SATURDAY, Sept 28th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Sep 28, 2024 5:44 am

Happy Saturday morning,

It's the weekend! Yay! Oh wait - for most of us, it's always the weekend! Still - there's something about Saturdays that will always be the best day of the week.

BECCA - I am a little worried about you in NC with the hurricane. I pray all is well with you and all your family. And MY family - they are in Concord, near Charlotte.

LYN - a good feeling to know you've got the big projects done, your Jeep is finally aligned, and the motorhome is put to bed. Now we just have to get you back to CO and back to TX again.

SHARONA - It's quite a trek for you to go to Denver/Aurora area isn't it? 30 or 40 miles? MY DBIL goes to the same barber he's gone to for 35 years and gets his hairs cut every 5 weeks. And he also brings home supper of some kind on those days.

MARY Q - You and your enabler really found some treasures yesterday, didn't you. Another thing that might sell at craft fairs is holiday pillowcases. Especially for kids. Your brother flies? So does my brother. Or he did. He finally sold his plane some years back but he may have kept his license current. I flew with him once in Alaska. It was snowy so he had skis on the plane. It was cool to see the landscape from the air.

IRISH - your sis does keep you on the run. And is probably keeping you young! Have you heard from Nick in Florida? What part of the state do they live in? Hope you got a little sewing time in despite your sister forcing you to come out and play. BTW, I'm no fan of Walmart, either. They tried to build one in Gig Harbor and the town banded together and kept them out! So I guess I'm not alone.

LORI - wow! What a full day you had! Bridge club, Dad, kitchen work, party, and concert. That would be four different days for me! You are another one that stays youthful! How are you doing with your bridge lessons?

CHRISS - you have been a busy, busy Gramma! The kids will love all the food you are taking to them. And the piglet shirts sound adorable.

LOIS - got cats?

TINA - how are things going in your neck of the world? Do you have everything cleaned yet? You aren't letting your sewing slide, are you??

JUDI - you are probably going to get tired of being asked, "How are you doing/feeling?" But . . . . how are you doing/feeling? I bet it won't be long before you will be allowed to get out of bed and get yourself dressed. It has to be good therapy, right?

Yesterday I did no yard work because I had to stay clean for my hair appt at 11:00. When I got home, Bill had made us more appts for Covid and flu shots at 4:30 so I had to stay clean for that, too. So I was forced - forced, I tell you! - to hang out in my sewing room and play. I finished my wallhanging and made a pair of pillowcases for my brother for Christmas. I think I'll make another set today for his GF, Barbara, who, btw, loved the little posie quilt I took her. I gave my sisters credit, too, and the label read 'from the three Austin sisters'.

Today I have no excuses - back into the yard I go. Tonite we're going to have new food for supper - meatloaf and mashed potatoes & gravy for supper. With a big salad. I have the meatloaf in the freezer.
My meatloaf is not very good but I keep trying and Bill's a trooper.

Praying all in line of the storm are safe!

Good morning Girls

Another sunny morning!! Gosh I love these cool mornings, even tho it's supposed to get to 83 or so today! I love the little bit of chill in the air. BUT not so cold I want to turn on the heat!!

Maryz... Pillowcases are a great idea, I did think of them last year too, but wondered if they would sell. I'm thinking that since they take a yard of fabric, they'd have to sell for about $8-10 I'm not sure if anybody would pay that for a pillowcase. I really just don't know! Doesn't it feel good to get a hair cut? I'm so envious of your curls! I can count on one hand the number of times I've made meat loaf... never been a favorite of mine and the thought of cold meatloaf sandwiches makes me gag, but they were always my Dad's favorite. Yup, my baby Brother Bill flys. His son, also flys and at one time taught air traffic control! I think he is a controller now in Missouri.

Judi.... SO good to see you peek in! You're ONLY 4 days Post-Op... you're probably really doing just fine, sometimes I think we, (women in general) think we have to be super-women and do better than anybody else. There is such a thing as over-doing in PT and you don't want to have any set backs from that!!

Chriss.... I imagine that by bedtime tonight you'll have the car almost completely packed so that in the morning you can throw on some clothes, grab the food and hit the road. You know we are all anxious to see more pictures! My heart just aches for new parents worrying about everything. Funny how babies survive us parents isn't it!

Irish... My neighbor Katie makes a lot of potholders and bowl cozies... but my pot holders just never seem to turn out right---they get all wonky. I'm trying to remember all the stuff I saw at last years craft fair so I can come up with some thing different. I might take a quilt or two and see if could sell one maybe. Since this is a fund raiser for the Sr. Center where the fair is held, I pay a table fee and 20% of my sales. Which is fine with me. I'm just kind of doing it because Peg talked me into it! I sold a lot of reversible aprons last year, but just wasn't in the mood to make them again. Though I am going to make some simple little aprons out of a lot of 30's prints Katie gave me.

Lori.... It's got to be a tough decision on how best to take care of Dad. But you know, in the end it's all about what's best for him. What do your siblings think? My Ex has Parkinson's and my daughter thinks she will be able to take care of him until the end.... but I've already kind of warned her that he will need cares that she won't be able to give. (His wife is useless!) Care for a person with needs like your Dad and Ex will best be met by the professionals. Thank God for those nurses and facility staff!

Normally I would call today chore day, but I need to run to the UPS and return an Amazon purchase and since it's right next door to Target I think I'll run in for a few groceries. I'm out of apples!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning!

Another beautiful day here. Now if we could bottle and save it for a future use, that would be great!

Judi - so good that you are making progress. As I would tell my kids, patience, you'll get there.

Not much here. Mr G brought up my fall totes. I thought I had only three, but somehow I have expanded to four. So I'll be putting things out today. And finding things in the Batt Cave to get in trouble with. My football college teams were nice enough to play at different times today, so that will be on in the background. Daniel will be here too.

Aaron got teased by us yesterday. His BIL laid new sod at BIL house and had leftovers . Kate had Aaron's truck, so Aaron had to use his work, PD truck. Aaron's vehicle was loaded and carrying contraband - grass! :) Aaron is adding the freebie sod in his backyard , adding to what the builder put down.

So enjoy the day!
Hugs,
Jana

Morning
I know I've been MIA, but busy here. We are enclosing our front porch as a sitting area/place to start seeds on winter. Not quite a greenhouse.
Fall is here, so I will cook my frozen berries and tomatoes because not as hot in house.
Will catch up soon

I get an email, The Texas Flyover, it's a free Texas paper. Today they had the Meme of the week which was 4 pictures saying:
Almost Summer, SUMMER, Still Summer, Christmas

Lori, You are doing the right thing for your Dad. We had to do the same after Dad broke his hip riding his bicycle at 98 yrs old.

MaryQ, Only taking the Jeep to Colorado, it will pull the 14' enclosed utility trailer back to Texas. I think all of my sewing room furniture and stash will fit in it.

Irish, There's only been a few times as I'm waking up in the morning that I have to stop and think, which place is this. Most of the time that's in the Motorhome, while traveling.

Judi, Glad you're doing well.

Flo, Good to see you.

Yesterday I had to pull the riding lawn mower battery, that's less than a year old, and take it and the charger I bought in April, back to O'Reillys because charger said battery was bad. Turns out the charger was bad. They gave me a new one and said try charging battery. I had it plugged in all night. I just checked and it says, bad battery. The guy told me if the battery was bad they would give me some kind of a discount since charger caused it. Lawn batteries are only a 3 month warranty.

I'm sitting on the back porch in my PJ'S drinking coffee and watching Minnie explore her yard. The garage and neighbors bushes block me being seen from the back street. I guess I better hit the shower and get to town with the battery. I have a list of To Do's before leaving for Colorado in a few days.

Hope All Y'all have a great weekend!
Lyn

I'm back. I texted BECCA to see if she was OK after the hurricane hit the Carolinas. She is fine but no power for 2 days so far. She said homes are filled with mud and trees are over cars and buildings. It's pretty awful, but at least she is safe.

Good morning everyone 🌞
Judi, glad you're up and about, hopefully dressing without help will be soon.
Maryz, Frankie isn't a good helper convincing Dad..... he's more of an enabler......drives me nuts! I told Dad Thursday that I'm sure he's upset with me and that I'm sorry about that, he said he's not and he knows it needs done.....but who knows, maybe he just doesn't want me thinking he's upset with me.
Lyn, lawnmower batteries are such a pain, you'd think they would last longer than they do....I think they do that on purpose.
Chriss, you sure sound like you're having fun getting everything ready for the kids, I hope you stay a few days. I hope they see how much easier it is with you there and won't let you leave ❤️
Jana, I'm wanting to get my Fall stuff out too but yesterday was 97° and we'd been doing so nicely in the 80's.
Maryq, I love placemats, cloth napkins and Christmas decorations and wreaths at craft fairs. Maybe if we tell you what we look for it might help you? I think pillowcases would be great!
I haven't had any chances to sew lately but I do see an end to the deep cleaning soon. My little brother thanked me for all we've been doing, I've been sending him videos..... I didn't think to send a before video of the closet but I did of the front room. The front bedroom is maybe half done but since his dumpster was full we're not going back till Monday probably. Helping Hands sure got a lot of good items and over 100 brand new books, still in their mailing wrappers.
I'm doing laundry today and some cleaning here, seems to be my life right now but that's ok, it keeps me moving and I feel less burdened with all we're doing.
We did green Chile with Holly yesterday (we didn't need any this year) and I made 21 Chile rellenos for supper last night along with a pot of pinto beans and Holly made spanish rice, we have enough leftovers for supper and probably lunch tomorrow.
You all have a great day!

BECCA-- hope your power comes back real soon. Happy to hear that you are okay. Myrtle beach was lucky this time. A couple of years back we took the hit and what a mess the whole area was. Trees are broken, lights out, water from the intercoastal came up and the roads leading down there were closed for weeks. So I get spook when I hear of these storms coming. I feel so sorry for the families who lost there homes and even some family members passed.

Joe is having a rough time on Weds. from his treatment. It seems like his body is reacting to the med they put in his bladder. Only 2 more Weds. and he gets a break for 3 month although he'll have blood work and a scan or 2 in between that time.
