Praying for her - and for your hubby that his treatment is showing positive results.

LOIS - As the Post Office raises its rates, the quality of service is dropping drastically. I now mail everything a week early and pray it all gets there in time. And to the correct place. I just read this morning that the post office in eastern WA "lost" 250 ballots. The article wasn't clear but I think they were ballots going out to the voters, not completed ballots coming back in. But still - it's unacceptable. People now have to apply for replacement ballots. Anyway, I hope your new carriage works better for you.

SHARONA - I hope you get your pesky little garage varmints. We have some, too, which drives Scottie wild when he smells them. Bill has a "trap line" he's run but he doesn't catch many. I think they only come in during bad weather. Through the cat hole (which we block off when we are out of town).

LYN - you are getting closer! Will you just keep packing until the trailer is full and then leave? Are you going straight to TX or going through Hays on your way? Glad to hear you are heeding Jana's advice and adding sheetrock to your walls. Is it possible, feasible, or even practical to put any outlets in your floors?

MARY Q - Back when I was young and invited to wedding showers (these days it's funerals!), I used to fill a new washbasket with lots of household items, canned foods, dish towels, etc. If I was in a mischievous mood when I packed it, I would remove the labels from the canned food. Tickets to a sporting event, concert, light display, etc are also nice gifts as well as gift certificates to restaurants, massages, mani/pedi's, etc. (Teen girls would love those). And we have a few family members who get Hickory Farms. But you're right - if you get no acknowledgements - then no more gifts for them! Dear Abby publishes a list every year of great ideas for seniors and "shut-ins".

LORI - same here - I have an empty day on the calendar and suddenly it's filled from dawn to bedtime (which gets earlier every year!). Thank you for the comments and input on my choice of project for my quilting class. The "ears" on the star point rectangles are pretty large so I'm going to show them how to make a second seam, cut of the ears, and make 2-1/2" HST's as a bonus. Congratulations on your new ride!! It's a good time of year to buy one. Our last car we bought on Halloween in 2004.

BECCA - it was good to chat with you a bit yesterday. And God bless you for the good work you are doing to help those who need it. I can't even begin to imagine the devastation and chaos they are dealing with. You are an angel. And I'm relieved to hear you are OK.

CHRISS - An airbed is a great idea. We've borrowed one before when my siblings descended and it worked so well, we bought a twin size and took it in our trailer to Alaska back in 2019. My sis flew up to meet us at Gene's and she slept on it in our trailer. All good reports from the sleepers. But get a good one. They have compressors built in and inflate almost instantly, and deflate quickly, too. You roll it up, put it in a box, and tuck it back into the closet when your guests leave. Easy Peasy.

IRISH - You have a lot going on! And a lot of goodies made for your craft show. I love those crocheted towels. They hang on a stove or dishwasher handle? I was thinking of you the other day. I knew it was 'one of those days' for you. ❣️

JANA - how are things going in the Batt Cave?

JUDI - did you get into the driver's side of the car yet? If so, how did it feel? I assume you do not have a stick shift. That would be harder! I bet you will be driving short, easy trips within the week!

Yesterday I cleaned house - and this time I really did it, not just talked about it. Then we ran a bunch of errands. I came home, made my salad, wrapped bread to heat, and prepped my chicken for chicken parm. Then I got my "in progress" instruction blocks made, finished cooking supper, and relaxed when our friends came. A good, but busy day. Today is chiropractor, print my handouts for my class and pack that project up for the trailer. And make snowman binding. Bill is past the halfway point with quilting. My sewing room needs cleaning, plus things need to get stowed in the trailer. We've just been chucking things inside. But - I have to finish all my sewing first, because I need to take all my cutting mats and they need to go flat into the storage area under our bed and everything else will get packed on top of them. It's like a puzzle where you slide all the tiles around.

Our friends, Tex & Annette, were supposed to be here last night for our company supper but they cancelled said they are coming tonite instead and bringing a charcuterie board. Told me not to cook anything. So after my chiro appt at 9am I have the day to work on all those things I mentioned.

Yesterday was National Black Cat Day! Hope no one forgot! Someone here celebrated by having a quick snack and an extra nap. 🐈⬛

Group hug!

Snowing on the mountain tops, 29° here and just a little sleet on the deck.

Becca, Good to hear from you. Glad you are helping where you can. Are you still at our DD's or back at your place?

Lois, It's sad that you had to become a porch pirate for your own stuff. Hope the new carriage works better for you.

Diane, Sounds like you are busy. Prayers for Laura and DH.

MaryZ, We are headed straight to the Texas house. Outlets in the floor won't work well.

There's only a few little things left to load. I think the hardest part is the very end when you have the odd shaped stuff like chairs and a little side table my Dad made. I'm trying to make sure stuff is secure and won't shift.

Today I will pack some pictures that are on the mantle. That box will fit under the desk which is at the side door. Finish some laundry and do a little cleaning.

Prayers for all.
Lyn

Good Morning Girls

We are now in the ugly stage here in Minnesota. The pretty leaves are all on the ground, the trees are bare and the grass has gone to a dormant state of brown. Not much in the way of sunshine today either. I hate to say this, but a little bit of white on the ground would brighten things up!

Lois... You know I have a special place in my heart for pharmacists, so I'm glad to hear you had a good recommendation from yours. Now that you can buy Flonase over the counter, I just might have to give it a shot, just to see if it would help me sleep through the night. Glad you were able to retrieve your package from the neighbor.... and that nobody called the Police and accused you of "porch robbing"!

Diane.... Here I thought I was the only one with piles of UFO's!!  Will most definitely send lots of prayers for Laura. There's a song that comes up on my play list (I have Pandora music on all day) and I can't remember who sings it, but it's called "Laura" and whenever I hear it I think of your Laura and the beautiful things she made to help my hospice home.

Maryz.... That's why I vote in PERSON. I don't trust the post office, whether there are workers who lose ballots by accident or on purpose I want my vote to be Counted!!! A basket full of stuff is my favorite thing to give for wedding and baby showers! When my niece got married several years ago, she got a basket of cleaning supplies-- who couldn't use cleaning supplies! And very often for kids going off to college, I've made baskets of stuff--food and snacks. None of my kids want more stuff... so getting them stuff that can be used up is a better idea. Your class project looks great . It's a perfect way start out.. They will get the basics of cutting, piecing and squaring up and then the joy of making something they can use in their homes.

Lyn... OH no worries, I got your idea!! I thought I'd combine a basket full of stuff with a gift card or two. Hope all goes smoothly for your trip back to Texas and that you are able to get out of the mountains before the snow really comes. I've seen some of those roads that lead up to Estes and I don't think I'd want be driving on them in the snow!

Judi.... Gotta love having a sister that will drop everything and come rescue you. It's a good excuse to go out to lunch. Tell me again which quilt you are working on? I have so many ideas of quilts spinning around in my head, you should see the squirrels running around my house!

Chriss... The shower is all yours today. It's my "ugly day" No shower, no makeup and a headband to keep my hair off my face. Do you folks come almost every day? What kind of projects is Dad wanting to do these days.

Well, since it's after 10:00 I better get in gear. Darn Katie showed me a another neat project to make and sell at a craft fair--it's a shoe bag for packing your shoes in suitcase--super easy and I'm going to make a few to use up some of the heavier fabric I have. I have a call in to the flooring company that's going to put the new floor in the sewing room, hoping they can schedule me in pretty soon. My sewing room needs a good cleaning and I'm wanting to wait until I know they are coming--no sense cleaning it twice right?

Wishing you all a most wonderful Wednesday

Good morning everyone. Well the CT scan went okay. The drug side effects did not. That was a lot of Prednisone and I could not sleep Monday night. Tossed and turned the whole night. Last night I did get better rest but not what I would have liked. Not sure I will do that again. According to the Kaiser web site, I have a consolidation in my left lower lobe. Basically means fluid has replaced the air. This can occur for several reasons. Have not heard from the doctor yet. I have developed a hoarse productive cough but no temp. I am planning to send him an email today. I think he is out of the office though so may need to pass it on to another dr. I do not wait well!

I did go to Free Sew yesterday. Didn't get as much done as I would have liked. Discovered I was two three inch squares short to do my Gem Tones blocks. I will sort that out later today. Tomorrow is another Free Sew and in the evening slow Stitch. So a litte here and a little there I am making progresss.

47 right now, supposed to get to 63. Sweater day.

Lyn I do not envy you all that packing. Wish I could come help. Yes, the SIL is the one who had the kids. They have been given back to the parents so I pray and think of them everyday.

Maryz our mail delivery has really declined over the past year. Seems like the mail person delivers when he feels like it and not sure what happens to the mail when he doesn't. I use the site that tells you what is coming, and check daily and notifiy them back what I didn't receive but I still never get it.

Diane sounds like you have been busy, Prayers for DH that infusion goes well, no side effects.

Lori I plan to leave September next year. We should all rent a van or something!

Maryq no I did not know that is where the Trapp family settled. Odd I love the movie "Sound of Music". And yes, if you want to see the Jane Stickle quilt, you have to go all the way to Vermont. It is at the Bennington museum there.

Chriss thanks for the advise, he has a bed, (knew I should have gotten rid of that). Doesn't do any good to make noise as he is almost deaf and DH babies him so I am trying to keep my mouth shut. He was supposed to do his laundry yesterday, nope doing it this AM! He is lucky I don't need the washer today. I am going to work.

Oh my goodness, after 8 already, gotta get some breakfast and start getting dressed for day job. Have a great day everyone.

Lois oh my goodness, if you had did that in my town, somebody would have shot you! Glad you are safe.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!

Good morning!

Lois – I live on Flonase and Zyrtec. I use the regular strength Flonase and then switch over to the sensitive one when my nose starts to bleed. Even buying them at Costco is expensive. I’m SO glad you’re feeling better! Yay for finding your carriage. Good grief. Aren’t generators great?

Diane – my you have been busy! Your poor, sweet sister. I’ll put her back on my prayer list. Prayers continue for your husband.

Maryz – stinking mice! How dare they use the cat hole. How lovely to have dinner taken care of for tonight. Have a lovely chiro visit. I wish I could attend the class you’re doing down in TX.

Lyn – haha – so true about Lois being her own porch pirate. I am amazed at all you do. Hope you figure out the best way to get everything packed. Sounds like it’s a lot like doing a jigsaw puzzle.

Judi – look at you – doing all that laundry! That’s so nice of your sister to take you to PT for the price of a lunch. I’m so glad you’re keeping on top of what happened at the hospital. You are making a difference for those that follow.

Becca – I echo Maryz’s sentiments – God bless you and all who are helping out there.

Val - glad the scan is over - that's a shame about not sleeping. Don't like the sound of 'consolidation in the lower lobe'. Sorry about your shortage of Gem Tones.

Maryq – we also agree with the ‘no thank you’ then no gift next year. How hard is it to text a thank you? Or, when we give b-day money via Venmo or PayPal, to post the thanks there.. Here in CO it's only vote by mail. We use BallotTrax, which tells us when they've mailed them and received them back. That Darn Katie - what an intriguing idea.

Chriss – we have a hybrid that is almost 18 years old now. It’s an SUV and gets about 30 miles to the gallon. We love it. We also have the inflatable mattresses – the girls when they were little called them ‘blower beds’. We got ours from Costco.

Lori - congrats on the new car. I like the color.

Today is a cold and hopefully snowy day here. It’s moisturizing outside, but not enough to even call it a drizzle. Last night, the cat's bell was jingling behind the couch (like he was chasing something). He walked out with something in his mouth - once he dropped it I saw it was a big, wooIy spider. It was about the size of a donut. EUGH! I will be making lists of what absolutely needs to be cleaned before Thanksgiving, plus listing all the food to put out. The only things I’m making are a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie. Jim is headed for his hair cut, which means Chinese food for dinner. Yum! Have a glorious day. xoxo Sharona

Good morning!

Well, it happened. Earlier last week we were nice and toasty warm, today, I have snow in my yard! Good thing I hurried and got my front planters filled and planted. It's corn snow, more ice than our fluffy powder snow and will melt off. It's bringing down the ground temperatures so the snow sticks.

My eye appointment went very well. The Dr is very pleased with how my eye is responding to treatment. He added a week longer between the next appointment. All the bubbles and wrinkles caused by wet macular have returned to normal that were there at the beginning of all this.

Laundry awaits me. Just a couple of loads. And a couple of shirts to iron.

Judi - I slide in my Highlander by backing my tush to the seat edge, sit on it and twist my legs in. My Highlander is just the perfect height for me. I can't climb into any of the kids trucks without a wooden step, they are just too high. Sarah has a Highlander too, so that's makes running around with her doable. If and when we get a new little truck, it has to pass the tush height test. Oh, I make sure that the seat is waaaay back from my normal driving position, gives me the 3xtra length to get my bad leg in the Highlander.

Not much else here, still working on my bench pillow. And will re-glue a small three drawer dresser for my use.

Enjoy the day, beware, snow is approaching,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning. It's going to be another wonderful fall day today. crisp and chilly. And yes, the furnace is on. It's 44 outside and a cozy 65 inside.

My wonderful dad was here yesterday getting things ready so my windows can be installed tomorrow, he will be back to finish up today. While they were here I asked my stepmom if she wanted to go for a ride. When we were on the road she told me how much she enjoyed the ride and that I was the best God ever made, then under her breath she said except for the other 4. I told her we could leave out the part about the other 4 kids and she laughed.

We stopped at the grocery store and got the stuff to make enchiladas. She had $20 in her wallet and wanted to contribute. When we got home she opened cans, poured things into bowls and did dishes. I tried to keep her busy because she goes and asks my dad every few minutes if she can help. He can't hear so he stops his work to say huh. She also tells me she's chilly, but dad never closes the door as he goes in and out so I don't turn the furnace on. It's a head shaker of a day which will be repeated today. I love my parents.

My new vinyl floor is bubbling up so I called the company and they are ordering the new vinyl and will be back to install a new floor. Guess their glue didn't stick too well. Glad to know they stand behind their work. The part I don't like is that I need to unload those hutches again and furniture will be moved again. Quite frustrating, but glad it wil be resolved.

Did you see the Vintage Haunt BOM by Shabby fabrics? It's cute. Not sure I want to commit to a $45 per month BOM, but it's cute.

Tonight is my CPR class. and next week I'm taking a first aid class from the same lady. I like that adult school offers free classes.

O'Dorothy, of course we will pick you up. My idea of chili lately is to open a can. I don't eat chili too often and to make anything for the freezer just takes up space and eventually gets tossed.

Lois, so glad you were able to retrieve your package. Things get mis-delivered often. You kind of wonder if the delivery person is even paying attention. Hope it works well with your setup.

Diane, pryaers for your sister as well as DH.

Maryz, sorry, black cat day passed me by. I thought it was tomorrow. You, however, really know how to celebrate. I can't even go into my sewing room until after tomorrow. My new windows will be in tomorrow and then I can arrange things how I want them. I have gotten rid of some furniture so the room is less cluttered.

Lyn, hope those oddly shaped things find just the right spot and are easily moved. I also hope that sun comes out just enough to deice anything in your path.

Judi, I think your sister could have held out for more. She isn't a very costly ride. Lunch is totally worth it. I think, next time you do a thing like knee surgery, you should hide some of Kens undies and he will have to do the laundry.

Maryq, Thanks for the shower being all mine. I also wear a headband when I work outside. I sweat and bought some terry cloth sweatbands from Amazon. The big project here was gettin the windows ready to be replaced. Dad is replacing the window sills in 4 windows. He thought he was going to do the windows himself and even took one out, but decided at 82 it was a bit much. He's replaced the trim on the outside of the windows and done so many other things. Stuff like fixed a plug that didn't work, replaced the things you roll the hoses on, just whatever he sees. He works, covers the workbench in the garage with stuff, I clean the workbench so he has a clean space to work and he does it agin. He tells me the big projects are almost done, we will see.

Valerie, I'm not good at waiting either. Hoping the lobe is an easy fix. My packages seem to get delivered next door. It's all about gps. We don't ave informed delivery here as far as regular mail goes. So I'm sure stuff gets misdeliverd as I also receive mail that belongs to others. I am only informed if packages are coming from either UPS or USPS. I'm so glad you have open sew to escape to.

Sharona, I'm thinking that, unless my car dies sooner, my next car will be a hybrid, but it won't plug in. I'm also pretty much convinced that a blower bed is going to be my go to. I'll get a full sized because it will fit the sheets I own. Hope the lists you are making are short lists.

Jana, my stepbrother pulled into my parents driveway in their new highlander. Not quite as big as I thought they were. I must have beenthinking of a 4runner when I thought Highlanders werre too big. It's a nice car, glad it meets the tush requirements for you.

Not much else here. Since MQ left me all the hot water I had best take advantage of it. Not sure what is for dinner but I do have one enchilada so that I can have it with some fried eggs for breakfast. I made dinners from the rest for dad to take home.

You all have a fun day, I need to get moving.
